Substitute grits for glitz, soul for sheen, and wry humor for mythic self-regard, and the Amazing Rhythm Aces could have been the Eagles. Though they didn't fly as high commercially, the Aces' blend of rock, country, down-home rhythm & blues, and even gospel continues to satisfy on this combo reissue of the band's first two mid-'70s albums. "Third Rate Romance" remains the Memphis band's signature song and major pop hit, while "The End Is Not in Sight (The Cowboy Tune)" anticipated the changes in commercial country a couple of decades down the road. Rhythm aside, the key to the band's appeal is frontman Russell Smith, whose songs and singing transcend musical boundaries with amazing grace. --Don McLeese

Forget buying Hotel California. Set afire your copy of On The Border. Send Marshall Tucker to the back of the play list. THIS is country rock at it's finest.

4 Aces - Greatest Hits.......2007-07-26
Good CD. Not all the songs are their best. Needs to feature Al Albert more. It still is a good collection of the Fabulous Fifties.
The Four Aces.......2007-05-24
I remember hearing the Four Aces when I was a teenager. This album brings back sweet memories. It has all the songs I like. I recommend this album for anyone who wants to relive the 50s.
The FourAces.......2006-12-21
Definately, if you like GOOD music, you should give this a listen. Especially, and I can't stress this enough, Al Alberts ! He was the lead singer of the group and his voice stands out timelessly. You can't ( well certainly I can't ) help but sing along with these numbers. I would have given so much to be in the audience ( and I was born in '45 ) when they did "TELL ME WHY", a number that stands out over the years. If you enjoy pre - Rock and Roll, you'll enjoy this. THE FOUR ACES ( with Al Alberts ). Thank you.
For those that appreciate good music........2006-11-11
As in another album purchased this rates a 4 because only a few of the tracks were missing from my inventory of 600 CDs. As a proponent of good music this is another artistical group that should bring back memories of an era when great music was common.

You Gotta Love 'em........2007-06-12
It's the sounds you remembered and loved. It's nothing you've never heard before but it's something you haven't heard in a while. Classic Aces-- what more can you say? I've still got it in vinyl but it never sounded this good.
Toucan Do It Too/Burning the Ballroom Down.......2007-02-06
Two of the top Three albums this group made. Maybe the top 2.
The musicianship heard here is rarely felt or heard today.
The only thing that was ever bad about these albums,
was they did not get publicized well enough.
Toucan Do It Too/Burning the Ballroom Down.......2006-11-06
The Amazing Rhythm Aces are still Amazing! I enjoyed them in the 70"s and now I can enjoy them again. It's great that the old albums are out on CD.
Why don't you own this?.......2005-08-21
This, fellow ARA fans, is the real thing. The recordings are clear, the production very good and the songs are just as good as we remembered. There have been other recordings released on CD which should have never seen the light of day due to terrible original recordings, but don't worry this time. These recordings are a delight!
The Combination of "Stacked Deck" and "Too Stuffed to Jump" may overwhelm some people into thinking they have all of the classic ARA music if they own that CD. This is understandable because those two albums are incredible and have both of ARA's biggest hits: "Third Rate Romace" and "Amazing Grace (Used To Be Her Favorite Song)," but "Toucan Do It Too" combined with "Burning The Ballroom Down" is just as loaded with quality songs and performances.
My all-time favorite ARA song is "Burning The Ballroom Down" because of the music and, to me more importantly, from the stream of emotions that come from the singer's perspective. Russell Smith nails this song all the way from smugness ("I know why you're here by the look in your eye") at the beginning to near-desperation ("It might have to last me forever if I don't see you again") at the end. "Never Been To The Islands" kicks things off with a laid-back style that's easy on the ears, quickly followed by Smith's soulful rendition of "Never Been Hurt" for an excellent contrast.
Again, the musical styles vary across a wide spectrum with the music fitting the lrics and they are all good. The group that was too rock for country, too country for rock and just too eclectic for anywhere else was before its time, but it's given us some great songs.
Pick this up along with another great two-album ARA CD, "Stacked Deck/Too Stuffed To Jump" and their later, self-titled CD.
If you've never heard the Amazing Rhythm Aces, how do you know if you will like them? Do you like surprisingly thoughtful and often clever lyrics? Do you like excellent musicianship? Do you enjoy being exposed to different sounding songs on the same CD? You could do a whole lot worse than this CD and it would be hard to do much better.
Tops.......2002-04-05
I came to the Aces many years after they made their first recordings, and it felt like stumbling on a gold mine or discovering at age 40 that there was such a thing as chocolate. I first heard "Burning the Ballroom Down" on a bootleg tape, driving to Dulles Airport before daylight, and it was like being transported elsewhere. This is my favorite album of the 1000+ albums I own.

Customer Reviews:
It was faulty on the last title to be played The Carnival of Venice.......2007-06-01
I returned this to New Castle. Box 15550. I have heard nothing. The date of the return was 15/05/07 from my Throop postoffice in Dorset. I sent it recorded delivery. Over to you. There was nothing on the return screen to explain the fault. ie faulty track. So after many attempts to get intouch I sent it to the address on the paper inside the parcel. Please help.
I am a Grandmother so I am over 13 ???
Awesome Collection!.......2006-07-04
As a young boy I would play my trumpet from my father's old Arban's method book. My private trumpet teacher (Mr. Bonfield) would love to play duets with me from the Merchant of Venice. One day I heard Wynoton Marsailas play a a flawless rendition of The Merchant of Venice on my local clasical radio station. It was flawless and brought back many fond memories of studiying the trumpet as a youngster with my beloved teacher. This collection contains that rendition and a wide selecton of clasical trumpet pieces. You may not recognize every song, but you will enjoy the high quality of the music and artists on this CD. Anyone looking for an introduction to quality, classical, trumpet music should buy this CD. The price also makes this an affordable must for any true trumpet fan.
A Wonderful Collection.......2004-01-26
This is a splendid anthology of music. Traditional Baroque and orchestral pieces up front, and a few surprises nearer the end. A splendid work. The price makes it a steal. Add it to your cart. You will not be sorry. There is technical excellence - peace in some of the songs and real energy in others.
Wonderful edition to your trumpet collection........2003-10-21
Trumpet fans should all own this album, that is if they don't already own all of the pieces on here on separate recordings (it would take a while to obtain them all). This recording features a bunch of great classical trumpeters and innovators such as Armando Ghitalla, Phil Smith, Wynton Marsalis, Mark Gould, H.L. Clarke, Ron Romm, Charles Schleuter, William Vacchiano, and more. Great performances of Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 2", the Haydn and Hummel Concertos, Wynton's excellent performance of J.B. Arban's "The Carnival Of Venice", the New England Brass Ensemble performing "Trumpet Voluntary", a very good job done by a Baroque Orchestra of the Vivaldi Concerto for Two Trumpets, "The Three Aces" played by H.L. Clarke, and Leroy Anderson's classic "A Bugler's Holiday".
Overall this is a great listen to some of the best trumpet players of all-time in this idiom. All of the pieces are impeccably played by some of the best. I didn't discover this tape in my collection until recently, and boy I'm glad I did.
Quite the CD.......2001-04-17
If I were you, I would buy this CD. It is a diverse collection of amazing performances of quintessential pieces - an important addition to any classical music fan's collection. Heck, even if you're not big on classical music (or trumpet music or brass music or music at all) you should purchase this compact disc.
And comrades, let me say that you can't call yourself a member of the human race until you've heard Wynton Marsalis' performance of JB Arban's "Variations of Carnival of Venice." It's literally perfect. Buy this today.

Almost Genius.......2007-04-24
I bought these when they were first released (1993 & 1994). Bought the first one "Into the Twangy-First Century" on a whim - because I recognized Russell Smith on the cover. Smith was/is the songwriter/signer for the Amazing Rhythm Aces, one of my favorite bands of all time.
I bought them and made a conscious decision to keep them in good shape thinking: "no way these oddball recordings would ever be re-issued." Glad I was wrong for you Run C&W newbies . . . welcome to the club! The musicianship is amazing. I mean, listen to this line-up:
VINCE MELMED:SINGER/SONGWRITER who has played with the Eagles, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett, Dan Fogelberg, Bobby Womack, Rosanne Cash, J.D. Souther, Rita Coolidge and Danny O'Keefe.
RUSSELL SMITH: leader of the Amazing Rhythm Aces and writer of the classic song 'Third Rate Romance';
BERNIE LEADON: formerly w/ the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Eagles, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band;
JIM PHOTOGLO: prolific singer/songwriter whose most famous song may be the #1 'Fishin' In the Dark' by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
As Rug Burns would say, "'preciate it."
This Album Is A Ball!.......2007-03-26
I'm sure this album was intended as nothing more than a parody of '60s R&B music, with the humorous verse changes and anecdotes included. What transpired is a delightful version of these old standards done Bluegrass style by a very talented group of musicians. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
Great Listening.......2007-01-12
Greetings. I made the purchase and enjoyed listening. I took it to work, and it was an instant hit with my co-workers! We all listen to different styles of music, and we all love it! I ended up makeing a purchase of a second copy for one of my co-workers.
Not only is it, Just plain funny, but it is great to listen too at the same time. I recomend it to anyone, country music fan or not!
Bad to the Bonegrass.........2006-09-29
I bought these albums years ago, and somehow misplaced them; I can't believe that they are finally being reissued. Run C&W were doing bluegrass covers of Motown hits before it occured to anyone else; the difference is in their drive and passion for both types of music. Their music could easily descended into cornball territory if it didn't hit you so hard in the gut when you hear it. Highlights are "My Girl", "Walkin' the Dog", "Stop in the Name of Love", "Papa was a Rolling Stone" and on and on. Forget "Strummin' with the Devil"; these guys are the real Mccoy...

Album Description
In his all too short life, Bobby Darin accomplished more than most artists could ever dream. He was a teen idol, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, an Academy Award-nominated actor, a Grammy Award-winner, a folk rock stylist and a Vegas showman -- and that only scratches the surface. The consummate American performer, his artistry is far beyond what mere words could describe. Aces Back To Back, the long awaited Bobby Darin collection on HYENA Records, paints the entire picture. Produced by Joel Dorn, in conjunction with Darin's manager Steve Blauner and Darin's official archivist Jimmy Scalia, the CD/DVD set is the most comprehensive collection of Bobby Darin rarities ever released, drawing from long lost concert performances, previously unreleased radio broadcasts, out of print studio sessions and vintage film and television footage. High points include performances from his 1970s television variety show on which Darin delivers definitive renditions of his biggest hits including "Mack The Knife," "Beyond The Sea" and "Dream." Also included, for first time ever commercial release, are the fabled "Milk Recordings" that are among the only known Darin jazz vocal performances. The folk rock gems from his retreat to Big Sur are yet another invaluable addition highlighted by "Jive" and "Long Time Movin'." The DVD component includes performances from the aforementioned '70s television show, but the feature is the never before seen black and white documentary film that Bobby Darin was directing about his own life. Narrated by George Burns, the poignant footage captures Darin in the studio, with his family, performing around the world and finally from his comeback performance at the Coconut Grove. Aces Back To Back encompasses the brilliance of one of the 20th century's greatest artists like no retrospective that's come before!
Customer Reviews:
A golden nugget shining brightly !!!.......2007-07-09
Bobby Darin remains a titan in the entertainment industry. Despite the passing of time since his death, many people the world over enjoy his artistry on CDs. This CD/DVD set captures some of Darin's finest moments and gives us a rare chance to look behind the scenes at the man who was Bobby Darin.
The CD track set begins with "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big." This live track is an auspicious way to start the set--the first track truly IS the beginning of a BIG, wonderful CD/DVD set. Bobby sings with all his heart; and his warm, masculine voice is nothing short of a finely tuned instrument. Awesome! "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big" swings well; and the musical arrangement sports a Vegas flavor with great use of the horns, drums and percussion. Great! "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" gives us more of that Vegas feel while Bobby swings brightly without singing a superfluous note. Wow! The female backup chorus bolsters "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," too.
"A Quarter To Nine" shines like gold; Bobby sings with just the right mixture of sensitivity and electricity to produce a show-stopping number. Great use of the horns, too! "Alone Again Naturally" begins with Bobby performing the opening verse his own way before he goes into the ballad with an arrangement that more closely matches the original one by Gilbert O'Sullivan. "Beyond The Sea" gets the royal treatment from Bobby as he sings one of his signature songs; the audience loves every minute of it!
"Up A Lazy River" lets Bobby perform a slower paced ballad. Bobby takes this number and makes it his own by changing the tempo here and there. Awesome! When the audience joins in by clapping along with the beat of the melody you know Bobby has his fans in the palm of his hand! "Dream Lover" appears to be a studio take; Bobby sings this with all his heart and the light musical arrangement places Bobby's vocals squarely in the spotlight. "Moon River" has a few quick key changes in the guitar arrangement that make "Moon Rover" all the better as Bobby sings this very passionately.
"Mack The Knife" is a live track of another Bobby Darin signature song; and Bobby sings this with energy, passion and panache! The CD track set ends with "The Curtain Falls" which I believe was recorded in November 1963 at The Flamingo in Las Vegas. Excellent!
But there's so much more. The DVD gives us great color footage of Bobby performing on TV variety shows; the image quality is very good. We see Bobby performing huge numbers including "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big;" "Song Sung Blue;" "Beyond The Sea" and "Mack The Knife." Awesome! In addition, we get plenty of black and white footage rarely seen before by anyone. We see Bobby perform more songs; we get a mini interview with George Burns about Bobby and great candid footage of a Bobby Darin recording session. There's footage of Bobby performing at The Cocoanut Grove in 1966--and much more, too.
The CD/DVD set comes with a 23 page booklet that contains an essay by Joel Dorn about Bobby. There are great photos, touching stories about Bobby's kindness and quotes from famous people who were influenced by Bobby's work. You get the song credits and the artwork shows great forethought and good judgment.
Bobby Darin may have passed away but he lives on very realistically through his legacy. Bobby could do anything he put his mind to doing; and the songs he performs on this CD/DVD set prove that very amply. We are better off for Bobby Darin sharing his talents with us. I highly recommend this not just for Bobby Darin fans but also for fans of classic pop vocals.
Enjoy!
Aces back to back here--a terrific CD, plus a charming collection of live video cuts........2007-04-18
Anyone who loves Bobby Darin will treasure every moment of this two disc set--one DVD of video cuts, including some never before released black and white film, and one CD of twenty songs, including most of his biggest hits. The DVD reminds the viewer of just how young Bobby Darin was when he died. It is obvious that several of these video cuts--including "Song Sung Blue" and "All I Have to Do is Dream," done with Petula Clark--are from TV performances. Though most of the cuts look like Vegas, with lots of finger-popping, toe-tapping, and stage movement, the TV cuts are static--as Darin does not wander from close-up camera range.
The black and white footage, which was done three years later, after Darin's return from a self-imposed three-year absence from performing, includes two delightful stories told about Darin by George Burns, who first introduced him to Las Vegas, and also features Darin traveling en route to shows, with some casual shots of Sandra Dee and their young son. The sound quality of the music suffers a bit here, and Darin is often drowned by the orchestra as he rehearses, but the intimate charm of these cuts cannot be overestimated, and viewers will be thrilled to see Darin "live."
The CD contains many of his most famous songs, along with a few lesser known--"A Quarter to Nine," "Jive," "Rainin'," and "Long Time Movin'." The mixing is highly professional, Darin sounds like a more mature performer, and his arrangements are imaginative, with a wide range of instruments from bongos to flute. Many arrangements are virtually identical to those now associated with Frank Sinatra on the same songs (including the finger-popping), though Darin's raw honesty and real emotion shine in ways one does not usually associate with Sinatra. Darin's "Alone Again, Naturally," is powerfully moving in ways I hadn't remembered.
Though some Darin fans may be a little disappointed by the lack of detail in the liner notes regarding when and where these recordings and video cuts were made, every Darin fan will rejoice in the one-two punch of this CD and DVD. Pure delight, a great tribute album. n Mary Whipple
Bobby Darin at his best.......2007-03-17
Both the CD and DVD are brilliant, lots of unseen footage and Bobby Darin at his best, King of Swing, Great version of you're too good to be true and a quarter to 9, lovely duet with Petula Clark, If you are a Bobby Darin fan then this is a must have cd/dvd.
Aces Back to Back(Audio & DVD.......2007-02-02
Another great purchase for any fans, of the fiftys & sixties teen movies and romantic rock & roll teen idol's. This DVD & CD will take you back in time.
Simply Outstanding.......2006-09-01
If you like Bobby Darin , or even show singers , then I will do something I would normally not do - recommend !!
This album is simply brilliant . The arrangement is first class . Probably the best music arrangement I have heard. Darin is in good form , and if you only know the old favouites like Beyond the Sea and Mack the Knife , do yourself a favour and listen to his outstanding Quarter to Nine and Song Sung Blue - only second to Neil . And there are many more ! To finish , if you have heard a more moving and empathetic version of Alone Again , Naturally please tell me about it . A great CD.

Good songs, pleasant voice.......2005-05-03
Suzy Bogguss is probably one of the best kept secrets in country music. She has never really been a huge superstar like some other female artists, but her music is perhaps more real, heartfelt and honest than some other singers. She does not have a belting, shrieking voice like Martina McBride or Reba McEntire. And she is not as flashy or "pop-sounding" like Shania Twain or Faith Hill. She just sings pure, simple songs with her rich, textured voice.
This is probably her best studio album with strong cuts such as "Outbound Plane", "Someday Soon", "Letting Go" and the title track "Aces". I first bought this CD back in the early 90's when it was originally released. The tracks don't seem a bit dated all these years later.
If you are just looking for a Suzy Bogguss hits package that incorporates all of her hits, check out her "Greatest Hits". Recommended.
Phenomenal Voice and Style !.......2005-03-19
Suzy Boggus combines great country style with intelligent lyrics, and a unique voice and style that really make her one of the most distinctive female singers in Country. This Album is such a classic one, not dated in any way. Its commercially sound and would appeal to modern country fans, yet its also honest and sincere. All the tracks are great. The best songs being "Aces"- a great song about a trouble relationship, yet not sappy; "Outbound Plane"- a romantic upbeat tune, with an interetsing aviation theme, and the cathchy "Drive South"- a number sure to get you moving. Suzy is intelligent Country music with a crystal clear as sparkling water vocal tone that is sure to win over non-Country fans and true Country fans alike.
Good New Country Album.......2003-12-04
I have had this CD for several years and I am not disappointed. When I bought it, I was a teenager and didn't have the maturity to comprehend some of the subjects Suzy sang about, but now that I am in my 20's and have lived some more, I totally feel where she is coming from. I hear a woman who is mature and really knows and feels what she is singing about. She doesn't resort to fake histrionics, but tells it like it is. For that I commend her. Even though she hasn't had a hit in a while, I'll always remember her. I think being remembered is more important than scoring all the number ones in the long run. This isn't a traditional country album, but country music isn't all about twang, cowboy hats and bars. It is also about singing real life sentiments experienced by real people. Suzy Bogguss captures that beautifully and understatedly.
The Title Says It All.......2001-12-02
Suzy Bogguss had already released two mostly overlooked records by the time ACES arrived back in 1991. As the saying goes, the third times often the charm, and that was the case for Bogguss, who finally garnered not only long overdue airplay, but commercial success as well. It was also fortunate that this project arrived at a time when the term "country music" encompassed a wide variety of styles. Bogguss was, and never has been, country in the strictest sense--her tastes run more towards a hybrid of country, pop, and folk--she's actually very similar to early Ronstadt, if you have to categorize. No matter the category, all of Bogguss' strengths finally got noticed with what was arguably her best release yet. Among the several astute song choices, special attention must be paid to 'Outbound Plane', 'Someday Soon', and 'Letting Go',all well-deserved hits.ACES remains one of Bogguss' best records, and one of the better country-pop albums to come out of the nineties.
Honest Music.......2000-09-06
There is an honest and straightforward quality to this album which sets it apart from others I own. There are no flashy arrangements or glitzy orchestrations and no over-emoted vocals. Instead we get Suzy Bogguss' beautiful warm voice over rich band accompaniment. Steel guitars, violins, and the occasional harmonica give the music its gentle country feel. Thematically this album deals with separation - leaving, being left, being alone. The lyrics are remarkably uncliched, describing emotions and emotional situations in simple unadorned language. I have owned this album for many years, and it still seems remarkably honest and true.
Of the individual songs, "Outbound Plane" hits closest to home for me, reminding me of one of the most difficult breakups I have ever been through. "Letting Go", which deals with both a mother's and a child's emotions as the latter prepares to leave for college is a remarkably accurate description not only of the conflicting emotions I felt when I first left home for college, but of the similar feelings I had leaving college for grad school, and those I feel now as I contemplate my upcoming move to start my first job.
I consider this album to be an excellent, well-crafted, poignant piece of work. There is nothing which mars it in any way, it is pleasant to listen to, and most importantly, it speaks to my heart.

Underrated '80s group, solid compilation album! .......2004-09-20
I liked Go West's compilation album when it came out in '93. It covered 1985 to 1992 quite well. They made some very solid pop songs, even if they didn't have the sales of other '80s groups. I still like We Close Our Eyes, Eye to Eye, King of Wishful Thinking and others. They tend to venture into jazz a little bit with Still in Love. The '92 songs showed them maturing a bit with their sound with songs like Faithful, getting away from the cheery stuff. I noticed that on their Indian Summer Album. But one of my favorites is their nice remake of Bobby Caldwell's What You Won't Do For Love, perhaps their most played song to this day in stores, even if it peaked at No. 55 on the pop chart. And keep in mind that Ron Fair produced King of Wishful Thinking, the same Ron that did Christina Aguilera's first album, so he's been around more than a decade now! This is a very entertaining album, showing their growth as a group and their lead singer sounded good and soulful on many of the songs they recorded. They were very underrated a group back in the '80s and this compilation demonstrates their true talents.
As outdated as they come.......2004-01-22
Being a fan of the 80's music scene, I read a lot of positive feedback on the band, Go West, and decided to take a chance on buying their greatest hits in a used bin. Only being familiar with "King of Wishful Thinking" when looking at the track listing, I figured that they might be one of those bands that had hits on the radio, and you just didn't know it was them. In this case, "We Close Our Eyes" and "Faithful" are two such songs that were played ad-nauseum on the most commercial of radio stations, and certainly didn't help to impress me with the rest of "the best". The over-produced, over-synthesized sound that plagues the overall sound of this band makes bands like OMD and Erasure sound 21st Century by comparison. On top of that, I felt like I was listening to a Rick Astley album the whole time, and in my opinion, that is not a good compliment. If you are a fan of music that is played by radio stations that are home to artists like Michael Bolton, Celine Dion and other soft rock favorites, you may very well enjoy this album thoroughly. But by being mislead into thinking that this band had the potential to be in the class of other underrated 80's bands such as Crowded House, Dream Academy and Talk Talk, I am left feeling insulted that they fall under the same class of lackluster bands such as the Fine Young Cannibals and Simply Red. Instantly forgettable---go somewhere else to find better music.
Great collection from a band that some may not remember.......2003-11-04
Go West was one of several "blue-eyed soul" post-Wham acts that popped up in the mid-1980's. Go West's debut CD was very successful and garnered a few hits including the lively "We Close Our Eyes" and "Call Me", among others.
This retrospective is expansive as it has 17 songs and makes great use of what can fit on one CD to its benefit as some collections are either lacking songs or just filling space to give the illusion that more is always good.
Unlike some of their contemporaries, Go West's light did not burn out immediately after their first release and they enjoyed other hits, including the beautiful "The King of Wishful Thinking" and "Never Let Them See You Sweat", respectively from the "Pretty Woman" and "White Men Can't Jump" soundtracks. I am not sure how high other songs charted, but to me it's irrelevant as the vast majority are very soothing, including covers of "The Tracks Of My Tears" and "What You Won't Do for Love".
The lead singer has very soulful pipes in the tradition of fellow Brits Paul Young, Rick Astley, and Paul Carrack, and like the aforementioned talent lends itself to different types of songs. There is even is jazzy song titled "The King Is Dead" which deviates from the synth drum sound that dominated the mid to late 1980's. Although there are maybe 2 or 3 songs that are too generic, this release is cohesive, with a plethora of good songs which are representative of the band's time in the sun.
If you like any of the aforementioned artists and have not heard of Go West, you may want to give them a try.
If you are familiar with them at all and enjoyed "We Close Our Eyes", you'll certainly find much more from that well in this release.
the best of go west.......2003-08-19
great album although such a pity the duo broke off it seems such a lost without their songs ......
One of the most underrated and forgotten aces of music.......2003-08-14
One of the best compilations packages i've ever owned by an artist....the great 'From Baltimore To Paris', is a sunset sorrow song that isn't to be missed, neither one of their best, 'Tell Me' that definitely is one for the beginning or end of your party, when you're packin' it in, or just starting to bring over people - hey - you need these kind of songs - everybody always blasts loud stuff to start, well, this is a cool song to pick up the chats gradually or when you'r calling it a night. Thats' when I play it !!
"The King Of WIshful Thinking' or 'Faithful' cannot be denied as two of their strongest ones, and in my top hundred of fav songs of all time. A great new version of Smokey Robinson's 'Tracks Of My Tears' or the zippy up 'Call Me' and a phenominal sincere groove, 'What You Won't Do For Love' my personal favourite from them.
With every track here, it's too good to be true-every song on this collection was meant to be here. Thanks Go West, and hope to hear you recording again soon. We beg for it !!! Peter Cox and Richard Drummie KNOW HOW TO PRODUCE, WRITE, and COVER classics from time to time. True musicians.
Hey, yeah, you guys are Aces and Kings of music.
