    Product Description

She Moved Through is one of those records with one foot in this world and one in the next, some half-remembered dream that suddenly startles us by its familiarity. The Tall Grass Captains describe a world where dented doors of dreary city streets open into great galactic vistas, where saints compete for the attention of princesses while satellites spy from above, and dragonflies hunt queens with the power to never let us die. “For this record I was thinking of song-cycle-type records like the Zombies' Oddysey and Oracle with its majestic, melancholy pop," says songwriter Mark Mattson. "I admire artists like the Circulatory System, Neutral Milk Hotel, and the Flaming Lips, who do such an ingenious job of taking that baroque approach to rock music while still creating work that's timeless, hard-driving, valiant and moving." The album title itself nods to a haunting Irish ballad "She Moved Through the Fair." Throughout there is a tunefulness that suggests despite his hard rock background, Mattson never got over the AM pop radio of his early 70s childhood, where the likes of Sweet, Paul Simon, and the Miracles all once rubbed shoulders. This lends an air of fun and hope to the sometimes difficult, tragic subject matter. “I couldn’t continue to write songs and pretend that these individual losses of family and friends, all young women, didn’t affect me to the core,” Mattson explains. “But I didn’t want to make an album that just made people feel sad. I wanted to take that experience of loss and despair and unfairness, and make something about the mystery of it all, about the beauty of being alive.”

      Customer Reviews:

      3 out of 5 stars Decent intro........2002-04-25

'Rocking Tall'. If you would like to get acquainted with Warrant's music but have yet to do so, this isn't a bad place to start--especially if you want to save a few bucks. Personally, I think that 'The Best Of Warrant (Explicit Lyrics)' is a much better way to become familiar with the works of Warrant, but I am only judging this compilation for what it is. The "Down Boys", "Sure Feels Good To Me" and that sweet "Cherry Pie" are all essential tracks to any Warrant collection but where are "I Saw Red" and "Heaven"? Well, I guess you can't have everything. "Quicksand" may be somewhat of an "obscure" Warrant tune, but it is great to have it here on 'Rocking Tall'. A sub-par collection, but not bad.

If 'RT' sounds like it might be what you are looking for in a glam pop-metal compilation disc, pop that sucker in and get yourself of that sweet, sweet cherry pie! Have a good time.

3 out of 5 stars Being generous, not for everybody..........2000-03-21

The songs on this cd are quite good. However, it is a cheap hits collection designed just to make some bucks. This one does not include "Heaven" but rather some slightly more obscure tracks (Train Train, Quicksand, Sure feels good to me). You can find this in most places dirt cheap (5 or 6 bucks brand new) but online merchants sell it for up to 30 so be careful. No new songs, just old stuff from the first three cds. Nothing new here and it is only for a casual fan who didn't like "Heaven" but may want to check them out. If you've never bought any Warrant, I suppose it is a brief and diverse introduction. There are better songs on the original albums but give this a chance if you are on a budget!

2 out of 5 stars same old stuff.......1999-09-18

Every song on this disc is a five star number. But how many times are you going to release the same old thing? It's like Kiss Alive I, II, III, Greatest Kiss, Kiss MTV live, Kiss You Wanted The Best, etc., etc. You get the picture. Save your money and buy the original Dirty Rotten, Cherry Pie and Dog Eat Dog (which is exceedingly good). If you already have these, then wait until they actually put out new material.

2 out of 5 stars what is the point of this?.......1999-07-04

this album is a replay of what has been replayed. i listened to it once. it has good songs and all but why they would even release such a waste of time and money, i don't know. buy greatest hits, its much better.
