Why don't you - PULL THE PLUG!!!.......2007-06-08
Its obvious that calling any Death CD great is an understatement but I really love Leprosy. Its raw and brutal and the defintion of what a death metal CD should be. I love all the Death CDs but this one finds my CD player more than any other one not named Symbolic.
Pull the Plug has got to be one of the tightest death metal songs written and there are highlights galore on this baby. If you like Death and don't have this one you are retarded. Period.
Absolutely Brilliant.......2007-03-23
For this merely being Death's second album, it is amazing the extent of maturity they have gone through from Scream Bloody Gore. Of course, Death is still presenting us with a tasty plate of raw, crushing brilliance that was trademarked by their first album, but the songs are beginning to sound more structured. Chuck's vocals are much, much better (at least to me) than from Scream Bloody Gore and the overall sound quality seems to be at an equilibrium between polished and raw. It is still, by all standards, fairly typical old-school death metal, but it is above par in comparison to many of the bands of that day and age. Brutal, fast, and top to bottom quality DM.
Song Favorites: "Born Dead," "Left to Die," "Pull the Plug," and "Open Casket." (Open Casket is my all time fav)
Very Good.......2007-01-17
Back when I first bought this album, I would've given it a five star rating. However, now being familiar with Death's other releases, I have to say that Leprosy is far from my favorite. The album at times kind of gets repetitive. Overall, it's a worthy Death release, but if you are new to Death I suggest getting Symbolic or Human before checking Leprosy out.
1. Leprosy - 4.5/5
2. Born Dead - 4/5
3. Forgotten Past - 4/5
4. Left To Die - 4/5
5. Pull The Plug - 5/5
6. Open Casket - 4/5
7. Primitive Ways - 4/5
8. Choke On It - 5/5
Excellent folow up.......2006-11-10
The second installment of Chuck Schuldiner's group DEATH entitled LEPROSY is nothing short of amazing. The songs deal with several issues as pertinent then as they are today . "Born dead" explores abortion and "Pull the plug" explores the right of a person to terminate his or her own life. Incidentally these have been hotly debated issues during he mid term campaigns in the USA. Pro Life...Pro choice.Eusthanasia... Mr Schuldiner had an opinion about each and all of them. The musicianship is not as tight as the following releases but the solos are still mind blowing. Production is very good and all those seeking for clasic Death Metal will see their cravings very well satisfied. It is only too bad that Chuck Schuldiner is not with us anymore after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Excellent early-days metal band.......2006-10-30
Death is one of those bands who fell through the cracks to some degree and never really received the full respect and recognition they truly deserve. Chuck Schuldiner, in my opinion, is one of the better heavy metal writers and guitarists to come along and I've heard a lot in my life (hint: I'm over 40).
"Leprosy," being Death's second album, stands out as one of the classic death/speed metal albums of all-time. Granted, Death's music changed dramatically as their career grew and transformed into the great releases such as "Symbolic," and "The Sound of Perseverance." But for those albums to have ever existed "Leprosy" first had to come.
My favorite songs from "Leprosy" are:
1. Primitive Ways - Wow. What a driving, pounding, relentless example of pure heavy metal power. Rip-sawing guitars tear away following the initial drum roll to open the song. This is one of my top ten all-time heavy metal songs.
2. Left To Die - My first thoughts when hearing this song is their introduction on the live video, "Ultimate Revenge II." This is Death in one of my favorite periods when they were still raw but very much refined. A very good, driving, maniacal heavy metal song that stands out amongst others.
3. Pull The Plug - A guitar masterpiece that, like so many Death songs, pounds and pounds and pounds and then pounds some more.
All in all, Death is one of those gems who will eventually receive the credit they're due. As more people hear them and find out about them more people will realize just how great they really are.
R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner

Customer Reviews:
Lady...what?.......2001-01-09
Yeah, I know - if you are about my age, you might have a slight chance to have heard (about) this album, which is from 1974. Perhaps if I mention the name: Brian Eno - who is featured on the album - you nod in recognition, yet this album is something else than his ambient-sound music, 'coz in the center there is Lady June's voice - which is one of its kind. Not because she would sing beautifully or otherwise - this lady t a l k s!! But in a manner and surrounded with the sounds of the 70's which makes this album worthwile to own and always means a special time while I listen to it. During a long time I couldn't find it anywhere, until I searched for it here. I'm glad I did!

Product Description
Superior import edition from Japan, released in 1998 on the prestigious Victor label out of Tokyo, this import edition featured the bonus track "Painkiller" (a cover of the legendary Judas Priest track from their 1990 album), which, arguably... once you hear it, is worth the admission price alone. The vocal delivery on this track by the late Chuck S. is nothing short of astounding. His work with Death since 1986 pioneered the death metal scene, yet... the vocal style he utilized for this one song, once again redefined metal. A death metal vocalist, nailing skyhigh notes originally intended for Rob Halford. A legendary release, by a legendary group, with the bonus track "Painkiller" making this import an essential aquisition not only for any fan of Death, but a fan of metal in general. Out of print and unavailable in Japan since September of 2000.
