AWESOME POWER METAL, WITH A HEAVY EDGE!!!.......2005-02-21
This CD is absolutley awesome, its power metal to the core, the lyrics are ferocious and the songs are well aranged.
-The singer is really talented and consistant, he also manages not to sound like a woman when he hits those high notes!!(no offence to other PM bands, it goes with the territory!)
-The guitar work is genuinley awesome, with great melodies and riffs that leave u feeling like youve just been hit in the face repeatedley, but for some reason it feels really, really good!!
-the drummer sometimes adds fills (or tries to) that are a bit too extravagant, and are faster than the song requires, but he is none the less awesome!!, i play drums so i know just how hard it is to play what is here on this album! he is one hell of a double kick player!!!, brill!
-Bass player is steady, not given much room for expression but adds neat fills and is clearly heard, (something which is disappearing in metal)
I am a massive Power Metal/Metal fan, my tastes range from Hammerfall(awesome), blind guardian(awesome!), iced earth(awesome!), rhapsody(awesome!), and of course the daddies of power metal, ManOwaR(All Hail). to Megadeth, pantera, iron maiden, machinehead, G n R, pre 1994 metallica, testament, Mushroomhead, Lordi, Saxon, Anthrax and others. My taste in metal/rock, has quite a spectrum, this band will make a excellent addition to my collection. I reccommend all of the above, every album is further proof of metals dominance and superiority over other 'NU', and 'RAP METAL' genres, 'DEATH TO FALSE METAL!'(ManOwaR, gods of metal)
Track REVIEW:
Calling from hell 10/10 - Brilliant power anthem
Eternal Flame 9.8/10 - power metal 101, awesome!
Lords of pain 10/10 - one of my favs, KILL!
Sign of the cross 10/10 - Brilliant guitar work
Night of the storm 10/10 - Another fav, awesome Metal!
The traveller ? - brilliant but much, much too short!, could have been a classic!
In Your Sins 11/10 - awesome track, guitar towards the end is tearjerkingly good and heartfelt, solo absolutely AWESOME
Forgotten Soul 9.8/10 - evil intro guitar, remeniecent of the mighty MACHINE HEAD at parts, cool track
When Demons Return 9.7/10 - awesome intro guitar, drummer seems to rush a bit at parts, Awesome none the less!
Regressus/Lost in Time 10/10 - Intro is spinechilling, really! Power, Metal and Might!
Mystic Prophecy 9.7/10 - Drone thumping kick snare drumming, love the double kick on this one!, more metal than power.
The Land of the Dead /10 - another double kick masterclass(hes pretty good at this!), heavy cool song!!
Great Album!!!.......2004-11-23
Ok yes we have heard this before...Honestly nothing new true...But honestly the cd is quite impressive...Hey the guys have Gus G axing those guitars...The vocals are quite good and memorable...The music is strong, well written and very well executed...Just listen to the first 3 tracks specially Lords of Pain...What an intro...After that song the cd follows basically the same path of hard edge power metal...If you like a better version of Brainstorm go ahead and buy this cd...
Great Metal Band.......2004-09-09
I bought this cd and i love it the sound is very clear and powerfull my favorite song is "Calling from Hell" awesome band..
Definition of Mediocre Power Metal.......2003-11-01
Well, my title pretty much explains this review. I burned this CD from my friend thats more into power metal, but he doesnt like it that much, and i like to think i know whats good in that genre, this CD isnt bad, but its definitely far from good. Why would you take blind guardian or iced earth out of your CD player for a second to listen to this? It's just a tribute to those bands but worse, enough said i think.
Pulse Pounding Power.......2003-07-13
I just got the promo of Regressus and now I wish I
had gotten the regular CD. Regressus is incredible
Power Metal Excellence. On a scale of amazons' 1 to 5
it is a 10. No keys here my friend. Just rippin power/
heavy/speed Metal. Lyrically it is very aggressive as well.
Comparisons could be made musically to bands like Iced Earth
(at their best) and Gus G,s other band Firewind. But Regressus
takes it to a more powerful higher level. And the production
is over the top. The sound these guys got on this one will
punish you. As Arnold would say "If you do not listen....
Then the He** with You".
