Rez.......2005-09-05
This is probably the definitive early Christian hard rock album. It may go out of style, but it will never cease to be relevant. The whole genre would benifit if current artists held themselves to this standard. A classic.

This is the FIRST Naked Raygun disc to buy.......2006-01-06
"I Lie", "Swingo" and "Potential Rapist" are easily three of Naked Raygun's best songs. You also get Jim Colao who was Naked Raygun's greatest drummer. All Rise and Throb Throb can wait - buy this one first.
press play, 22 minutes later press play again.......2005-05-03
One day my roomate has my do a search for naked raygun mp3s on soulseek. I don't find any but because he says they are a great punk band from the early 80's I go out and buy this album. Later that day I am told I got the "worst" one. I have since bought the later albums but still it is this one I keep coming back to. The sound is a perfect lo-fi raw experiance and the songs are fast and brutal. "I lie" is perhaps one of the best punk anthems. All these songs make you want to jump, fight and dance until the muscles on your neck split and blood is jettisoned from your mouth. Recomended for any punk fan. Also if you enjoy this album go out and find a copy of the Urinals "Negative capability". Check it out.
Zapped.......2001-02-22
Naked Raygun was the flagship band of the tiny Chicago punk scene in the 80s. This collection of songs is a lot of fun, although the shoddy sound quality of the latter half of the album might rub some people the wrong way (I like it, personally -- I love the second "Swingo" on there, which is fast and raw, as it should be).
Favorite tracks on this one are: "Bombshelter" (great to listen to with headphones), "Tojo," "Swingo," "Potential Rapist" -- the rhythm section on these is just stellar -- machine-gun drums and galloping bass (the bass reminds me a lot of Wire, incidentally). Speaking of Wire, I thought their cover of "12XU" to be sludgy -- way too slow.
I think NR's work has held up well, managing not to sound dated. It's a short album, so you can cycle through it over and over again, which is good, since you'll come to appreciate the music as you listen to it more. There's an interesting commentary on the inside jacket by Steve Albini, and some great pictures.
Don't get me wrong..........2000-09-12
...I do love Naked Raygun's later work, but I put this one in most often. It sure is primitive, and noisy, and lo-fi, and that's why I like it. To me, songs like "Bombshelter" and "Tojo" and "Tell Them" from the 1980 session embody in my mind what I think real punk rock is. Not quite as melodic as their later punk-pop (NOT pop-punk, mind you) outings, but still it isn't completely user-unfriendly.
Oh, and "Potential Rapist" (will Amazon let me say that?) is a gosh darn classic. One of the best songs ever written.
Trivia time, guitarist Santiago Durango, and singer Jeff Pezzati were both doubling in Big Black around the time this record came out, around the same time that Big Black's "Bulldozer" was released.
Interesting.......2000-02-10
For true Raygun fans only. A very raw recording including NR's first album (which had been deleted when the band was still around) and some rare outakes of a previous session. While some of the songs are good, (Liar is one of their best songs in my opinion) it is merely a novelty to hear what the band sounded like before they were great. Albini has written better and said better things as well in the liner notes. Go buy Throb Throb first.

Album Description
"Pleasant Screams" is a non-stop punk and pop-punk affair, produced by Mass Giorgini at Sonic Iguana, and featuring the usual gang of contributors and guest stars. The lyrics are frank and insightful, and the music is the patented QUEERS blend of buzz-saw RAMONES-fueled guitar punk and Joe King's trademark whine. "Pleasant Screams" features guest vocals from Gretchen of the Smears on the track "You Just Gotta Blow My Mind." Another song, "I Wanna Be Happy," was written by Joe King and Ben Weasel around an unfinished Joey Ramone demo, and drum and second guitar duties are handled by Matt Drastic (TEEN IDOLS) and Dan Vapid (MOPES, SCREECHING WEASEL) respectively. THE QUEERS are one of the few bands that effectively blend classic rock'n'roll elements - think doo-wop, Phil Spector, THE BEACH BOYS - with punk rock's energy, power and attitude. They deserve your ears, eyes and hearts!

Customer Reviews:
An outstanding CD of Miklos Rozsa film music.......2005-09-28
This CD is the real deal, the authentic music from Rozsa's movie scores delivered by an unnamed orchestra with the composer at the helm. The first half is recorded in stereo and recorded in Los Angeles in 1962. The back half is in excellent mono and recorded in Europe in 1952.
While many listeners have heard the Roman marches from "Ben Hur" and "Quo Vadis" as well as the music from "Spellbound" by watching the films themselves, I would draw your attention to the outstanding music herein from "El Cid" and "The Red House", two movies I have never seen.
The three selections from "El Cid" -- Overture, Love Theme and the outstanding El Cid March -- comprise an organic entity boiling over in Spanish flavor. The four selections from "The Red House" -- Prelude, Screams In The Night, The Oxhead Woods and the very disturbing Retribution -- do even more to create an atmospheric thriller in good mono right there on your home or car stereo! The addition of a wobbly female voice in "Screams of the Night" section adds suspense and aura to this already highly effective thriller coming from your equipment.
I'd say this music has to be heard in its entirety to be believed. It eschews the common failings of film music and in effect creates a suite from each movie that rivals, even betters, well known classical music suites. These are impassioned, thrilling, highly fulfilling performances that must be considered authoritative given the leadership of the composer.
The one small drawback to this issue are the scanty two page notes about Rozsa and his role in Hollywood. Still, it is the music you want to hear and the music on this CD is glorious beyond glory. On the evidence of this issue, there is no question Rozsa ranks up there with Bernard Herrmann as the best writers for film in the 20th century.
Discover Rozsa's Great Film Scores.......2002-01-18
When film lovers talk about classic film scores, they normally speak of Hermann, Waxman, Steiner, and a few others. It's too bad Rozsa's name is not mentioned more, because he was truly one of the greatest composers of film music. Rozsa was a master of creating excitement and tension in his scores, even if excitement and tension were lacking in the films themselves! I have never seen 'The Red House,' but I'd see it in a minute after hearing the soundtrack represented here. A nice look at a forgotten film great and his music.
Rozsa's Brilliant Score to Epic Films.......2000-06-29
The scores on this CD are beautiful and grand, matching the expanse of the movies they were ment to score. Written in the Golden Age of Film Scores which helped inspire modern film score composers such as John Williams.

New 2004 release from the Australian artists Mortification. This is available in the US as an IMPORT only!!! Don't miss out on their 12th studio album which returns to the band's roots in thrash/death metal.
Customer Reviews:
Finally..........2005-04-06
Finally, Mortification has released a good cd. They haven't had a good cd since 1993's Post Momentary Affliction! Brain Cleaner is the cd that should've followed Post Momentary Affliction instead of Blood World. Steve Rowe is growling again, and not the high, wimpy growling that's more like talking. His growling is sometimes low, and other times, the really deep growling as was on Scrolls of the Megilloth, and Post Momentary affliction. Lyrically, this cd is more creative than in recent years, but not quite as creative as Mortification's earlier stuff. Nonetheless, the lyrics are still Satan-hating. This is not a perfect cd, but still a breath of fresh air for fans of early Mortification.

Product Description
This is the second release from the fantastic band from Ukraine which interleaves Celtic folk influences with the speed riffing and technicality of death and black metal. Originally released only in Ukraine, Bombworks Records has made this incredible CD available for the rest of the world to hear. This release features more Celtic influences and more melody than the first release, with a heavier emphasis on integrating the flute with the heavy guitars. It is also an enhanced CD, including as a bonus the video recorded for the incredible song "The Spring".
Customer Reviews:
Amazing Folk Metal!.......2006-05-27
Several years ago while surfing the Web I found a strange band by the name of Holy Blood. I downloaded one of their songs and was simply amazed at their style. This is an extremely talented Ukrainian folk metal band.
The songs on this album include:
1. Intro (instrumental)
2. To Heaven
3. The Spring
4. Jerusalem
5. I Flow Towards the Fate
6. Baptising of the Rus (instrumental)
7. In the Last Battle
8. Fair
9. Waves are Dancing
10. Outro (instrumental)
I like every single one of these songs. Each song is well crafted, and they aren't repetetive.
There are probably tons of bands out there that play folk metal now. I haven't heard that many folk metal bands so I can't really say if this is the cream of the crop. I have heard of an interesting German folk metal band called "Schandmaul" and I would recommend that band, although these two bands are completely different. They both play folk metal but that's the only comparison that can be made. On this album Holy Blood plays a mix of symphonic black death folk metal, whereas Schandmaul plays "just" folk rock metal.
Note: if you are thinking on purchasing the "The Wanderer" album by this band you need to know that it isn't the same style. It's a more brutal style of metal but it isn't folk metal at all. It's still good, but it's not the same and I don't want anyone to get disappointed.

Customer Reviews:
Screams is a known punk classic. AYB is not bad........2004-12-22
When Screams came out in 1984 it was certainly the first Italian HC record to get wide attention in the world of punk, outside of Italy, particularly in the U.S. as it was released by a U.S. label cuz it was recorded in Indianapolis two thirds into RAW POWER's first U.S. tour. Paul Mahern of Zero Boys produced it at the studio he worked at. It was recorded in one day.
Davide was the only non-original band member. He took the place of the original bassist who was also the original screamer who did about 6 songs including the classics 'Raw Power/F. Authority'. Davide brought a tinge of more metal hint to the guitar but mainly filled in great and he did a nice version of the screaming. What's really cool is that the band was already tight but they got to weave Davide into the set really solid playing about 15 or so gigs together before recording this album.
Once it came out it was, besides BGK from Holland, maybe the single most enjoyed and known non U.S./non UK punk album. There was PANDEMONIUM and LARM from Holland and [...] and TERVEET KADET from Finland. I think the 1984 tour also helped them get more known cuz I'm sure after punx saw them that many looked for the album and anything else by them cuz they were consistently powerful and musical and real alive on stage. I never met a single person who said they didn't completely dig one of the 1984 shows. I was lucky enough to see most of all 24 shows cuz me and my partner and my wife (still got the same wife!) organized the tour.
I don't have much knowledge of AYB. I've heard it like once. It's pretty good. Their albums, over time, got a bit more metal or rock until they just got out of hand until they turned it around back to great punk in the late 90's. Take my word for it, the guys were terrific. I'd never known anyone who had to each 3 meals a day pretty much on time and no snacks. Course, there was no weight problems either. Giuseppe and Dode spoke like 5 words in English. If I could scare up some Spanish they always knew what I was saying cuz the two languages are very similar. And when I used punk words like 'gig' or 'Minor Threat' we could communicate. Screams is a classic. You will not be disapppointed, assuming you did HC especially with double guitars and double bass drums and throw in a big 'ol rough Italian cow bell. Yow. A friend of Paul's actually video taped about 5 of the songs during the recording of this album. If anyone stumbles on him or his video please tell the band and/or me and Mr. Video taped the Philly show and UPS (the band) video taped them in Tucson. chrisbct@hotmail.com
Italy's veteran hardcore band's 2nd and 3rd albums on 1 cd.........2003-11-10
And what a cd it is! Their classic Screams From The Gutter album was such an intense masterpiece, it's hard to say for sure if they ever reached this kind of greatness again(their still puttin' out strong releases to this day, unfortunately, their guitarist and founding member Guiseppe Codeluppi passed on in Oct. '01, but his brother, and other founding member, is keeping the band together and may be back in North America next spring('04), if they do and you haven't seen 'em, do yourself a favor and go, their live show is said to be amazing). However, the 17 songs that make up Screams... are all hardcore gems, State Opression, Hate, No Card, Don't Let Me See It, Raw Power, just to name a few. After Your Brain, released in '86, is pretty well more of the same, the only difference is their original guitarist plays on this one(apparently, he couldn't come across with them on their first US tour, so they brought Davide, who played on the Screams... album as it was recorded at Paul Mahern's studio in Indianapolis.), but the songs are just as strong, You Are Fired, We Shall Overcome, After Your Brain, Shut Up and Buy And Pay just to name another few. 30 rippin' tracks of pure, unadulterated hardcore to make your ears bleed. Again, Blink 182 and their ilk could learn a thing or two from Raw Power, but they probably won't.
Buy It, But It, But It!!...You'd Be Crazy Not To.............2003-03-18
One of the greatest hardcore punk bands to ever come out of Italy. They play a loud, fast, "raw," and furious brand of hardcore. This CD combines thier first two "American" releases "Screams From The Gutter" and "After Your Brain" which were both originally released on Toxic Shock Records back in the early eighties. It's worth every penny I paid for it just to have these two classic albums in my house again. Trust me it's worth it just for the anthemic track "We Shall Overcome" alone. Sadly guitarist and founding member Guiseppe passed away this past November 2002, after playing a footbal game in his hometown. R.I.P.

Very good.......2005-05-08
This is very, very heavy, very technical, creative and innovative death metal from a Christian band from Germany, who are just honest and sincere and don't try to force their beliefs down anyone's throat. Its as technical as Obituary, the vocals are deep, and very strong in the mix, not buried, riffs are medium to fast pace. The third song lasts over eight minutes and it is great. Best songs Come Closer and Existence.
The production is first class. The lyrics are nearly understandable. One song is in German, the rest in English. It can be ordered through Whilwind Records in Germany.
