This soundtrack offers a pretty standard mix of new songs, old chestnuts, and excerpts from the score (here by John Debney). On the new tip, Joss Stone and Patti LaBelle engage in an overheated battle of the divas on CD opener "Stir It Up," a bouncy piece of fluff that sounds more like Aretha Franklin circa "Freeway of Love" than classic soul. Other originals include Barenaked Ladies' "One Little Slip" (this movie's answer to Counting Crows' "Accidentally in Love" from Shrek 2) and the Cheetah Girls' peppy-but-bland cover of "Shake Your Tail Feather." But the real highlights are the songs performed by the movie's vocal cast, which includes Joan Cusack, Garry Marshall, Zach Braff, Steve Zahn, and Amy Sedaris. Their group cover of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don¹t Go Breaking My Heart," for instance, sounds as if half of them were drunk in the recording studio (and this is meant as a compliment.) Braff's a cappella version of "We Are the Champions" is smashing and Cusack and Zahn's take on the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" is completely demented. The kids will laugh; their parents will laugh even harder for completely different reasons. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
my little one loves Chicken Little.......2007-04-05
My husband bought the Chicken Little movie for our 3 year old (mostly to get us OFF the Cars movie that we all have memorized) and he fell in love with it! He likes to act out the scenes and loves the music. He loves this CD at night when he's going to bed. We all have to dance to One Little Slip (he knows all the words) and then we have to "shake our tail feathers" before he jumps in bed every night! I enjoy the cd too, so it's good for everyone!
this is a great kids cd!!.......2007-03-24
My daughter absolutely loves this cd. I could not find it anywhere until i looked on amazon, so thank you amazon!!
Great soundtrack for the children, especially if they liked the movie!.......2007-03-14
My son loved the movie Chicken Little, so we decided to purchase this for him to listen to on his discman. He loves the soundtrack as much as the movie, which made it an awesome investment(especially since the soundtrack has many good singers that aren't too hard on the ears for the adult crowdes either). My son was very happy with this item, and so was I.
Her favorite gift..........2006-12-23
I bought the CD to accompany the movie. My four year old watches the movie everyday. When I gave her the CD, after listening to it nightly, she takes it to bed with her everynight where I have to pry it out of her hands after she falls off to sleep. I don't get it, but she does...so it's worth what I paid for it.
Chicken Little Soundtrack.......2006-08-29
This is a great soundtrack from a variety of different artists. If your child loved the movie you will absolutely love this CD!!!

If his albums are any indication, Van Morrison seems to have bounced between religions like a demented pinball. Amazingly, for a decade that saw the Belfast enigma explore Christianity and Scientology before returning, on Avalon Sunset, to Christianity, Poetic Champions Compose serves as a reminder that Van managed to even cram in an agnostic phase along the way. With this in mind, a desperately bleak version of the folk standard "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" lacerates the heartstrings. But the album shouldn't be assumed by any means to be a depressing affair. Three saxophone instrumentals, including the Miles Davis-influenced "Spanish Steps," lend a crisp Sunday morning feel to much of the proceedings, while "Queen of the Slipstream" and the live favorite "Did Ye Get Healed" suggest that, however bad the crisis of faith was (and the quite awesome preceding album No Guru, No Method, No Teacher suggests it was pretty bad), here is a man ultimately happy to find redemption in a love song. --Peter Paphides
Customer Reviews:
Another mystical experience .......2007-03-12
Relating to this album as another Van Morrison release is missing the point. Each of his recordings give a glimpse as to where he is on a mystical, spiritual journey. Morrison likes to plumb the depths; this is no bubblegum artist. However, this fact doesn't negate a playful side. Morrison is versatile enough to touch all bases.
" Poetic Champions..." seems a great introduction to the "adult" Van Morrison. After rollicking good times on many old gems ( " Tupelo Honey", " St.Dominics...") Morrison got serious in the mid 80's. 1987 saw the release of this album, containing dreams and lullabies for the mature set.
" Spanish Steps" purrs. An instrumental, it actually sasheys and purrs. "The Mystery" is an open invitation to embrace the unknown while having faith, the challenge all spiritual seekers wrestle with.
" I Forgot That Love Existed" is a wake-up call. The heart still beats, even as the head tries to snuff it out. " Someone Like You" has been featured in quite a few romantic films, but it plays better among its family. " Allow Me", the closing, another instrumental, floats along like a flower, mid-air, on a spring day.
Always rich in imagry, Morrison begins a cycle that recalls seasons; "Poetic Champions..." is fitting for this time of year, awakening from a long winter, happily drifting toward a warm spring.
Poetic Champions Compose .......2007-01-17
I had not bought a Van Morrison album in many years but one night my wife was watching one of her chic flicks, "Bridget Jones Diary" and I heard an awesome, soulfull love song in the film and it sounded like Van Morrison. I checked it out. The song was "Someone Like You" and I finally found a vinyl copy of the album and I listened to it probably four hours that night. The album never grows old. I'm 54 years old and I have an enormouse record collection spanning 5 decades. This album would be in my top 5. All songs on the album are wonderful, but my favourite is "Queen of The Slipstream". Anyone not moved by this album is not human.
A workingman in his prime.......2006-06-07
The line above is from Cleaning Windows, a song from another CD, but it applies to Poetic Champions Compose as well -- Van Morrison is INTO this music, committed to it, and it is music that means something. Neil Drinkwater's keyboards are silk; Van's saxophone chops are up to the task; and his distinctive voice is as expressive as ever. True enough, this is a more romantic, spiritual side of Van, but artists worth the name always strike out for new territories. For 40 years, Van has led his listeners through combinations of rock, pop, soul, folk, country, jazz, celtic, r&b, and whatever else moved him. This is the record that got me hooked on Van, and years later, it is the record that still pierces my heart.
Poetry.......2005-10-26
The moment you start this journey, hearing Mr. Morrison blowing his alto sax, you KNOW this is no regular event. The mood is set - somber, deep and achingly beautiful. Be ready for the simple, honest lyrics set to true soul music from this small powerhouse of a man. He gets spiritual with THE MYSTERY, shares his longing on QUEEN OF THE SLIPSTREAM, bares his heart on I FORGOT THAT LOVE EXISTED, and on and on. But when he sings SOMEONE LIKE YOU, a tear should fall from anyone who's been in love's eye - man or woman. Van continues on a journey into the blues and then back to the spiritual. It doesn't have to end there if you hit repeat. Perfection!!
Sublime.......2005-10-11
This cd has been in my sound system for ten years, on and off. It simply refuses to grow old. I get withdrawal symptoms when I haven't heard it for a length of time. Beautiful, haunting, romantic, melodic...I do not command the vocabulary to describe the power of this cd.
I have nearly 900 cds in my collection. This is in the top three. This is a Desert Island Disc, for those of you who know what that is.
Beyond description. Beyond compare.

A Five-Star Album for Sure.......2007-07-24
It's been over a year since the release of the Eastern Conference Champions' debut EP `The Southampton Collection' last summer, and many fans have been eagerly awaiting the birth of the follow-up album. `Ameritown' certainly proves worth the wait. `The Box' leads off the playlist and, besides being one of my favorite songs on the album, is an incredibly catchy and entertaining song. The rest of the album alternates between songs like the enthusiastic `Single Sedative' and the sauntering `Rabbit Hole'. All the tracks are genuinely well-written and reveal very good recording and production. There are even three songs from the EP which show up in various forms of re-production. Overall `Ameritown' is an excellent album and one undoubtedly worth purchasing. Incidentally, ECC puts on an awesome live show, so see them if they tour in your area.
Take a look in the mirror.......2007-07-19
Disillusioned but driven to make "It" better: ECC lays down a thought
provoking, memory jogging assortment of dazzling styles, textures and
functions. These guys have obviously grown up by negotiating the tough
choices; in life, love and routes taken. Each track plays out like a
road weary yet sturdy study in compassion and the elements that define
our human need to be embraced. Angst ridden and warbling, this is
Americana at its finest; A Sign of the Times that brings us back home!
Exceptionally produced and masterfully communicated by this trio, the
true depth of the message moves in and out between the fabric of the
musicianship and lyrics; each one lending support for the other while
painting a picture that resides between the two.
Ameritown speaks to those that have lived and those that have yet to
experience the highs and lows of our society. It is at once a
nostalgic trip and instructional curriculum designed for a 21st
century that insists we listen closely and challenges us to
reflect on the lessons contained within. It's not hard to imagine a
representative cross-section of our culture tuning in to ECC in an
effort to clarify their own individual paths.
Moody, polished, haunting, festive, dusty, melodic ...Ameritown is a
recollection of where we've been and what we've done.
One could argue that what lies ahead is less important, but what is
made clear throughout this brilliant set is that ECC is ALL of
us...everyday!
Embrace it, live it, it's yours...Ameritown.
Finally.......2007-07-18
Eastern Conference Champions have successfully blown me away with a phenomenal first album. Having been lucky enough to see these guys many times, as well as owning two of their EPs, the boys from Southampton PA (currently calling LA home) surprised me. The staples were all there, including a totally reworked recording of "Nice Clean Shirt" who knew you could improve that song? As well as some amazing new songs my favorite of which is "Rabbit Hole."
Josh, Greg, and Vern offer a breath of fresh air, and truly allow themselves to come through on the album. The CD has something for everyone. pick up a copy, and look for ECC to come to your town!

Customer Reviews:
Queen purists - listen again!.......2007-06-23
Reading some of the reviews on here, I remember my reaction when I first hesard of this collaboration - "WHAT?!" Granted, I am not a Queen fanatic; still, once I purchased and heard this disc, I was blown away! While Freddie had a very powerful and unique voice, so does Paul R. He brings a terrific, soulful & passionate quality to Queen's catalog. It seemed to me at one time that George Michael would be an excellent fit, but I KNOW that he has nowhere near the soul of Rodgers. May & Meadows-Taylor are obviously inspired by Rodgers, as he is by them - everyone's "game" is at their peak. This is worth every penny.
They are the Champions in my book!.......2007-03-10
I loved this CD and the DVD. Its a perfect blend of 2 styles that make each others music even better than it was.
I don't think anyone intended to try and replace Freddie during this match up, because they know you couldn't. These are all fine musicians who just want to play music. I think Paul Rodgers is a perfect new mate for this band, and I personally like it better than before. I've always been a fan of a deep, sexy rock-n-roll voice, and Paul is #1 when it comes to that. So I give this a 5 in my book and I have shown my friends the DVD and they all quickly became fans as well. Job WELL done guys! I can't wait for MORE!!!!
An Essential for All Rock Fans-Love This-Get This!!! The "Peanut butter and Chocolate" Combo for True Rock Fans.......2007-03-06
Metaldiva keeps her ear to the road and when I first heard that this project was in the works I could hardly contain my excitement! This is like the "peanut butter and chocolate" combination of rock... both great alone but WOW together. Paul Rodgers (the front man of Free and Bad Company) and Queen (Freddie included)have remained friends and peers since the early seventies (earlier?)and this was a true labour of love. Paul, who has one of the best voices in rock history, joined with Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor for several select performances worldwide. In their appearance on "Hanging Out With" on VH1C they explained that they were not a "new" Queen, but mutually respecting artists with a love of performing. Each track, Bad Company or Queen, has the favorite feel but with a new twist. They make no pretense to try to imitate the classics, but honor them and add a new flavor. There is no confusing this with a "reunion" or "revival" tour. These hits are redone, revamped and loved anew with the original feel. Paul's soulful vocals, which have always had a melancholy celtic flavor combined with a sensual strength, add different color to the Queen hits. Brian and Roger add the Queen drive and signature guitar flavor to the Bad Company hits. All added together, it takes you back and moves you forward at the same time. This is just great music!!!
*Homage to Freddie and Perpetuation of Artistry*
The world loves Freddie Mercury and I wept openly when he died and still do when I see a clip or video of him even today over fifteen years later. It was a glorious era that ended tragically and prematurely. To this day "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "Love of My Life" tear me up.
When I saw Paul, Brian and Roger perform at the VH1 Rock Honors I became emotional because I respect and revere these gentlemen. They are the idols of most of the rockers today. Their combined effort is a tribute to Freddie, their music, and each other.
Metaldiva Sez: This is ESSENTIAL for every classic rock fan, and never disappoints from beginning to end. This is not a swan song, revival or revamp, but a different and totally enjoyable new way to love already revered artists. Get a copy of this CD and the DVD as well..
**PS Rumor has it they are considering a studio offering of all new material in the future..Go for it gentlemen!
The Show Goes On?.......2007-01-17
It has been more than 15 years since the tragic death of Freddie Mercury, and many die hard rock fans have wondered how could Queen keep it up? Although they've conquered so much in the 70's and 80's, many have doubted that Queen's glory days could be turned into gold. No matter what the eras, no one really could replace freddie. Although they've performed heavily without a lead singer in Freddie's place, John Deacon, Roger Taylor and Brian May decided to give it a whirl with Paul Rogers from the group Bad Company. The big question is actually, can their show really go on with a new lead in Paul?
Return Of the Champions: Queen's 2006 live record, is a double album that tries to bring out a new generation of Queen fans all over. The double record includes so many great tracks recorded with Paul, as well the feeling of a grittier voice than Freddie. Although he tries well, the feeling just isn't the same. The album includes a lot of great tracks including Bohemian Rhapsody, The Show Must Go On, and a well-rendered voice on the sports anthem We Are The Champions. Although the record fairs well, I just honestly wish that more classic songs could've been performed like Bicycle Race, Killer Queen, and The Invisible Man to name a few.
All in all, Return Of The Champions isn't actually a definitive Queen record, but it is nice to actually see them out in the open as Rock royalty. If you're new to Queen's music, I really don't suggest you get this record, as much as you being a die hard fan, because so many aren't used to Paul. Hopefully, if they collaborate on something new, than maybe they'll hit the nail on the head.

How was this allowed to happen?.......2006-12-19
When I first heard of this collaboration I could not help but wonder what these guys were thinking. How, how, how could these two separate styles of music be melded together to give the public something that it wanted to hear? After listening to this, I am still asking the same question. I am a big fan of these two entities (Queen and Bad Company) so I am not trying to bash either quality band, however, listening to this eclectic mix of blues and operetic styles is like drinking lemonade after brushing your teeth...uuuggh!
I still can not figure out why this abomination was deemed a good idea. It is obvious why John Deacon was not involved.
If Queen had really wanted to regroup with a new singer perhaps they could have persuaded George Michael to perform vocals. (I know, not a macho pick, but his style was perfect for Queen.) I will pretend this CD was never released and continue to listen to these artists as separate, distinguishable bands.
What next - The Cars regrouping with Todd Rundgren on vocals?

Customer Reviews:
WOW.......2005-11-18
I know that WOW is kind of a small word but this CD ROCKS! I have loved queen for years. I originally bought this CD for my 10 year old son who took up the violin this year and who loves queen as much as I do but it quickly became mine. I've heard some pretty bad imitations, remakes, and ripoffs. I can honestly say that this CD is none of the above. You get 10 of Queens best. 1) Killer Queen, 2) Bohemian Rhapsody, 3) We Are The Champions, 4) We WIll Rock You, which happens to be my favorite on this disk, 5)Fat Bottomed Girls, 6)Crazy Little Thing Called Love, 7) Somebody To Love, 8) Play The Game, 9) You're My Bext Friend, 10) Another One Bites The Dust. The only downside to this disk is that they left out about a hundred other songs. I sincerely hope that The String Quartet comes out with a volume 2, but why stop there. They could go on forever with just Queen Classics.
Do yourself a favor. If you like Queen and Classical Music BUY THIS CD. You won't be sorry.
YES!!!!.......2005-06-05
Two words: Bohemian Rahpsody.
THey could have released a CD with only this song and I would have bought/borrowed/stolen it to get it. This song is definitely a highlight, but don't stop there, since the rest of the CD will make you want to play it over and over again.
If you've been thinking about buying a String Quartet Tribute, but don't know which to buy, I would buy this one, without a doubt.

Customer Reviews:
Jazzy and atmospheric.......2006-03-17
The instrumental Spanish Steps is the languid jazzy introduction to this album of understated songs. The album takes it name from a line in Queen Of The Slipstream, a gentle ballad with a haunting melody. I Forgot That Love Existed is another jazzy number with gorgeous instrumental flourishes, whilst Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child has more of a soul or R&B feel in its yearning vocals and has something of the same effect as Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home.
Celtic Excavation is an ethereal and evocative instrumental with tinkling piano and a lovely lilting flow and Someone Like You is a slow and moving love song. My favourites include the bouncy Alan Watts Blues with its twanging guitar and the rhythmic uptempo Give Me My Rapture, a catchy inspirational song with great organ flourishes.
The piece Did Ye Get Healed? has swirling female backing vocals and the album concludes with another jazzy instrumental titled Allow Me. The album is quite cohesive in creating a mood of contented contemplation with Morrison's characteristic spiritual undertone. It is probably not considered to be amongst his greatest work, but still a classic in my opinion.
A must-have for Van Fans.......1999-10-12
This is one of my three favorite Van Morrison albums, the others being "No Guru" and "Moondance". This is one that even non-fans will love. Beautiful instrumentals, love songs, songs of spiritual longings. The best from the best.
A classic.......1998-05-29
This and "No Guru, No Method, No Teacher" are my personal favorites out of Van Morrison's many albums. The instrumentals are among his best efforts in the jazz vein, the Black spiritual "Motherless Child" is done with great depth of feeling, and the other songs run the emotional gamut from the cheery "Give Me My Rapture" to the deeply touching "I Forgot That Love Existed." This album shows off Morrison at his best, and I still listen to it often.

Eastern Conference Champions.......2007-02-20
This album is incredible from one of the best new bands out on the scene!
Beautiful and Brilliant.......2007-02-11
Beautiful and Brilliant
This is an amazing EP from an amazing band. Eastern Conference Champions write rock music with heart. First listen I thought the songs were very catchy, and Josh has one of those amazing unique voices that can sooth or cut like a razor. I listened to the EP 10 or 15 times, just rockin to it and then I realized they were more than catchy rock songs. You'll have to give a listen for yourself to understand, but I have to say the last track on this EP "Springsteen" is becoming one of my favorite songs ever.
Excellent CD.......2006-12-31
I love this CD, I listen to it constantly. Josh, Greg, and Vern are all incredibly talented, and a lot of fun to watch live. My only complaint about this CD is that it's only 5 songs, such a tease. Bands like ECC give me faith in the future of music.
True Champions..........2006-12-22
If you think this is great, just wait till their new CD is released.

Poison rock.......2006-04-03
Poison rock but this is there worst compilation cd, a combination of this cd and 'Ballads and blues' cd would have been better. At the time it was to early for anouther greatest hits cd. It also has no hits from Crack a smile or Power to the people.
OK.......2004-03-17
Personally, I don't think this album showcases how much talent Poison has. The selection of songs is limited. I found it a disappointment being a huge Poison fan myself. If you want a good collection, get the Greatest Hits, this isn't their best work.

Stinko.......2005-09-27
If you REALLY like Queen ... stay away from this album. Remix from Hell ... that should be the title. GAWD, I am SO disappointed. Wish I had read the revues FIRST!
Check out the fine print.......2005-09-09
Oops. This is "ruined by Rick Rubin". This is a remix version. If you want the original un-retouched version of the Queen songs don't buy this.
Worst remixes I've ever heard.......2004-01-30
Queen is a great band. "We Will Rock You" and "We are the Champions" are great songs. The original versions are anyway. I bought this in a bargain bin at a CD store for a couple bucks. I've never been a big fan of the "bonus" remixes on the Hollywood Queen remasters, but as a completist, I decided to get this disc.
Yuck. Tracks two through five are awful, and except for track three, you'd never know these are popular Queen songs. I would give this waste of plastic only one star, but I do enjoy the end of track one, which extends Brian May's guitar solo. However, this is the same remix on the News of the World CD, so you can get it there, along with 11 fantastic songs, including the original (and superior) versions of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions."
We will rock you.......2003-06-03
Vivo en Buenos Aires, ciudad de República Argentina quiero conocer la letra de la canción We Will Rock You por Queen obviamente, y alguna otra de Fredy Mercuri.
sure its overplayed but it still rocks!.......2002-06-01
i know it seems like enough is enough but this ones a classic. if you havent heard it you ought to buy it, i like it and im sure you will too!
