Julie Rrrrocks!.......2007-02-07
This album really surprised me. Originally bought it for 'The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun' expecting the rest of the album to be mostly comedy. But actually, most of the songs really rock and are very danceable. The production quality is above average and Julie Brown has an amazingly good voice!
Julie Brown, the white one.........2006-09-12
This album came off as I kind of expected it to. I always liked Julie Brown in her comedies, and on her own tv show for a bit, and this reflects her kind of humor. Alot of it is fairly funny, like the title track, "Girl Fight Tonight", and "I Like 'em Big And Stupid". All rather silly. But there's also a few tracks that make a legitimate try at pop music. They sound VERY 80's now, and do recall early Madonna, but the songs are decent and lightweight fun. My only big complaint is the absence of "'Cause I'm A Blonde", from the "Earth Girls Are Easy" movie. That's THE Julie Brown song as far as I'm concerned. Still, this is a good find.
Julie Brown is Awesome!.......2006-03-16
I had the tape in the 80s. I wore it out. My friends and I laughed and laughed till we wet our pants!
The Breakfast Club, Prince, Rick Springfield, Shoulder Pads, Leg Warmers, and Julie Brown are the 80s incarnate!
Only comedic effect........2005-11-28
If you're excited about music, don't bother. If you're in need of a comedy injection, continue....
Julie Brown cracks me up. This LP is well worth the cash. You'll dance, and you'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll burp.
HELP ME!!!
I'm trapped, in the body of a lesbian....
Love to all!

Julie Brown's campy tunes are classics. I've been looking for her CD for years now, and finally found it at JulieBrown.com. Buy it there so that the $$ go directly to the artist.

Album Description
Much like the first record, this album was founded in a situation of self-imposed isolation, with the band operating in states of little or no sleep, varying levels of intoxication, and physical confinement.

Random humans scuffling about........2007-06-24
I purchased "Telegraphs in Negative" and "Sings Reign" together.
Being from the 'post-rock' genre and having members from GYBE, I had very little fear that this would be a bad purchase. And I was right.
As I describe in my review of "Sings Reign", it's haunting, calming and inspiring... and to be perfectly honest I would probably rate these albums higher than most Godspeed albums (as well as Mogwai, ASMZ, etc) This record I don't like QUITE as much as "Sings Reign", but only by a narrow margin. This is a double disc album, providing 90 minutes of nightmarish dreamscapes... it is even MORE experimental than "Sings Reign" (the addition of more random human scuffling about) and you can almost sense how much more the band members are strung out or intoxicated or whatever. (If you read a blurb about these records, it is stated that they isolated themselves in remote locations with very little contact with the outside world and would stay awake for long periods of time)
In any case, I find both of Fire to Flames' records to be amazing bodies of work. Granted it is not the type of music for everyone. But whether listening to it intensely or just playing in the background... I think it will have a lasting effect on you.
A great addition for any ambient/experimental/post-rock collection.
hidden from uncrushed habits.......2006-08-08
your indie-suppressing derision wafts tragic like breeze through bombed out ruins. jump here while you can. it's nothing like that it's something completely different and unique and disgusting and beautiful. you can eat it with a spoon, but you would choose not to.
..........2004-09-09
The title aforementioned is the feeling I got from this album...emptiness. A reviewer on a UK site put it very aptly by saying this album is "all your beautiful memories and loves washed up in front of you only to wash away forever," or something like that. This album will drain you if you let it. On first listen you might not know what to think, because there simply isn't that much "music" on here. No real movements. Some songs are a single movement, some are nothing at all really.
So what is it exactly? Well...I'm not really sure. I kind of wanted to know what this collective group (comprised of members of hangedup, godspeed, fly pan am, and someothers(?)) was thinking while making this, or how they did it exactly. They do play things, but it barely has any form, but it's still cooridinated, which is really almost paradoxical. The tracks are very rarely sweet and are usually the worst/confusing/vacuous parts of your life put into musical form. It's almost like the imagery in a silent hill game but for your ears, which if you know what I'm talking about this is quite a thing to experience.
However, this is actually a very difficult album to listen to. One that you literally HAVE to grow accustomed to, because you probably won't really like it that much. I didn't. But after a second listen I was starting to GET it, and when you finally start to get it everything seems to have a bit more of a place. This is by no means a godspeed record, it's nothing close to that. I've heard comparisons drawn to f#a# but this is much more subtle and ambient. But I do feel like f#a# had much more of a purpose, because it does have movements and crescendos. But at the same time this emptiness is what is so attractive about these apparent telegraphs in negative.
On a side note, this cd has some of the coolest packaging I've ever seen. It's almost worth buying the album for this reason alone, I really mean it. It's damn haunting, and as esoteric as you can get. And naturally the track names put question marks in your head. Oh, and don't buy this from fatcat (record co.) if you're not in UK, it's damn expensive.

Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Master P's younger brother is at it again. But it's just the same as always. C-Murder is not messing with his uninspired but nonetheless platinum-plated formula. Following the success of his Life or Death and Bossalinie offerings, C-Murder returns with 23-tracks that are sure to impress his fans, but probably won't convert anyone else. Musical highlights include the heavily Tupac-influenced title track with its reverbed ad-libs and synthesizers. Then there's the guitar and pattering snare of "Forever TRU" and the eerie pianos and keys on "Staring at the Walls." But like his previous efforts the subject matter never leaves the streets. Titles like "Damned If They Murder Me," "They Want My Money," "Hustlin'," and "Young Thugs" speak for themselves. Tracks and musical ideas repeat like broken records. This is gangsta rap, not at its best, but adequate enough for day-to-day bump in your Jeep. But if you're looking for challenging hip-hop, with Trapped in Crime you're definitely looking in the wrong place. --Kenji Jasper
Customer Reviews:
trapped in filler.......2005-05-09
c-murder's third album "trapped in crime" is a so so effort. there are the songs that make you wanna crank up your system and those that you'd rather throw out the window. "trapped in crime" suffers from this. to start off, "forever tru" is pretty lame. the beat is a guitar lick of "nuthin but a g thang" and c's raps can't help the track. following that, though, is the standout "concrete jungle" featuring the eastsidaz and snoop dogg. this has a great beat and some heavy hitting rhymes. one of the best on the cd. "how a thug like it" features yet another classic verse from da brat and beat by jermaine dupri. "on da block" was alright. the hook was stupid but the beat was kinda catchy. "what you bout" wasn't too impressive. i had the bootleg version back when this came out in 2000 and this song has a better beat. they shoulda stayed with that. "nl n$#%@z" shows c's nice flow and has a great beat. there's a lot of extra filler such as "that calliope" and "they want my money" but there is still hope for this cd. "they don't really know you" is very innovative with the alarm clock in it, "thug in yo life" was his tupac-sounding ode to his woman which has this cool string styled beat. "damned if they murder me" is another song sounding like it was stolen from the tupac vault, but yet it's a smooth laid back track that will keep you listening. "down 4 my n's" was the single from the album and was a club banger, still is in my opinion, especially with that horn sounding beat and snoop's raps. but my favorite track on here by far was "ride". the featured a spectacular verse by d.i.g. and the chorus by ke'noe (i'm not sure). also the beat was off the hook! all in all this cd was 50/50 i'd probably give it like a C. i bought the bootleg version which had some extra songs, one in particular being the awesome "trapped in crime" which ironically did not make the album entitled "trapped in crime". there's no excuse for that. anyway if you can find this cheap then get it if not then burn the songs that i listed. i know C-Murder can do better but until he leaves the broken NL tank, we'll never know his full potential. also getting out of jail would help. free c-murder!
Good 3rd album from C.......2004-11-30
C-Murder returns after 18 months to bring you his 3rd album in as many years. Slightly less quality than his first two but it still is a good album. Only has 3 songs on here that don't feature someone else. Has 3 or 4 songs that I skip and one classic track and one real good one, most are average or pretty good however. Production duties are mostly handled by XL (8 songs) and Ke'noe (5 songs) with a few others contributing most namely Jermaine Dupri and LT Hutton. A good album to have for hardocre rap or southern rap fans.

Very Penetrating.......2004-05-30
Rumor has it that Cinnamon Moonpie (better known as C-Murder) had wanted to title his CD "Trapped in a Man's Ass", but his handlers warned that it might dampen sales. They also forced him to change some of the more explicitly homoerotic lyrics into more standard gangsta bling-bling tropes. Personally, I think the original concept would have been a refreshing change of pace. I've been waiting for a long time for a rapper with the guts to admit he's not afraid to love another man in the most intimately physical way. We've known for years about CM's tastes and proclivities, but the hypocrisy of the music biz forces gay rappers to hide their true nature beneath transparent macho posturing, lest they alienate their more dimwitted, less progressive fans. But if you read between the lines, it's pretty clear what they're really on about.
Say it loud, say it proud, my beautiful gay black brothers!
ONE OF C-MURDER'S BEST.......2004-05-26
THIS IS ONE OF NO LIMIT'S LAST GOOD CDS. THIS ALBUM CAME AT A TIME WHEN NO LIMIT WAS JUST BEGINNING TO GO UNDER. BUT, THIS CD HAS TO BE POSSIBLY EVEN WHAT MAY BE THE LAST GOOD NO LIMIT CD. ON THIS CD, C-MURDER RAPS WITH FIERCE INTENSITY ON TRACKS LIKE ''DOWN FOR MY N***AZ'', ''WHERE DO WE GO'', ''TOO MUCH NOISE'', AND ''WHAT YOU BOUT''. FOR ANYONE THAT LIKES C-MURDER, I DEFINITELY RECCOMEND THAT YOU GO OUT AND BUY THIS CD. THIS CD WAS ONE OF THE LAST CDS THAT C-MURDER RELEASED BEFORE GOING TO JAIL ON SOME MURDER CHARGES.
top notch.......2004-05-14
This was released at a time when NL was not doing too good. The 504 boyz' Goodfellas sold poorly, despite heavy promotion. C-Murder released this album in September. The production is tight, he's got Snoop,Fat Joe, da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Noreaga and more. P and Silkk are on a few tracks too.
Unfortunately, the album did poorly on the charts. Trapped in Crime entered the charts at no.9 selling only 75,959 copies in its first week. I did some research and C-Murder first album Life or Death debuted at no.3 selling 197,338 in its first week. His second album Bosaalinie sold 175,611 in its first week.

I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.

Customer Reviews:
The best album and hardest to find.......2007-03-29
Probably their best album but also the hardest to find. Why they have not brought this out again on CD God only knows because this is a classic. Unlike other bands such as Crass Citizen Fish have managed to mix a strong political message with good music (something Dead Kennedys did so well, Fidelity Jones also) Not a weak song on this album, not a single album filler to be found.
Well worth a listen, ska-punk at its best.
best bet.......1999-02-27
this lp is great i used to listen to this every day from the time i was 15. positive social statements and good music made me search three years to find a new copy. a must have.

Poor material - good performance.......2001-03-30
Its quite often a bad sign when an artist resorts to naming an album after a former hit, or reprises the track by "bringing it up to date". So it is with this album. There's a shortage of material good enough to match the voice, which is in tremendous shape throughout."Trapped 1990" is a poor substitute for the original and LaSalles compositions seldom rise above mediocre. George Jackson weighs in with "Wet Match" which starts the album. The real stand out track is a reworking of Al Green's "Love and Happiness" which really cuts it. Forgettable!

no exaggeration.......2006-08-31
This is seriously one of the best albums to be released in the past year. And the other reviewer is not kidding; the live show is amazing. It beats a Flaming Lips show, and that's saying something.
Beautiful...simply beautiful.......2006-08-29
I purchased this CD a couple of weeks ago and just can't stop listening to it. Each track is simply magnficent. The "lyric book" is actually a graphic novel done by the band's own Zachary Johnson, which helps explain the album is much better detail. Essentially what you're listening to is a story (and a tragic one at that), about love, work, and living.
The album raises one of the most important questions of all: What is more important: taking a chance and love and life or finding security in the mundane life you're living now?
Truly inspiring.
