Customer Reviews:
Feel the Endless Pain.......2007-03-24
It was among the best and unique releases at that time. It sounded more like death metal but changed with Pleasure to Kill (vocals).
Absolute great album. Would have given it 5 stars if it had better sound. Bit unrefined and harsh.
Pretty awesome debut (90%).......2006-09-13
This is Kreator's raw and gritty debut album. Out of the 'klassic Kreator' albums this definitely has the worst production but as you know I never really complain about that. The only complaint I have is that some of the songs just seem a tad underdeveloped for me, especially once you know how f*cking amazing they would become on their subsequent albums.
For example some of the songs from their early demo days as the band Tormentor are here and aren't quite up to par with what Kreator would produce. Songs like 'Tormentor', 'Cry War', and 'Dying Victims' are a little boring if you ask me. HOWEVER, the album is definitely not without some serious thrashers. The first three songs are an 'extreme thrash' assault to the dome! Endless Pain and Total Death have that Kreator touch written all over it, the latter having an awesome and memorable main riff. Storm of the Beast ain't exactly a slouch either continuing the evilness, the main verse riff is quite (warning bad pun coming up) BEASTLY. But then the album gets a little inconsistent. I can't forget about "Flag of Hate" with Mille's scathing vocals and great chorus, although a better version is on the Flag of Hate EP which is on the Pleasure to Kill remaster. Another thing I noticed is that some of these songs even have a Show No Mercy/Kill Em All kinda feel to them (Living In Fear and Son of Evil) which is pretty awesome considering those are some of the best metal debuts ever.
One unique thing about Kreator is their idea to have two vocalists to mix things up a bit which I think is a killer idea. Ventor (their drummer) does all the odd-numbered songs while Mille does the evens. Their lucky to have two bad*ss vocalists considering they're just a power trio.
In the end I would say to certainly pick this up along the way but if you're new to Kreator don't start here, get PTK first or Coma of Souls.
Great debut for a great band........2006-03-07
Kreator is the second best thrash group ever (Slayer is #1), and this is one great debut from the German metal gods. Mille's vocals are like alligators chewing on your limbs. The guitarring is great, plenty of fast riffs and solos. The drumming is almost as good as Dave Lombardo's.
Here's the song scores:
ENDLESS PAIN: 100/10
TOTAL DEATH: 10/10
STORM OF THE BEAST: 20/10
TORMENTOR: 20/10
SON OF EVIL: 10/10
FLAG OF HATE: 100/10
CRY WAR: 10/10
BONE BREAKER: 20/10
LIVING IN FEAR: 10/10
DYING VICTIMS: 10/10
ARMIES OF HELL (DEMO VERSION): 10/10
TORMENTOR (DEMO VERSION): 10/10
CRY WAR (DEMO VERSION): 10/10
BONE BREAKER (DEMO VERSION): 10/10
If you think Helloween is a good German metal band, you need to hear this, after doing so, you'll never turn back to those cheesy Iron Maiden rip offs again.
Long live Kreator!!
Awesome Debut. Inspired many future death and black metal bands.......2006-03-04
Kreator's first album does not have the crisp sound that Coma of Souls or Extreme Aggressions had, but this album set the standard for extreme thrash/speed metal at the time. Yeah, Metallica did this and Slayer did that, but there was nothing like this out there at the time. While the production might not be as good as today's standards, it does not take away from the music.
Mille's vocals are venemous, and have no doubt been an inspiration to most if not all black metal vocalists out there now. To this day, this album is still an enjoyable listen from beginning to end (and what an end it is with Awakening of the Gods)!
Classic metal. Highly Recommended.
savage beginnings.......2005-10-27
"Endless Pain" is raw and fun thrashy metal from these German speedsters. their later releases would show their talent and songwriting skills grow in leaps and bounds. and while this is not as pleasing as "Terrible Certainty," there is a good reckless spirit to these tunes. "Storm Of The Beast" shows some cool guitar work and a nice breakdown, elsewhere on the record "Flag Of Hate" almost sounds like an early template for black metal; with it's buzzsaw guitars and ghastly vocals which state the following notice: "i'll eat your intestines." thanks very much.
what's also kind of funny is to listen to the extra bonus tracks and listening to how much Mercyful Fate influenced the band. the song "Armies Of Hell" sounds like Mille is trying his pitiful best to mimic the King himself. ouch.
while this is a very crude and early recording, Kreator shows promise that will bring them international rise to being one of Europe's most celebrated and long standing metal acts. this is where it began. rock.

Customer Reviews:
GREAT RECORDING, BUT THE PRICE..........1999-12-01
This is 20th century opera at its most vivid. Once considered a failure, Osud was resurrected in an English translation that actually improves upon the original libretto. The music is as vital as anything in Janacek: the piece starts a churning riff strangely reminiscent of Philip Glass; the ending is equally memorable -- startlingly brusque and humorous. Throughout, we get musical drama tied to the quick of spoken language; conversations overlap, or suddenly fall silent. At times the story is ridiculous, but the production rides over any problems. Philip Langridge, as always, is great. My only qualm: this was originally a single disc CD on EMI, for a single disc price. Though the package is nice, the price is steep for some 70:00 odd minutes.

This was Morbid Angel's "Altars" way before that cd came out.......2001-02-19
Hissing, witchy vocals interspersed with relentlessly brutal barks. The guitar playing is extremely crude, but fits terrifically with the bare bone production. This recording at times has a chilling effect not easily described. This is a very important release.

The best UNHEARD OF metal I've ever heard...........2004-05-04
Crash is an awesome band hardly anyone has heard of..and from all metalheads who are true to the core they deserve much praise...I'm curently stationed over here in Korea for the United States Army and came across this band from someone who was interested in heavy metal and gave me the names of a few bands to check out..Crash was one of them and among my 1st find I was instantly hoooked..I agree with the last reviewer..they sound ALOT like Sepultura...so much it's almost scary....and ALOT of their songs are in English..while only some are Hongul...I wanted to find more of their albums...so south to Seoul I went and found 2 more in the shopping district in Itaewon...."To Be Or Not To Be" was one of the albums I found and it blew my mind....killer riffs..precision double bass blasts...and killer vocals....still everything that I heard on the 1st Crash album I found in T.D.C...the newer Crash album "The Great Clash" I think it's called was pretty freaking sweet too....although less thrashy and more industrial than the last 2....it was still Crash.....among some of my fave songs on those 3 albums are "RATS", "MACHINERY", "WHIRLWIND STRUGGLE", and "BOMBCULT"....for all you true fans of good metal out there take my word..this is a band worthy of your devotion and time finding....I'm hooked. I'm ordering this one if I can'f find it..I know it'll be great....since this was the only Crash album available on Amazon..I gave it the review for the 3 I do own...as it can't be bad...Crash rocks..and deserves your devotion...metal is alive in KOREA!
My Worst Enemy.......2003-07-29
Koreans strive to be the best they can in everything they do, and often feel something produced in Korea might not be up to the standard of other countries. It has meant Korean music has made little impact on the world past pop weirdos The The. If you mention the name Crash to even the most devoted of metal fans, few will know what you are talking about, which is a shame.
Crash are the out and out leaders of Korean metal. Forming back in the late 1980s, it took until 1993 for this album to hit the shelves. And what an album it is! Imaginative, cutting death/thrash in the Kreator (the album title is a bit of a clue) and early 1990s Sepultura mould. Anyone managing to stumble across this will discover thrashing riffs by the truckload, a rock solid rhythm section, and even blast beats.
The song writing is excellent. Crash's single, and still their signature tune, "My Worst Enemy" is an excellent demonstration of what the band is all about- big riffs, unrelenting power, anger, aggression, and excellent musicianship. Yes, I know I've just used the word "excellent" three times in two sentences, but this band justifies such praise. There are two versions of "My Worst Enemy", sung in English and Korean, with the Korean version coming across the more convincing of the two.
In places, the sound is perfect Sepultura, and could easily have been lifted off "Beneath The Remains". An Heung Chan's throaty roar matches Max, except with a slightly different accent, and he seems to cope with English better. An's bellowed version of "Smoke On The Water" is more than passable. Guitarist Yoon Doo Byong also throws an original solo into the old metal standard.
By 1993, thrash was on the outer, which may explain why this never managed a wide release outside Korea. Perhaps if it had, the Korean metal scene would have earned the same respect as scenes like those in Brazil and Poland. When you look back at some of the utter crap signed up by record companies in search of the next Metallica or Sepultura in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it seems incredible a band such as this could have been missed. While a little behind the times, Crash deserve more attention internationally than they have received.
