One of my all time favorites........2006-10-13
I have been listening to this CD on a regular basis since 1989! Do the math, that's 17 years! I still believe this is one of the best CD's of all time. They didn't quite fit in the 80's glam genre, sure they looked glam but they have kind of Beatle's melody thing going. Hard to describe... so, I recommend you buy it!
In the video, near the end, look real quick for two clips of Rick Nielsen when these guys used open for fav band, Cheap Trick..........2006-01-08
The 1989 debut for the Chicago / Rockford,
Ill. band, E'Nuff Z'Nuff, is still the
band's best. Of all the bands from that
area (and era) E.Z. are still the best
influenced by the Heavy Metal/ One On One
/ Spring Break / Next Position Please /Up
The Creek / Standing on the Edge / Rock N
Rule / The Doctor / Mighty Wings age of
MTV. The main prop here is of course the
single and video of 'Fly High Michelle'
w/ it's 'caucasian hottie picks up Donnie
Vie's shades he dropped by the Tour Bus,
rose-colour glasses' clip. They also open-
ed for Jon Brant's old band Siren a couple
times too. For more Cheap Trick influenced
bands that came out in the '80's and 90's,
check out Mr Big, Extreme (who's lead singer
Gary Cheron [pronouced "SHA-rone", like the
dying Israeli war criminal], who sang lead
on Van Halen III and Smashing Pumkins.
Never Enuff .......2005-10-16
Good first album. Bought this back when it was released off the strength of Fly High Michelle, which still sounds awesome. New Thing is okay, as is Hot Little Summer Girl. Little Indian Angel is a good track as well. They were just warming up with this debut, and their efforts that followed just got better and more personal.
Great 1st cd.......2005-10-01
Donnie vie is brilliant.
Listen to new thing and fly high michelle. Perfect pop tunes.

Customer Reviews:
A decent retrospective.......2006-07-13
Enuff Z'Nuff 'Greatest Hits' was released early in 2006 on Cleopatra/Deadline Records. Although this Chicago-based band never reached superstar status, they certainly deserved such a treatment. This wasn't the first time, however. There was already a previous greatest hits album issued in 2004 under the title of 'Favorites.' The track listing here differs a little bit.
Overall, the song selection on the 'Greatest Hits' release is fairly good. The best news is that none of these are live versions or rerecordings, which is often the case with such a compilation released on a small label. "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle" were the two biggest hits for Enuff Z'Nuff and they are both here. The casual fan will probably never listen to anything beyond this point, though common sense and good taste says they should.
Rest assured there will be plenty of fan debate over what songs should have been included here and which ones should have been left off. Truth is, the only album that is poorly represented would be 'Animals With Human Intelligence' from 1993. "Innocence", "Mary Anne Lost Her Baby" and "Right By Your Side" are all sorely missed here.
The good points here include the fact that this release is a pretty good retrospective for Enuff Z'Nuff. Pretty much every aspect of their career is covered, from the early days to the more recent material. No stone is left unturned. The running order here tends to run from early material, at the beginning of the album, to the newer material which is featured at the end. As you listen to each song in order, you can clearly hear the evolution of this band. The final song on here, "Gorgeous", comes straight from the 2004 studio album, '?'. "There goes my heart" is another great radio single from recent years (2000).
The biggest complaint here would be that a couple of the songs are noticeably shorter than the original album versions. It appears that the label chose to go with the radio edits of "Fly High Michelle" and "There goes my heart." Both of those songs are missing their original intro and outro. The listener will quickly know the difference in "Fly High Michelle", which is at least one minute shorter, though the missing portions of "There goes my heart" will be tougher to pick up, except to the more dedicated fans who know the song by heart.
You won't find much in the way of liner notes, either. There is a short commentary on the band written by radio personality Howard Stern, who has championed Enuff Z'Nuff on his radio show for years. However, you can tell by reading it that the comments are very dated. They appear to have been written sometime in the early to mid 1990's, long before this release was ever conceived.
You can't let any of this discourage you from picking up this album. While the Enuff Z'Nuff 'Greatest Hits' album contains some flaws, you can't deny that what is here is very good melodic pop. There aren't many bands that do it better than this one. It is also worth noting that this collection is the easiest way to get some of the best Enuff Z'Nuff songs all in one place.

Album Description
Enuff Z'Nuff really knows how to make killer hard-edged pop music with great retro leanings. On this, their tenth CD, they continue that tradition in fine form. The band has put together a collection of pieces that should really please both the long-time listener and the new fan. The material on the CD ranges from bouncy pop in the vein of early Beatles to harder edged power pop to heavy metal and even ELO oriented sounds. Smashing Pumpkin's Billy Corgan joins the group on a dark, hard edged take on the Cheap Trick number Everything Works If You Let It.

Enuff Z'Nuff 10 - and hopefully many more!.......2005-10-17
I actually discovered this band reading online reviews. They sounded like something I would like, and brother, I was not disappointed! If your main complaint about modern rock is the lack of songwriting and instrumental virtuousity, then you need to check out this band! I have played this album for several people that I know, and they were all astounded that a band this good could be this unheard. I repeat, check them out!
Just another great EZN cd.......2005-10-16
10 keeps these guys rolling. Every EZN album has alot of really good songs, and one that just is amazing (Fly High Michelle, Mother's Eyes, Wheels, etc). On this one, it is THERE GOES MY HEART. Additional personal favorites are WAKE UP, SUICIDE, ALL RIGHT, BANG ON, & EVERYTHING WORKS IF YOU LET IT. Almost every other song is very listenable as well. Chip & Donnie strike again!
Perfect Pop albulm.......2005-10-01
Donnie vie is brilliant. It doesn't get better than this. Check out the cool Brian wilson harmonies in "your hearts no good but I love your face" Beautiful melodies.
THE BEST YET !.......2003-06-12
Let's first get it straight: no matter what preconcieved notions you may have about what these guys are about, DON'T fall for the so-called "similar genre" stuff that compares them to primarily 80's hair metal bands (like Warrant, Poison, etc., etc.). Perhaps a few songs many years ago (especially due to ex-guitarist Derek Frigo's obnoxious, non-stop, cocaine fueled adventures in whammy bar land), but a much more accurate and most well deserved comparison would be The Beatles, with an indefinable twist and charm of thier own.
Being fortunate enough to have spent a great deal of time close to Chip and Donnie, I want to address something that most others seem to miss: these 2 guys are without a doubt among the most talented and intense musicians in the business (just ask the endless parade of professionals from Eddie Van Halen to McCartney himself!); through all the years and all the insanity, Chip's tremendous personal strength and ability (look up a bio of the band's history of the ups and downs) and Donnie's pure genius, they have created something truly special.
OK! Now the review of "10"...fantastic! Even the work they did with Clive isn't up to this level. The opener, "There Goes My Heart", has a great "Got To Get You Into My Life" feel to it,setting the tone for a very Beatlesque album overall...each person will have different favs (mine would be the opener, Your Heart's No Good, Fly Away, Wake Up, Suicide, and Holiday), but what makes this such a great album is mostly the subtle things that alone may seem insignifigant, but together add up to create some great sounds...not that "wall of guitar" sound, but interesting textures and mixes, lots of little surprises...the kinds of songs that you make new discoveries with each listen. Combine that with great writing and singing from Donnie, and Chip's incredible grasp of not only the bass, but everything that you hear; the movement, the tones, the "vibe".
I have tried to give an account here that will hopefully be more helpful than most people's "I like it/I hate it" type of review. I feel that it's important to try to give an intelligent account of music like this, especially when they have been swept aside mistakenly by people's incorrect first impressions. Do yourself a favor and get this CD, and see what your're missing!

Start Feeling Again.......2003-09-23
Words can't really describe what Enuff Znuff's music has done and continues to do for me since their debut album back in 1989. On Tweaked, EZN continues to showcase Chip and Donnie's abilities to put provocative and relatable lyrics to beautiful melodies with a strong backbeat. Put this CD on and just sit and listen to tracks like "Stoned," "My Dear Dream," and "It's too Late," and you will see that these guys are not only letting us into their emotional catharsis, but truly crafting quality songs. Some of the tracks on this album are left over b-sides from their earlier days, they do not, however, take anything away from the album as a whole. For instance, "Has Jesus Closed His Eyes?" features their original guitarist Derek Frigo. This track is a good sample of something you might find one their second album "Strength" or even their third album "Animals..." Whatever you do, don't let the misclassification of these guys as 80's metal allow you to overlook their talent as great songwriters. If you are a fan of great pop music, I guarantee you will enjoy Enuff Znuff. Though I believe this album is a turning point for the band it is, perhaps, them at their most genuine. Don't pass this one up.

Customer Reviews:
Mixes the best of their first two albums.......2005-10-16
This one finds them combining the social commentary of Strength with catchy music and production of their debut. Standouts on this one are: LOVE TRAIN, THESE DAYS, & MARYANNE LOST HER BABY. Additional solid tracks: SUPERSTITIOUS, BLACK RAIN, RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE, & INNOCENCE. This has been an underappreciated gem of an album.
Safe Sax?.......2002-05-17
"This is your lucky day / There's a brand new situation / You're the one that's here to stay." So begins Animals With Human Intelligence, Enuff Z'nuff's third major studio album (their first for Arista). These lyrics demonstrate the faith and confidence the band had in themselves, despite the loss of their drummer Vic Fox to the Vince Neil Band during the recording sessions for Animals.
The first track, "Superstitious", sets the tone for the album by combining a funky, harmonic laden, metal guitar hook with jazz band styled saxophones underneath (they show up again on the angry "Master of Pain"). It's a bit of a surprise after the clean pop rock sound of their previous album Strength. One would expect the band to continue along the same vein. After all, Strength, while not a high selling album, solidified Enuff Z'nuff as a critical success, garnering rave reviews and earning them the status of Rolling Stone magazine's "New Band of the Year" for 1991. Enuff Z'nuff, however, seem to have become the group embodiment of Neil Young, in that they will record what they want, when they want, and hang the critics if they don't like it. As a result, Animals With Human Intelligence is the anti Strength: quick, dirty and filled with attitude, and it works.
Heavy sounds dominate the album. Hard rock pieces are peppered throughout the 12 tracks, ready to slap you back into your seat in case you get carried away by one of Animals' lighter tunes (such as the instant classic "One Step Closer To You"). "Black Rain" is a dark soliloquy with a raw, bluesy guitar and Beatlesque harmonies, and the aforementioned "Master of Pain" has a bass and guitar dual riff that sounds positively sick. This, of course, is a good thing. The album's closer, "Rock 'N' World", is an arena pleasing, in your face anthem that's a perfect driving song.
The obligatory power ballads are here too, with somewhat mixed results. "Innocence" is a thoughtful, poetic warning about rushing into adulthood too soon. It's a well composed piece with dreamy background vocals and a powerful ending. The other entry, "Right By Your Side", doesn't fare as well, managing to combine both the worst and best of 1980's cheese into one song. The verses are generic, employing an overused arrangement (complete with the slow "chunk-chunk-chunk" power chords found in most hair bands of the day) with a predictable melody. At the chorus though, this baby soars triumphantly into something much more than it deserves. See if you don't walk away humming it.
Not too many Z'nuffers claim Animals With Human Intelligence as their favorite album by the band, but if it's been a while since you've heard it dust it off and give it another chance. Overall, it's a solid offering and an album that grows on you after repeated listenings.
As Donnie Vie says in "Rock 'N' World" - "It's so damn cool, I've been there twice."
You should go, too.

A BAND that you need to hear.......2007-04-27
I hope my title can alert some people to this cd. I fully agree with what has been written before me and would only like to add. There are many reasons why Enuff Znuff are unique band and have released some great music and I'm going to try to cover those indivudual components. The songwriting combines great pop elements which are hardened up for fans like me who appreciate great melodies with hard or heavier guitar work. Donnie is a fantastic singer and extremely underappreciated. He is one of the few singers who can really belt out their voice without sounding like they're screaming and he also always sounds sincere and heartfelt in his delivery. GET BACK TOGETHER YOU KNUCKLEHEADS. There is another key element to the band and that has to be Derek Frigo. Derek actually co-wrote one of the stand out tracks on this cd being Mothers Eyes. His guitar work gives Enuff Znuffs songs the guts that their fans love but he is also brilliant with his melodic and often technically sound guitar solos. As a guitar player myself, I truely believe that Dereks ability and his execution is up there with greats such as George Lynch and Eddie Van Halen etc. I don't want to end my review with a negative but there are some fillers here but I gave it 5 out of 5 because if you chop out the fillers there are still at least 10 tracks which is more than exceptional value. I wish I didn't live so far away from the states so could have seen these guys when THIS line-up was together. RIP Derek.
Looking For Buried Treasure....Get It Here!!.......2006-11-22
What a tragedy that Atco Records did not know what to do with Enuff Z'Nuff. The management was poor and they did not know what they truly had, and by that time the Grunge fad was already knocking adding insult to injury. As you will read elsewhere, there was (and still is) IMMENSE talent that was initially bundled in the wrong package (image). Who's call that was I am not sure. Enuff Z'Nuff and the Vie/Z'Nuff combo should go down as one of the greatest ever in the history of music but we'll just have to be content knowing that they will never get the respect they truly deserve. This is easily one of the most potent releases of the 90's and it still holds up well today. Whenever I get trapped by that homogenized dreck that dominates radio today, can always count on this disc to remind me that well crafted melodic rock can show today's chumps how to make some real music.
Along with the great Neil Finn and Marshall Crenshaw, Enuff Z'Nuff can be added to the "Most Underappreciated Artists Of Their Time" list.
Completely overlooked gem!!!!!.......2006-01-09
What a underrated album this was! Donnie Vie and Chip Z'nuff are two of the most prolific songwriter duos that have ever hit the rock scene in a long time. This album really shows this. There is so much depth and substance to all their songs on this album that I think maybe it was too much for some people to take in. I know the image they presented in the late 80's was the glam thing but there was defenitely something more there. Bottom line: if you want thought provoking, well crafted melodic rock songs you should pick this up. Z'nuff said.
I CANT BELIEVE THIS CLASSIC HASNT BEEN REVIEWED.......2005-08-20
Buy this record. Do yourself a favor. If you love late 80's metal, early 90's glam, 60's beatle-esque pop and 70's classic rock...then you cannot go wrong.
This album is an instant classic that does NOT get the respect or admiration it deserves. There is a reason that Znuff was Howard Sterns faveorite band in the early 90's, that they were on the cover of Rolling Stone mag as the saviours of new rock in teh dawn of the 90's.
This is a classic!

An underrated album from an underrated band.......2004-03-17
I've been a fan of Enuff Z'Nuff since 1989 when their first self-titled album came out. Over the years they have become less and less known to most mainstream music fans. It seems that they have been blacklisted by record companies as being one of the leftover "hair bands" with nothing to offer todays music fan. Any fan of Enuff Z'Nuff knows how wrong this is. http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/
Now to the album itself. If you are a fan of "poppy" hook laden songs then this is the album for you. Enuff Z'Nuff are just the right combination of The Beatles, Cheap Trick, and Elvis Costello with a little bit of Eddie Van Halen thrown in for good measure.
Songs such as "These Daze" and "One step closer to you" add a carefree, happy element to the album, while songs such as "Mary anne lost her baby" show the serious side of the band. I would put "Innocence" and "Right by your side" up against any power ballad ever made. The harmonies between lead singer Donnie Vie and Bass player Chip Z'Nuff are rivaled only by John and Paul.
The sad thing about this album is that you can no longer buy it in a regular store, as it is out of print. This album deserved much more of a chance then it was given. Not only do i think this is a great album, but i would say it's one of the best i've ever heard. Long live Enuff Z'Nuff! --RussJr74

Can't get enough Enuff Z'Nuff.......2007-04-11
I had the lucky fortune of finding this gem in a dollar bin at an odd store in Cleveland. I would not sell you my copy for 20 bucks! What a pleasant surpise to pop this Cd into my player and discover yet another handful of undeniably catchy, cool, great pop songs with flair and passion. "This Guy," "No Place Like Home," "Home Tonight," "How Are You" and the Queen cover "Stone Cold Crazy" are all awesome pieces of songwriting. These are songs you will find yourself playing over and over and over again. Too bad these guys have had their issues with drug abuse. I've met them and seen them in club concerts numerous times here in Cleveland. Another masterpiece guys. Keep up the good work.
Half is strong, half is average.......2005-05-18
Enuff Z'nuff are a great band with one of the most impressive catalogs of music available. Had they not gone the glam-metal route with their first two (and most successful) records, maybe they would've been huge. Who knows?
This is yet another strong effort from EZN, though not exactly their best (I'd give that title to either "Ten" or "Welcome to Blue Island.") The first track, "Gorgeous," is actually sung by bassist (and usually backing vocalist) Chip Z'nuff. He sounds exactly like Donnie (lead singer). As with most Enuff Z'nuff albums, the first 4 songs are the strongest, and then it kind of levels off. There's a cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy," that's pretty good, but Metallica's version rocked harder.
This album reunited the 4 original band members, including Vikki Foxx (great drummer who's spent the last 10 years in the "Where are they now?" category), and Derek Frigo, who died of a drug overdose just after this CD was released.
More please!.......2005-02-15
As one of the biggest Enuff Z'Nuff fans around, I was one of the first to admit that they did not exactly blow me away with their last release "Welcome to Blue Island". I loved Donnie Vie's stripped back solo record, and a few of the tunes from WTBI recalled their glory days, but I was disappointed that I hadn't heard any contenders for "true EZN classics" in awhile. To be fair, the band has put out 12 albums since 1989 (plus the Donnie Vie solo album and a ton of rare demos and covers). When I first heard about "?" I thought it would be another so-so record, with the bonus of cleanly recorded versions of some old favorite demos ("Home Tonight," "How Are You," and "Harleya"). Thankfully, I was wrong - though those songs still are the top 3 tracks. An enjoyable power pop record with a hard rock edge which won't disappoint fans of the band or genre. Also, I should note that these tracks employ the lineup from the self-titled EZN album - with Derek Frigo (RIP) on guitar and Vikki Foxx on drums.
Best Tracks:
"Gorgeous" - After the intentionally silly intro, this song kicks into pure power pop heaven. This song was penned and sung by bassist Chip Z'Nuff, proving he can hold his own with Donnie.
"Home Tonight" - Probably one of my top 10 all time EZN tracks. A Beatlesque charmer with sad lyrics and great vocals.
"No Place Like Home" - Would have fit right in on 1985 or the debut album with its simple structure and big chorus.
"Harleya" - A ballad paced track with an awesome chorus. Typically this is where I would say "this should be a hit," but the record buying public just wouldn't get it. Great song.
"How Are You" - The first 4 songs I named were pretty "big" in sound - fully electric and pretty upbeat. This acoustic song is simply gorgeous - a little melodramatic, but undeniable in its emotion and loaded with hooks. Thanks for finally making this one available guys!
Three in a row.......2004-11-09
They've been making great albums all along, but for me this is the third killer album in a row from Enuff Z'nuff where every song just clicks from start to finish. This album and the other two (2000's 10 and 2002's Welcome To Blue Island) are among my favorites in my entire CD collection.
"Help" (not a Beatles cover), "No Place Like Home", "Hang On For Life" and "Man With A Woman" are the standout tracks from this album. "This Guy", "Home Tonight", and "Joni Woni" are also very good.
But the killer track on this album is "Gorgeous", written by Chip and I'm guessing sung by him as well since that is definitely not Donnie's voice. What a geat song!
I would compare this album to Welcome To Blue Island in that it's a more straightforward, harder album with turned-up guitars, moreso than on their 1990's albums, but the hooks still come through in each song.
If you are starting out with Enuff Z'nuff, I would definitely recommend this album, 10 or Welcome To Blue Island...or better yet all three.

HEAVY AND TIGHT ENUFF IS WORTH IT.......1999-10-24
THIS COLLECTION IS WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. A LITTLE HEAVY COMPARED WITH SOME OF THEIR STUDIO ALBUMS. THERES NOTHING LAID BACK ABOUT THIS ONE. JUST LISTEN TO "IN THE GROOVE" AND YOU WILL FEEL THE CONCERT HALL TEMBLE FROM THE THUNDEROUS DOWN BEAT. I LIKE THEIR MELODIC ROCK SOUND THE BEST. IT SHOWCASES THEIR WRITTING AND VOCAL GENIUS THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS YET TO FIND OUT ABOUT.
Enough is Enough , it's really okay.......1999-04-23
It's an okay album , that's why I gave it four stars . Enuff Z'Nuff is pretty cool and I sure do miss Derek and Vikki from the band . You should not but anything when these two were gone , cause when they were gone , the band was lost .
A perfect example of the talent this band has........1998-10-02
Donnie doesn't miss a note again, this band is amazing. They are as good live as in the studio. This is my favorite band.

I hope this thing gets a US release.......2003-03-08
Enuff Z'nuff are so ridiculously overlooked and underrated. You can pick just about any one of their records and find examples of brilliant songwriting. Welcome to Blue Island is no exception. It hasn't been released here in the US yet, but I got my copy from Chip after a show here on the east coast. The first 5 songs are spectacular. Donnie Vie and Chip Znuff are perhaps the best songwriting duo from the 80's, and while so many other 80's bands can't seem to write even ONE good song, Enuff Znuff do it OVER and OVER and OVER again.
Ricky Parent isn't the drummer that Vikki Foxx is (was), but he does have a few cool moments on here, as does Monaco (who handled all vocal duties on tour this go-round and was probably a better singer than Donnie, in my opinion, but I digress......).
If you like the Beatles-type songwriting, you'll dig ANY EZN record, including this one. I'd have to say this is perhaps the best CD I've purchased in the last year. By far.
Welcome to Blue Island Import.......2002-11-09
Over the past 11 years, I have listened to whatever I could find from Enuff Z'Nuff, which, after some hard searching, has been every CD they've released. Their latest offering (Import only so far), Welcome to Blue Island, stands as an exellent offering. The lyrical content shows a return to the late '80's rock era when bands like Poison and Warrant ruled the airwaves. The guitar-driven rock is heavy while not depressing and, in certain instances such as Sanibel Island and I've Fallen in Love Again, brings back the wonderful tones of their first two albums and Tweaked. The song Saturday is a great pop song that is fun to just play loud. The Sun is an obvious Tip of the Hat to their heroes and mine, the Beatles.
As I sit here, I am listening to this CD for the fourth time in six hours. While not as mature as albums such Paraphernelia and Seven, Donnie and Chip show their remarkable production abilities and, in their most stable lineup (Ricky and Monaco are very underrated players), the band play very smoothly together, creating musical textures which live up to my expectations.
I had only three problems with this CD. First, the bonus track, while interesting, is somewhat confusing. Is that Donnie singing? Second, it seems to fly by, giving the impression that it is shorter than it really is. The only other CD that seemed this short was Ten. Third, and last, the CD insert features a picture of the boys in the buff. As a male fan, I find this almost impossible to look at.
Overall, I enjoy this CD and proudly add it to my collection of Enuff Z'Nuff CDs.
