I hope this thing gets a US release.......2003-03-08
Enuff Z'nuff are so ridiculously overlooked and underrated. You can pick just about any one of their records and find examples of brilliant songwriting. Welcome to Blue Island is no exception. It hasn't been released here in the US yet, but I got my copy from Chip after a show here on the east coast. The first 5 songs are spectacular. Donnie Vie and Chip Znuff are perhaps the best songwriting duo from the 80's, and while so many other 80's bands can't seem to write even ONE good song, Enuff Znuff do it OVER and OVER and OVER again.
Ricky Parent isn't the drummer that Vikki Foxx is (was), but he does have a few cool moments on here, as does Monaco (who handled all vocal duties on tour this go-round and was probably a better singer than Donnie, in my opinion, but I digress......).
If you like the Beatles-type songwriting, you'll dig ANY EZN record, including this one. I'd have to say this is perhaps the best CD I've purchased in the last year. By far.
Welcome to Blue Island Import.......2002-11-09
Over the past 11 years, I have listened to whatever I could find from Enuff Z'Nuff, which, after some hard searching, has been every CD they've released. Their latest offering (Import only so far), Welcome to Blue Island, stands as an exellent offering. The lyrical content shows a return to the late '80's rock era when bands like Poison and Warrant ruled the airwaves. The guitar-driven rock is heavy while not depressing and, in certain instances such as Sanibel Island and I've Fallen in Love Again, brings back the wonderful tones of their first two albums and Tweaked. The song Saturday is a great pop song that is fun to just play loud. The Sun is an obvious Tip of the Hat to their heroes and mine, the Beatles.
As I sit here, I am listening to this CD for the fourth time in six hours. While not as mature as albums such Paraphernelia and Seven, Donnie and Chip show their remarkable production abilities and, in their most stable lineup (Ricky and Monaco are very underrated players), the band play very smoothly together, creating musical textures which live up to my expectations.
I had only three problems with this CD. First, the bonus track, while interesting, is somewhat confusing. Is that Donnie singing? Second, it seems to fly by, giving the impression that it is shorter than it really is. The only other CD that seemed this short was Ten. Third, and last, the CD insert features a picture of the boys in the buff. As a male fan, I find this almost impossible to look at.
Overall, I enjoy this CD and proudly add it to my collection of Enuff Z'Nuff CDs.

Customer Reviews:
The first backwards step from EZN.......2005-10-16
To this point, I felt every EZN album improved upon the previous one (excluding Peach Fuzz, which was a compilation of material that didn't make the original albums they were written for). That trend had to eventually end, and it does so right here. It's not a bad album, but definitely not a step forward either. This collection lacks that one or two really catchy songs that every other EZN album has that identifies it. Tracks 3-6 are good, but possibly the best tracks are the "extras" HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY (if Howard Stern would've just kept his trap shut!) and ALL APOLOGIES. When your bonus tracks are needed to improve the album, that tells you all you need to know.
Another Gem.......2005-07-04
I don't know what album the reviewer below me listened to, however, it surely wasn't "Welcome to Blue Island". This album rocks, probably the hardest opening track of an Enuff album. Perfect mix of rockers and power ballads (filled with emotion-see 'Man without a heart').'Can't Wait' is another kick ass tune (rocker). Just get this, pop-metal simply doesn't get any better!!!
A true dissapointment from an almost legendary band.......2004-09-17
I bought this cd after being a fan of the band since their debut, but with every release since Animals With Human Intelligence, they've been slowly getting worse and worse and worse, and finally, this album, aside from a very few high points, is practically unlistenable. I don't know what happened to the band's edge. The seem to have traded their hard rock style for sappy, soulless alternative pop. I gave it two stars-One for their awesome past, the other is for a better future.
They Did It Again!.......2003-07-30
Enuff Z'Nuff haven't released a single album that's been worthy of less than five stars and that's quite a feat for a band with eleven albums! Their latest release, "Welcome To Blue Island" is no exception. "Z Overture" explodes into "Saturday" which has been stuck in my head for months now and that's not a bad thing! "Sanibel Island" is equally catchy. This album has been in constant rotation on my car c.d. player this summer for the various road trips that I've been taking as it is THE definitive summer C.D. There's not a throw away track on it! "Welcome To Blue Island" signals a return to EZN's harder rocking stuff. Don't get me wrong, their mellower stuff is equally brilliant. Guitarist, Johnny Monaco unleashes some savage shreds on this new release.
EZN have been touring this summer, but without vocalist Donnie Vie who is living in Los Angeles and persuing a solo career. I saw EZN live in support of their "TEN" album a couple of years back and I can't imagine them without Donnie. In my opinion, he has one of the most definitive voices in rock n' roll.
In any event, "Welcome To Blue Island" is pure art and perfection and even if you can't see Donnie on tour with the band, he definitely ROCKS the album!!!

welcome to blue island.......2003-01-18
Most underrated band in history. Another great cd by the znuff boys. If you like melodic rock and great songwriting, this is a band you must check out. Z overture starts it, rocking on all four's, right into saturday, which would be the single. other highlights are Sanibel island, men without a heart and the retro late sixties sounding ending.
If all bands were this good, I might turn on my radio again!.......2003-01-09
Enuff Z'Nuff is by far the most under-rated, over-looked band in the history of rock music. Once again they have delivered a work of sonic brilliance. While not quite as good (in my opinion) as "Strength", "Welcome to Blue Island" is still the best CD I've heard since the "Beautiful Creatures" CD (different Band). If you like rock music, do yourself a favor, and buy all the Enuff Z'Nuff you can find. If only all bands were this good, I might turn on my radio again!
Tremendous!!!.......2002-09-07
Another awesome effort, catchy, pop-metal!!! Tough to turn off, all the songs bring something to the table!!! The best album of this type of material to come out this year (or maybe in recent years)!!!
Awesome!!!.......2002-09-01
Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, they release this gem!!! Don't let the price scare you, if you are a fan of 'Hair' or 'Pop' metal this is the album for you!!! Not a bad song on it, and as the other reviewer stated once you put it in your player, it might not come out!!!
Must have for EZN fans.......2002-08-01
Solid album with hits Saturday, Can't Wait, Sanibel and more. Waring, once you hear it you will not be able to stop listening to this album! Enjoy!
