Album Description
The melodic hard rocking band Fifth Angel released this, their second album, in 1988 to an appreciative public. Today critics declare that the group was always underrated. Out of print for many years, this album is filled with the heavy metal and hard rock which made the group famous on tunes such as Cathedral, Midnight Love, and We Rule. 12 tracks.
Customer Reviews:
Final Offering.......2006-08-01
1988's Time Will Tell is the second and final album by Fifth Angel. On the band's self-titled debut album, Fifth Angel took the American power metal sound and injected it with plenty of melody, toning down the fist-raising aggression in favor of a more accessible approach. The result was highly melodic, but it was still unmistakably power metal. On Time Will Tell, the band edged further towards the melodic side, perhaps in an attempt to reach a wider audience. Songs like Midnight Love, Broken Dreams, and Feel the Heat certainly weren't targeting the power metal crowd, though their version of the UFO classic Lights Out was a nice nod to the old school.
Time Will Tell is still a better than average melodic metal album, but the band's watered down approach ended up alienating die-hard metal fans and at the same time failed to bring many new fans to the Fifth Angel flock. The band ended up calling it a day soon after.
Solid rock with great guitar and vocals.......2006-01-12
I got this CD because I remembered the song "Midnight Love" as the theme for the Howard Stern TV show in the 90's. There are terrific vocals throughout the disc and the guitar work is outstanding too. Worth checking this band out.
Fifth Angel : "Time Will Tell".......2004-07-01
Not as solid as their debut in my opinion. It's still very good, and has that great melodic FA feel, but the songs just don't have as much content as their debut, and they seem to be leaning towards the cheesier taste of Metal here....
I absolutely loved Fifth Angel, the debut, but for some reason this just isn't up to thei standards as far as keeping the listener interested. The songs are just too "cream filled"....
3 1/2 Stars....
UP THE IRONS!!!
TIME HAS TOLD:FIFTH ANGEL RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2002-04-03
Time Will Tell is the (sadly)last Fifth Angel album, and once again a musthave heavy metal milestone just like their debut album.
I've heard of many people blaming TWT cause it lacks of musical variety, but I can't agree that:in my opinion every track has it's mood and only a few of 80 mainsteam metal songs are present(Midnight Love,Time Will Tell or Feel The Heat)but all the rest sounds as only Fifth Angel can.
How can be forgotten songs like the devastating We Rule(the closest track to their original sound),Wait For Me,Seven Hours, and the two great ballads Broken Dreams and So Long?
Ted Pilot sings even better than before and his vocal melodies are always amazing,Ken Mary performs great drums patterns, very brainy, constantly focusing on the details of his figurations
and the new comer Kendall Betchell plays his guitar as good as James Byrd before him, shredding all the time without forgetting to provide anthemic tunes and explosive riffs with Ed Archer.
Don't mind who considers this album a failure,'cause Fifth Angel class speaks by itself and this album holds 11 of the best metal songs of all time and a high quality songwriting.
Would you expect less from a legendary band called Fifth Angel?
Bang Yer Freakin' Head.......2002-03-18
Fifth Angel's second album is less musically diverse than their
first. Still, it's a more solid effort. The problem is that all
of the songs really sound quite similar, as if they were trying
to evolve the one perfect metal song and nothing else, so to say,
mattered. Bit of this are bland and mechanical. It's too easy
to pick out some of their influences: Iron Maiden, for one (just
listen to "Seven Hours", then "Two Minutes to Midnight", and
Dokken (harmony vocals on "Feel the Heat" owe much to "In My
Dreams"). Every song is in a minor key, or ends up there, and
the traditional chord changes abound. On top of that, you really
can't listen to this whole album all at once without getting
sore ears, and they did a lifeless cover of UFO's "Lights Out".
Still, this is a very solid genre record, especially if you
take it in small doses. "Feel the Heat" and "Midnight Love"
are standouts. The guitar work is excellent throughout and not
to be missed, and there is some good drumming. Guitar tones are
crunchy, and the singer is very melodic, as far as these things
go. The drum sounds as recorded are full and rich. And most of
all, when they rock, they rock. So if you like The Heavy Metal,
and you want to remember the 80s with something heavier than
White Sister, this one's for you.
Interesting side note: the liner notes say that the band broke
up WHEN THE DRUMMER QUIT. When did THAT ever matter?
P.S. Kidd Thunder, whatup.

Album Description
Fifth Angel was one of the most dynamic live performers of the 1980's - their amazing live sets prompted Epic to sign the group in 1986. This original album stayed on the Billboard charts for thirteen weeks in 1988 and is filled with the powerful - yet melodic - rock that the group is known for, including In The Fallout, Cry Out The Fools, and Fade to Flames. 9 tracks.
Customer Reviews:
Essential Power Metal Album.......2006-07-26
The 1986 self-titled debut album by Fifth Angel is one of those albums that went largely unnoticed at the time, but is spoken of with almost religious awe by those who did find it. These are the folks who inevitably say "Oh, you're into (insert band name here)? You have to try Fifth Angel!" I was handed this album, as well as Crimson Glory's Transcendence and Black Sabbath's TYR by a good friend a few years back, and the three albums have become the benchmarks for how I view all other power metal albums.
Fifth Angel took the American power metal sound and injected it with plenty of melody, toning down the fist-raising aggression in favor of a more accessible approach. Think Warlord or perhaps Armored Saint merged with Dokken. The result was highly melodic, but it was still unmistakably power metal. Fifth Angel may have had a lighter touch than say, Omen, but they weren't some ballad-spewing hair metal band either. A look at the track listing for this album confirms that the band was solidly in the metal camp.
It's been two decades since Fifth Angel's debut was released, and the album has lost none of its power. The band's early fans still revere the album as a classic moment in metal, and continue to bring new converts to the Fifth Angel flock. For my part, I'll recommend this to anyone who is into power metal, especially those who enjoy the classic American power metal sound.
Ol' Man what a Classic!!!.......2006-07-18
Very Catchy, hook laden 80's Heavy Metal.
This band stands out because of there lyrics and guitar work. This is a true Metal collectable and stood the test of time; another gem, I wish this band had put out more stuff. To bad.
This is another must buy {both there albums are a must}
............................
Here is commercial metal done very right and not the sell out type stuff you get most every time.
Amazing masterpiece.......2005-04-10
Anyone who knows anything about the history of heavy metal remembers how groundbreaking and astouding Seattle metal pioneers QUEENSRYCHE were back in the early and mid-80s.
Well, FIFTH ANGEL took them to school in Seattle during a "Battle of the Bands" competition in 1980, which should go a long way in assessing the talent of this unheralded group.
Although FIFTH ANGEL signed a major record deal later than Queensryche, FIFTH ANGEL's self-titled record was nothing short of brilliant. The Don Dokken-esque lead vocals, combined with the pounding rhythm of Ken Mary and guitar legend James Byrd resulted in an album well ahead of its time.
Unlike many of their peers, FIFTH ANGEL's brand of metal was very themeatic. The album is a story - not a concept, but songs based on a central theme of nuclear war.
Although FIFTH ANGEL never got the recognition they deserved, and their second album was molded into a commercial metal record, this first self-titled album was one of the best metal albums in the 80s.
A MUST FOR METAL FANS.......2004-03-28
This disc is a very underated mark in the 80's metal world. It has every element (and more) that makes up a great album. Awesome guitars, awesome vocals, awesome drums and awesome sound. Each song is much different from each other so listening is always a pleasure.
This is a top 5 metal album for me, It frustrates me that a band can put out something so GREAT and not go as far as it deserves with it.
Please buy it, I sware you'll agree with me that it it one of the best metal albums to date.
MAJOR...ALBUM.......2003-04-16
I didn't get into metal until late in the '80s so I missed this one the first time around. Luckily, one of the power rock stations on the DISH ran some of the tracks off this cd and I was hooked immediately. This band seems to be more "visual" than the others; you could almost see what they are singing about. Even without MTV, these guys should get the recognition they deserve. I bought this CD as an import, and even at the higher price it was worth it. "Cry Out The Fools" became my second favorite song of all time (after "Still of the Night"), and the rest certainly kick ass. Get it, you won't regret it!!!

Fifth Angel:riding on the wings of destiny...........2001-11-10
Buy it,buy it buy it!
This is the cult debut album of this band from Seattle and since from the powerful opener In the fallout, Fifth Angel will annihilate you with their ultra heavy sound!
This truly masterpiece holds nine of the most epic metal song you will ever heard(believe me boys,Manowar cannot compete)and through mid-tempos like the title-track,Wings of destiny, Cry out the fools and speed songs as Call of the warning and The night(listen to that great guitar riff!!!)the band really makes the difference!
Evocative lead vocalist Ted Pilot, young but already decisive guitar hero James Byrd and superb drummer Ken Mary(by the way this album has one of the most powerful drums sound of all time;Terry Date rules!!!)will show you a lesson of style you won't forget easily....
Once again buy this item, the greatest mistake you could do is to ignore it!!!
An 80's Power Metal Classic.......2001-10-06
I think Fifth Angel cranks!!!....
There is not one bad song on this CD. It's very melodic, and powerful. If your a fan of Metal, you should add this to your collection. It's a classic in my opinion. At a time when Metal was moving into a more "speed" era, this was a very strong release.....
I give it 4 1/2 stars.....A very powerful CD with great songs, makes this a must for any Heavy Metal fan.

80's Metal at it's best.......2000-04-16
Back in the 80's I would buy almost every metal album that got released. Of course some were disappointments, but this one isn't even close. I wasn't sure if this band could top their first release, but they did. This was an overlooked band whose music never got the recognition it deserved. Both albums are a must for a metal fan's collection.
This is my #1 favorite album (I'm not kidding)!.......2000-04-09
I really don't know how these guys did it. They're music seems simple, but when I try to play along, it so difficult. I don't know what it is in this metal music, but every song is well written, and it's the only album I've played constantly without getting sick of it. If I were a dictator, I'd force the US to reissue this album. Metal fans will not be disappointed (it's worth the 27 bucks!)
