3 out of 5 stars it's ok...........2006-12-28

this is a pretty good record. i play guitar and i heard these guys have "crazy guitar work" so i picked it up. i gave it a few listens, and although it's really fast it's not that technical. the songs are all good songs though for just like straight up "thrash metal" i guess you could call it. it's like killswitch engage but actually good, and they keep it heavy throughout the cd. if you were into city of the catepillar, and you think because these guys have members that they'll sound like cotc you're wrong, but if you're into slayer, maiden, or just fast metal in general you'll probably be into this band/album.

5 out of 5 stars Golden.......2006-07-12

Darkest Hour is great Gothenburg-influenced melodic metal that gets the blood rushing and leaves the listener pleased. They're not like every other metalcore band these days. Hell, they really ain't "metalcore". They tend to lay off the breakdowns and focus more on speed and melody. More thrash, less "core".

Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2006-01-06

Wow...what can I say. This album is amazing. The first Darkest Hour CD that I bought was Undoing Ruin, which I thought was pretty damn good. So then I went and bought their older CD, Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation. Holy crap do I love this CD. It really doesn't sound much like Undoing Ruin actually, but I like it better.
Hidden Hands is a WHOLE HOUR of pure thrashcore energy. I was amazed that each song is four or more minutes long -- none of it is filler either. Each and every song has so much energy behind it, I don't know how the band memebers are able to pull it off without dying of exhaustion. I die of exhaustion every time I hear "Oklahoma". Whenever I hear that song, I can't help but just bang my head to the full four minutes of it.
While Undoing Ruin is great on record, Hidden Hands also captures the essence of a live show.

3 out of 5 stars I dont know why.......2005-06-26

I just cant seem to want to listen to it. Its good music and all but I never want to listen to it. If you like darkest hours other stuff you should get this.

5 out of 5 stars I've been punched in the face..............2005-06-18

.... by the metal gods Darkest Hour. And I love every minute of it!!! This has instantly vaulted its way right up the list of my favorite melodic death albums and has a permanent position behind At The Gates SOTS. Hell, this is the closest sounding thing I've probably ever heard to that album anyway. Some people had originally told me that this is a metalcore band, but unless the other Gothenburg bands are metalcore, then these people are dead wrong. This album is so punishing, it is difficult to listen to without flipping out. The drums are beyond insane, blindingly fast and precise. The vocals are brutal, very acidic, and just plain awesome. The guitar riffs shred mercilessly, but have a gentle touch due to the melodic tones. Every song is a winner, but the epic Accessible Losses and Pay Phones & Pills stand out the most. Go buy, a must have for any melodeath collection.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest Album EVER.......2007-04-18

This album by Darkest Hour is probably the best album I have ever heard. They are pretty much the best band on the planet. Anyone who rates this album poorly is deaf. Seven Day Lie is a stand out song but the whole album is great. I listen to it everyday. Buy it now if you want to change for life.

    2 out of 5 stars Dissapointment.......2006-12-28

I guess I was expecting something more after hearing a few songs by Darkest Hour, namely The Patriot Virus and Sadist Nation. Most of this album is tedious and boring. I think this band is for teenagers that want to listen to hard music, but don't know any better. There are way too many mediocre metal bands out there, and this is one of them.

    Sadist Nation 4/5
    Pay Phones and Pills 2/5
    Oklahoma 1/5
Marching to the Killing Rhythm 3/5
    Misinformation Age 2/5
    Seven Day Lie 2/5
    Accessible Losses 3/5
Patriot Virus 5/5 their best song
    Veritas, Aequitas 0/5 pointless

4 out of 5 stars Loud and a mix of death metal........2004-12-20

Hidden hands of a sadist nation isn't a bad album. This being thier fourth album they've done a pretty well job of throwing down on the recording. There are alot of polotical view's from the bands perspective. It's a combination of death metal and hardcore. The opening song "the sadist nation" f*cking breaks your ears with angry metal. The songs are a bit similar at times from the rhythm of guitar's to some of the drum work performed. These guys don't mess around when it comes to sending a message. The song oklahoma is very intersting to listen to as the point stands out this band was arrested and held for hours in oklahoma by the feds for crimes they had not commited. Yes it is a bit hard to understand the lead singer's screams but give it a few run arounds. Its not that bad of a cd, other songs like vertitas, aequitas and for the soul of the savior are great tracks of just instrumental work. I highly recommend this album to anyone in the hardcore or metal scene. You won't be dissappointed.

2 out of 5 stars A NOISY, VOICELESS ALBUM. With a bonus DVD!.......2004-11-18

NOISY, it is the type of metal that want to be heavy, the bad ones, the "Darkest", and the only thing they do is to play there instruments like animals and without any skill.

VOICELESS, it vocalist only screams without sense, or understanding what he is saying.

This have a sticker that says "Limited edition with a bonus DVD, and a bonus track"

The DVD is a homevideo that they make with little pieces of concerts and "Sadist Nation" live from "HellFest", with garbage live song played like in a garage.

I put two stars because some people like these bands, but the quality of the recording, instruments and "Bonus DVD" for my opinion are so bad that it should have 0 stars

5 out of 5 stars Political Views with a hardcore and metal mix=Winning combo!.......2004-10-27

I just bought this cd today and i have to say that its the most unrelenting and brutal that I've ever heard. I know some people may disagree with their different points of view but this cd kicks undeniable ass! The singer is brutal and is familiar to Atreyu's Varkatzas but doesnt have so much of the guttural scream but still manages to conjure up strong feelings. The music is good and unlike most hardcore bands that use punk riffs this band goes for your balls with heavy metal riffs. This cd is varied and I love their musical lyrics. Now before you dismiss this band because of their political beliefs just realize of the times and era. Where living in a world of lies and these guys are singing and playing in what they believe in. This isnt a bad thing at all. And if you read the inside of the lyric pamphlet it hard not to agree with them. All in all this is one of the best cds Ive heard this year. Rock on!
