Customer Reviews:
The Story So far..........2007-07-05
One of those great, but almost unnoticed NWOBHM bands that couldn't break into the spotlight like Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head or Judas Priest. They were, however, one of the better bands in the late 70's and 80's if you liked good hard rock. Tygers of Pan Tang were a blend of heavy riffs, power pop, some blues, and straight forward almost no gimmicks rock. Whether the guitarist was Robb Weir or John Sykes [Whitesnake/Blue Murder/Thin Lizzy] the guitar licks were sensational, particularly with both guitarists after their debut album Wild Cat. These guys went head to head with Samson, Saxon and other bands in the revival that brought Heavy Metal to the forefront of the music industry in the 80's. Some great and quite different sounds on this disc include Love Potion #9, Rendezvouz, Hellbound, Silver & Gold, and Danger in Paradise. If you are already familiar with the Tygers then you may want to move on to The Cage, Spellbound, Crazy Nights and Wild Cat [listed in the order that I like them]. This disc spans the years with MCA and their single that got them that contract Don't Touch Me There. For the price this is an exceptional disc that will let you know if you need to search out the other masterpieces from this truely exceptional band

Awesome front man, fabulous band.......2000-10-18
We'd all love new music from them, but this record is a tasty sampling of the musical ability and passion of Walter and the Roadmasters from the past three Rounder albums. The band is so tight and the arrangements are smart and classy. One minute they'll make you jump to your feet (Can I Change My Mind?) and the next, Walter will literally make you cry (Don't Say Goodbye, Without You.) It doesn't get much better.

"Elmer Bernstein conducts film scores of Bernard Herrmann".......2004-10-28
Milan Records presents Elmer Bernstein conducting The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with this digitally remastered "Bernard Herrmann Film Scores ", from "CITIZEN KANE" [1942], "THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER" [1942], "THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH" [1956], "PSYCHO" [1959], "THE WRONG MAN" [1957], "VERTIGO" [1958], "NORTH BY NORTHWEST" [1959], "THE BRIDE WORE BLACK" [1967], "FAHRENHEIT 451" [1966], "TAXI DRIVER" [1973]...and the final track is "BERNARD HERRMANN ON FILM MUSIC" [recorded early 1970s]...which clearly states why music is an additional character to any film, without it the film would be incomplete...during the silent film era, the piano player kept the audience tuned into what was happening, whether it was a love scene or danger lurking around every corner.
Herrmann completely mesmerizes us with his themes, blending variations with eloquent and subtle cues...depicting each character in the film, and fine tuned to the story-line ~ he was a genius and knew his craft well...relies heavily on strings, usually with lyrical solos for the winds...absolute in capturing the essence of each scene, musically letting the audience in through his score ~ the result is colors come shining through with wonderful arrangements...many of the classic film scores have become cult favorites among "film-score-buffs" like me and collectors alike.
Each film score is superb and very strong...the balance of the instruments and experimental touches of Bernard Herrmann are all just brilliant ~ working with directors like Welles, Dieterle, Hitchcock, Truffaut and Scorsese all were very conscious of classic film music and and Herrmann's cues really came through...each outing was nothing less than a bravo performance...those who ignored Herrmann during his career, really missed out...cause all the diehard collectors of film music knew he was a WINNER! ~ Bernard Herrmann [1911-1975].

GOOD SOLID BLUES CD.......2004-08-09
The first 4 tracks are average at best and don't help you get into this mans musik, but from tack 5 this CD realy takes of. First class rocking good time blues from a band that seems to have as much fun as you do. Some killer tracks and some choice guitar playing. I'm sure to get some more of this mans musik.
If you like the blues and guitar playing, you won't be dissappointed.

Just Terrible.......2006-05-11
After the above average yet poppy "Soldier of Fortune" album with Mike Vescera, things were looking good for loudness.
Then they released "On the Prowl".
This album is a self cover album (UGH) with rearranged music and rearranged lyrics of loudness masterpeices! Just listen to how butchered "To be Demon" is(the butcerhed version is "find a way").
The first 3 tracks are new songs, but honestly they are not that good. I actully like how Masaki sings "down n dirty" live on "Once and for All" better than this studio rendition by Mike.
This is by far one of the worst Loudness albums and a dark time for the group. Only get this for collection purposes, like I did.
Sadly, I must give this 2 stars. I would give it 1 star, but I must say Wounded Bird remastered this album quite well. Why they remastered this album the best of their loudness catalogue is a major question to me though!
Loudness's last gasp in America.......2005-07-06
This was (thankfully) Loudness's last album with American metal singer Mike Vescera, and (unfortunately) the last gasp that this usually excellent band had with Atlantic Records in America.
All I have to say is, of course you'd lose a contract if you sacrifice your talent and originality for airplay.
Most of the songs on this CD sound like washed-out Fastway or Dokken on a bad day. The only songs that (just barely) save it are "In the Mirror" and "Deadly Player", which are reworked and translated versions of older songs.
The band is great, of course, but the attempt to Americanize them here has finally failed. The result, sadly, is a band that sounds like everybody else from the 80s.

Customer Reviews:
A worthy album.......2006-10-29
Loudness' On the Prowl was released in 1991. It has a running time of just over 51 minutes. It is comprised of 11 tracks. The material is in a straight-up hard rock musical direction. Satisfying songwriting, tight musicianship, and pleasant sound quality are in evidence. As for the vocals, Mike Vescera is a solid, versatile singer; for example, he sings with gritty aggressiveness on the energy-filled "Deadly Player." On the other hand, he sings smoothly on parts of "Find a Way." Akira Takasaki does not disappoint in the guitar playing department, either. He provides a nice, memorable guitar riff on the intro of "Love Toys." When it comes to my favorite cuts, they are "Never Again," "Take It or Leave It," and "Find a Way." "Never Again" is an attractive power ballad. The lively "Take It or Leave It" has an engaging chorus and a pleasing main guitar riff from Takasaki. The well-arranged, enjoyable "Find a Way" is an interesting composition in that it starts off as a power ballad, switches to a straight-ahead hard rocker, and then turns back into a power ballad--also, Takasaki furnishes gratifying rhythm guitar work, Vescera sings industriously, and the refrain is pretty. The CD foldout does not contain the song lyrics, but an individual color photo of each of the guys and a color photo of the band are included. In addition, I find the album cover artwork to be curious. On the Prowl is a recommendable piece of work.
A solid follow up to Soldier of Fortune.......2006-02-16
After the blast of wattage that was Soldier of Fortune I was laughing at my friend for remaining ignorant of this band. And this, their next album, cemented my opinion.
The good points: Very good guitar playing, party rock feel and a metallic edge as these boys were always in love with noise. I mean, their name gives that away. Anyhow, the first two tracks are worth the price of this disc alone, especially if you can pick it up fairly cheaply. Consistency is the name of the game here - foot to the floor stuff that only lets up for the occasional slow ballad style of song (hey, it may not have been the 80's anymore but Loudness thought it was!).
The bad bits: Michael Vesceras voice can grate a little. And the quality of composition is a touch lower. In fact it feels at times that that tunes on this album were the ones that weren't quite good enough for Soldier of Fortune.
Pity this union of western singer and virtuoso Japanese musicians couldn't of continued. Still, Yngwie gave Michael a lifeline....
