I was a fan of Harris' "Sketches" CD which showed some good songwriting and technical skills, so I decided to give his next effort a try as well. I'll start by saying that Michael Harris is a pretty good guitarist. What we have on this CD is a 'pretty good guitarist' who solo's endlessly over electronic drums and unimaginitive bass lines through every track on the CD. It's not really shred, it just seems like random noodling and improv. There's no songwriting or structure here at all, which makes it all very tedious. When I played guitar I would record these kind of things so that I could go back and listen in on my own playing, but I never would have released any of that stuff on a CD for the general public. If this is what Harris was doing here, should have kept this one to himself and spared the rest of us the bore.

I'm a HUGE Michael Harris fan but his latest cd, Hurricane X, is his hardest & best! Harris rips thru every track with great tone! He gives Satch & Vai a run for their money..........Check it out!
