What a great line-up of singers on this disc! Although Campions' songs are written as solo songs he stated at the time that they may also be enjoyed as part songs. On this CD they are tastefully mixed both vocally and instrumentally. There are trios with soprano, tenor, baritone and lute where the lute is treated almost like another voice part. Each of the singers has a solo or two and Chance has several. It is also good to keep in mind that Thomas Campion (l567-l620) was a poet as well as a musician who had the capability of putting together the two art forms, words and music. As he says, "lovingly coupled together." From over 100 songs it was difficult to select only 25, but Campion helped us by placing his prize songs often at the beginning of a volume. And it is certainly appropriate to present these chosen songs with varied vocal combinations. My favorites are the last three on the album: "The Sypres curten of the night is spread" (Michael Chance); "Author of Light" (quartet:(Elliott-soprano;Chance-countertenor;Padmore-tenor;Harvey -baritone) and "Never weather-beaten Saile" (Chance).

Only for die, die, diehards!.......2006-12-06
Oh, boy this sounds beyond atrocious!! Taped from a bootleg VHS concert's audio. Stick with Hellion's - Live And Well In Hell concert ... that is still pretty rough but at least listenable.
Reviewer iwarrior was correct on the track listings (they were way off on the actual CD cover & Amazon's listing):
1.Run For Your Life
2.Nothin' To Say
3.Get Ready
4.Backstabber
5.Nevermore
6.Don't Take No For An Answer
7.Drivin' Hard For You
Another Chapter In The Life Of Metal's Bamboo Viper Queen.......2002-08-01
Ok,here's the verdict:
First of all the track listing is wrong on the back inlay card(I love these little mistakes. It adds to NRR's charm).
Here's the correct track order:
1.Run For Your Life
2.Nothin' To Say
3.Get Ready
4.Backstabber
5.Nevermore
6.Don't take No for An Answer
7.Drivin' Hard For You
There is no 8th track.
Well I must say that this sounds pretty damn good in spite of the disclaimer. One thing I've noticed about Hellion tunes is that some of them seem to sound better to me when recorded live, something I've also noticed on Live And Well In Hell. Songs like "Run For Your Life" and "Backstabber" seem to thrive and sound more jakked and dangerous in the 'ot 'n' sweaty concert environment, while "Nevermore" becomes more gothic, almost dreamy and kind of reveals a different side to a song that is one of my faves from the Hellion catalog.
The two new ones(tracks 2 and 3) are kinda interesting. The first is a somewhat playful 'n' bouncy pop metal ditty, while the other is a stomping, kicking, blood 'n' thunder anthem that belies it's simple crowd-pleasing,can't-go-wrong title. Each one is a curiosity. Both songs also each had a bit of commercial appeal. It would be interesting to speculate on what both might sound like in the studio.
Anyway, pick up this one while you can. It's a neat little jaunt back in time to an exciting era and locale in heavy metal's storied history. It almost makes me wish I was there with these guys. Instead,I was 10 years old,in 4th grade, and just discovering the majesty of the power chord for the first time.
