5 out of 5 stars This is NOT aimless noodling, this is GOOD!.......2004-11-08

I'm a huge fan of technical music. I love Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Shawn Lane, Steve Morse, etc. The problem with some of the shredders out there is the music is boring. Not so with this album. Richie sheds his previous neoclassical stylings for a bluesy funk fusion. His tone on here is superb, and the melodies are great. If you like high calibre guitar playing with good TASTE, buy this. If you like Vinnie Moore/Joe Stump, stay away.

5 out of 5 stars A stand-by.......2004-08-14

I wore out the tape I bought in...92? Round about then...so I wore out my casette. I usually get tired of self-indulgent "shredders" (Racer X as really bitchin' for about three days, then...onanism) but RK has real depth and a true sense of timing and melody that make his work stand out from Shrapnel's usual "showcase" artists.

5 out of 5 stars Best from Richie.......2003-11-12

This one is by far the best Richie Kotzen instrumental album to date. The opener Shufina and the following song Electric Toy are enough to put this album in the wish list of every guitar lover. The entire album by the way is extremely consistent from its beginning to its end. The music is a sort of blues fusion type of thing. There are true songs, Richie doesn't show off here for the sake of. He plays his trademark legato licks with heart and mind and the music in the end is truly gratifying. There is only one song that I don't like which it happens to be the one before the last one. Too confused. But apart from this one, a perfect brilliant album.

5 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!!!!.......2003-05-19

INCREDIBLE, THE BEST KOTZEN ALBUM , BY FAR. THE TEMPOS, THE SOUND ARREINGMENT, EVERYTHING!!! I SPECIALLY LOVE THE "ELECTRIC JOY", THE SONG, GREAT IN EVERY SENSE. REALLY, A MUST FOR THE ONES WHO WANT TO COMPOSE GUITAR THINGIES!!!! THIS IS A TRUE MASTER OF COMPOSSITION!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Suprised but not dissapointed!.......2000-08-30

This all instrumental cd is nothing like his shredding debut. However, that is good. He is treading on newer sounds. This cd is produced, mixed, and engineered by Mr. Kotzen himself! The quality is crisp and clear. He also plays the guitar and bass himself, leaving the drum duties up to the veteran Atma Anur(also played on jason becker cd). Ok, this is rock/fusion and blues all blended into a simple stream of awesome guitar chops. This guy is having fun and playing well....for himself! There are some nice tones on this and the cd flows quite well. No, brutal guitar riffs or thunderous distortion on here. This is simply good playing with out any cover-ups or extra guitars thrown in to fatten it up. This is raw and honest.

5 out of 5 stars An Otherly Magnificent Opus!!!.......2007-03-27

After a year and a half of intense hard work, Ronnie Martin has emerged once again with yet another Joy Electric classic "The Otherly Opus", the fifth and final installement of his long-running "Legacy" concept album series. In this case, "The Otherly Opus" is a double-concept album with the first five tracks carrying one theme and the latter five tracks displaying another.
Like previous Joy Electric releases, "The Otherly Opus" showcases Ronnie's relentless talents for fusing catchy melodies with a wealth of experimentation. Unlike previous albums, Ronnie has put a larger emphasis on vocal arrangements here than on any other Joy Electric album. In addition to his trademark lead vocals, Ronnie also provides some very unique layered backing vocals on many of the tracks including "Colours In Dutch", "The Memory of Alpha", "The Ushering In of The Magical Era" and "Red Will Dye These Snows Of Silver".
Musically, the album is quite experimental but not in the most avant-garde extreme. The songs are still very tuneful and have a semi-industrial feel to them (especially in the latter half of the album). There's even one track, "Write Your Last Paragraph", that echoes the sound of Joy Electric's earlier material (ie: Melody, We Are The Music Makers, Old Wives Tales).
Overall, "The Otherly Opus" is another fine collection from Joy Electric and is continued proof that Ronnie keeps getting better with each album he releases. With the "Legacy" series now officially finished, I cannot help but be curious as to which musical direction Ronnie Martin is going to take next. One thing is definitely for sure, it will be awesome regardless.

5 out of 5 stars Yet Another Quantum Leap Forward.......2007-03-21

Like "Ministry of Archers", I'd have to say the commercial prospects for this album are pretty weak. I regret that only because I suspect this artist could make a broadly accessible album at any time (Need proof? Check out "Wireless, From London" on his "Workmanship" EP), and I'd like to see him get his due. Regardless, this is yet another great (and too short) album, with a new twist: rich, layered vocal parts throughout most of the tracks. The lyrics are uniformly idiosyncratic and cryptic, and pretty much guarantee that the images you conjure while listening will reveal more about you than Ronnie Martin.

5 out of 5 stars who were these guys? Absolutely Wonderful Music........2006-08-07

I somehow acquired this album back in '90 or '91 on cassette. At the time, I'd never heard of the band, nor do I remember how it came about that I shelled out for it. Perhaps I was intrigued by the album title. At any rate I am so glad I did as it quickly became one of my favorite albums.

Somewhere along the way the tape got lost and it has been years since I've heard this. I recall listening to this a lot around the time my wife and I first met and fell in love.

The other reviewers here are right on the money about this album: it is haunting and faintly psychedelic in a sort of 1990s way. It is worth tracking down, and that is what I am doing right now.

Just listen to the song 'Lightning'. If you're a fan of New Order or the Cure or Jesus Mary Chain you will love these guys. Fantastic stuff.

You will love this CD.

5 out of 5 stars How this was overlooked by pop culture, seems strange........2006-05-25

This album was enlightening to me when I was first exposed in the early 90's. It has been a go-to for me ever since. Just yesterday I listened to it again and decided to see what the state of UVS was, if the album/cd was still out there and found the reviews here on Amazon.

If you are waffling on this cd, I encourage you to take the chance and discover some of the most incredible compilations. The production lends itself to a Sunday morning, sun streaming in as you enjoy breakfast and your favorite paper. You'll leave the house smiling, and catchy lyrics in your head, and wondering to yourself "how did this slip by the masses and miss being played?"

Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Novocaine daydreams.......2006-01-16

UVS is Kurt Ralske's relatively brief adventure into rock n roll. Ralske was educated at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, which is hardly your typical rock star spawning grounds.

Since doing 3 or 4 albums as UVS, Ralske has gone on to doing some electronic ambient stuff, working with films, producing other bands, and even has a permanent exhibit at MOMA in New York.

Maybe the best way to describe UVS is post 60s, pre Beck psychedelia. Other than Robyn Hitchcock, nobody comes immediately to mind who was doing psychedelic pop like this in the late 80s and early 90s, at least not as succinctly as UVS.

If I remember correctly, Ralske plays just about all the instruments on this album, a remarkable feat in itself. The subject matter with this and later UVS records seems to revolve mostly around sex, guilty pleasure (the title to one of the songs), drugs (the self titled album even has a syringe on the cover), and death. You might think this sounds depressing, but this album actually doesn't come across negative, but instead has a numbing psychedelic aftertaste if that makes any sense.

The overall effect is a detached novocaine feel. I gather it's out of print now, but a great CD if you can get ahold of it.

5 out of 5 stars Very good band.......2003-08-09

Very high-quality music. Kindest cut is absolutely my most favorite song.

4 out of 5 stars A special find.......2003-02-09

I don't know how wonderful albums like this go out of print, but it's well worth looking for used. Not quite as good as the UVS self titled, but better than "Rev", this is a great record with that early alternative sound to it. A few upbeat tracks including "Special one" with Kim Deal from the Pixies, but most of it is mellow. Similiar to early Cure or New Order, but most like Velvet Underground to my ears. UVS is one of those secret bands that nobody knows, but everybody likes, and I have probably played every month since 1990.

4 out of 5 stars More like the new than the old.......2006-08-06

I believe this album was an answer to critics' condemning "Melody" as overly poppy, sugar coated and unemotional. If that's true, I guess nobody bothered to read the lyrics on "Melody". Even though the melodies are ultra-sweet, the lyrics are, for the most part, emotional and very melancholy. Martin wanted to make sure there was no criticizing Music Makers for being bubbly and poppy. This album is way more down-tempo, containing many more minor chord changes, and doesn't really sound as strong as some of his other early material. Ronnie Martin is very good at writing fairytale sugary synth pop, and he should continue to do so despite what critics say. After all, you're never going to please everyone, so might as well do what you're good at. Burgundy Years is an excellent song, As is Hansel, the Harvestry of Ghosts and May All Saints, but the rest of the album is pretty much average. Although I love all of Joy Electric's music, my favorite is definately pre-White Songbook, with the exception of this album. If you're a fan of newer J.E. like the Ministry of Archers and Hello, Mannequin, you will probably enjoy this album also. If you own the Art and Craft double disc, you already have the songs on this album that are worth listening to, and unless you need this to complete your collection, it's really not the best J.E. album to have. If you're new to J.E., try Melody, Robot Rock, CHRISTIANsongs or even the Old Wives Tales E.P. before you get this one.

4 out of 5 stars Why do I love it?!?!? I don't know!.......2005-05-03

Bubblegum bleeping synthesizer turned haunting and depressed... How does that even work??? This album has remained among my favorites for 8 years with such company as Radiohead, Guster, Death Cab for Cutie, VAST, Royksopp, Coldplay etc. After listening to a Radiohead album it seems laughable to then switch to a Joy Electric album. Yet I find can love them both simultaneously because Joy Electric (this album particularly) contains the same catching depressed emotion, the same wandering musings painting strange yet somehow familiar pictures than only an inner aching can decipher. I find beauty and genius in both of them. JE's album Melody is a close second and all of his other albums I find to be catchy but empty collections of beeping. Ronnie Martin's (Joy Electric) remixes of his brother's band Starflyer 59 are also enjoyable.

4 out of 5 stars Spooky JE.......2003-07-17

Not as good as Robot Rock, but it's still a lot of fun. If you buy this album, you're going to like it. It's as simple as that. Very spooky, ghosty sounding Joy Electric. The lyrics are in some sort of weird fairy-tale style.

4 out of 5 stars It's diffrent then the other cd's but it's still cool.......2001-08-12

I was a Joy Electric fan before I got this cd. I looked up this cd online and I found out my friend, whom I borrowed her Christian Songs cd from, had this cd and so I borrowed it and I thought it was cool. Ronnie Martin, who is the vocalist, is very creative in making the music. All he uses is a synthesizer and no other traditional insterments. This group is also a christian group so they don't sing anything bad. The music is really great but I enjoy the other cd's better. I do like # 1,2,3,4,6,8 and 10. You might enjoy this cd like I did.

5 out of 5 stars Great album.......1999-03-19

This album conjures electric ghosts, creaking castles, bouncy rhythms. This album is awesome.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sleepy versions of classic joy electric.......2006-08-09

I am a Christian, and it's about time there was a Christian band worth listening to. I've been hooked on Joy Electric for about 8 or 9 years now, and own everything Martin has put out. This is a great album, although be warned, it is not the typical synth drenched Joy Elec. brand of pop you're used to (hence the "unelectric"). This is just Ronnie Martin, the piano, string arrangements, and a drum machine. Most notably changed is Sugar Rush, which is now a full blown ballad (surprisingly this works extremely well!). The Girl From Rosewood Lane is reworked for the unelectric album, and is one of the standout tracks on here, it's always been a favorite of mine. Along with the 8 classics we know and love, there are two new songs on here. The first, entitled These Should Be The Good Times is alone worth buying the album for (It's also included on the Art and Craft double disc). The other song, Losing Touch With Everyone is a bittersweet short little ballad, which is also good, but not worth getting too excited about. This is a great album for relaxing to, all the songs are very mellow and quiet, and I would recommend this to any fan of Joy Electric.

5 out of 5 stars dont let the concept of "christian rock" scare you.......2003-09-09

i dont know if it would bother Ronald Martin to know an
atheist loves his music intensely. every Joy Electric
album is a sugary, blissful, synthy wonderland. no matter
what your religious leanings, if you love synth-pop, youll
love Joy Electric. dont be afraid of the "god rock" label.
good music is good music.

5 out of 5 stars Joy Electric.......2003-03-07

Not to offend anyone, but I just wanted to say that even though I am not X-tian, I L-O-V-E Joy Electric. It is one of if not my favorite sources of music in existence. If you are normally turned off by religiously influenced music, you will be missing out on something truly special by passing up on J.E.

5 out of 5 stars wow!.......2002-05-16

And I thought J.E.'s stuff was cool before this. This albumn improves the quality 150%. surprisingly an improvement over previous albumns. It takes away electronic influences, and sticks with traditional qualities. Actually an improvement, which surprises me due to the fact J.E. is an synth-pop band. it don't make sense, due to the fact it takes away the original approach, only to change it and... it's better! All of ronnie's stuff is cool, but this is an exception. get it, and all of his other stuff also! It lifts up the name of JESUS CHRIST also, rock on! Steve Rau

4 out of 5 stars Main Street Electric Parade.......2002-01-24

This is an awesome band, but you have to be into very poppy, very synthetic music. Will put you in a great mood, so happy. Reminds me a lot of Disney's Electric parade music. Great christian music. Check it out.

Sam McClain is a blues singer aka rthym n' blues. Sam started his career towards the end of the soul era but has continued performing and is one of those excellent blues vocalists playing small clubs (in Sam's case, mostly around Boston). "Joy & Pain" was recorded live in Germany in 1997. McClain has surrounded himself with a great band and the songs are all first rate. If you like the late Otis Redding or Bobby Blue Bland then you will truly enjoy Mighty Sam McClain and his great band.

"I get a sugar rush thinking of you too much," intones head Electric Ronnie Martin in the beginning of Joy Electric's pop opus Robot Rock, setting the tone for the album's perfectly molded, confectionery synthpop. Martin aptly describes Joy E's sound in "Monosynth" as he sings, "Notes go beep in perfect time and beat / The metronome, he's our friend / Oscillators join in unison for the grand conclusion," capturing the essence of the band's purely synthetic soundscape, which draws equally from new-wave retrochic, classic pop structures, and punk attitude. The songs are short and simple, eschewing long intros and breaks for solid hooks and clean melodies. Though some of the musical themes and instrumentation get a little repetitive, Robot Rock's plentiful riffs and short, sugar-sweet songs invite many repeated listenings. --Brad Caviness

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Some shining moments.......2006-12-17

I really like Joy Electric, but as an overall release this is not thier best. My biggest problem with it is that many of the vocals are out of tune on the sharp side. Ronnie Martin's vocals have gotten quite a bit better in newer releases. There are two outstanding cuts here, "Monosynth" which may be there best song & "Forever is a place".

5 out of 5 stars The Apex of Electronic Innocence.......2002-08-27

With "Robot Rock", Ronnie Martin shows the rest of the world what it means to be an off-kilter musical genius searching for the beautiful things in life. Sugar Rush, Storybook Love, Forever Is A Place, The Berry Patch and Strawberry Heart are all joyful tunes bursting with childlike exuberance. Monosynth is a supremely melancholy cry to the world: "I could be so happy / If the world would not ignore me / In my place there will be stories / Of a boy who died in sorrow with his monosynth". After one listen to this song, even the star varsity defensive tackle will be crying girly-man tears of misanthropy. The Robot Beat and Taking Over are all odd, quirky paranoid little numbers (as if most of JE's songs weren't odd and quirky enough). The strongest cuts on this album would have to be Sugar Rush, Monosynth, Strawberry Heart and Berry Patch, though there isn't a weak link in all of this disc's ten tracks. Superb.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing For Someone Who Hasn't Heard JE Before!.......2002-08-13

At first, i thought that all of the songs on this album (save Monosynth) were carbon copies of one another. Yet, as I listened to it more... I found that Sugar Rush, Monosynth, Robot Beat, and Taking Over are all 5-star material. If you like pop or if you're looking for something unique and out of the ordinary, this is for you.

5 out of 5 stars An EP worth a million dollars.......2006-08-09

If you are a fan of Joy Electric and can get your hands on this EP, do it. ALthough there are only 8 songs on here, all of them are excellent. The best song though, is the new version of CandyCane Carriage (Lost in the Woods),which is re-done as a ballad. This is a song that can make me feel good, no matter how bad a mood I might be in. It's pure, blissful musical enjoyment. If you enjoyed Melody, the songs And It Feels Like The Old Times, Marigoldeness, Candycane Carriage, Old Wives Tales and the Cobbler will be right up your alley. This EP is hard to come by, but it is well worth the while, most of these songs were skipped over on the Art and Craft double disc, but are some of Ronnie Martin's best offerings.

3 out of 5 stars petty neat.......2005-10-26

cutesy bubblegum pop music heavy on the synthesizers. the vocals are high pitched and give the music a very innocent and wide-eyed with wonder feel. there are a few really good hooks on here and Joy Electric seem to have carved themselves a cool identity with their fantasy lyrics that seem to take great inspiration from old tyme children's stories.

4 out of 5 stars Not a bad album.......2000-01-13

This was the first Joy Electric CD I purchased, which was in a used CD store in the cheap bin. Anyway, this CD is a good effort. The Erasure/Yaz influence is there, but JE retains their own voice in the world of analog synth. The only weak track is "I Beam, You Beam" which really destroys the album (I am sorry to say) and maked me think of Gary Numan's "I Die: You Die"...especially the end of the song. Nonetheless it is is worth checking out.

5 out of 5 stars This CD was spectacular........1999-02-12

Hello, My name is Daniel. I have heard this CD and I must say, the remix of my favorite song (Burgunday Years), was awesome. I have always been impressed with Joy electric's talent for synth pop music. You never hear much of it anywhere. That makes Joy Electric a truly unique Artist. I hope they keep up the good work. Thank you for reading.

Joy Electric make savvy, sweet, supremely catchy synth-pop ditties that glorify Christ. The joyous songs on Christiansongs are sung and composed by Ronnie Martin in a breathy, high-pitched voice and are performed exclusively on old-school analog synthesizers, vocoders, and the like--no fancy, new-fangled samplers or drum machines here. Think Gary Numan, New Order, or Soft Cell, without that heavy air of late-night decadence. It's an exceptionally effective formula and the retro elements are handled with unironic, straightforward simplicity. All of Martin's songs give praise and the majority are based on passages from scripture (which are printed below the lyrics). The beautiful, fast-paced "Lift up Your Hearts," for instance, is based on Timothy 6:12 and concludes with the lyrics, "Are they ashamed to bear the name / When all the while they fool themselves / With fake acclaim they never get." --Mike McGonigal

5 out of 5 stars An Amazing Album!.......2005-01-15

This is by far the best electric cd I have ever heard! This cd is the one that made me a joy electric fan instantly. I have listened to all of je's other cd's and this is their best work. There is just something about the sound of the monosynths that make you want 2 dance! It's nothing like anything I have ever heard before. I am going to state right now that I am not a fan of electronic music. I am a guitar player who plays rock & roll- and that is what I generally like to listen to. I have always hated synthesizers and the sound they make. But the monosynths that are used on this disk are totally different! The sounds joy electric makes sound like someone making music with a old school arcade game. Some times I just laugh out loud it sounds sooo amazing!! I am a follower of Christ so the lyrics really touch me with the simple truths that are proclaimed by Ronnie in his "choir boy" voice.

I'll just say this- sample this cd and see if you like it. I have found it to be ear candy that is such pure, funky, fun!

5 out of 5 stars aghh...............2004-10-01

well i have to say that a have not heard much of joy electric but i think hes a good artist and a good guy, but i think that some of the people that review some Christian Cds are kinda annoying becuz they never even say how good the band is they just say that its Christian and that they wished that they could like it....oh and the other people who say its pure evil and that he is a siner and stuff like that just..........
and dont forget the political people who say its too right wing just cuz hes christian..............and the adults who think its like as bad a eminem.......oh sorry im totally losing myself, anyway alls im trying to say is that im geting anoyed by all these anti-christian left wing political reviews on chistian CDs.

5 out of 5 stars Joy Electric's best album.......2004-07-24

This is defintly Joy Electric's best album, the lyrics in this alum is what I like a lot, very Christ centered. My favirate song is Children of the Lord, it's probally becuase I'm a Children's pastor, but this is a fun album to listen to. Ronnie Martin does pretty much everything by himself, his album are very diffent than any artist out there.

1 out of 5 stars For Cult Members Only.......2002-07-08

Christian-retro-electro, whatever you want to call it, this stuff is terrible! I listen to it because I'm subjected to it at work and don't have a choice, but you do. Stick with early Kraftwerk, OMD, YMO, Fad Gadget, John Foxx, Gary Newman--all great stuff. With Joy Electric you get choir boy vocals set against all the annoying sounds of a typical video arcade. For cult members only.

5 out of 5 stars Electrically Cool!.......2002-02-04

5 out of 5 stars Still sounding fresh with perhaps their BEST work to date!.......2002-10-22

I have many JE albums. "Christian Songs" and "Robot Rock" used to be my favorites. This album combines the best elements from both of those albums, yet still has a new sound. Worry not, the electronic pulses, beeps, and beats are there, but this time Ronnie Martin varies his vocal technique a bit, singing lower octaves, and even using vocal distortion! If you're new to the scene of JE, think "Anything Box" or "Erasure." Interesting to note that the album uses no sequencers or drum machines, just live analog devices at Ronnie's fingertips. What a great work! Personal faves: "And Without Help We Parish," "A New Pirate Traditional," and, of course, "We Are Rock!"

5 out of 5 stars JE.......2002-05-31

This band is AWESOME and the cd is really cool, I just bought the cd this week and have been listening to it nonstop since then. The lyrics on a couple of the songs are really wierd though, its kind of like a fairy tale book was thrown into a blender and pasted on the lyrics booklet, kind of like a word collage, Its a really COOL word collage. My favorite songs are New Pirate Traditional, We are Rock, and The good will not be cloned. They're about the only three that actually make sense. The cd is a work of modern art.

5 out of 5 stars The Legacy Begins..........2002-05-09

Joy Electric's growth as a group has gone through many evolutions and albums, but always sticks to the core pop synth sound. Legacy Vol. 1: The White Songbook is the first of an upcoming "Legacy" series of albums. The new album is an excellent one, with some of the same old sounds and some new ones. The opening track is a melancholy melody, with a narrator telling a story that seems to be a complex fairy tale, but when you look at the lyrics, it makes little sense and is slightly confusing. The tracks vary from the slower, darker tune "And Without Help We Perish" to the "punk without guitar" song "A New Pirate Traditional." I love his darker stuff, and this album has a little more of that than his previous ones. The only one that comes close with the slower, brooding tracks is Robot Rock. Those songs show he's not just a bubblegum pop guy.

The numerous tracks showcase Ronnie Martin's ability and talent for songwriting, music arrangement and composing the tracks. His songs go beyond simple pop melodies, easy to see after hearing the songs a couple times and reading the lyrics. There is a deeper meaning to them, although the exact meaning is rather debatable and lets the listener come up with their own conclusions. One of the best Joy Electric albums, it's a must have for any previous fan and anyone wanting to expand their collection to include an insightful, multi-faceted work.

5 out of 5 stars Ronnie kills the competition with his tetris soundtrack.......2002-04-24

This album is phenomenal. I have been following JE's discography with bemusement for the past several years, but i never really considered myself a fan. My sister has "Robot Rock" and "Christian Songs" and I found the music interesting, but not something I'd ever consider buying; the whole "electronica" thing just really isn't my cup of tea; i'm a fan of acts like ZAO, Simon & Garfunkel, and Marilyn Manson. But there was always something about JE's music that was better than other electronic stuff.

When my roommate got the "Unelectric" album, i found that JE is a whole lot more than just the novelty act I had always tagged them as. Hearing the songs on "real" instruments (albeit synthesized strings and drums...) I realized that the songs themselves were incredibly structured. With my newfound respect for JE's music, I went back and listened to my sister's JE albums and found them to be really good...the whole Nintendo feel of the synthesizers even grew on me.

When this album came out I downloaded two of the songs and was blown away. I figured if those were the only two songs that were any good on the album, then it would still be worth the purchase. There is not a single bum song on the album. Not only that, but every song on here is completely different and is wonderfully done. It's got haunting songs ("Shepherds of the Northern Pastures," "And Without Help We Perish"), it's got nostalgic songs ("Unicornicopia," "Sing Once for Me") and it's got balls-to-the-walls rockers ("We are Rock," "New Pirate Traditional"). An incredible album and the purely synthesized instrumentation only adds to the atmosphere. By far JE's best album and my favorite album of 2001.

4 out of 5 stars Masterfully done Concept Album.......2002-02-10

Ronnie Martin, one of the most dedicated, hardest working, and talented musicians I have ever come to know. His beats may seem simplistic but if you only knew how hard he works, staying up night after night to create every single bit of music you hear on all of his cd's. Using only his synthesizer, he made ALL the music from just one machine and no real instruments. His deep, emotional, and even depressing lyrics are hidden behind music that may seem simplistic or "For the kiddies" I admit to raising an eyebrow at some of his earlier work, some compare it to "video game music" and at times I won't disagree with it. I was looking forward to this release and was not dissapointed.

Ronnie has taken his music to a whole nother level. Its not only melodically addictive, but is so richly layered with melody upon melody upon sound effects. Gone is the "kiddish" sound for a whole mature world of electronic music. There are so many surprises in this record, from the instrumental "Chapter beginnings" to the uptempo tracks "We are Rock" and "The Good will not be cloned" The way Ronnie stretches his voice and his talent will astonish you. Who knew JE could rock this hard? His melodies are beautiful, his fairy tale like lyrics are soothing. He also hits on more personal feelings of the fear of rejection. This record tells the story of a man who looks back on his life and wonders what good he has done.

Ronnie wants these series of records to be HIS Legacy. I hope that when he looks back on his life, he will see that he left behind wonderful music that DID touch the lives of some. I encourage Ronnie to continue his work and to know that he IS appreciated. This record is truly a masterpiece and should not be missed.
