    Album Description

20 years after their cult debut, 'A Crystal Vision', the lineup that recorded that album returns with 'Darkness Visible'. Inspired by classic metal albums (circa 1982 to 1985) by icons Iron Maiden, Metallica, Queensryche and Mercyful Fate, Sacred Oath create their own potent mixture of dark true metal layered with crunchy galloping riffs, catchy melodies and Geoff Tate-style vocals. Sentinel Steel.

5 out of 5 stars Evocative, Rich with Meaning.......2007-05-18

I found myself spontaneously flowing with Virginia Wagner's songs on Darkness Visible. "Carry Me Away" was with me for hours afterward - I think it's my favorite; so much feeling in her voice. I found that to be true of all of them. If I were to use one word to describe them it would be evocative. The lyrics in all the songs are rich with meaning. "The Same" is captivating, and I really like the guitar technique; it's probably my second favorite. I like "Stand Back" for it's subtle cadence and a powerful recurring punctuation with the the words "stand back". And I love the quality of her voice in "Time Can Stand Still" - it's angelic. A work of art.

2 out of 5 stars Sloppy industrial sludge........2006-06-25

Soulstorm play a sludgey form of industrial metal. The riffs are very minimalistic and repetitive and the drum machine sounds like it came from the 80s. Think of early Prong slowed down to half speed with distorted vocals. I've read more favorable reviews for this album, so if you go for that sort of thing, disregard my rating and give this a try. Otherwise don't bother with it.

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful evil sound.......2007-02-17

Gehenna did an amazing job creating an evil sound. A small number of songs on this album are amazing. The rest are not quite as amazing. The most spectacular song on this album is Vinterrikket. It really sounds cold and evil. Oh, I love it. I highly recommend this for any fan of black metal. Judging by memory, there are no blast beats on this album.

5 out of 5 stars If you ever see this album..........2002-01-03

You had best pick it up because it is an extremely rare find, as are most Gehenna albums. Wheather you like melodic death metal(Death,God Dethroned), black metal(Dimmu Borgir,Emperor), or progressive groups that strattle in between both catagories(Childern of Bodom,Soilwork,Dark Tranquillity), this is an album you should enjoy. The vocals are mostly monotonal rasps but for a small part of Vinterriket(Winter Realm) Sanrabb does clean singing and fits right in without ruining the song. A Myth is an eight minute epic track with an acoustic interlude followed immidiately by a melodic blast-beat-paced section. Sarcanna's keyboard playing is superb with out taking over the rest of the band. Even if the guitars sound fuzzy and take a few listens to get used to, it is still one of the greater ablbum in the genre. It certainly would be one of the better albums of the year if not THE album of the year. Gehenna's new works are lest melodic and more intuned to death/thrash styles, but they do have a little melody to them and are stll a good addition to any black metal rocker's collection. I eagerly await the future Gehenna releases!!!

3 out of 5 stars Middle of the road black metal done well.......2001-12-27

After their disturbed but Gothic and Romantic introductory album, "First Spell," Gehenna put out a middle-of-the-road black metal album that is both well done and easy to like, but not of the far-reaching implications that might make it enduring. Stylistically a synthesis of first-generation black metal into a mid-paced and moody arrangement, these songs are clear and passionate but often too granular to make the broader statements that marked the original burst of growth in black metal.

5 out of 5 stars IF YOU EVEN THINK YOU MIGHT LIKE BLACK METAL, BUY THIS!!!.......1999-07-29

This CD is indeed, tremendous. Perfect amount of atmosphereand brutality; heaviness and musicality; nefariousness, sadness, andcampiness; innovation and good ol' black metal classicism; speed, mid-tempo, and slow dirge. Most importantly: one long evil orgasm. To all the wicked newjack kids out there: don't judge black metal by any one band (or any one album by that band, for that matter) bm comes in a great multitude of flavors. This CD is easily accessible for someone who may have been unable to comprehend Emperor, Immortal, and the like. GET IT! IF YOU LIKE METAL AT ALL, GET IT! (Don't take this stuph to seriously, either; I lost several years of productivity to satanism.) Peace!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best black metal albums ever!.......1999-07-02

This album is great! Maybe one of the best black metal album there is. Buy it now!

    2 out of 5 stars dissapointed!.......2001-11-30

I bought this cd just because i had bought the 3 previous! And i must admitt, though i don't want it,that i was dissapointed.Vol.4 hasn't got that...heroic music of Vol.1&2,or the mystic and dark music of Vol.3.I recognised Mr.LoDuca's style, but i was dissapointed.I think that a cd like X:WP Vol.6 must be created for Hercules too.A cd that will contain cues that weren't included in the other cd's.
I will keep the cd as a treasure, just like i always do with Xena and Hercules cd's,but i won't listen to it that often.Thanks.

5 out of 5 stars "LoDuca scores for Hercules IV - Outstanding!".......2000-11-03

Varese Sarabande presents the latest from "Hercules-The Legendary Journeys Volume Four", again composer Joseph LoDuca gives this score his magic touch, with some of the best from the series last eight episodes. LoDuca scored - "The Evil Dead" (1983), "Thou Shalt Not Kill" (1985), "Evil Dead II" (1987), "Army Of Darkness:Evil Of Dead III", "Hercules and the Amazon Women" (1994) and "Xena:Warrior Princess" (1995), each score bears the signature of this gifted composer.

This long running "cult-series" features..."FULL CIRCLE", "REBEL WITH A CAUSE", "HERCULES, TRAMPS & THIEVES", "A WICKED GOOD TIME", blends several genres of rock, new age and classical symphonic arranging counterpart passages, with staggering epic proportions, completely engulfs the listener.

LoDuca just keeps cranking out melodic themes, the scores are fresh and entertaining...how could you ever imagine this popular series without our "movie-music" composer - Joseph LoDuca!

5 out of 5 stars Hercules and the lost music.......2000-10-01

Well I must say this CD was outstanding. Mr. LoDuca has done it again. With tracks from all eight of the final eight episodes of Hercules The Legendary Journeys. From the tracks Bedeviled to Full Circle this CD packs it all in for one final blow out of the great Legendary hero Hercules. However with the shows ending I fear that there will be no more Hercules music. There is still so much more that has yet to be released. Now I fear with the shows ending we may never hear those lost tracks from the earlier seasons that never made it to CD.
