5 out of 5 stars Dave may have died, but this band sure didnt.......2007-04-16

Ok, as u know this is not Dave Williams. THe new singer is great though. Drowning Pool are back and stronger than before. The song Step Up is a Catchy, fun aong that any metal fan like me can appricate. Everything on this dosc is superb. SO IF UR GUNA BASH THIS BAND BECAUSE THEY SOUND DIFFERENT WHY DONT U TRY THIS CD OUT FIRST! Oh by the way, that 1 review that said Jason should die like Dave has a lot of nerve. Go buy this and give it a try. U wont be disapointed!

3 out of 5 stars Not the Same.......2007-03-30

is sad the first lead singer died he was great but in the 2nd album there go a new lead but like the title says is not the same and I only like the song he did for the ending of the punisher ending credits.

2 out of 5 stars RIP Dave "Stage" Williams- and RIP Drowning Pool.......2006-11-13

After Dave Williams' unexpected death, I like many others thought this act of God signaled the end of Drowning Pool. Drowning Pool was actually my favorite band before Dave's death, after which Linkin Park took the spot that DP had held for so long. So when I heard that Drowning Pool had a new singer and was releasing a new CD, I was naturally really excited- but a bit apprehensive considering the new singer, Jason "Gong" Jones, was most definitely not Williams, and Williams was undoubtedly what made Drowning Pool what it was in the first place. I kept my hopes up, though, and wasn't too disappointed when I first heard Step Up, on the Punisher soundtrack. I thought the new singer sounded nothing like Williams, which isn't a rip, cause hell, he ain't Dave Williams, I can tell you that. What's my point? My point is that the original Drowning Pool was (is) one hell of a lot better than the new DP and "Desensitized" with some other standout tracks besides Step Up, mainly Bringing Me Down and Cast Me Aside. I mean, as I've said, yes the guitars and drums were totally f***ing amazing, but Dave Williams was what originally made Drowning Pool, what caused them to stand out to me, and without Dave at the helm... well, they're just another band out there. Dave was to Drowning Pool what Mike and Chester are to Linkin Park: take them away or replace them, and you don't have what people have come to know and love- you just have a shell trying to echo what the original did. And that, my friend, is why I give it the 2-star rating; cause Drowning Pool it may be in name, but without Dave Williams at the center of it all, it will never be Drowning Pool in spirit- never again.

5 out of 5 stars a fitting tribute to dave williams.......2006-06-13

these guys have balls. The death of your lead singer would be enough to make most bands throw in the towel. Not Drowning pool. Tight songs, great vocals. All in all, a fitting tribute for a band who obviously misses a great peron who is never coming back.
RIP Dave "stage" Williams

4 out of 5 stars Drowning Pool - Another Hard Rock Band gaining ground.......2006-01-31

This is my first purchased Drowning Pool album and I have to be honest and say I was peeking through the selections at my local music store and the album cover art work struck out at me and I had to give this band a listen. I am glad I did. The album 'Desensitized' is a comparatively short album with 11 short songs the longest only running 4:20 odd. But this album is for those who need a band for a dance party - many of these songs are ripe for the mosh pit.

The lyrics are littered with moderate course language and the songs deal with some course themes like drug abuse. The lead vocalist 'Jason Jones', has a strong voice that sometimes does overbear on the beat but overall the songs are toned down enough to listen to.

The songs that most stood out for me were 'Step Up', about how we should always step up and take hold of our dreams, 'Bringing Me Down' about unfair relationships were its a battle to be heard and 'Forget' probably the best song of the album. Overall, this album will be acceptable for hard rock fans and those who like their music with bite. Also as I stated earlier, this CD would be great at a dance party.

4 out of 5 stars Morbid and unrelenting.......2006-05-08

The UK-based Pitchshifter's 1993 album, Desensitized, shows a band of enormous potential that was still only beginning to unfold. This album epitomizes the band's dark, industrial atmosphere that was essentially constant in their work throughout the early 1990's. Although "Diable", "Triad" and "Cathode" are particularly worthy of notice, every track on Desensitized passes the point of no return in terms of hypnotic morbidity. With lyrics varying in range from the self laceration of "Diable", to the government's coercive powers in "Cathode", and finally all the way down to the purely neurotic assault of talking samples in "N.C.M.", after an extended listen to this album, listeners will have been hurled through seemingly every morose, roaring chord of distortion Desensitized has to offer. However, don't be fooled into believing that the carnage is over after hearing the closing song "Routine" as there is, hidden at the end of this disc, a new and improved performance of "Landfill" - a song originally found on Pitchshifter's first album.

Although Pitchshifter has now moved far away from this album's sound, fans of the early 1990's industrial scene should note that this album is not at all to be overlooked with all of its furious potential.

5 out of 5 stars back when pitchshifter still was underground..........2001-07-19

in my opinion this is pitchshifters second best release after infotainment. it is not quite as dark and downtuned as industrial, still it seems strongly inspired by godflesh, but has it's one unique sound. the guitar riffs are heavy and cutting, ministry-like. there is an strong use of samples on some songs, which again reminds me of ministry. but even if there are many similarities to other bands, pitchshifter has it's very own sound. it is more furious than godflesh, more industrial than ministry, more accesable than skinny puppy and heavier than kmfdm. but on the negative side it is also less heavy than ministry, much lighter than godflesh, less experimental than skinny puppy and so on. altogether this is a great album, i really like it. it is heavy, grinding industrial, without losing itself in noises & distortions, which is a common problem among industrial bands. get this if you like any of the aforementioned bands.

5 out of 5 stars nice debut single.......2001-07-20

The first time I heard this song on the radio immediately I want to buy the single. Christian, the lead singer's voice is so distinctive in my opinion and how incredible it is I find, to have such a unique chorus, ending with a high pitch, nice move guys. Can't wait to try their album. Reckon they are going to be big.

          4 out of 5 stars Desensitized.......2000-08-06

I love this song. Ever since the break-up of Vertigo, the group has been keeping it low, but now they return with a new group name and a new track that will no doubt have us all Desensitized.

4 out of 5 stars Aussie pop music for the world........2000-07-28

Featuring 2 members of former Aussie chart act Pseudo Echo ("Funky Town"), this is a great slice of guitar pop. Extremely radio friendly with a catchy chorus, It deserves success in the US. Think Matchbox 20 meet Savage Garden, and you've got the makings of a big hit. Radio music programmers, the challenge is yours.
