another classic testament of the world of rage. some of their finest moments are right here.......2007-06-12
hello metallians. rage or should i say(peavy wagner) are one of the leading and largest talents in power metal. this their 4th album sees them taking their lyrics a little more seriously. light into the darkness is an awesome ballad that grabs you from beginning to end and will have you singing along with peavy before you know it. the same lineup from the last 2 albums and this shows rage expanding to even farther territories. i love the first 2 albums with their more thrash focused themes and there were some killer catchy songs on them.also this album is quite a bit different from the last one titled perfect man( check that one out as well) i am not saying this is better because i love them all but im just saying that from this point on rage became alot more serious about their music. i love the way that they were allways able to take different approaches with each album, in giving each album its own distinct sound to set each one apart from the other. not many bands can change so much and still stay true to their power metal roots and keep creating top knotch albums like rage can. one of rages best songs ever is on this cd and that is invisible horizons. that song is still a fan favorite and is played at nearly every show still almost 17-18 years later. the lineup would stay the same for alot more records but eventually it broke up. now since viktor smolski and mike terrana have been with peavy for the last 7-8 years rage are at their peak and peavy has finally put together a band of musicians that have become the best line up rage could ever have, but that is not to say that this line up here was bad because i love the older albums as much as the new and i loved the lineup on this cd. do not judge this book by its terrible cover because this is a killer metal album as is just about anything you can find by rage. give it a try and if you like rage even just a little bit you have got to get their from the cradle to the stage 2dvd set because it kicks A. long live metal and keep the rage alive
A committed teutonic assault.......2006-05-05
This is Rage unleashed. After putting out discs like Perfect Man, where the musical and vocal attack were quality but the songs didn't grab the listener, this is a vast improvement.
Firstly the production is still good after all these years. The songs are to the point, with just enough widdly guitar fluff to keep the punters of the day happy. Biting vocals, blunt lyrics and a backbeat that fits in nicely, rather than driving over the whole project.
Personal faves would be the single Invisible Horizons, a fairly stomping tune with a hammering riff. Time Waits for Noone is also tasty and Make My Day has some (probably accidentally) funny lyrics.
Even Christine, that creation of writer Stephen King gets namechecked in one of the tunes, this band willing to wear their literary inspirations on their sleeve and rightly so when the results are this good.
This band made a big leap forward with this album, they copped a slight amount of stick for adding a bit of melody to their thrash template, but time has proven that this was the right direction to go in anyway, thrash having exhausted most of it's possibilities by the time this album was released.
A great taster for a band that is still (2006) trundling away.

Customer Reviews:
The classic Rage album.......2004-02-03
This album combines the technicality and aggression of the early albums with a more majestic and epic feel. Not a bad song on here, but a whole bunch of good ones.
This album ranks with Reign of Fear as my two favorite early albums. They are only challenged by a couple of the later albums: End of All Days and Black in Mind.
Check this one out. It is a great snapshot of the eighties european metal scene.

Customer Reviews:
It lasts a lifetime.......2004-12-20
This album will last a lifetime in my ears, since I will always want to listen to it again and again. Of course, for it to happen, you must enjoy Peavy's vocals, which are very different from actual Rage. I saw people writing that this album is worse than Perfect Man because the songs are not so fast, but if it was a clone follow-up of Perfect Man, the same people would cast stones saying that Rage is always the same. Secrets In A Weird World is creative, bold and solid. Who would expect an opus as intro, and then a mid paced song instead of a double bass crusher? The lyrics are great, the album rocks.
