This is one of the funniest things I have heard since the Blue Collar Boys. I feel certain that this album WILL go aluminum. LOL

4 out of 5 stars The comic that poseur Foxworthy would like to be.......2002-09-04

I'm a redneck.

So sue me.

But Tim Wilson is _our_ funny guy, who doesn't have to joke about dogs under the porch or recycle the same "You might be..." stuff that ain't funny the first time around and doesn't improve a'tall with age. Instead he gives us the lying uncle from _his_ family who's a whole like the one we grew up with, the brother-in-law from hell we put up with at Thanksgiving (who sometimes doesn't go away till after Xmas).

Tim Wilson is brilliant and pokes fun at anything that strikes him as funny, and makes jokes about things I never thought I'd hear a comedian talk about. Who else has a story about that lying uncle and Rosa Parks?

Only reason I gave this album four stars rather than five is some {guy} has censored it, bleeping words I've known since I was five or six years old (and I'm not talking about the big "F" one).

Buy it anyway, listen to "Chucky Cheese Hell" and remember the last time you ate really bad pizza while the kids went through thirty bucks in quarters.

If you don't laugh out loud, you might be a Jeff Foxworthy fan.

Edgar Winter is sometimes referred to as Johnny Winter's brother, but he is a rock star in his own right, having a # 3 album with They Only Come Out At Night. This album remains a firm fan favorite. Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Recyled and Rejuvenated .......2007-06-11

Edgar Winter has always been a record company's nightmare. Why - because he is just such a damn good musician and singer. He can cover just about any genre of music with conviction and creativity. White Trash was always his best vehicle as it put him in charge of a rockin' R&B horn band with the added pleasure of a second powerful lead singer, Jerry Lacroix. The group unfortunately only lasted for two records which left me and alot of fans wanting for more. This record appeared in the late '70's and went vitually unnoticed. The rhythm section gets a funkin' update with an obvious nod to Tower of Power, and Edgar and Jerry pick up where they left off with their double-barreled soul singing tour de force. Their are a couple of less than stellar moments, but "Leftover Love" and "Stickin' it Out" just smoke with Edgar singing and playing his tail off. Jerry gives his all on "In and Out of Love Blues". For me this record/CD is a must have if you have any musical interest in great R&B with a blusey edge.

4 out of 5 stars 4.5 Stars actually.......2007-08-02

Near perfect. I have been a fan of Remember the Future... well... it seems like forever. A friend in high school said 'if you like Pink Floyd, McCarntney, Alan Parsons, etc.. you gotta listen to these guys'. He was right. This is great progressive rock. This one is more poppy sounding and so it does seem a bit dated in comparison ~~maybe~~ maybe not. I think this one has become my favorite from this band. I've listened to it hundreds of times. Literally. Now how many full recordings can you do that with today? hmmm. If you like the 70s Prog, you must get this one!

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!.......2003-11-18

What kind of idiots make an album about recycling? These guys must be really stupid, I bet they sound like crap. My advice is, don't buy it!

4 out of 5 stars Nektar is tart and sweet on this recording.......2002-04-23

Considering the value of this music, I am still moved by its creativity, content, and emotional cohesiveness. Nektar at their best forged a unique ensemble sound. Quick-jump changes in mood, tempo, and intensity combined with a superb production environment compel the listener to embark on a journey with the band, a journey to the whispered hopefulness of the final track, which oddly enough seems overlooked as one of Nektar's most unique and daring tunes on record, opting for a less-is-more closing. Listen to the album through good headphones, and the enjoyment is magnified. I like Nektar's refusal to parade chops in the place of emotion and passion--this is a passionate and heartfelt work. Frankly, some of Yes' tunes are virtuosic, but fail to arouse my spirit like Recycled does.

Granted, the first half of the recording is superior to its brother...nevertheless, the whole recording keeps me captivated.

5 out of 5 stars Imaginative Progressive Classic........2002-03-23

Nektar never really made the impact that other prog bands like Yes, Genesis or King Krimson did. When you listen to Recycled you have to wonder why. From today's standards most prog rock seems a bit trite, nevertheless, Nektar created a timely piece here that speaks to the issues of the day and does it with some very inventive music. Back to the Future is one of my favorite Nektar albums but I think Recycled shows a greater maturity of sound and style. It's such a waste of time to compare music of this genre and say one is so much better than the other. I appreciate all the progressive bands for stepping outside the mainstream and giving us great alternatives.

4 out of 5 stars Thanks Jim-Bob.......2002-02-19

Recycled is a good representation of prgressive rock, about as good as it gets. In fact, Nektar is a great band that is highly under-rated. They went to Germany because it was one of the main venues for progressive rock not because they couldn't make it in England. Germany is still one of the more progressive electronic music centers of the world.

Noho, were you paid by Larry Fast to write your review? Larry Fast, although a great electronic keyboardist, was not the only keyboard player on the Recycled album. How do you really know what keyboard parts are Larry's and what parts are Taff's?

As for the use of choral arrangements. The choral arrangements on this album are among the better examples I have heard over my many years of rock music listening. To their credit, Nektar did not over do the choral arrangements for this project the ohter bands have.

I agree with Jim-Bob, I had a copy of this record when it first came out in 75-76. I was happy to see it released again on CD.

If you are not a big fan of progressive rock but feel like experimenting, this and Nektar's Remember the Future albums are great buys. If you love progressive rock this album is a must for your collection. FEG

5 out of 5 stars It's like running defragmentation software on your mind........2004-05-06

My stupid college friends made fun of me for listening to things like this back then. I must say, compared to Josh Clayton-Felt and the Beautiful South, Plastikman must have sounded barely like music to them.

But I was right all along. There was something genius about Plastikman's minimalism, and that's the reason I am proud to have a dusty copy of THIS in my CD collection and those people have long since disowned their Josh Clayton-Felt CDs (I will never forget, however, that I won.).

5 out of 5 stars Spastik!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-05-22

This is a very good cd. I get right into it and can listen front to back anytime with no prob. If you like this kind of techno then dont pass up the chance to get this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Richie's best work by far........2000-10-10

Before I go any further - are you a fan of electronic music, in any style? If the answer to that was yes, but you haven't ever heard Spastik... then you need to order this CD RIGHT NOW!! For those that HAVE heard it, they know excactly what I'm talking about...

Recycled is a collection of the work Richie Hawtin produced between Sheet One and Musik. From the 11 minute relentless-but-slow 303-thomper that is Krakpot, through Elektrostatik - the first sightings of the serious percussive filtering that he would employ very much later on for Artifakts - to the driving, floor-worring, and percussive stomps of Spaz and Naturalistik, this is Plastikman in "I'm gonna give you one hell of a headschluck" mode.

It isn't however, until you get to Spastik, that you'll finally, completely understand Richie's distorted vision of minimalism. It is technically a very minimal track, nothing more than a few layers of incredibly well programmed percission, but my goodness - it doesn't SOUND like it. If you can imagine the single loudest, hardest and most relentless hard techno you've ever heard (no, not even the drumcode series)... it's many million times more powerful than that. It's difficult to accurately describe in words what Hawtin achieved here, but now imagine a batallion of 10 tr-808s and 10 tr-909s all synched together with a heck of a lot of filters and other fx. I don't think he used that many, but it darn well sounds like it! For nine minutes.

Unbelieveable, and utterly amazing.

5 out of 5 stars The trippy-ist record of the 20th Century.......1999-06-28

I don't know if I'm the only one, but this is probably my all-time favorite single artist "acid house" CD. Hawtin is having fun on this release, top to bottom, relentless, to mess with your senses. Having come as close to perfection that his technology would let him get, other than repeat himself, he then moved on to the more organic Muzak and then beyond. Recycled Plastik is a essential for any collection of "intelligent techno", or whatever label you wish to attach.

"Somewhere between Sade and Portishead, there's Morley" -Time Magazine "Morley's brooding; harmonically interesting low-key vibe is one that combines Nina Simone's coy wisdom with Joan Armatrading's vulnerable expressions of emotion." -The Philadelphia Inquirer Days Like These is the new album written, arranged, and produced by singer-songwriter Morley, (licensed by Universal Music France for October 2005 release). Co-produced with Ken Rich and multi Grammy®-winning engineer Jay Newland (Norah Jones), Days Like These is a sultry mix of soul, folk, R&B, and otherworldly flavors creating a sumptuous brew that will stimulate your senses and penetrate your soul. Couched in her romantic and angelic voice, her cosmopolitan songs are simultaneously spiritual, sensual, and down-to-earth, with a soulful, international bent. Reflective of her diverse influences as a poet, dancer, choreographer, and singer, her voice and music are a distinctive hybrid of a range of artists from Roberta Flack to Sade to Annie Lenox to Joni Mitchell, with a sound that is all her own. Sensuality, soul, intellect, and relevance are qualities she shares with these artists, and Morley carries on their legacy of writing and performing music from the heart (and mind) for the heart and mind in a sound that is all her own. "With no religious connotation, there's a mix of the spiritual and the sensual in my music", muses Morley, "I join them together because I believe them to be from the same source." A peaceful musical "call to arms" for a spiritual revolution - from the blues-driven urgency of the title track and "Vision Warrior" to the gentle vocal caresses of "Cross These Waters", "Time", and "Softly" to the delicately pensive "Women of Hope", "My Bed Is by the Sea", and "I Remember Me, Too" to the lusty "Pleasure" and lilting "Free Fall" - Days Like These is a soul-stirring listening experience. 13 Tracks
