Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Origin of Finnish metal.......2007-02-27

Before Amorphis, before Children of Bodom, before Insomnium, there was Sentenced. With influences from Candlemass to Metallica, Sentenced played an early form of melodic death metal most accuratley described as At the Gates meets Kreator. Often bordering on straight-up thrash, North from Here is looked at by melodeath fans as the true origin of melodic death metal. However, dont think of this as a In Flames clone, they are so much more. If your going to buy only one melodeath album this year, definately pick this up. Fans of melodeath in general will cherish this.

5 out of 5 stars This has been ripped off so much.........2005-12-12

''Whie you were a sleep I was awake to be a part of the dark..''

5 out of 5 stars The old Sentenced is just to good!.......2004-12-12

I'm a fan of Sentenced (with Taneli Jarva OR Ville at vocals), and with that just too good death metal, i'm just ...wow. I've found these cd's (North from here & Shadows of the past) simply perfect. It's all the power of the vocal and the perfect guit (In 'the trooper' (Iron Maiden Cover) i've found the quality of the guit almost like COB! (Children Of Bodom) ! These cd's are really good, if you like Sentenced and/or Death Metal you'll enjoy listening to these tracks!

5 out of 5 stars Deserves 500 Stars!!!!!.......2004-07-16

Man I am still exploding from listening to this awesome display of melodic death metal. These guys rule! Extreme melodic riffs that will have any melodic death metal fan excited. Who can resist 2 albums for the price of one that both helped shape the melodic death metal scene today. "North From Here" is the better of the two cds and is so damn good. Absolutely amazing guitar work and the vocals heighten the intensity of each song.

2 out of 5 stars This album sucks.......2003-11-23

If you like sentenced which i do you probally think oh two c.d.'s for the price of one well don't because their later albums are much better unless you are into heavy death metal of which is just screaming i recommend frozen or crimison. these two albums had complicated and immense guitar and lyrics when you could understand the lyrics so if you plan on singing to this don't unless you want a sore mouth from screaming in another lanuage called crap
