Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.

Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

Is music for a good cause a good cause for music? Not really, if you expect artistry. But this smorgasbord of popular international musical stars brings together extreme musical genres for an excellent purpose, and is enjoyable enough for almost anyone. Pavarotti's relaxed and buoyant leadership and still gorgeous tenor add beauty to the rock/pop selections. Trisha Yearwood, Celine Dion, and Stevie Wonder impressively hold their own against Opera Spice; but the other artists pale against the master's presence. The Spice Girls will never be confused with Anonymous 4; Zucchero's growling is scary; Florent Pagny exemplifies French rock; and Pino Daniele's breathy tenor is mellow and soothing. Best for those wanting to experience Pavarotti's vocal beauty in a more popular idiom. --Barbara Eisner Bayer

A Superb Collection of Music.......2002-11-14
As a musician, I first ran into this disk as a PBS broadcast. What caught my ear was that every song in the concert has "the groove." Other than a children's choral cut, not a single song in the entire collection has a flaw. You'd think the Spice Girls would be a silly addition to the concert, but they do a tremendous job. Each artist appears twice, usually with Pavaotti in one of their songs, sometimes twice. Vanessa Williams is Hot! and does an incredible dance number. The engineering is excellent, with solid side-to-side separation for a really "big" sound. All in all, this is one of the favorite CDs in my music library.
This is a delightful combination of music talents to enjoy!.......1999-04-01
We first saw Pavarotti and Friends on Public Television as a fundraising event. We found the CD and especially love to listen to this CD in our car which has a great sound system. Each vocalist is so special and you will be singing along with them after a couple of plays!
This will tenderize your heart........1999-03-07
Brilliant talent for needy children, that touches the soul, and sets it on fire. Your tears will soak your socks. James
Phenomenal !! A must have for any music library........1998-12-29
A most wonderful gathering of some of the world's greatest vocalists. Such a unique blend of international Modern & Classical. If one were to put to test the ability of a vocalist to adapt to a variety of melodies, this is it. Grab your lover and take a trip in their arms with this CD!!
Outstanding Music, bringing Pavarotti to new heights........1998-12-06
Easily the best in the Pavarotti & Friends series. Always an artist on the cutting edge, with this album, Pavarotti's work will have great appeal to his fans and to scores of new enthusiasts. His duets with the Spice Girls, Vanessa Williams, Zucchero, and Stevie Wonder make it obvious that his voice has adaptability and a passion that takes it into many musical genres with ease. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Sting once commented that great music occurs in the "synaptic gaps" where many different styles come together - this is an album that epitomizes the concept. Neopolitan music is a folk music in Italy, with overtones of American folk/country/jazz/rock, and Pavarotti is the Neopolitan master. This is a perfect fit of artists and selected titles. Earlier combinations of artists in this series were often much too somber, much less fun. Give this one to your teens or your great grandmother ... they'll find they have more musical tastes in common than they'd have ever imagined.

This is good.......2006-11-07
All Shall Perish's debut, "Hate, Malice, Revenge," was originally released in 2003 on a tiny Japanese label called Amputated Vein. Yes, it is rather convenient timing on Nuclear Blast's part to re-release the album in 2005, when modern heavy metal was peaking in popularity. But the fact of the matter is this isn't metalcore; this is deathcore, darn it! Anybody who compares this band to Trivium, Killswitch Engage, or even Lamb of God clearly hasn't heard this album, because it's far more brutal than those bands would ever dream of. In fact, it actuality falls more in line with the likes of Dying Fetus, Black Dahlia Murder, and Despised Icon. Like those bands, ASP augment punishing hardcore breakdowns with monstrous rhythms, downright bludgeoning guitars, rapid fire drumming, and monstrous vocals (death metal growls/bellows are punctuated well by high screams). The result is a truly massive, relentless, and devastating album. And somehow, the band manage to make it all memorable and even kind of catchy.
Most of the songs here follow a similar structure, with an accelerated beginning followed by a few moments of relief, before going back to the first really fast tempo. But there isn't any melody anywhere to be found here, not even in the restrained parts (which seem to be there only to help increase the tension). "Deconstruction" opens the album and plunges you right into a river of booming rhythms, scorching guitars, and incredibly fast, walloping blast beats. And it just never stops coming! Every track is as intense as the last and every track is as great as the next one: "Laid To Rest" almost bulges out of the listener's speakers with cool, deep bass guitar-aided breakdowns and more propulsive, quad-limbed drumming; and "The Spreading Disease" and "Never Ending War" are thunderous numbers highlighted by punching power chords, corrosively grinding leads and earth-shattering breakdowns. The two slowest songs are "Our Own Grave" and "For Far Too Long": the former is menacingly slower and is backed by crunching riffs, and the latter evokes the sound of cannon fire. Lastly, "Hearing The Brainwashed" is maybe the record's hookiest cut, due to its very potent, churning leads.
They may not be as famous or innovative as Dying Fetus (yet, at least), but if All Shall Perish had happened to release this album before that band made their debut, ASP would doubtlessly be this genre's trailblazers right now. "Hate. Malice. Revenge" is interesting, relevant, superbly technical, as heavy as all Hell, as crushing as a family as elephants, and completely satisfying. Brutal metal fans will definitely want to pick this one up: Your walls will be left shaking and your face will be left smiling even after the disc has stopped playing.
Unbelieavably Brutal.......2006-08-13
All Shall Perish are a brutal, brutal, BRUTAL band. Mixing Together Hardcore, Grindcore, And Death Metal, All shall perish constantly send a barrage of aural assaults that will crush you if you are not used to this type of music. Reminiscent of old Cannibal Corpse, Crematorium, and Hatebreed, this music is NOT for the weak or faint of heart. CHECK EM OUT!! I cant wait for their next album to come out.
This is Deadly Death Metal!!!.......2006-05-03
All Shall Perish combine elements of grind and thrash within a very powerful death metal sound, giving you the urge to just destroy things! Not quite good enough for a perfect rating I give this album a 9/10, but from the sample track I heard from their upcoming cd I have no doubt that that album will put them among my favorites. The vocals need a little more (although they are above par for this style of music and are diverse), but the band is amazing (especially the drumming). The music is technical without straying into a spazcore or techmetal sound, the breakdowns are very dark and just downright creepy, and every song will rattle your brain with blast beats, there are also some European metal influences noticeable in the guitar work. The vocals and musical style both range between The Black Dhalia Murder, The Red Death, and Despised Icon, no clean vocals whatsoever, but definately not a bad thing. Any fan of death metal should own this cd because this is everything you want in a death metal album. Not a single second is wasted on this album with 8 songs done in 36 mins every song is solid all the way through (which is saying alot considering every song but the first is over 4 mins) with no weak points and no breaks.
Finding a favorite song is very difficult considering there aren't any weak points enabling the listener to eliminate any songs and each song has it's own strong points. I listened to this album 6 times in a row before writing this interview for the sake of listing a favorite song, and was able to narrow it down to 2 favorites.
Favorite Songs: "Our Own Grave" & "The Spreading Disease"
Great album.......2006-04-14
Whenever I listen to this album, my mind is blown away completely. All Shall Perish are one of the best new death metal bands out there today, and there's no doubt we will be hearing more from these guys in the near future. Their debut album "Hate, Malice, Revenge" is one of the most brutal albums of 2005 that I've had the pleasure to listen to. This album has everything. The vocals are absolutely brutal, ranging from a deep growl to a frightening scream that will grab you right by the throat and tear it in half. The crazy technical guitar riffs will have your hair spinning and your head banging in sheer delight, the fast violent blastbeats and vicious double bass kicks will just make your ears bleed bright red. There's also some good bass lines on here as well. Every song on here kicks ass, but my favorite song is "Deconstruction". A video clip for that song is also included on here which is pretty cool.
themetalbeast's song ratings:
1. Deconstruction - 5/5
2. Laid To Rest - 5/5
3. Our Own Grave - 5/5
4. The Spreading Disease - 5/5
5. Sever The Memory - 5/5
6. For Far Too Long - 5/5
7. Never Ending War - 5/5
8. Herding The Brainwashed - 5/5
So anyways. if you're into bands such as Dying Fetus, Suffocation, The Red Chord, Despised Icon, Premonitions Of War, Lamb Of God, Black Dahlia Murder, The Red Death, Heaven Shall Burn, or just a fan of heavy music in general, you'll really like All Shall Perish. Buy this album NOW!!
BTW: Be sure to look out for their new album which will be out later this year, I just know it's gonna kick ass. Well later!
Drums to fast? cant understand it?.......2006-02-18
I dont even have the lyrics to the cd, and I still can understand what they say. The drums arent very fast at all, listen to Krisiun. Its a great cd, nothing to out of the ordinary, but still a good cd.

Satisfying, if not entirely memorable.......2007-01-12
After donating seven long years of his life to Morbid Angel and Ripping Corpse, guitarist Erik Rutan decided to leave those groups to focus, full-time, on his side project, Hate Eternal. The group's second album, "King Of All Kings," was released in 2002, and pretty much just picks up where Rutan left off with his previous two bands.
There are only two speeds represented on "King of All Kings": very fast and lightning fast -- it's all about speed, speed, and more speed. Well okay, and crushing heaviness, too. Plus, every second of every rhythm of every song here heaps on gobs of ferocious energy, blinding tempos, scalding guitar leads, grumbling riffs, driving rhythms, ridiculously fast, carnage-inducing blast beat bonanzas (seriously, is drummer even Derek Roddy human?), and deep, "who dares disturb my slumber?"-esque bellows from Erik.
If you're an experienced metalhead and you listen extremely closely to these songs, you might remember one or two of them come album's end. For example, the opening title track is a great representation of "King Of All Kings," as a whole. Between the storming, jackhammer persistence of the smashing drums and the wall-of-sound guitar noise, there is absolutely no room for subtly, here. The music only breathes when a nice, melodic, ascending guitar solo crops up a ways into the song. The rhythmically pounding, thunderous, headbanging power chords which open up the seventh track, "Chants In Declaration," and the walloping, circular, almost buzzsaw blast beats during "Powers That Be" might also engrave themselves to your mind. But 99% of this album is just one long, ultra loud and speedy blur.
There are some advantages and disadvantages to making an album like this. "KOAK" definitely loses some points because every one of these songs, of course, blend together. Thus, in addition to having no real standout tracks, there are no classic songs anywhere to be found here, and there are only a couple of parts which are even remotely catchy.
But there are a few good aspects to making an album which is one long, incessant adrenaline rush. Firstly, it should at least be refreshing to any metalhead to hear no At The Gates influences on this C.D.. Next, this album couldn't be more tight, dark, brutal, blistering, hard-hitting, muscular, or punishing. Thirdly, "King Of All Kings" is completely stripped of fat, so it is very lean and mean, and every moment of this album oozes with rage and violence.
So, this is a hit or miss album (how much you like this album all depends on what your tastes in death metal are.) All things considered, it could definitely benefit from more standout songs, but what this album lacks in memorable songwriting it makes up for in sheer sonic exhilaration, vicious, crushing energy, throat-slashing intensity, and astounding musicianship. And besides, it may be entirely one mood, but there never was much room for texture or several different dimensions in death metal. So, if you're a death metal fan, and you don't mind a lack of standout tracks, go ahead: buy this C.D. and let it rip you apart. You'll be glad you did.
Going to see hate eternal this june !.......2005-04-20
Along with krisium and one of my favorite doom deathmetal act... Im going to have the plesure of catching hate eternal shredding and brutalizing every one on stage in worcester and it will be a blast ! Anyways, hate Eternal's "king of all kings" is without a doubt e brutal and yet very talent piece of music along with one disturbing sound... Buy it !
Brutal Death Metal.......2005-03-02
This band is like morbid angel meets suffocation. However, its darker than morbid angel and more brutal than suffocation, IMO. I cant wait to hear how they top this album.
Second isn't always best..........2004-09-02
This album is a bit on the boarder for me. It has a lot of redeeming qualities about it, but it also has some things about it, which don't exactly thrill me. As expected from most death metal bands, all of the songs are fast and chaotic (with the exception of the intro track). The whole album has a Morbid Angel feel and sound to it (not surprising, considering Erik was in Morbid Angel). The vocals are your generic low death metal growls and you won't find Rutan varying his vocal tone very much.
Rutan more or less picks a one-dimensional grow tone (similar to George Fisher from Cannibal Corpse) and goes from there. Occasionally you'll hear him go into a high pitched scream, so you're cocked and loaded in the vocal part of it. If the production could be compared to any object, I'd compare it to mud - meaning that it's very messy, fuzzy, and muddled. For the life of me, I cannot get over that buzz and chugging guitar sound coming from Erik Rutan...it almost sounds like a happy swarm of bees. The music is speedy and crunchy like most death metal along with the vocals - lots of tremolo picking and over used blast beats. Not only that, but almost every song sounds relatively the same in structure.
The structure follows as: tremolo picking, tremolo melody, throw in a kick ass solo, the end. The mix is guitar and drum dominant and you rarely get to hear the bass working in the back. Erik Rutan writes some mesmerizing melodies and solos, but there just isn't enough variety between songs. Everything is so blatantly similar that it makes it a bit difficult to enjoy. Yeah, Derrick Roddy is an excellent drummer and he can pound like a madman.... and?
Normally I don't really find drums to be a problem, even if they seem precipitated, but the drumming here is too damn frantic and repetitious. There is little variety in the drum department, a lot of it just seems like random pounding with some blast beats. I love fast and sultry drumming as much as the next guy, but I'd like it to be multifarious as well. Yes, this album is heavy, erratic, and pushy...but it's much too recursive to give it the luster that you can find in the above average death metal album.
This is a new attempt, but "Conquering The Throne" is a much better album. The guys of Hate Eternal are talented musicians, but this feels like a bit of a cop out. It has potential to be much better than this. I'd say it's worth downloading at the least, but if you like your death metal extremely recycled then you may enjoy this album.
God awful.......2004-04-28
Okay, to preface my review, I just want to say that I love metal, death and thrash. But only GOOD music. Just because you scream, and play 10000 blast beats a second, doesn't make the song good. Every track on here could replace each other. I've seen them live, and it made me want seriously consider changing my taste in music. People keep saying this is SO technical - whatever. Decapitated is technical. Cryptopsy is technical. This is just crap.

Customer Reviews:
Buy if your a big fan of BFVM.......2006-03-12
Its a pretty good cd but for a cd that costs over ten dollars for 2 songs.. Its kinda iffy. But if you have the money and you like them that much then i suggest you buy it. The song is a live version of All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me) and a song that was never released called Seven Days. I looked all over for this cd and all I could find was it sold in British Pounds. The band is from the UK so of course for the most part their merchandise will be seen there. No other site will have these two songs for free so those of you who download music dont even try because there are no site that have these. You could have it shipped from the UK and save about 3 dollars from converting it from USD to Britsh Pounds but then you have to deall with ordering from the UK and then filling out all this paperwork is a hassle. So if you really like them and want this cd I suggest you buy it here. I liked it but im pretty much obsessed with them after buying the Hand of Blood cd in the beginning of 2005. I hope my review helped you. Thanxz

Customer Reviews:
Great for home and classroom.......1999-03-21
No other composer so closely kept his fingers on the pulse of American thinking and gave the country so much of what it thought it wanted. "Yiddle on Your Fiddle" tells us more of the second-generation immigrants' desire to become Americanized than all the history and sociology books can ever do. So it is a double pleasure to announce the appearance of "Come on and Hear!: Early Songs by Irving Berlin, 1909-1915" and "Keep on Smiling: Songs by Irving Berlin, 1915-1918," two fantastic CDs or tapes on Oaktown label and released through a friendly little Connecticut company calling itself Original Cast Records. Between the two sets, you have 41 tracks of the Berlin output from "Everybody's Doing It Now" to "We're on Our Way to France." The soloist is Benjamin Sears, who with pianist Bradford Conner has something of a reputation around the Boston area. Now some of this material is duplicated by the more widely known Joan Morrison on two RCA Victor releases, possibly out of print by now; and like those discs could use another voice now and then. (Conner does join in where a duet is called for, but my point remains.) Sears is a capable if not an outstanding baritone, who does justice to these historic expressions of Americana. So not only do I recommend both of these sets for their enjoyment value, but I wish to continue to point out to Social Studies teachers how valuable sets like this would be to classes who have no concept of how people really felt (as opposed to what they merely said and did) "way back when." And I might even stick out my neck so far as to offer to come to any school (in reasonable distance of where I live) to give a sample lesson on how these sets can be used.

It'z Off The Scale.......2001-04-17
The CD is so tight it can't be rated, so all I could say is it's off the scale! MAC-AL put together some really hot tracks, and as a added plus there all original. With some of the best underground/independent rap artists in the game to boot. (Make sure to check out the songs featuring J.T. "The Bigga Figga", DECO-D, and SB of UNLV. There off the hook!)
