I have to echo millions of others with "Why is Back In Black in here?" Why not just more Bon? How about a DVD release of "If You Want Blood"? We've only been asking for it for 20 years!

AC/DC Bonfire.......2007-03-28

The music is great but one of the cd's is a little scratched up, and one of the cases looks pretty worn. It was labled as "like new". I would not consider this "like new". I was a little disappointed

B minus Bon Box Set.......2007-01-25

I was originally excited when I heard this Box set was coming out but put off the purchase for a while when I heard unflattering reviews. I found it for a nice price thru an Amazon seller so I went ahead and finally picked it up. I would have to say that I am a little disappointed at the overall package and the lukewarm review I read years ago was spot on the money.

The Paris concert is good but really needed a reengineering job and a probably a remix to give it sound quality more like If You Want Blood...or a well produced live concert album. There are times when it sounds more like an unmixed bootleg than something that has an Atlantic Records sticker on it. It would have been nice to have a collection of live tracks that were just from Highway to Hell or that didn't appear on other previously released live albums.

Live From The Atlantic studios is a little anti-climatic as there is not much of an audience or the great sounds from a big live crowd which, to me, makes a live album... well, a live album.

I also really didn't get the point of Back in Black included as the 5th disc?? If it were a unique copy of BIB with Bon singing some of the songs or something other than the stock studio copy, it would have made more sense to include. I would bet everyone who buys this set already has a copy of BIB and does not need another. It is a waste of a disc or a potential slot in the set for something that could have been a more unique or unreleased offering. I guess from the perspective of the band Back in Black had a tribute element to it but Bon is not even on it and I thought that was the point of the set?

The book included is nice and has some great shots of the original line-up and brought up memories of old copies of Creem and Circus rock magazines.

If you must have it, find it for a good price.

It's All Good!.......2007-01-10

This box set easily covers the best of the Bon Scott era with AC/DC.There is not a bad song in the set.But many ask why they included the Back In Black cd in this set,since it was originally released after Bon's passing.
That's simple,Back In Black is the band's tribute to Bon Scott,and it's only fitting that it was included in this set.I highly recommend this box set to others because it is much better than the other box sets put out by other bands.

Solid box set, Live albums, Rare cuts, and the classic back in black........2006-11-08

I Have enjoyed this box set thouroughly over the year now. If you are looking for a collection of greatest hits, this is not that kind of a box set. It is a true AC/DC fan set with 3 great live CD's, live from atlantic studios and Let their be rock 1 & 2, Volts - a rare/demo tracks disc, and the Brian Johnson era classic Back in black. the Live years are from the Bon Scott days, but you can get the 1992 release AC/DC live for the Brian johnson live stuff. Just a fun collection, good book included, and a guitar pick as well. Check it out AC/DC fans.

A Real soundtrack that Rocks! Shocker is a 1989 classic!.......2005-03-01

This is one soundtrack that packs a punch.Unlike today's music, this soundtrack really rocks! Proving once again that the 80's had the best music.This is a great metal/hair/rock album.
1.Shocker(10/10)The title track kicks major ass.Paul Stanly(of kiss)on vocals, Vivian Campbell(of Dio and Whitesnake)on guitar, Rudy Sarzo(of M.A.R.S. and Whitesnake)on Bass, and Tommy Lee(Motley Crue)on drums.This song will blow you away.
2.Love Transfusion(10/10)Another great metal song.Iggy Pop on vocals, Guy Mann Dude and John McCurry on guitars among many others involved.
3.No More Mr Nice Guy(1/10)Megadeath sucks on this one.Megadeath ruined this song.Horrible job.Their a good band on their own, but they're suckin all over the place on this one.Shame on you Megadeath!
4.Sword and Stone(9/10)great song performed by Bonfire.Excellent job.This one was written by Bruce Kulick(of Kiss).
5.Timeless Love(9/10)A great love ballad.If you want a ballad dine right 80's style this is a good one!Performed by Saraya.They do a fine job.Their first self titled release is worth buying.This song is just a sample of what the can do.
6.Shockdance(4/10)Pretty bad song, but it is so bad it's actually funny to listen to because of the rap(Pinker he's a stinker)Ha Ha Ha!Alice Cooper does the vocal work!
7.Demon Bell(10/10)This is the best song Dangerous Toys ever performed.A killer tune.Love the Guitar riffs!
8.The Awakening(6/10)Not a bad song.Pretty decent metal tune performed by Voodoo X.
9.Different Breed(3/10)Pretty horrible song by this loser band called Dead On.More like Dead End which is what they came to!
10.Shocker(reprise)7/10)Continuation of te chorus line at the end of the first song.

Super soundtrack!.......2004-10-19

One of the greatest 80's metal soundtracks ever! The main theme "shocker" is absolutely rockin'!!! Also the old song "no more mr. nice guy" sang by Megadeth is much better than the original version... Too bad they haven't brought this album out again... It's a must for every metal fan!

For a soundtrack not bad.......2003-12-13

I got this when it first came out. The highlight for me on this
is the song, The Awakening by a band called Voodoo X. Very, Very Cool Tune. Another stand out is Sword and Stone by Bonfire, Demon Bell by Dangerous Toys. The title track has some various artist on it. Definately a good cd if you like the 80's metal scene, as i do. But definately check out The Awakening by Voodoo X.

Excellent 2-on-1 Reissue.......2007-05-10

If you look at European AOR and melodic rock today, the different styles are quite noticeable, with British, Swiss, Swedish, and German being the major sounds. The German melodic rock sound pretty much comes back to Bonfire (and later Fair Warning). Bonfire's brand of melodic rock merged the radio-friendly approach of Bon Jovi with the hard yet melodic style of their countrymen the Scorpions.

This affordable 2-on-1 reissue features Bonfire's first two albums in their entirety. Here's what you get:

Don't Touch the Light - With just 8 songs (9 if you count the instrumental introductory track) at 37 minutes, this 1986 release is a relatively brief introduction to the band. Still, you get a pretty good idea of what Bonfire's sound is all about, with plenty of hard rocking tracks like "Starin' Eyes", "Longing for You" and the title track, as well as the occasional ballad ("You Make Me Feel").

Fireworks - 20 years later, this 1987 release remains the best example of Bonfire's sound. The album features a great assortment of hard rockers (Ready 4 Reaction, Never Mind) and catchy party anthems (American Nights and the cover of Surgin's Sleeping All Alone), and as ballads go, Give It a Try isn't half bad. Great guitar work, great vocals, great melodies...great album!

Both Don't Touch the Light and Fireworks are important albums in AOR/melodic rock, and are albums that most 80's rock fans should check out. They don't make `em like this anymore!

If you're new to Bonfire and are looking for a place to start, look no further! If you're already a Bonfire fan and have had trouble tracking down one (or both) of these albums, this reissue is probably your best bet.

Can't go Wrong With German Melodic Metal.......2005-07-22

Recommended for fans of the Scorpions, in particular, and 80s style melodic metal in general. This disc is a fair value too, since it actually contains 2 albums (Don't Touch the Light 1986 and Fireworks 1988). The second release, and second half of this disc, is the better of the two. The first album, Don't Touch the Light, while not containing any bad tracks, is not quite strong enough to stand on its own, having only two standout tracks and being on the brief side -- only 7 tracks total.

Highlights of the disc in order of appearance are: No more, SDI, Champion, You Make Me Feel, Fantasy and Give it a Try.

Fans of the band should be pleased with this release. The two albums display a nice variety of rockers and ballads. Claus Lessman has an attractive voice and good sense of style. He often sounds quite similar to Klaus Meine, especially on the ballads.

Also of note -- the overall sound is crisp, unlike that heard on so many other 80s metal discs, where it seems as if the band are playing from the depths of a giant tin can.

Bonfire is awesome!.......2002-10-02

I got Fireworks on Vinyl while stationed in Germany in the Army back in '87. I just picked up the CD yesterday and it sounds as good as ever. Nevermind is my personal favorites on this disc and I've listened to it so many times! These guys have a nice edge but remain melodic - a fine balance. There are many other excellent songs on here including Ready 4 Reaction. This disc is one of my all time favorites & these guys are one of the best European metal bands to never quite make it in the US.

Fireworks is undoubtedly one of the landmarks in the annals of 80s metal and power metal. Imagine Scorpions-style vocals with huge melodic choruses, keyboards, and heavy Teutonic guitar. Very inspirational, fist-pumping 80s metal at its best.
