An indispensable and definitive collection showcasing the passionate genius of the late rapper. The album's nonchronological sequence highlights the contradictory impulses that made Tupac's music so commanding; the 21 well-loved "hits," some slightly reedited for legal reasons, are accompanied by four previously unheard songs. Of the new material, the raw-sounding "God Bless the Dead" has been the subject of the most speculation, owing to its subject matter: a eulogizing of the late Notorious B.I.G.--a mysterious feat, since Tupac was killed six months before Biggie. And, making its first proper appearance on a Tupac album, the B-side "Hit 'Em Up" stands as the most intense outburst of pure venomous rage ever captured on tape. Whether he's waxing political, philosophical, or just plain paranoid, Tupac's empathetic, charismatic style remains unmatched. --Charley Gothic

4 out of 5 stars i like this cd.......2007-07-25

i like this cd i;ve been wanting it for ever and finally i got it love it!

4 out of 5 stars good intro.......2007-04-24

if you don't have any 2pac albums, this is a perfect start. The songs are very close to what I would have picked for a greatest hits.
If you really like 2pac and rap, I would say skip this and buy each of his cd's instead. There still is some great material from him not on this CD

5 out of 5 stars Every track is excellent, but there are some Missing.......2007-04-10

Bad things don't exist on this album, every trakc is Pac at his finest. However there are so many more that should be on here, like Pain (which was omitted from Above The Rim and can't be found anywhere), F*ck The World, Pour Out A Little Liquor, and tons more!!! But yes the music is all amazing with my favourite tracks being
Disc 1:
1. Keep Ya Head Up - Incredible way to start the album
2. God Bless The Dead - Whether its about Notorious B.I.G. or not the song is amazing with a very creepy beat
3. Me Against The World - Very introspective
4. So Many Tears - Pac's darkest song ever
5. Hit Em Up - All my god!!! Calling this a classic diss to me is an understatement, even those other dudes ripped Bad Boy. By far the greatest diss song ever

Disc 2:
1. Brenda's Got A Baby - Was this a true story? on the music video that was on my resurrection DVD it said "Based on a true story" but someone else say it was made up. Well its a great song anyway
2. I Ain't Mad At Cha - Amazing Daz production and lyrics
3. Changes - Another very introspective track with a fantastic piano beat
4. Dear Mama - My absolute favourite Pac song ever!!! As you know, one of the reasons why many consider Pac the best rapper ever is because no one else could make a song like this. Look at 21 Questions by 50 Cent for example, he just sounds corny, this song is genious
5. Heartz Of Men - Some prime Pac lyricism with an excellent DJ Quik beat

Peace and Rest in peace to

Tupac Amaru Shakur: 1971-1996 (We all miss ya)

5 out of 5 stars 2 Pac Forever.......2007-04-04

This CD has to be a part of your collection if you dare to call yourself a Tupac fan. Tupac Shakur is not easily dismissed when it comes to music of the century. Yeah I said music, not just "rap" music. Music is felt and moves the listener, putting it in a category is not what qualifies it. Nothin but Cali Love for my homie !!!!!!! For all you haters, listen and learn how its done on the real.

5 out of 5 stars Pac's Life.......2007-02-07

Tupac Shakur 1971-1996 was one of the pioneers for West Coast Gangsta Rap in the 90's and despite being a fantastic MC he got just as much time in the spotlight for his lifestyle, cocky attitute, controvercial behavior, problems with the law and later his premature death. Many of his early songs were thugish gangsta anthems with explicit lyrics and at times it felt like Pac got trapped under that particular charachter, but that's only one side of the story. He portaited an ideal of a young stuggling black male with a troubled past that wouldn't get away from him. From time to time there were also songs that dealt with deeper subject like unwanted pregnancy of a young girl on "Brenda's Got a Baby" Friendship "If My Home Calls", Respect For Women on "Keep Ya Head Up" and premature deaths of homies on "Life Goes On". Tupac's versability and undpredictable behavior was fascinating and his sometimes very emotional sides aswell. He was far from the one-dimensional thug as the media wanted to make him. However, after two successful solo albums Tupac was sent to jail after sexual assault on a fan. While in Jail he started reflecting over his life and eventually his third album was penned, "Me Against the World" a very deep, serious and sincere album. Songs like, the title track, "If I Die 2 Nite", "Tempations", "So Many Tears" and ofcourse the touching tribute to his mother "Dear Mama". It debuted at #1 on the album charts making Tupac the first artist in Prison to top the charts. Perhaps it was also his greatest album too. Some fans however, didn't apreciate the changed Tupac and when his forth album "All Eyez On Me" was finally released it was a back 2 back album that mostly dealt with issues that made 2pac a star back in the day. It was a huge commercial success with hits like the westcoast anthem "California Love", "How Do You Want It" "I Ain't Mad At Cha" and "Heartz of Men". It was also the first ever double album in Hip Hop, making it an even bigger ambition. He also enjoyed great success with acting, other then starring against Janet Jackson in "Poetic Justice" in 1993, he was also making a few films later on. Sadly Tupac was shot to death in a drive by shooting in September 1996 and this ultimately led to an even bigger legacy of an Hip Hop soldier dying as an martyr, and rumours started popping up that he wasn't really dead, Considering there was and still is loads on unreleased material. And who killed Tupac, was it Suge Knight that was scared he would abandon his label? or was it a vendetta from East Coast Rappers?, or was it an old feud from somewhere else?. When Tupac died he was probably the greatest rapper alive, both enormously popular, controvercial and equally good writer and MC. He did use alot of samples to his music though and his lifestyle was a contributing factor to his legacy but he was a magnificient artist that sadly left us too soon. Like some people mentioned, this "Greeatest Hits" collection was released by Death Row and some minor hits weren't included, however you get most of the important hits and with 25 songs on this doubles album you shouldn't be dissapointed. Remember, 2pac was a very productive musician and released countless of singles and having them all included would make this album too long. Overall, Great Collection that captures his best moments. Rest In Peace.

5 out of 5 stars TRULY A GREAT COMPILATION .......2006-04-29

THIS ALBUM IS OFF THE HOOK!!!! I have to give it up for Bone Thugs and Tomica Wright (who is an executive producer on the album). A lot of people come out with trashy hits album, that are just thrown together for money. I may only be 16, but trust me I know. This is the exact opposite. It has 26 songs, and is a 2-disc. All real hardcore Bone Thugs fans, like me, must have this album. It has "Tha Crossroads", "Look Into My Eyes", "Thug Luv", and every song that has been a major hit for them. No song is missing. Bone Thugs are just so ORGINAL, TALENTED, and everything that rappers should be. It is worth every bit of your 13 or 14 dollars, or however much cds cost at your local music carrier stores. It's Bone Thugs, so you know you can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Bone Thugs the best in the game!!!!.......2006-04-03

Yo before I review this album, I only got to say one thing. BONE THUGS N HARMONY IS THE BEST RAP GROUP EVER TO BE IN THE GAME. I listened to them since I was 6 years old. I play all day, everyday, 24/7/365. They Thuggish Ruggish til' the day they die. Now back to the greatest hits, they have a lot of great collections of song on this album, the classic "Crossroads (from E. 1999) (sampled from Isley Brothers "Make Me Say It Again"), "Look Into My Eyez", "Foe The Love Of $", "1st of da Month", and etc. But my favorite song on that whole Greatest Hits is "Money, Money". This has been in my CD player since I first bought it. I can't wait till their new album come out in summer.

5 out of 5 stars greatest music .......2007-05-09

biggie is the best i enjoy this cd everyday ,biggie is awsome worth all its money i payed for it,

3 out of 5 stars So-so, but worth a listen.......2007-05-07

This has a few songs I really like and some I had never heard of. I wouldn't really say it's ALL of Biggie's hits, but it's definitely worth checking out.

5 out of 5 stars greatest hits to say the least.......2007-04-03

this was simply the perfect way to end the legacy. all the hits and no filler. i was even impressed with the new material which has been lacking in his posthumous deaths. a must buy for any biggie fan.

3 out of 5 stars half-filler .......2007-04-02

An artist with as influential (and short) a career as Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G., is done a disservice by an album like "Greatest Hits," especially since it was conceived as a tribute to the Brooklyn rapper 10 years after his tragic death.

While half of the release lives up to its premise with choice cuts from B.I.G.'s brief but brilliant studio album output like "Juicy," "Hypnotize" and "One More Chance/Stay With Me," the other half is muddled with posthumously-released cuts that are more vehicles for guest artists like Nelly and Eminem than true Biggie classics.

Removing the layer of artist purity, one would expect radio hits like the massive tribute release "I'll Be Missing You" or duets like "Mo Money, Mo Problems" (with Diddy), especially since minor hits like Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s "Get Money" made the cut. But no, sadly, neither of the first two tracks are anywhere to be found, while the latter track and "Notorious Thugs" (with Bone Thgs-N-Harmony) made it onto the album.

This album is worth it if you're only passively interested in Notorious B.I.G.'s biggest radio hits (and don't mind paying for a lot of filler). Serious fans and B.I.G. beginners should seek out "Ready to Die: The Remaster" and "Life After Death" and call it a day.

2 out of 5 stars what a shame.......2007-03-09

i can go and pull out all my cd's and come up with over 80 minutes of music that would easily be a reasonable greatest hits album, but they cheepshotted us. Why? I don't know, other then to try and make a profit by having a couple new songs. I love Cypress Hill, but HATE this tactic.

Only reason i gave this cd 2 stars and not one is because i love the songs on here. Even though i have played each and every one to death before this cd came out, i was glad (previous to seeing the lacking track list) to see them finally release a greatest hits album. With efforts like this, they wonder why the music industry is suffering. give people what they pay for, a full cd, especially for those who had invested in all the prior cd's that allowed to make a greatest hits.

3 out of 5 stars BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!!.......2006-01-22

Im a die hard cypress hill fan , i have every album in their catologue. Their last record til death had mix views. But fans want their eagerly waited "lost temple" unrleased album from their time of temples of boom 1995. The album has not been reeased, instead we have a half done very weak done greatest hits. This album is 12 tracks incl 2 new tracks , which are not standouts. Which means we have 10 great teracks. WTF!!! , We are missing 12 more tracks at the least. This is not even half the greatest hits. You will save money and disapointment if you just buy their 1st three albums which come in a box set. I will give this 2.5/5 3 cuz you cant.
Usually on greatest hits , you have their best songs ... This album misses out 60 percent . And i seriously hope they dont bring out volume 2 instead of lost temples.
I wouldnt buy the album for the new tracks either.

3 out of 5 stars good but not what I expected.......2006-01-01

Cypress Hill has always given their fans all that and then some; maybe that is why I am left wondering where disc 2 is in this package. This "greatest hits" compilation has only 9 songs from a group that has been putting out top-shelf albums for about 15 years. How can that possibly add up? Don't get me wrong, there isn't a bad song on this cd, but there is so much missing. What would've really worked well for the fans would have been a 2-disc package with the first having songs from cypress hill, black sunday, and temples of boom. The second could pick from IV, skull and bones, stoned raiders, and till death do us part. Also throw some live joints on there ("aint going out like that", "can't get the best of me") from the Fillmore show, and that would be more on the level with showing what the Hill is all about.

3 out of 5 stars A Good Starter Set, but not Definitive--.......2005-12-16

This compilation has several, though not all, of the key cuts from their highly influential first two studiio LPs..

Cypress' Urban radio play diminished as time went on, with pop/rock soon to follow.. Still, there were plenty more songs from their later LPs that should have been included, like the 'Throw your hands in the air' Erick Sermon remix, 'Boom biddy bye bye' Fugees remix, 'Trouble' and 'What's Your Number'.. the new songs, including a reggaeton experiment, are admirable..

All in all, Cypress really deserves a 2-disc set-- Since they spent their entire career thus far on Columbia/Sony, One can only hope that there may be an "Essential Cypress Hill" on the way, maybe in 2006.

For now, listeners are encouraged to get the first 3 studio LPs, plus their first Remix EP (if it's still in print)..

3 out of 5 stars A Greatest Hits That Needs Improvement............2005-12-14

I have been waiting, patiently, for a new album from the Latin Thugs. When this album hit stores, I was kinda disappointed in it. Only 10 songs from all of their material, which base all the way back to 1989. It was disappointing that songs like "Pigs", "Lowrider", "Boom Biddy Bye Bye" and others songs that were classics, did not grace the album. However, the two brand new songs only make up for a small effort. But, for the die-hard Cypress Hill fan, like myself, it shows that they can still make great "hits from the bong". If you really love their music, this is for you. But, if you are looking for every single hit that they have had over the course of their career, then, this is definitely not for you.

Public Enemy is not the kind of group that does compromise--either you own It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back and its explosive follow-up Fear of a Black Planet in their entirety or you simply hate music. So use this all-too-brief primer merely as a map to find your way to the albums that actually shook the world, mixing blunt politics with hard-hitting beats and Chuck D's prophet-like zeal for affecting change. If nothing else, tracks like "Bring The Noise" and "Fight The Power" serve as timely reminders of how much power hip-hop can wield when not tripped up in name-calling and bitch-slapping (D famously dubbed the genre "CNN for black people"), while on "911 is a Joke" Flava Flav proves there's a fine-line between laughter and tears. --Aidin Vaziri

5 out of 5 stars If you don't have this, you're your own enemy.......2007-07-20

Public Enemy had one of the more distinct and unique sounds of any major rap group from the late 80s/early 90s, both as to the music and Chuck D's raps. They were big into social and political commentary with Chuck D blasting away at injustice and other BS over often disonant and clangy music, which actually served well to mirror and underlie the chaotic situations described in the lyrics. Flavor Flave played well off of Chuck with his interjections, which added "flavor" to a number of tunes. Some reviewers dissed this a bit because it didn't have a certain particular tune that is their favorite and they just can't imagine it not being on a compilation. O.K., if you're that hardcore, buy all the individual albums. This CD is just a great overview of a rap group with one of the more unique urban sounds and insistent messages. Particularly worthy raps:

Don't Believe the Hype
Fight the Power
911 is a Joke [Flav shines here - reviews emergency services in the city]
I Can't Do Nuthin For You Man - another big role for Flav
Shut Em Down - heavy rap
By the Time I Get to Arizona

3 out of 5 stars ok, wanted a little more variety.......2006-11-11

not bad, but i thought it'd have some of the other well-known hits on it as well. good for reminiscing about my youth!

5 out of 5 stars This is what got me into Public Enemy!.......2006-08-01

Without a doubt, hip-hop was in its prime during the late 80's and early 90's. Unfortunatly, I didn't even exist untill '91...I was born into the generation of cookie-cutter "gangsta" (c)rap like 50 cent and lil john...oh, how lucky am I...

Anyway, I had heard a few samples from p.e. on tv and the internet, and decided to look for one of their cds. They sounded so different than anything I've heard before. Chuck D's vocal energy and style grabs your attention right away, while Flava's crazy wierdness keeps you hooked. While looking through Wallmart's cd selection, I came across this cd and decided that a greatest hits cd would be a perfect introduction to a group I had never really listened to before.(It was only 10 bucks, so what harm could it be?) Lemme tell ya, after listening through the cd once, my jaw was dropped, and I was floored.

First off, for any fans of pop-rap with candy-coated beats, this cd is NOT for you. Public Enemy are raw, hard, and abrasive. They're definatly not for everyone.

Second, their lyrics are political, and confront many serious issues that were being ignored during that time. Pay close attention, and you'll see that they actually have something important to say and aren't just grunting about their cars, money, hoes, bling-bling, whatever.

Finally, while their music may sound somewhat cacaphony at times, they were definatly way ahead of their time. They have the rare ability to make seemingly clashing noises work together in an intriguing and almost harmoneous way. For example, "Rebel Without A Pause" uses a repetitive screeching tea kettle in the background, which would be ear-drum-breaking in any other circumstance. However, combined with the song's heavy bass and Chuck D's lyrical wit, the kettle becomes less of a nussance and more of an actual instrument that enhances the song's quality. (Yeah, that sounds really stupid, but I don't have any other way of describing it.)

So yeah, that's another one of my rambling reviews. I would recomend this cd to hip-hop fans who are open-minded and ready for beats that are rough and different from anything else. I've become a huge fan of p.e. because of this cd, and I plan to buy more of their work. That's all for now. PEACE

5 out of 5 stars PE Keep Bringin That Noise! [and sonnin' Viper].......2006-07-06

What else can be said about this release? The entire collection of singles (from their Def Jam period) from the most important and influential group ever. It doesnt get much better than this.

Public Enemy albums are consistent affairs with segues, inserts and instrumentals acting as the musical glue for each release. Some have therefore argued that listening to the singles in isolation is a less cohesive affair. I disagree. While Chuck D maintains that the group has never been singles orientated, their discography begs to differ: throughout the early 1990's, Public Enemy single releases were massive affairs accompanied by groundbreaking videos and fantastic cover art. Remember that "Fight the Power" only appeared on "Fear of a Black Planet" some several months after it "hit" - as did the B side release of "Rebel without A Pause" prior to "It Takes a Nation of Millions...".

This collection of singles reinforces their creative output, musicianship and legacy. The groups most commerciably accessible offerings are all here in their high-rotation-strong-unit-sales glory: the aforementioned "Fight The Power", "Hazy Shade of Criminal", "Shut Em Down", "911 Is A Joke" and the hugely popular "Give It Up", arguably the groups most successful single in terms of retail sales.

PE have crammed 18 cuts on to this release - but this just barely represents their release schedule. There are several cuts that have been released as singles and/or videos that are ommitted, including "Livin In A Zoo" (from the CB4 soundtrack), "Get off My Back", "Shake Your Booty", "I Stand Accused", "Louder Than A Bomb (Remix)", "Anti N*gga Machine/Burn Hollywood Burn" and the love-it-or-hate-it Anthrax thrash version of "Bring Tha Noize". A double disc edition with say, 28 tracks would have been nice - but then again, Def Jam/Universal dont want to cannibalise any trailing album sales the groups catalogue may still command!

Oh yeah, the reviewer "Viper" is the embodiment of the typical ignorant white American youth that PE originally set out to educate! Its unfortunate, but he of his ilk will never understand what true hip hop is or represents. "Hip hop" to Viper and most other Generation Y'ers constists of gun toting and talking about how much money you have and how many "biyatchs" youre doing. Grafitti? Breaking? DJ'ing? Beatboxing? Get outa here - that stuff's ancient, right Viper? Cats like Juvenile and Fitty Cent are the truth yeah!? heheheheh!!!!

Not all is lost though - I know plenty of young cats who take the time to check their history and educate themselves. Its just that people like Viper are already a lost cause - this album is the antithesis to his played out, thugged out BS so it will never get heard. But thats okay, cos dudes like me will never check for G Unit or Juvenile - so like PE's ratio of message:music, in the end there is some balance...

5 out of 5 stars Kids, put away your Paul Wall and Nelly albums...this is some REAL rap music.......2006-04-12

Def Jam finally did what was right and released a complete Public Enemy greatest hits compilation. All of the PE classics are here including "Fight The Power", "Welcome To the Terrordome", "Bring The Noise", and "Can't Trust It". If you are not familiar with PE, this compilation is a great opportunity for you to become acquainted with one of the greatest rap groups of all time.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Vol. 15.......2006-07-19

Another day, another 'Now!'...and 'Now! 15' sports some decent tracks here, starting with No Doubt's 'It's My Life' which isn't my favorite No Doubt song, not by a long shot, but it's No Doubt and they rarly put out anything you need to avoid. Next up on the plate is 'Toxic' by Britney and I don't really need to say anything more than, whether you love or hate her, 'Toxic' is one of the most infectious songs I've ever heard. I haven't met one person who doesn't like this song. Sarah Connor gives us 'Bounce' which was kind of a sleeper. I mean, I had heard the song a bunch of times but never knew who sang it, and sadly I didn't care to find out. Not that it's a bad song, just not that memerable. Jessica Simpson also shows her face here with one of the most annoying songs ever...'With You'...I don't know I just hate her.

Beyonce also fails to deliver, for 'Me, Myself & I' was one of the only songs off 'Dangerously In Love' that I hated. It kind of floors me that they included Eamon's track, even though it was such a huge hit. It's just one of those songs I think totally loses everything with half the words taken out.

For the most part the rap here is strong...Luda delivering on 'Stand Up' and he also lends his talents to Chingy's 'Holidae In' but it's Westside Connections 'Gangsta Nation' featuring Nate Dogg that takes the crown as best track on the album. It's smooth vocals and tight beats make it a gem amoungst the rest. Nick Cannon and Baby Bash serve up mediocre tracks here, Nick Cannon still outshining Baby Bash (I can't stand this guy), and Black Eyed Peas pull off one of their best tracks ever. 'Shut Up' is perfect.

Sheryl Crow is good if not overplayed BIG time, but it's still a good song. Norah Jones failed to impress me with 'Sunrise' but that's just my opinion....I never really cared to listen to it. Fe Fe Dobson also loses my interest.

The rock set is good, Three Days Grace delivering the best rock song here...LOVE THAT SONG!!! Never really cared for Blink's 'Feelin' This' but Good Charlotte and Fuel deliver good ballad type rock sets, and Five for Fighting give us '100 Years' which is still one of my favorite songs. All in all this is a nice addition to the 'Now!' family and is sure to entertain most people.

4 out of 5 stars Now 15.......2005-08-03

Not the best Now album but not the worst either. It has 4 awesome songs that make the whole album worthwhile: "It's My Life", "Toxic", "With You", and "Sunrise." I would buy it just for those 4 songs.

4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2005-07-14

I really like Now 15, especially since Eamon is on it.

1. It's My Life - No Doubt: C. It gets too old.
2. Toxic - Britney Spears: B. I like the groove in it. It could be better.
3. Stand Up - Ludacris: B+. I like this song.
4. Holidae Inn - Chingy: C. Right Thurr is a lot better.
5. Gangsta Nation - Westside Connection: A+ I love this jam. I like it when they say "party like Beyonce, face like Andre.".
6. Bounce - Sarah Connor: D+. I don't like it. She's trying too hard.
7. Shut Up - Black Eyed Peas: C. It's ok, I guess.
8. Gigolo - Nick Cannon: F. No comment.
9. Me, Myself, and I - Beyonce: A+. I love this song! At first I thought it was okay, now I love it.
10. Shorty Doowop - Baby Bash: B+. Good, but his voice isn't full.
11. I Don't Want You Back - Eamon: A+. I LOVE THIS SONG! I LOVE EAMON! HE IS SO GOOD!
12. With You - Jessica Simpson: B+. Good, but it gets boring sometimes.
13. Sunrise - Norah Jones: F. Way too slow.
14. First cut is the deepest-Sheryl Crow: A-. I like this song, and it never gets old for some reason.
15. Everything - Fefe Dobson: B. Great song, but too generic.
16. I Hate Everything About You - Three Days Grace: D+. Bland.
17. Feeling This - Blink-182: D. One of their bad songs.
18. Hold On - Good Charlotte: B-. It's good, but his voice sounds g@y.
19. Falls On Me - Fuel: B. It's pretty good, but needs better lyrics. Definitely.
20. 100 Years - 5 For Fighting: B+. I don't like it that much, but it's good at an end of a CD.

Overall, I gave it 4 stars. I upped the rating because it has Eamon, otherwise I'd probably rate it 3 stars.

LAST WORD: Buy it if you liked pop music from late 2003 and early 2004.

4 out of 5 stars I like this CD.......2005-04-29

This CD is good. This is what I think about each song:

1. It's my life-No doubt: B+. Like the song, and my parents also, since there is an original version that is at least 20 years old. Gwen Stefani had a nice-sounding, less screechy voice, but she sounds kind of like she is crying.
2. Toxic-Britney Spears: C+. I like it a little bit. I used to hate it when it came out, but after hearing it for the 50th time this summer, I decided "It's okay, but if I have to hear it a thousand times, I go crazy." It is one of my 9-year-old sister's top favorite songs. Britney does not show very much talent when singing this song, but when you hear it in the morning and don't play any other songs, you have it stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
3. Stand up-Ludacris: D+. I like rap sometimes, but not like that.
4. Holiday in-Chingy: I hate it. Weird-sounding.
5. Gangsta nation-Westside connection: Weird-sounding, don't really know it.
6. Bounce-Sarah Connor: B-. Good song, but again, weird-sounding.
7. Shut up-Black-eyed peas: C. It's okay, but don't make me listen to it a thousand times.
8. Gigolo-Nick Cannon: I hate it. I can already tell that it's too rappy for me.
9. Me, myself, and I-Beyonce: C+. It's okay.
10. Shortly doowop-Baby bash: Don't really know it.
11. I don't want you back-Eamon: B-. I like it, but his voice is really high.
12. With you-Jessica Simpson: A. Very romantic sounding. It sounds like she's singing about paradise.
13. Sunrise-Norah Jones:C-
14. First cut is the deepest-Sheryl Crow: C+. Too hokey for me.
15. Everything-Fefe Dobson: A-. Like the song. She sings nicely.
16. Everything about you-3 days grace: C. It's okay.
17. Feeling this-Blink 182: Don't know enough of Blink 182's music.
18. Hold on-Good Charlotte: Don't really like them. Skip it.
19. Falls on me-Fuel: Don't really know it.
20. 100 years-5 for fighting: C-. Don't like it. You can't get away from it. It's in every store you walk into. You can play it once, but not a lot.

4 out of 5 stars Not the Best But The Most Well Kown.......2007-03-29

Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin and Shame on A Nigga are the best songs out of these. Can It Be All so Simple.. I have a hard time not reminicing to that one. This song needs to be played on mega speeks. Strictly crew songs here except Can It Be All and Method Man. Don't think you can replace Enter the 36 Chambers with this comp. You're missing too much good music. In fact notice that all songs are from WTC albums. Think about how many songs that WU made that aren't represented here?!?! I mean on the individual ODB, Meth, Genius albums. Whoah! Real WU collectors will look past this CD and put up those fedz.

This album has grown on me more and more every time I have listened to it. Infectious, diverse, and original, this is one of the best places to start for an introduction to the musical prowress of the Clan and its members.

5 out of 5 stars Year 1992, Avant-garde Lyrics & Rap Style.......2006-06-27

These boyz are talented with the special gift of 'Vision for good rap & authentic lyrics' and that's not current. You don't see that often! These days rappers get lazy but back in the days, 1992 these artits faced the challenge of being creative and different. I love this CD and view it as a COLLECTABLE.
Mind's Playin Tricks on Me is timeless.

4 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits of the Wu-Tang........2006-01-14

Given the uneven career of Wu-Tang Clan, ranging from undeniable classics like Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers to weak (at best) efforts like Iron Flag, compiling a greatest hits package is bound to present some problems for its creators. The biggest question to answer: what can you offer to both people satisfied only owning their introduction, 36 Chambers, and those looking for an introduction to the group?

While creating a comparison to 36 Chambers would be impossible, Legend of the Wu-Tang: Wu-Tang Clan's Greatest Hits (BMG) serves a dual purpose: both as a Wu-Tang primer for the uninitiated and necessity for the diehard fan. Predictably, Legend draws heavily from the group's seminal debut 36 Chambers. Few groups, including Wu-Tang itself, would be able to top the success of 36 Chambers and it contributes nearly half the songs on Legend. To sweeten the deal for owners of 36 Chambers, alternate mixes of "Protect Ya Neck" and "Method Man" are provided. While the former is virtually indistinguishable from the original, the latter replaces the original with alternate verses and proves to be a highlight of the album.

In addition to the usual suspects from the "other three albums" - crowd bangers "Triumph," "Gravel Pit," etc. -- three more obscure songs previously released on non-Wu albums show up. The group sleeps through "Diesel" from the Soul in the Hole soundtrack, but fares slightly better on "Shaolin Worldwide" from the soundtrack to Next Friday and a cover of Run-D.M.C.'s "Sucker M.C.s" from 1997's In the Beginning...There Was Rap compilation.

In a perfect world, 36 Chambers goes the Ready to Die/Illmatic route and gets re-issued with remixes and rarities. But as it stands, Legend provides a solid overview of the Wu's career to date. Just make sure 36 Chambers is in your collection already.

It's about time. With eight albums to his credit and a reputation that stretches across the globe, someone had to pay tribute to Ice-T. But no one did, so he did it himself. From classics like "6 'N the Mornin" and "I'm Your Pusher" to the more commercial "New Jack Hustler" and "Colors," this compilation is the ultimate cross-section of Ice's hits and favorites. Sure, it may be 13 years worth of material on pimping, playing, and the drug game, but The Evidence demonstrates the strength of a hip-hop artist who's still doing it his way, even into his 40s. Production by Ice himself, Afrika Islam, and DJ Aladdin, among others, underscores the artist's often cinematic approach to hip-hop, with everything from break beats to live bass, ticking snares and guitar licks. If Ice-T is accused of being one of hip-hop's greatest then The Evidence makes him guilty as charged. --Kenji Jasper

4 out of 5 stars Ice is Nice.......2007-07-06

Good collection of Ice-Ts raps. Ice-T is kinda different from most rappers in that he doesn't rely on the beat and the flow so much. There's not so much instrumentation in his stuff, just a drum usually. Ice T relies on storytelling. His delivery is rough, but that works for his stuff. He conveys the no-nonsense business attitude [and sometimes teh menace] of the streets. Contrary to so many critics of rap, Ice doesn't do a lot of glamorizing. He's just gritty realism. Here's some good raps:

6 in the Morning

I'm YOur Pusher

High Rollers

Original Gangster

Colors - tune from the movie

I Ain't New to This

The Tower - song about going to prison and the scary life inside. Great line: "who's got the power, the whites, the blacks, or just the gun tower." Makes a listener really want to NOT go to prison.

Money, Power, Women - starts with Al Pacino's quote from Scarface. Cool.

Looking at my list, it's pretty long. I think I have to say this album is a strong 4 stars, almost 5. If I were more of a serious rap fan, maybe I'd feel it was a 5. Whatever, this a solid CD with serious rap, good storytelling.
You Played Yourself

5 out of 5 stars Old school gangsta rapper with something to say.......2007-06-18

Here it is, The Evidence from one of the first and best. This CD is so awesome, I love it because it makes you think about things long after the music has stopped.
The first half of this album is remarkable, so many great beats with smart lyrics. I can't really pick a favorite, but I really love the message of track 2, I'm Your Pusher. He tells the self-destructive drug users "You don't know what time it is". Instead of pushin' the rock he's pushin the music. It might sound foolish or silly to some, but I like that positive message about keeping a strong mind.
Then there's track 4, You Played Yourself. It's genius, basically saying stay real to yourself. He preaches "stupid, ignorant--don't even talk to me. In school you dropped math, science, and history. Then you get on the mike and try to act smart. Let me tell you one thing, you got heart". Brilliant. Or he mentions "you thought you could do dope and still stay cool? Fool...you played yourself.
Then on track 6, Original Gangster, he paints a vivid picture of the chaos that surrounds South Central L.A. If you listen to the lyrics, you'll get caught up in the sad violent whirlwind that is constantly spinning. He exclaims "I'd be a true sucker if I act like I didn't care".
And of course there's New Jack Hustler. Nuff said.
There are so many other masterful tracks, like 6 'N The Mornin', High Rollers, Colors, Power, The Tower...man, I better stop.
This album is simply a must own. Once again, nuff said.

5 out of 5 stars All Of The OG's Best In One Place.......2005-07-01

Ice-T is known as the first true "gangster rap" artist. He earned this title not by using excessive violent and vulgar language, but because he told true stories about the life of people in the streets. Tales of husters, pimps, gangsters and prisoners are all told, as well as a few true stories from Ice-T's own life. Every song on this compilation is a classic. If you want to hear real rap music and not crunk pop garbage such as Lil John and Chingy, go to the nearest record store and purchase this collection.

3 out of 5 stars Well I guess that's it.......2004-02-13

With Ice-T making bad movies and silly TV shows, his singing days are over. He probably did this to get out of his contract and be fully available to star in the 'Facts of Life' Reunion tour. I hear he's going to play Mrs. Garret's long lost pimp.

5 out of 5 stars THE ICEMAN COMETH........2003-11-05

4 out of 5 stars Cool Cube.......2007-07-06

Ice Cube's Greatest Hits is solid, tho not great. He's not as catchy by himself as NWA was as a crew. Nevertheless, this is good rap, telling stories from the urban streets. Also, unlike NWA, there's not teh element of glamorizing gangsta stuff. Ice Cube just tells it like it is, with gritty realism, including acknowledging that the stuff is bad. Here are some notable raps on this disc:

Check Yoself - includes a cool line from the Grandmaster Flash tune "It's like a jungle sometimes it makes we wonder how I keep from goin' under."

Once Upon a Time in the Projects - descriptive, kinda humoress story about getting caught up in a bust when he visits his girlfriend in the projects

It Was a Good DAy - raps about how it was a good day, just cuz none of the usual bad stuff happens.

My Summer Vacation

Bop Gun - really energetic and bouncy

I agree with many of the reviewers here, and there are a ton of classics missing from 'Ice Cube's Greatest Hits'. This is a very good collection (with a new tracks & remixes!) to start off with if you simply want most of the popular hits, BUT there's room for at least 3 additional tracks, and I just HAD TO remaster the CD myself (sorry I can't wait for the record company to wake up!). If you have 'Ice Cube's Greatest Hits', consider adding the following classic joints as BONUS TRACKS -

18. 'No Vaseline' (fr.1991's 'Death Certificate')
19. 'Wicked' (fr.1992's 'The Predator')
20. 'How To Survive In South Central'
(fr.1991's 'Boys In The Hood' SDTK)

Overall, Ice Cube's 'Greatest Hits' CD falls a little short, BUT you can take it up a notch by adding these 3 tracks for a cool 20 track collection!!
Peace, SD

1 out of 5 stars I think this isn't entertaining........2006-05-07

I think this album is boring. I think it doesnt do its job. I think ice cube is a wannabe. I think he needs to get a real job. I think this broke very soon after i got it. I think this won't play in most cd players. i think the cover looks stupid. i think it gave me the idea to put an ice cube in the microwave. i think art is stupid. I think i don't recommend this. I think ive said enough

Eminem's four studio albums shattered so many sales records that you might think just about every man, woman and gerbil on the planet already owns a bulk of the songs that make up this greatest hits collection. But Curtain Call presents the perfect opportunity to have another look at the life of Marshall Mathers. Starting out in the vein of the Beastie Boys and Slick Rick, he grafted filthy verses over bubbly nursery rhyme melodies and primitive Casio beats to come up with comical singles like "My Name Is" and "Real Slim Shady." Then angst and reflection set in, resulting in rare moments of vulnerability ("Lose Yourself") and a richer musical experience ("Stan"). One of the new tracks, "When I'm Gone," is a bittersweet goodbye letter, signaling the raw emotion and youthful enthusiasm of his early days have substantially faded. --Aidin Vaziri

Album Description

Curtain Call includes two new songs--"Shake That" (featuring Nate Dogg) and "When I'm Gone"--both written and produced by Eminem. In addition, the Curtain Call bonus track marks the album premiere of the controversial Eminem-Elton John live duet of "Stan" from the 2001 Grammy Awards presentation.

Executive produced by the nine-time Grammy winner, Curtain Call boasts all five of Eminem's gold and platinum singles to date, from the platinum, Oscar, and two-time Grammy-winning "Lose Yourself" (#1 Pop/#2 Rap) from the 8 Mile soundtrack and platinum "Just Lose It" (#6 Pop/#7 Rap) and "Mockingbird" (#11 Pop/#10 Rap) to the gold "Without Me" (#2 Pop/#5 Rap) and "Like Toy Soldiers" (Top 40 Pop). The other Grammy winners included are "My Name Is" (Top 40 Pop/#10 Rap) and "The Real Slim Shady" (#4 Pop/#7 Rap). Also heard are "The Way I Am" (Top 30 Rap), "Stan" (featuring Dido) (Top 40 R&B/Hip-Hop), "Sing for the Moment" (Top 20 Pop/Rap), "Guilty Conscience" (featuring Dr. Dre), and "Cleanin' Out My Closet" (#4 Pop/#5 Rap).

Curtain Call: The Hits spans contributions from all four of Eminem's major-label solo albums: 1999's quadruple-platinum The Slim Shady LP, 2000's nine-times-platinum The Marshall Mathers LP, 2002's eight-times-platinum The Eminem Show, and 2004's Encore, which is almost five times platinum. The three most recent charted #1 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop, with his major-label debut #2 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop. Each of his first three albums also won the Best Rap Album Grammy (Encore will be eligible for the 2006 presentation). Eminem has to date sold more than 65 million albums.

1 out of 5 stars This CD is censored.......2007-07-16

This is great music but this version of the cd is censored with heaps of dropouts and blank spaces making some parts of the songs not understandable. You're better off going to your local record store and getting the cd with the warning sticker on it.

5 out of 5 stars My 9 month old boogies to Eminem.......2006-09-06

I was very excited to see a clean copy of Eminem for my little 9 month old son. Being a little man, he does have a lot of rhythm and really enjoys the music. Notably, "Shake That." He can shake it...
