Roberto Carlos is the ultimate romantic. His songs charm the hearts of many in love with love. The ones included in this collection are his greatest and most famous ones. It's immaculate.

I first heard Roberto Carlos in Spain because my mom used to listen to his music. His music is like they say in spain, maravillosa y romantica que toca el corazon profundamente.

I first heard Roberto Carlos in the late 1980s when I was dating a fan of his from Monterrey. She sang his praises, but I was sceptical until we saw him in concert and I became a Roberto Carlos convert.
I never had any albums or CDs of his before, but did have a 120 minute cassette that her sister's boyfriend recorded for me. I listened to it fairly often over the years and recently decided to buy a CD since the tape was getting old. But where to start? He had unfortunately written down no song titles but I knew which ones I liked. So I settled on 30 Grandes Canciones to start.
OK, there are a lot of great songs here. Carlos has the right voice for romantic song and this CD is full of romance. But there are also a few dogs.
Let's start with my favorites. Most of them turned out to be songs I knew from the late 1980s and early 1990s. There are several of which I will never tire: Detalles, Si El Amor Se Va, and Amigo. Then there are those I like quite a bit: La Distancia, Que Sera de Ti, Cama y Mesa, Lady Laura, and El Gato Que Esta Triste Y Azul. Most of the rest I can take or leave. Carlos' voice is really at his best on those mentioned above.
A couple of stars are knocked off by the inclusion of a couple insipid numbers I detest. I never have liked Un Millon de Amigos or La Montana, but the crown for the cheesiest song on the album goes to Simbolo Sexual. The vocals and the arrangement are downright jejune!
Despite those few songs, I recommend 30 Grandes Canciones to anyone who would like a sampling of the work of a very suave and debonair Roberto Carlos.

In Brazil, Roberto Carlos is called "The King", your voice and passion is a great influence for millions people around the world. This album show the why. You will undertand because the King sold 80 millions of records around the world.

I followed Roberto Carlos for over 35 years of my life and until today I am still a fan. I've collected many of his songs in all formats. His voice is so beautiful in whichever language he sings. He gives everything into any song he sings. The writing and the meaning are very simple and to the point, yet strong and effective. He is an ageless singer who brought romance into everyone's life. His songs identified in all walks of life to all of us. To so many of us he is irreplaceable...I just love him so much! What a great artist and a legend!

The poor review is not at all due to Jorge Drexler's music, which is excellent. The poor review is due to the Copy Controls installed by EMI. First off, it will not play on any computer media player. If you want to listen to this CD on your computer, you must install their proprietary player. This may seem inoffensive, but consider that you will not be able to rip the tracks into your computer and play them later. You will have to pop in the CD if you want to listen to it.

Secondly, and most importantly, this disc does not contain CD-quality music! This is evident the second you start listening to it. After you install the player, it will reproduce tracks encoded at 128 kbps. CDs play at 1,410 kbps --that's over 10 times better!

If I wanted a 128kbps file I would have downloaded them from the Internet, not bought the CD! Essentially you are paying for a CD but getting, well just low quality sound. Record companies should disclaim these facts BEFORE you buy the CD, and Amazon or any other retailer should also make that information available to the consumer.

I am highly dissapointed with my purchase.

My almost two-year old daughter loves the Parchis music and signs and dances to the songs. As I try to teach my daughter Spanish I count this DVD as a way of showing Spanish in another context. Also I think these young performers teach kid power.

The production quality is not great (for example, a camera man stands directly behind them in one of their performances) but this is part of the charm. The DVD includes songs they sang at various TV shows and even in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico. (I have seen pictures of a sold out concert there but the video shows the stadium only half full. Maybe it was a second concert.) The videos are taken towards the end of the group's run, when some were almost teenagers. The dance routines are OK by today's standards. The DVD menu is slow to come up and not entirely user friendly. The best thing is to just hit play and let all of the songs play.

Some great songs are of course the Parchis Song, Don Diablo (that very fun Miguel Bose song), Un Rayo de Sol, Hola Amigos, La Plaga, etc., etc.

We have been teaching our daughter that each of the Parchis members represents a different color on the Parchis board. The lead singer is la Ficha Roja (the red token). The two girls are la Ficha Amarilla (always very enthusiastic) and la Ficha Verde (her level of interest and energy in the songs she sings varies a lot). The two little kids are la Ficha Azul and the one in white , which I guess is not technically a ficha. These two are very energetic and fun to watch.
