Album Description
Chicago's PONYS follow their two critically acclaimed albums on In The Red with their Matador debut, recorded at Electric Studios with John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Son Volt, Screaming Trees). A classic twin-guitar rock band fronted by the impassioned vocals of Jered Gummere, THE PONYS' songwriting range from psych jams to pounding rockers to twisted singer-songwriter material, evoking influences from Television and Dream Syndicate to The Only Ones and The Jesus and Marychain. Turn The Lights Out is denser, noisier and more fucked-up than its two predecessors, and sounds bigger to boot. The complex interplay between the guitars and the reverb-drenched vox and keys emerges more effectively than ever before in Agnello's massive production.

Little album of energy........2007-05-27
I love chick bassists!!! Anywho, great musicmanship and nice hooks and melodies! Great things will arise from this band. I love you Melissa.
I cant believe more people havent reviewed this album.......2007-05-08
If you like the pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, etc. you'll love this CD. I'm more of a fan of indie rock than the forementioned bands, but I love it nonetheless. There's something here for everyone.
great new LP from one of the best bands in the midwest.......2007-04-24
It is safe to say that if you liked the Ponys before, you will still like them. If you have never heard them, NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO GET INTO THEM. There are some incredibly catchy songs on here that just stick in your head like glue: Double Vision, Small Talk, Harikiri, etc. I forsee these songs being all over mixtapes this summer!
This is a great LP, influenced by all the great classics like TELEVISION (particularly the vocals), FELT (not as British, but its those vocals), THE PIXIES, JESUS & MARY CHAIN, DINOSAUR JR, etc. The guitars are not as loud & abrasive as they should be (at least I think) but let's hope they fix that for the next LP.
They have been selling out gigs here in Chicago for a couple years now but hopefully their appearence at the Pitchfork Music Festival this summer will introduce and endear them to alot more folks! Good luck to this band, I think they would be a great opening band for an upcoming SPOON or TV ON THE RADIO tour or something.

Not too shabby.......2006-04-10
One interesting thing about this album is that Tycoon member Mark Rivera later went on to play a prominent role in Billy Joel's band as the sax player. "Such a Woman" is the star of this album, but I also liked "Out in the Cold" and "Drunken Sailor".
Disappointing.......2004-05-28
I bought this CD because I know one of the guys in the band. People in an internet discussion group I belong to described it as a kind of poor man's Foreigner or Palbo Cruise (as if the poor man didn't already have Foreigner and Pablo Cruise!). The playing and singing is perfectly fine, but most of the songs just zipped past me without leaving any impression at all.
The reason I'm posting this review, however, is to point out the fact that the single disc I received from the Marketplace listing did not include all the songs from the original two disc set. I can't say I was crushed emotionally by this, but let the buyer beware.
Top-notch 70's power pop!.......1999-09-24
Let's face it, the main reason to buy this CD set is the song, "Such A Woman." I have looked for this title on CD since CD's came out, and only recently was finally able to find it. "Such A Woman" is clean, tight, power pop/rock at its finest. The recording is high quality and the mastering is flawless. The clip available on amazon.com is not indicative of the power of the song, however. It is a romantic, desperate, cry for a good woman. If you like Toto's "Hold The Line," this song is in a similar vein in terms of guitars and harmonies. The rest of the music on the 2 (!) CD's, while very good, do not match the emotional impact of "Such A Woman." Highly recommended.

Product Description
This Instrumental CD is the ideal "turn out the lights, sit in your favorite chair, close your eyes and forget about your problems" album. This is Chris' first solo project recorded in Sydney, Australia in 1989. An Insturmental album with the sound and feel of a movie soundtrack. Over the years Chris has always featured a set of contemplative music in his concerts and after constant requests from fans and friends he re-released this CD with 2 bonus tracks in 1998.

Not what I expected.......2006-12-30
This is my second Chris Falson CD purchase. It just seems a bit canned. He uses electronic-sounding background stuff, more what I would expect from a new age type of recording. Some people might like that type of music, but I prefer his album The Quiet much more.
Great Smooth Jazz.......2005-07-13
For years I listened to this CD every morning just to get me calm. I love all of the songs and it's a great CD to just sit back and pray, or read the bible, or just chill. Great buy.

exelent is all i can say the guitar will drive you crazy great artist great sax & vocals good writing skills every song is strong the kind that just keep playing in your head till you hear it again a must have for texas blues lovers.
Fort Worth Legend.......2004-02-18
Robert Ealey is a Fort Worth legend! Texas blueds fans should own this album. The title track is one if his most famous. The guitar and beat on "One Love, One Kiss" is electrifying. The musicians contributing to this album have done a superb job of capturing that fat Texas sound.

Album Description
Following Schvendes' debut LP Outcast, Turn Out Your Lights has a dark, edgy sound drawing from a huge range of influences. On the first listen, the title track is the standout, with its angsty vocals complimenting the smooth cello sounds and the chorus' crashing snare, but after further listens Turn Out Your Lights appears to be one of those EPs on which every track shows promise. 6 tracks. Heathen. 2005.
