Better Than 1st Of The 2.......2007-01-09
The first time I played this I thought it could very well be there best. But am now just glad I finally got it.It's a great Strato album. The best since Infinty, maybe better than.Buy and you judge.
An stronger second Element.......2006-01-11
Obviously to some extent stung by overwhelming criticism of Elements Pt 1 the band respond with this effort. And it's pretty good. Anyone trying to convert a non-rock listener to the point of view that this music takes talent and isn't just a bunch of derelicts banging away on their instuments should buy them this. A lot more genuine feeling than the first Element and more body to the songs. Timo Kotipelto has the pleasing opportunity to do less bellowing and lets the songs breath while this still sounds like a working rock band. Where this Elements stuff would of taken the band eventually is anyones guess given what subsequently happened to the band.
Meh.....its ok, but nothing special.......2005-08-10
I was just introduced to Stratovarius not long ago from a friend. My friend showed me the song I'm Still Alive. I thought it was ok, and decided to investigate Stratovarius a little more. I then heard Speed of Light, and I also thought that song was ok. So I decided to buy my first Strato album. I headed down to the store, and only found elements pt 2, so I said "what the heck" and gave it a try. This is a mediocre album at best. It has some enjoyable tracks such as the album opener, I Walk to my Own Song, and I'm Still Alive. However, this album is just boring for the most part. This band has so much potential. Kotipelto can sing pretty good when he is in key, and Tolki is a good guitarist, but the songwriting is not good. This album is full of dumb lyrics. "Mr Mean you don't know Beans"-enough said. Don't get me wrong, this is an enjoyable album, but it isn't anything special. I rate this album 2.5 stars, but I'll use my rounding skills that I learned in 3rd grade and give it a 3.
"I am the dark and light / I am the day and night".......2005-01-28
this masterwork is a metaphor for the constant struggle between the ego and superego, a neverending battle between good and evil.
Ew, this album is really boring........2004-12-21
This album is mostly a let down, but it does have a couple decent moments, but first I'd like to comment on Stratovarius' current trend of music.
Timo Tolkki is not a very good songwriter for the most part. On every album Strato has done, Timo shines on about 2 or 3 songs, but the rest have become so formulatic it's laughable. (except for the mostly incredible Visions, which still dropped two turd tracks) Besides the one or two great tracks on the CD, you get a really fast, boring chord structure, pounding headache drums, with Timo Kotipelto soaring with hardly any melody over the mess of distortion. Of course, then Timo rips into a typical fast guitar solo. I could stick about tons of Strato songs that fit that category, and they all sound the same.
No Turning Back
The Rebel
Cold Winter Nights
Find Your Own Voice
Learning To Fly
Know The Difference
I'm Still Alive
Speed Of Light
Tomorrow
Millenium
Phoenix
Freedom
And that's off the top of my head. Timo also seems to write songs over again. Stratosphere, Stratofortress, Stratovarius, those three are the most laughable. Timo just throws the same crap over and over at us in EVERY album. The ballads are a bit more melodic, but still are formulatic. Sorry, but Timo has to step it up, because just listen to Father Time, Eagleheart, The Kiss Of Judas, and SOS. It's like he just comes out of no where and kicks us in the ass once in a while that he is a great songwriter, but then the rest of the album blows. C'mon Timo.
Onto Elements Part II. Although it is as boring as hell, it has a bit of charm since two of the songs have a good melody to them, or it could be the album artwork. The opening track Alpha and Omega has something about it that brings you back. A nice little chorus that has a sting to it. Walk To My Own song had tons of potential with a unique guitar lick at the beginnging, but something about it just made it suck. Maybe the unharmonized vocals, or the completly blown out vocals to the stupid lyrics "you don't know beans." I'm Still Alive went in the big song list of mine as usual songs. It has an almost decent chorus, but still a dumb song. Season Of Faith's Perfection is a Strato ballad, boring and uninspired. Awaken The Giant, Awaken The Giant, Awaken The Giant, whoopdee doo, this song is repetitive. Know The Difference is on my list, it's terrible. LUMINOUS!! This song is GREAT, melodic and soft. Very touching, undeniably the best written song on the album. Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver, whoopdee doo, boring. Liberty, kind of good, but Kotipelto sounds like a clown on it.
This album is boring. Very boring. As is Stratovarius. Timo has tons of potential to write a full album of great songs, let's see it. Don't get this one unless you are a completist.

Gotta' love this band........2006-02-06
While, "Puttin the Ass in Class" is a bit better than "Donkey Child Pt. 2" this album still rocks! I would reccomend it to any metalhead or rocker. Their sound is much like Dope, though their lyrics are quite origional! Bottom line: they ROCK!
And don't fall for this $40 for a CD. Just go to Cdbaby.com and buy it there for 7.99 plus s&h.
