I was drawn to buy this CD because of hearing Michael's arrangement and Gary Jules rendition of "Mad World" which was originally recorded by Tears for Fears way back when. I glad I did. The music was written as the underscore for a Science Fiction movie by the same name and now I really want to see this film. The music is other worldly, ethereal and strange in a good way!

Gary Jules' remake of this great past favorite (Mad World) is superb! The accompanying tracks on this album are not my style, but I didn't buy this for the other tracks. For that I feel this score is quite impressive.

Michael Andrews is one of today's best composers. His score for the little-known sci-fi flick "Cypher" was brilliant, and although his music in Donnie Darko is never quite as good (after all, DD was one of his first real scoring jobs), it is a somber, weird, sometimes beautiful album.
Andrews uses many bizarre non-musical instruments and female vocals to great effect, and creates an ambient, sad world that works regardless of your having seen the film.
His song "Mad World" is one of the saddest and most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
The disk isn't very long--just a little over thirty-seven minutes as I recall. But definitely recommended.

Please buy this album so you don't miss out on one of the greatest albums of all time. Seriously, this music is perfectly written and performed by a very professional band. Dann Huff is one of the best guitarists of all time and his singing is so passionate it's unbelievable. I'm not going to write too much more except to say that this is right up there with the best melodic rock ever made. Listen and enjoy!!

I never thought Giant had it in them. Their first alblum was pretty good and usually everyone's first was pretty good. But along came the sophomore slump and that just doesn't exist on time to burn. It is by far their best effort heads above last of the runaways. Wtih songs like thunder and lightning, stay, i'll be there Giant has won me over. I would suggest that if you don't have it, get it a great set of songs from a group that should of been around longer than they were.

Boy do these guys know how to write and perform.
There's hard rockin melodious monsters all over this CD. "Chained" and "stay" are powerful tracks and there are some nice ballads here as well like "Lost in paradise" and "Now until Forever". There really isn't one filler on this CD. If you're into hard rockin AOR and do not possess both "Time to burn" and "Last of the runaways", then there's a gaping hole in your CD rack. Fill the gap now before its too late.

If your waiting on Texas radio to catch up to California, you'll likely wait forever. This band, though supurbly excellent in talent, ability, and original spirit, the prejudice of recording contracts against them has proven rather Contra Bonos Mores and fraught with corporate incompetence.......but this music shines on in spite of such lack of proper backing and equal air time on the FM airwaves. Though devote Christians, these guys don't preach, they share a piece of life like all good bands do. They inspire you to thoughts of positive energy with some awesome guitar, bass, keyboards and drums and sculpt the mood of different atmospheres both domestic and foreign (check out III which contains some live tracks). You will not be disappointed and you can say I said so, so let's get some air play with this "nationwide". One of those hidden jewels from California "lessons in life".

Dann Huff, David Huff, Mike Brignardello and Alan Pasqua had the difficult task of puttin' out a follow-up album to the wonderful LAST OF THE RUNAWAYS. Many thought they couldn't quite do it...they were wrong.
TIME TO BURN, Giant's 2nd effort is a great AOR album, from the opening "Thunder and Lightning" to the killer "Get Use To It".
The album's agreat collection of AOR anthems, almost all co-written with the help of Brit producer Terry Thomas (Bad Company, Foreigner). The result is not as wonderful as it was on the first album (where almost 90% of the songs were co-writen by Mark Spiro), but it goes highly recommended.
"Stay" was the promo single for the record (though it had a different version, with more keyboards, and it was shorter in length).
"Now Until Forever" is a killer ballad, where "I'll Be There (When It's Over)" and "Without You" come as close as a radio-friendly AOR track could get.
Great AOR music, great production...get it now !!!

Looking at the cover of Jake Andrews's debut, it's easy to dismiss him as yet another blues wunderkind of the sort that have emerged with increasing frequency in the 1990s. But pop in the CD and hit play, and immediately one realizes that Andrews is no wannabe. The title track, which opens the album, contains hints of Buddy Guy in its blues-rock riffs, and no wonder: Andrews appeared onstage with Guy when he was but 8 years old. And those guitar riffs, by turns crunchy and smooth, are what to listen for on Time to Burn; Andrews isn't merely technically skilled, but has the ability to set the tone for a song from the opening line. Weak moments are few and far between here, excused by a wealth of strong material that, along with surprisingly mature lyrics, indicates that Andrews is an artist to watch. --Genevieve Williams

I think that Jake Andrews is amazing! He is extremely talented with a very promising future ahead of him. He is only 21 years of age, and people neglect to realize that he was only 18 or 19 when "Time to Burn" first came out. I think that he will be just as great as Stevie Ray Vaughn, one day, and I know that he has a lot to offer musically!...

Hi. I have seen Jake Andrews play at least 30 times seeing as I live in Austin, Tx. I am saddened that anyone wouldn't like this CD especially as much as a couple of people. I agree with the people who said the CD doesn't do him justice. I've watched him grow so to speak and man, if you could see him now. Right now, He and the bassist, Mike Sconce, are writing trax for the new one in Austin. I am amazed everytime I get a chance to see him. Everyone I have recommended the album to or told to see him live has loved him.

      A search for David Hess turned up this CD, which he is NOT on. David contributed SIX songs to the Cabin Fever Soundtrack, including the closing credits. Do not buy this CD if you are expecting to hear David Hess music from the film, those songs are available separately from David Hess at his own .com

      The Cabin Fever soundtrack captures all the fun and insanity that makes the movie such a riot to watch. The soundtrack features a few cool songs from the movie (The Turtleneck's song is hilarious) as well as some well placed dialogue cuts, but for the most part this soundtrack is a show piece for Nathan Barr and Angeleo Badalamenti. Nathan's tracks are great mood pieces that work great with the film and would make great Holloween music if you need some for a haunted house. As far as Angelo's work goes...it's awesome. His stuff is more subtle than Nathan's work and its adds a nice contrast to the other tracks. Some tracks feel like they came straight out of Twin Peaks. Great stuff! I highly recommend this soundtrack!!
