When I first heard this CD, I hated it with a passion that I usually reserve for the likes of Britney or her ilk. Listening to HammerFall's Threshold and Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken, I decided to give "Delirium Veil" another go.

Mixing pure power metal with some high-pitched vocals and wailing keyboards, this Finnish crew certainly pound out some fast-paced music. The vocalist's range is exceptional and he manages to carry the pitch throughout, without losing any of the richness to his voice.

The musicianship is excellent, the group being a tight performance group and carrying the melody and beats well. With a renewed appreciation of the technical qualities of good power metal, I could get into this music a bit more than previously.

For this part-time deather, "Delirium Veil" is actually fairly good. I enjoyed it heaps and still give it a good pounding. If power metal is your thing, this should be in your collection.

If you've been searching for some great new power metal to listen to, look no further. Twilightning has aspects that fans from Van Halen to Sonata Arctica will enjoy. A little hair metal, a little progressive and a lot of power, the musicianship is phenomenal. Ville Wallenius leads the guitar onslaught with hooks and riffs reminiscent of Dragonforce's Herman Li, and Heikko Poyhiaa belts out some amazing vocals in the vein of Dragonland's Jonas Heidgert. This is very typical of what the majority of Finnish metal bands sound like, so if you're into Sonata Arctica, Thunderstone, Stratovarius or Dreamtale, this will definately please you. Together with the elements of power metal, there are a few nods to 80's hair metal bands thrown in here. Listening to some of the choruses and melodies, you'd think you were hearing a new version of Bon Jovi or Europe, only cranked up a notch. The musicianship is outstanding and the album has no audible flaws whatsoever--these guys were striving for perfection, and they achieved it. There are plenty of progressive passages to appease even fans of Dream Theater and Rhapsody, too. No matter what type of metal you're into, there's something here for you, and as long as you like it fast, loud and melodic, you will not be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Contenders for the future Finnish power metal throne.......2004-12-09

Twilightning, these guys have become my favorite power metal band. I used to herald Sonata Arctica, Avantasia, Stratovarius, and Symphony X as my top favs, and they still are. But now Twilightning rockets to the top of my list after Dragonforce joined their ranks. Glorious sonic power! NOTHING will compare to the lightning fast guitar work of Dragonforce but Twilighting comes close. Where Dragonforce falters a bit is insane speed and while it blows you away with sheer force the melodic partion of it could use a bit of tweaking. This is where Twilightning shines. Catchy, addictive, powerful, polished melodies, perfect timing and an awesome lead singer. Their drummer varies it up so it doesnt get old, and while teh keyboards play second bananna on this album, resorting to passive roles, it's almost everthing you could ask for from a power metal band. My only beef is that the lyrics need work, i sense a powerful message but i can't see it, the lyrics are somewhat incoherent at times and seem meaningless at points... and yet they use words like lubricious but then mispronounce them. I'll cut them some slack since they have only been around a little more than a year at this writing, this being their debut CD and that they are Finnish. They need english classes though. But in all honesty, these guys could be singing about how teh dog chewed up the newspaper and then going out for beers and it would still rock hard. Go to their website and listen to their songclips, namely "To The Wall" if you arent hooked you are deaf, you wont be sorry.
