5 out of 5 stars For those about to rock, you'll wanna play this one!.......2007-05-05

After listening to this album, I wonder why it is not considered as great a live album as it should be. Maybe it's because of the time it was released, but then again, if it were released several years earlier, it wouldn't have the same, great track selection. Anyway, this is a great album to have both for AC/DC fans and newcomers to the band. For newcomers, you get 23, excellent songs derived from every, popular album this band has enjoyed. For AC/DC fans, this can not only prove to be another, great one, but it may introduce you to some songs you might not have been familiar with (for me it was "Sin City" originally off of "Powerage", and "Who Made Who" off the album of the same name, among one or two others.)
It's hard to pick favorites, as all songs are great. However, you have the one-two combination of Sin City and Who Made Who, which I found to be a high-voltage delight, plus, a few songs at over ten minutes (High Voltage, Jailbreak and Let There Be Rock, the latter of the three being the best, IMO). There's the epic "For Those About To Rock, We Salute You", complete with the cannons, the sped-up "Whole Lotta Rosie" and beautiful "Bonny". All of the songs from The Razor's Edge are better here, and the Bon Scott numbers are certainly interesting sung by Brian Johnson. The only thing is that I wish there was enough space to add songs like "Have A Drink On Me", "Shake A Leg" (which I would highly anticipate hearing live) or "Inject The Venom" (released on "For Those About To Rock"). However, the track selection here is still great and there's a lot to love.
This is overall a strong and spirited album with great performances by every member of the band. However, at this point I would like to add that AC/DC's longest running drummer, Phil Rudd, is not on this album, nor The Razor's Edge. I personally prefer him over Chris Slade, as Phil added a bit more of a groove, but both guys prove to be great on the skins. If you want a generous helping of AC/DC, look for this album, among their earlier classics. Rock on!

5 out of 5 stars GREAT CD.......2007-02-13

AC/DC is one of the only bands that can perform there songs in concert as well or better than in studio. Most of there all time hits are on this cd as well as others that i never heard. This cd was well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars AC/DC LIVE.......2007-01-10

I also bought this CD for my grandson. He likes it, I guess, since I have not heard to the contrary.

5 out of 5 stars Possibly the greatest live rock album of all time!.......2007-01-04

The quintessential AC/DC recording. Much of this material comes from the mind-blowing Donington concert when the band was at their musical and energetic peak. Thunderstruck alone is worth the price of the CD. If you've never been into Acca Dacca, this is a great place to start. Crank it up loud though. If you play it while driving, be prepared to drive faster than usual. It's sure to happen...

5 out of 5 stars the best their is.......2006-12-11

I listen to ACDC all the time even when im doing my homework. at school my friend have to yell at me to turn it down. Frankly i think this album has the best selection of all the CDs ive heard including back in black all night long and hells bells but it could of included have a drink on me or Big balls. Alltogether this is the best their is

5 out of 5 stars This refers to the double CD limited edition version..........2007-05-22

This review refers to the double CD version. It has extra songs, most notably: "Sin City", "Jailbreak" and "Let There Be Rock". I would recommend purchasing that over the single CD version. You can't really replace Bon Scott for the songs that he did, but we must remember that Johnson is great for what he did in the band and he's still the one singing on ACDC's best selling CD to date, "Back in Black"... Johnson does well, in all fairness on covering the Scott tunes, but his voice is a lot different, much more shrill, but just as unique. Bottom line, Johnson is GREAT live and loses nothing of the power that is conveyed on the studio recordings. All band members are TIGHT and this CD is a high budget production with quality of sound. I didn't think Johnson could possibly sing that way live, but he does!

The only drawback is that some great songs were overlooked on this. There is nothing represented from "Flick of the Switch". I know that one was one of the worst selling CD's (even though all of their CD's did well), but they should really have included "Rising Power" and also from the CD "For Those About To Rock" they should have done "Let's Get It Up". That would have made this CD as perfect as it could have been with Brian Johnson on vocals. Nevertheless, there aren't any other glaring omissions and I don't think anyone who is a fan of the band can really argue it's five star rating!

4 out of 5 stars One of the Live Greats ****.......2006-03-27

This CD hasn't been recieved well in ANY circle; critics despise it, fans overlook it. The CD has fared best amongst the uninitiated, which was me back in 1992. My first three CD's were purchased at almost the same time: Metallica's "Black Album," Aerosmith's "Get a Grip," and AC/DC's "Live." I still love all those albums. It puzzles me that "Live" gets very little respect considering the high quality of the band's material. "Thunderstruck" is better live than on the "Razor's Edge." "Who Made Who" live is a total classic. "TNT" is very different from Bon's version, but not inferior. Sure, the "Back in Black" material is not as good as the original stuff, but the same is not true for the mid-80's-through-1990 songs.

Perhaps everyone is partial to the first incantation they remember from the band. A good majority of the fans, swear by Bon Scott's 70s version of AC/DC (something I've never been partial to). Many prefer Brian Johnson's 80s band. And both of those camps tend to ridicule the post 1991 stuff, myself included. After this album there was the Last Action Hero Soundtrack and a couple albums with three-star material at best. Then again, if that were true, "Live" captures AC/DC at the end of their stride, not their peak. Ahh, for me none of that matters. I think we're all fond of the first album we ever hear by a band, and this was mine for AC/DC. This is how I remember them.

Overall: 8 out of 10.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent, but collector's edition is probably a better buy........2005-09-07

First off, this is an excellent record which I would normally highly recommend. However, the collector's edition is, in my opinion, a much better choice.
As far as the actual music goes, it is by far one of my favorites. The live recordings capture the energy of AC/DC very well. In fact, I generally prefer the live versions to their original recorded versions. For anyone who is even marginally an AC/DC fan, or even just curious, the AC/DC live is a must have.
That said, the collectors edition's regular price is only an additional $4 (at the writing of this review it is discounted to $16.00). That additional $4 provides 9 extra songs which are not included on the one disc version. Therefore, it seems pointless to buy the one disc version.
Like I said, AC/DC is an amazing band, and their live recordings are even better. I just can't recommend this CD when a far better alternative exists.

5 out of 5 stars Great AC/DC album.......2004-06-17

I have been a fan of AC/DC for a while now but have never owned any of their albums. I saw this album in a store on sale so I decided to buy it. Man, this album is awesome. It takes their already awesome greatest hits and adds in the special factors that differentiate them from regular studio album tracks i.e. Brian Johnson talking to the audience, hearing the audience sing back, and a generally faster pace of the music.

I don't about you but I like hearing Johnson pump up the audience and in this case, the listeners of this CD. It is a great buy and will bring a sinful smile to anyone's face while getting you energized.

3 out of 5 stars AC/DC Live.......2004-06-13

Despite the fact that the band's best days were obviously behind them, a live album for AC/DC was all but completely necessary. After all, the group's first live release, If You Want Blood You've Got It, was recorded at a time when AC/DC was nothing more than a cult act who had yet to produce many of its future rock staples. Though recorded well into their career on the Razor's Edge 1991 tour, AC/DC Live surprisingly captures the hype and excitement that made AC/DC such a hit in their heyday. The set list wisely overlooks the songs from the band's mid-'80s slump and concentrates on hard rock hits such as "Hells Bells," "Back in Black," "Highway to Hell," and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." Brian Johnson's voice may not be as strong as in the early '80s, but he still sounds competent in his role. All too often, a live album is a cheaply made, rushed recording that only serves as a testament to a band's decline. AC/DC Live, however, shows what makes this band different from their peers -- here they are still entirely capable of pulling off a great live show. This ranks among the best live metal albums of the '90s.

5 out of 5 stars too good for words.......2007-07-18

if you want to know what a band really sounds like then buy a live cut and find out as they are unpolished by the studio. these tracks sound just as good or better than their studio albums. in fact, this is my fav ac/dc album. most of the greats are here, no filler just in your face rock. a superb record from one of the greats rock bands of all time.

5 out of 5 stars AC/DC A- live and kickin .......2007-06-15

AC/DC live is an outstanding band no matter what genre you listen to.This CDhas all of the greatest hits, including Back in Black,High way to Hell,Hells bells, TNT,and many many more. This is the Titanic of CDs .Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young on guitar and bass are a perfect together to get the crowed pumped .I would recommed this CD to any one who likes classical hard rock music.BUY IT.......

4 out of 5 stars A taste of the greatness of AC/DC live, single disc style........2006-11-08

This is the single disc version of AC/DC live release in 1992 recorded on the popular "Razor's Edge" tour. This song take the best song of the original 2 disc version of this live set. This disc provides a good snipit of the full picture, but hardcore fan would be rocommended to spend the couple bucks extra to get the two disc version. Regular fans, this has the live songs you could be content with, the biggest ones. So enjoy this piece of AC/DC history. Don't forget about the Bonfire box set for a good collection of Bon Scott era live recording.

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE FINEST LIVE ALBUMS.......2006-08-09

I CANT STOP STRESSING HOW GOOD THIS LIVE ALBUM IS,AS IT IS ACTUALLY A GREATEST HITS COLLECTION WHICH IS BEING PLAYED LIVE.THIS IS THE BEST LIVE ALBUM FROM THIS GREAT HARD ROCK BAND WITH BRIAN JOHNSON WITH ANGUS YOUNG PLAYING AT HIS BEST.THIS ONE SHOULD NOT BE MISSED AT ALL.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

2 out of 5 stars Disapointing.......2006-08-05

There are good and bad things about this album.

I'll start out with the good things. AC/DC has proven that they can put on a good live show, and some of the songs on here are almost as good as the studio versions.

However, concerts are more fun to go to than they are to listen to in your room, something that is very obvious here. This would have been a fun concert to go to, but listening to it can get boring. Brian Johnson's voice is not very good live, and it distracts you from the music in the background.

The live versions of their songs butcher the original songs, like Back in Black, Highway to Hell, and most of the good songs. However, TNT and Whole Lot of Rosie sound pretty good live, even though Bon Scott isn't singing them.

This is very passable. I only recommend this to AC/DC completists.

If you like AC/DC, get Highway to Hell, Back in Black, High Voltage, Let There Be Rock, and the other Bon Scott albums. Most of the Brian Johnson era is passable, with the exception of Back In Black.

4 out of 5 stars Malcolm Fan.......2007-05-12

What I like most about AB/CD is the solid rhythm tracks that provide the back bone of this band. Dirty Deeds, TNT, High Voltage and many others have a solid rhythmic riff coming from the rhythm guitar. As a beginning guitar player, it's fun to play along as most of the rhythm guitar parts are relative easy and fun to play.

AB/CD doesn't have a "best of" CD available so this is about as close as one gets.

The sound is good. It's not drowned out by audience noise, and all the instruments are in synch. Even if you already have the studio work, there are some classic jams that make getting this CD worth it. Jailbreak and High Voltage have some extended jam sessions with Malcolm providing the rhythm and Angus gettin' on down on the SG.

5 out of 5 stars Great Live AC/DC, when they ruled the rock roost.......2006-11-08

This double live album was release after recording it on their highly successful "Razor's edge" tour. AC/DC was at another high point with the release of that album, and they cashed in big with this awesome live set. Brian johnson tears it up, and angus is kicking away as usual on guitar. Classic AC/DC capturing their live spirit, You must have two disc version for any fan. For Bon scott era Live music, pick up the Bonfire box set. You get 3 Bon Scott live albums, a rare/demo disc, and Back in back, a great value.

5 out of 5 stars IN 1992 AC/DC RULED THE PLANET!.......2005-11-02

Its true. Some may say it was in 1980 but they are wrong. It was in 1992. These guys were fresh off their extensive tour that backed the 1990 RAZORS EDGE album that tore everything up. This may be considered AC/DC's finest tour ever (unless you are like me and completley loyal to BON-but still, I think this was a damn incredible tour, as far as this disc proves.)
The early nineties don't get credited for it but I think it was the time when ROCK really reigned supreme. Every type of rock, old, new, grunge, hair, metal.... It all came together, and at the helm was AC/DC.
BRIAN JOHNSON (although he fronted BACK IN BLACK) still had never earned the respect of most BON SCOTT fans until this live album came out. This is where he proved that he could do the BON songs justice SIN CITY, WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE, LET THERE BE ROCK, just to name a few.
The band also busted out some of the not-so-killer eighties material in a new loud and ass crunching style THATS THE WAY I WANT MY ROCK AND ROLL and HEATSEEKER.. check those out.
And not to mention the blazing tracks just turn it up several more notches and the energy is CRAAAAAAZY on everything.
AC/DC weren't getting old in '92, it sounded like they were just getting ready!
This collectors set is key. DO NOT get the single disc, they should take it off the marrket now that this one is available.. IT has so much more stuff, and when you realize how GOOD it really is.. you will understand.
I bitch a lot about how AC/DC screws the american consumers; on this album though.. they did us solid, god bless.

5 out of 5 stars By far AC/DC's best CD........2004-12-04

This CD is a jam packed 23 song Live album. It is almost like a greatest hits album, but live. This collector's edition version is better because the one that isn't has only 14 songs. So I suggest buy this album if you want their best album ever and buy it instead of the normal AC/DC Live CD which has 9 songs less.
Every Song on this CD would get a 10/10, but the best songs are Back In Black, Thunderstruck, TNT, For Those about To Rock (We Salute You), Let There Be Rock, The Razors Edge, Who Made Who, Highway To Hell, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Jailbreak.
This is a definite must buy for rock lovers and people getting into rock.

5 out of 5 stars Best live album. Ever........2004-08-23

When I bought this cd, i had already been an acdc fan, but i wasn't very in to them. Then i popped this cd into my sterio and i was immediatly hooked by the incredible guitar playing and chanting of thunderstruck. I kept listening to find the best guitar playing you could possibly hear, and just the sheer power of acdc live. I had listend to there recorded stuff before, but it was nothing in comparison to acdc live. The recorded music seemed bland compared to this. Here is a list of the top 5 tracks from each disk.

-Thunderstruck(track 1, disk 1) an incredible start to the album.

-Back in Black(track 3, dist 1) i can't get enough of this song.

-Sin City(track 4, disk 1) Johnson hits the volcals perfectly. the guitar solo blows me away.

-Who made who(track 5, disk 1) great song. Period.

-Money Talks(track 12, disk 1) more melodic than most of there songs. The chorus is so great though.

-Hells Bells(track 1, disk 2) One of the greatset works of acdc. Sounds soooo good live.

-You shook me all night long(track 5, disk 2) A melodic masterpiece of heavy rock.

-Highway to Hell(track 9, disk 2) I simply love this one.

-TNT(track 10, disk 2) My favorite acdc song. The crowd chanting Oui! gives the song a great feel

-For those about to rock(track 11, disk 2) A great end to a great cd.

If you are reading this reveiw you are taking to long. Go buy this cd!!!

    5 out of 5 stars A Classic.......2005-12-23

Mike Farris is one of Rock's best singer/songwriters and it seems that nobody knows it. Although this solo effort is much more subdued than his work with his former band - the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies - it might just be his best. The acoustic guitar work allows the listener to really absorb and appreciate his soulful, moving vocals as well as his lyric writing talents. There are so many great songs on this cd. It would be the perfect selection for a long drive through the countryside or through mountains on a warm sunny day. Enjoy!

Poor of me! I missed his two concerts in Spain this year, I think the only thing I can do is put on "Know Good Know How" on my car-cd and drive hundreds miles watchin' the sky and smile...

I have had the pleasure of also seeing them live and he sounds just as good live as he does on the albums if not better.
