I was looking for the best greatest hits album by Quiet Riot I could find. No store in the area had any selection but this is the ultimate compilation album by this artist. It is a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars Quiet Riot: These songs still rock after 20+ years.......2006-08-30

This album was gotten, no pun intended, for almost a song. You gotta love 80's metal. I do. I got it in record time and had it on my stereo the day I got it. Ripped it for my ipod, also.

5 out of 5 stars Cum and feel the noize.......2006-08-24

I first learned who sang "Cum On Feel The Noize" while my car was being fixed at a shop after the tire blew out near my college my freshman year. I had heard that song in a few high school dances. That song is worth the money of this CD, a great rock/ dance song. A must for any 80s fan.

4 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits To A Point.......2005-09-06

If you are one to start liking a group in a later stage of their career. I always recommend buying a greatest hits cd. Although it doesn't cover ALL of the greatest. It is worth buying. A good value.

4 out of 5 stars The rise and fall of Quiet Riot in a single album.......2006-09-20

THE BAND: Kevin Dubrow (vocals), Carlos Cavazo (guitars), Rudy Sarzo (bass, synthesizer), Frankie Banali (drums & percussion).

THE DISC: (1983) Originally 10 songs clocking in at approximately 41 minutes, this remastered version gives you 2 bonus tracks and almost 52 minutes worth. The bonus tracks: "Danger Zone" (unreleased studio cut), and a live version of "Slick Black Cadillac". Included with the disc is a 10-page booklet containing song titles/credits/times, original artwork and additional black & white photos, a brief 3-page intro, and thank you's. Recorded at The Pasha Music House in Hollywood, CA. Originally released on Pasha's label, this digitally remastered version is on Sony/Portrait/Epic.

COMMENTS: Disco was officially out a few years prior. New Wave was popular. Hard rock was coming back in. To many, American metal was still a question mark in the early 80's. The British/European invasion of heavy metal was in full force (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and the Scorpions to name a few big acts). In 1983 though, bigger albums than Def Leppard's "Pyromania", Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil", or Iron Maiden's "Piece Of Mind"... was Quiet Riot's "Metal Health". 6+ million units sold and growing. As quickly as "Metal Health" rose (the first metal record to hit #1 on the Billboard album charts), the band fell from grace. DuBrow's antics were fairly well documented (difficult to get along with)... with other bands as well as his own. "Metal Health" was a solid album, and it's still a classic... but, it hasn't stood the test of time as well as any of the other albums mentioned above. For me, Quiet Riot was the definition of "pop" hair metal. "Metal Health" created the standard formula that all successful pop/hair metal bands seemed to follow... 1. Some aggressive hard rocking songs (""Breathless", "Run For Cover", "Love's A Bitch"); a couple of hits ("Metal Health", "Cum On Feel The Noise"), and a power ballad ("Thunderbird"). Quiet Riot's cover version of Slade's "Cum On Feel The Noise" hit #20 on the Billboard charts (#5 on the pop charts), as the title track hit #31. "Slick Black Cadillac" had minor success on the radio as well. Cavazo's "Battle Axe" is a short guitar solo - in the same vein as Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption". A brief history of the players is documented in the disc booklet - Quiet Riot being formed by guitar-god Randy Rhoads and singer DuBrow in the mid 1970's without much success; Rhoads and bassist Sarzo leaving QR to play with now solo Ozzy; Rhoads killed in a plane crash; Sarzo returns with Banali joining on drums and Cavazo on lead guitar. Some truly great songs here - my favorites are the title track, "Don't Want To Let You Go", and "Breathless". The ballad "Thunderbird" (though an ode to Rhoads) is musically weak. The bonus tracks - "Danger Zone" fits right in with the rest of the album (good stuff), but the live "Slick Black Cadillac" is absolutely horrible (sounds like an out-of-breath high school band doing a cover tune). The potential was there to continue (and more albums being released), but Quiet Riot never again achieved the success it had in '83. "Metal Health" is a classic in the "pop" arena of metal (4.5 stars).

4 out of 5 stars The First Metal Album To Go #1!.......2005-12-04

I got this album after seeing the kick ass video for the song Metal Health. I couldn't get enough of it! I still enjoy cranking that metal anthem. Ironically Quiet Riot would achieve great success a few years after guitar legend Randy Rhoads left the band to join Ozzy. New guitarist Carlos Cavazo was no Randy but he could play a good riff or a wailing solo. The big hit off the album was the cover of Slade's Cum On Feel The Noize. It seemed you couldn't turn on MTV without seeing that video. But the album has other good songs like the emotional Love's A Bitch and the Cavazo guitar showcase Battle Axe! Then there is the ballad Thunderbird, apparently written about Randy who died in a plane crash in 1982, and the smooth rocker Breathless. The track Slick Black Cadillac is a decent song from the Randy years and Let's Get Crazy is simple but fun headbanger. The only song I never got into was Don't Wanna Let You Go. Quiet Riot's career would go downhill after the next album but Metal Health is still a good album despite some of the ridicule heaped on it.

4 out of 5 stars BANG YOUR HEAD TO METAL HEALTH.......2005-08-02

WHILE THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM AND I DO REMEMBER WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT BEING 16 YEARS OLD, THE RIOT DONE A EXCELENT JOB OF COVERING SLADE'S HIT "CUM ON FEEL THE NOIZE" FROM 1973 AND THE OTHER SELF PENNED HIT "METAL HEALTH". THERE ARE SOME OTHER GREAT (WELL KNOWN) TRACKS ON HERE AS WELL "LOVES A BITCH" AND "LET'S GET CRAZY". I DO RECOMEND THIS IF YOU DON'T OWN IT BUT, TOO THE UNDERTAKER (ISN'T THERE A WRESTLER CALLED UNDERTAKER)..QUIET RIOT WHILE THEY WERE A PRETTY GOOD BAND, DOESN'T TOUCH THE STATURE OF THE MIGHTY LEPP. AND WHILE THIS ALBUM DID SELL WELL, IT BY NO MEANS OUT SOLD HYSTERIA, SO HOW'S ABOUT A BOTTLE OF WINE WITH YOUR CHEESE. ENOUGH IS SAID

4 out of 5 stars 80s hair metal at its best.......2005-08-01

Metal Health is one of the best 80s hair metal CDs. Good melodies and guitar riffs, nice solo work and good screaming vocals from Kevin Dubrow. I just listened to this over the weekend for the first time in a while and it still holds up. The lyrics are juvenile but that's pretty standard for 80s metal. Sing along to the stupid rhymes, crank it up and bang your head.

5 out of 5 stars Back To Basics . . ........2007-05-05

I just picked up the new QUIET RIOT CD REHAB, and I was pleasantly surprised. After listening to it, I found that Kevin DuBrow's vocals were a lot stronger than before. I left off after QR3, but of the eleven songs, I really liked:Free,Blind Faith,South Of Heaven, Black Reign, Strange Daze,In Harms Way, Beggars And Thieves, Don't Think and It Sucks To Be You. Now as usual, I just loved listening to Frankie's drumming throughout the listed songs. I've been a fan of his drumming since METAL HEALTH and when he played with Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P.

5 out of 5 stars If this is Rehab...where do I sign up?.......2007-04-09

Wow! This album is AWESOME! And believe me...those words have never uttered outta my mouth over anything Quiet Riot has ever released in their entire career. I am not sure but I saw Quiet Riot back around 2001, the "classic - Metal Health" line up and was pretty bored throughout the show (I think I actually left early). Then in 2005 I saw them again, but with a different guitarist and bass player, and was completely blown away. Maybe the new band blood put some much needed inspriation into Kevin DuBrow but vocally that night he was amazing. 2006 saw the release of this album, and while I remembered the band played very well, I still wasn't sure what to expect. Was I surprised! Let me tell you...this CD kicks butt. South of Heaven, Blind Faith, and Beggars and Thieves all sound like Quiet Riot outta the early 70's Faces/Humble Pie songbook. This CD has totally abandoned any and all the cheese of their Metal Health era / bland formulatic songwriting and put out to me, the best songs and album of their career. I am not really a fan of Quiet Riot, and had only heard Metal Health and some later tracks off of Condition Critical, and Guilty Pleasures (awwh, God awful, makes listening to a Poinson CD good for you). So this is an inspired, GROWN-UP, record, where a band that has a 30 year history should be and not resting on the laurels of Come On Feel the Noize. Oh yeah, the duet with Mr. Voice of Rock himself Glenn Hughes and Kevin tearing it up on Evil Woman is the icing on the cake.

4 out of 5 stars Hey, it's not Metal Health, but you'll still want to bang you head here and there.......2007-02-15

The Good
As the opening verse of "Free" hits, you instantly recognize it as the voice of Quiet Riot. Vocalist Kevin Dubrow hasn't wavered a bit from his heyday, except he may be a little more refined and in key. The chorus is undeniably catchy and will burn in your subconscious for month. By the time you get to "South of Heaven," you start to realize, this isn't the Quiet Riot I grew up with. That's not a bad thing though. Dubrow's new found appreciation for blues-based rock really shines on this track in particular. In addition to the change in music style, there's a drastic change in songwriting. No longer does Quiet Riot come off as cheesy or amateurish with their lyrics.

Okay, so growing up I didn't think that way about their music (still don't really), because that was the in thing, but compared to the new material, Quiet Riot have matured. "Black Reign" kicks the drumbeats into overdrive and the energy level to the top. It still has that metal feel, but adds that extra element of vocal and guitar melodies. If you you've been keeping tabs on Kevin Dubrow recently, you'd know that he bows to the feel of ex-Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes. He actually can't shut up about him. Anyway, if you didn't know that and just knew who Hughes was, then you wouldn't instantly recognize his style on the track "Old Habits Die Hard." The track is bluesy, soulful, and full of moving drum beats and subtle guitar licks.

"In Harms Way" has a nice bounce to it as the bass work of Tony Franklin and drum work of Frankie Banali work in tandem to create that pulse. Guitarist Neil Citron lays down some jarring riffs on "It Sucks to Be You," as Dubrow does the typical frontman trash-talking. Getting back to Glenn Hughes, he makes an appearance on the Spooky Tooth cover "Evil Woman." Hughes is at his soulful best and plays well off of Dubrow's howls.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
A lot of listeners or fans tend to pigeon-hole a band by only accepting a certain sound from them. If it's not what they remember them for, then they want nothing to do with it. That's a shame. In the case of Quiet Riot, they really don't sound much like themselves as far as musical style goes, but the voice is still undeniable. In addition to that, with their latest album Rehab the group showcases that they have really grown as musicians. They're not so much the wild, young, and crazy guys they were 20 years ago. They've become seasoned musicians that have honed their craft and managed to put out a different style of music for them that is both well-written and enjoyable to listen to. Hey, it's not Metal Health, but you'll still want to bang you head here and there.

1 out of 5 stars What Happened to Them????.......2007-01-07

I saw they came out with a new CD, and thought it would be as good as their last couple, alive and well and guilty pleasures. I've tried listnening to it four times now, but there seems like sometings missing. It's like there isn't any heart or feeling in any of the songs. Listened to some of the other stuff then this new one again, but that just made the newer one sound worse.

They used to be good, but I would pass on this one.

1 out of 5 stars Embarrassing........2006-12-24

When I learned from Kevin DuBrow's web site that Quiet Riot had a new CD, I was excited! To put it in perspective, I was a high school Freshman when "Metal Health" was released and saw QR on that tour. Twenty-plus years later, MH is still one of my all-time favorite albums.

It took me four stops to finally track down "Rehab." Apparently, most music stores only stock what they believe consumers like and will actually buy. Go figure. But FYE had it for a mere $9.99. (In retrospect, I wish I hadn't parted with my Alexander Hamilton.)

My kids were in the car when I played this CD for the first time. I'm not sure if I was more embarrassed having them think that I once liked this band, or if I was more embarrassed for DuBrow, Banali & Company for recording it. (Maybe I was embarrassed for Glenn Hughes crediting himself as part of the project. He should have considered using Alan Smithee as a pseudonym.)

QR peaked early with MH and has been sliding downhill since "Condition Critical." Tragically, this CD follows that same trajectory. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, on this CD is worth writing about. I'll usually listen to a CD that doesn't impress me a couple of times to see if it grows on me, but the first time through with "Rehab" was painful and the second time was simply boring. There are no hot guitar licks, the vocals are tired, the songs loose, I think there are bass lines (but can't be certain), and the drumming lacks creativity and passion. And no one will confuse the lyrics as something perhaps penned by either Lennon or Townshend. I hope Kevin and Frankie invested well earlier in their career and don't need to tour to support this one.

The one highlight for "Rehab" was the picture on the inside the jacket of Kevin DuBrow with Frankie Banali. Kevin now has hair (plugs? Rogaine??) and it's dyed blond. Apparently, he's going for the Carlos Cavazo look of 23 years ago. Again, embarrassing (but humorous!). It's like looking at a 50 y.o. woman who wears hotpants and still thinks she's got "it": kind of gross and twisted, but kind of funny in a mockingly way.

I bought this CD in part as a novelty and in part out of nostalgia. The reality is, it's a freak show. Simply, embarrassing.

5 out of 5 stars "We're a sign of the times, havin' fun ain't no crime...".......2007-04-09

To my understanding the band was rushed to get a follow up album for 'Metal Health' out quickly. 'Condition Critical' was the result. This is a solid effort from start to finish. 'Sign of the Times' kicks it off and delivers a shot across the bow to get your attention. I always thought of this as a great album to play at parties because the entire album fits the occasion. 'Winners Take All' is a good ballad and anthem, 'Mama We're All Crazee Now' is a great cover, 'Party All Night' is a metal classic, and I liked the one-two punch of 'Scream and Shout' and 'Red Alert' on the second side, or should I later on the DISC (I'm showing my age there). The rest of the songs fit in nicely and do not disappoint. I know 'Metal Health' is an awesome album, set the bar, and lead the metal charge back in the day, but I like 'Condition Critical' just a bit more...

3 out of 5 stars The end of their fifteen minutes of fame.......2006-07-24

Quiet Riot released Condition Critical in the summer of 1984. Their previous album, Metal Health, would go to #1 and give the band their two biggest hits, "(Bang Your Head) Metal Health" and a cover of Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize." The album's success ultimately paved the way for the L.A. metal scene as several metal bands, most notably Motley Crue and Ratt, would achieve similar success with their next albums, Shout at the Devil and Out Of the Cellar respectively. However, while both of these bands would be able to maintain their momentum for their next several albums, Quiet Riot's fortunes began to fall with their very next album, Condition Critical. Released shortly after the title track slid off the charts, the album is an unfocused affair. And the freefall would continue after this as their next albums, QR III and their self-titled fourth album would be progressively worse.

The album actually starts out strong with "Sign of the Times", which while similar in structure to "Metal Health", is very good. "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", another Slade cover tune, would be the first single and is also very good, albeit not on the level of the original. "Party All Night" is a great tune and its accompanying video, which would be considered cheesy these days, was pretty cool also. After this, the album is hit and miss. While anthems like "Stomp Your Hands (Clap Your Feet)" and "Red Alert" are catchy, "(We Were) Born to Rock", "Scream and Shout", and "Bad Boy" are mediocre at best. As for the remaining tracks, "Winners Take All" is a half-hearted power ballad that doesn't touch the ones on Metal Health while the slow grinding title track doesn't work despite having its moments. All told, Condition Critical is a very inconsistent album that would start the band's swift downward spiral.

4 out of 5 stars quite riot rocks!!!.......2005-10-25

Man this group is way before my time but all you people that can't dig really good metal are missing out. I first heard this stuff in my uncle's trans-am with the windows down and his girlfriend yelling at him: turn that down! And the more she yelled at him to turn it down the more he turned the volume nob to the right!

"Cum on feel the noize" is eaisly the greatest rock song ever wrote in history! Period.

This is like rock n roll- totally. Don't miss out and dig it at loud volume and make your life a party 365 day of the year!! Metal forever!

5 out of 5 stars this is a definite classic........2005-06-28

Quiet Riot's 84 release is a combination of metal and good times. standout tracks are "Sign Of The Times" a cover of Slade's "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", "Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet", and the title track. the burning question is, where are you guys?

so much promise. this cd is a really neat item that brings to life the early parts of randy's career. Too bad they wont release both full albums.... a highlight is his solo "laughing gas"

CAUTION: SPOILER _-----------------------------------------------

But the solo is a LOT like the one he plays on the live tribute CD during Suicide Solution. Not exactly though. the solo also seems to contain some early workings of the riff from crazy train and an early version of Dee. Pretty neat stuff. Four stars only because its not both complete albums

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - Great music, so-so compilation.......2005-03-25

The Randy Rhoads Years. A compilation of early Quiet Riot material.

Contrary to what many people believe, Quiet Riot actually existed long before the Metal Health album. In their earier incarnation, the band featured Randy Rhoads, who would go onto short-lived fame as a guitarist in Ozzy Osbourne's band up until his tragic death. The band's first two albums, released while Randy was still in the band, were only released in Japan. But now a compilation of material from this era has been released in America! Read on for my review of The Randy Rhoads Years.

PROS:
At long last, some material from the Randy Rhoads era of Quiet Riot gets an American release. Roughly one quarter of these songs come from the band's self-titled 1978 release, another quarter come from 1979's Quiet Riot II, and the other half of the material is previously unreleased anywhere. For the most part, this set does a good job picking the best tracks from those albums, though there are some problems (more on that later.) Perhaps one of the most interesting tracks is Laughing Gas - a nine-minute-plus instrumental that showcases Randy's guitar skills. There are also some alternative versions of tracks that appeared on the albums - an acoustic take on Afterglow (Of Your Love) and a reworking of Mama's Little Angels entitled Last Call For Rock And Roll. Another good thing about this set is that it's priced low.

CONS:
WHY RELEASE A COMPILATION INSTEAD OF JUST RELEASING THE FIRST TWO QUIET RIOT ALBUMS IN AMERICA!? The two albums will fit on a single compact disc, and I think that would have been a much better idea than this. Because of this, the albums will remain elusive, and fetch huge prices on the black market. Likewise, this compilation is only about forty minutes long, despite the fact that you can fit eighty minutes on a CD! There is so much stuff from those albums that you're deprived of on here. And remember those reworking tracks I mentioned in the paragraph above? COMPARED TO THE ORIGINALS, THESE REWORKINGS SUCK. The reworking of Mama's Little Angels (Last Call For Rock And Roll) is actually pretty good, but it's a chump compared to the original version of the song. What really pisses me off is the acoustic version of Afterglow (Of Your Love.) Afterglow is my favorite Quiet Riot song, and this half-assed acoustic take doesn't do the song justice - you've gotta hear the REAL version on Quiet Riot II. Had the record label released the albums here instead of this compilation, I probably wouldn't have so many cons.

OVERALL:
If you're a Quiet Riot fan, or someone who liked Randy Rhoads' work with Ozzy, pick this up and discover the forgotten days of Rhoads. But take my advice - GET THE FIRST TWO ALBUMS, TOO! Although this compilation does a lot of things well (like the unreleased stuff), IT IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE ALBUMS IT REPRESENTS. The albums are very hard to find, but they're worth hunting down.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2004-07-27

this album, is perfect it has all of Randy Rhoads old stuff, if your a Rhoads fan, such as my self you'll really like this one. you might want to get some more albums that feature RR's stuff such as "Blizard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman"

5 out of 5 stars Great compilation of the early Quiet Riot days.......2004-05-28

Well there are a good amount of people that don't realize that Randy Rhoads is the man that started Quiet Riot when he was 16. Metal Health was not the first album by this band. This album has some tracks from the first 2 Quiet Riot albums which were only released in Japan. Randy was a great guitarist in the '70s before joining Ozzy. I think the songs on this compilation are better than anything Quiet Riot went on to release throughout the '80s and beyond. Kevin DuBrow's voice is much more solid in these recordings. Songs like "Trouble" and "Killer Girls" were remixed and sound better than the originals. "Last Call For Rock & Roll" was originally "Mama's Angels" from Quiet Riot 1 and was re-made with new lyrics and basically turned into a completely different song that is only available on this album and I must say it's a great tune. If you want to hear some of the earlier works of Randy Rhoads and how Quiet Riot started out, this is a compilation well worth purchasing.

5 out of 5 stars Great but...............2004-04-13

I wished, as everyone did, they just put out the 2 Japan only albums on CD, I wished they had put the oiginal "Slick Black Cadillac". My favorite from QR II. see in the US, Actually QR III should actually be QR V. I only have the secong LP on vinyl and the pressings, even mint have a bit of static. Still this is a Randy dream come true! GRAB this while you still can! "Killer Girls" is a great strip song!

4 out of 5 stars For Quiet Riot fans only.......2005-01-30

This album does not demand a lengthy review. "Guilty Pleasures" is the most recent studio album by Quiet Riot. It was released on a small label, Bodyguard Records, that has since gone out of business.

This album contained the 'Metal Health' lineup that had also recorded the previous album, 'Alive and Well' in 1999. The songs here, and the album as a whole, can be considered an improvement on 'Alive and Well.'

The best songs here include 'Rock the house', 'Feed the machine' and 'Vicious Circle.' 'Street Fighter' is also a good song, that one sounds like it came off the band's 1984 album 'Condition Critical.' The intro on 'Rock the house' reminds me of Twisted Sister, slightly.

Other notable songs include two ballads. The titles are: 'I can't make you love me' and 'Let me be the one.' These songs are above average, but actually sound like the same song but with different lyrics.

In my opinion, 'Blast from the past' was a forgettable song and the title track, 'Guilty Pleasures' was weak.

The remaining songs are all at least above average or "good."

Finally, 'Fly too high' closes off the album. It sounds exactly like an acoustic version of the band's classic song 'Metal Health (Bang your head)', but with different lyrics. It has the same melody and vibe, just much slower, and it is acoustic.

The good songs on the disc are strong and will please Quiet Riot fans. Material from this album fits right into their set list. There are a few albums from Quiet Riot's back catalog that I would consider to be stronger than this one ('Metal Health', 'Condition Critical', 'Terrified', 'The Randy Rhoads Years' and 'Down to the Bone'). However, this one will not disappoint someone who is a fan of the band, such as myself. It does sound like more traditional Quiet Riot than some of their other releases ('QR' with Paul Shortino or 'QRIII'). It is a good return to form and the band achieved what they set out to do: recreate a rock record sounding like their 80's heyday.

5 out of 5 stars Back to The Asylum..........2004-08-01

What can be said about Quiet Riot beyond "Condition Critical" and "Metal Health"? How many prognosticated that with the flatulence of scrap metal grunge that this vociferous high-energy quartet would disappear, yet this did not occur - that riot may have gotten a little quieter, but that is only as far as "popularity" is concerned - yet that is not because the band has been diminished in its Heavy Metal content, but only because record executives lured the herd away from the genre that they may instead chew on some grungy cud, yet Heavy Metal remains its own entity, despite how many sheeple may be listening. It you determine you have discovered something that works for you, edifies you, grants indulgence, stay with it. As a matter of fact, it is indeed stratification to observe who remains standing after the next wave of trendiness comes along - it is more or less cleaning house, disinfecting the poseurs from the midst of what carries value and quality, as opposed to mere disposable consumerism and valueless quantity.

And so is the case with Quiet Riot, who, through this release, continue to propitiate that hard-edged head-banging, hand-stomping, feet-clapping fun without placation.

I was not sure what to expect when I slipped the CD into the Infernal Machine - would the music preserve or betray its integrity? Thankfully, the sound herein retains its heaviness - I immediately recognized it as genuinely Quiet Riot's, and not some watered-down mutation of its former self - I recognized the harmonious strains and the feral DuBrow vox. It is a compliment to the band that they have remained true to themselves amidst the morass of pop-faddists. Now, you will want to insert this CD into the Infernal Machine because, lo and behold, a surprise awaits you on the desktop - an .avi file featuring an audial documentary on the making of Guilty Pleasures. featuring members of the band elaborating on some of the lyrics, band history, musical compositions and inspirations, some private life relations, all explained in that characteristic effervescent manner.

The visuals are pleasing as well - the group, which remains solid as Kevin DuBrow, Rudy Sarzo, Carlos Cavazo, and Frankie Banali incite the Quiet Riot in full. They actually look like a Rock/Heavy Metal band, which alludes that this is who the band really is, on and off stage, musicians who play from the metal heart and truly live it. The cover image depicts a scene from the Adam and Eve mythos, partaking of the Forbidden Fruit which represents carnal knowledge, rendered by none other than a favorite Artiste Albrecht Durer, with the addition of the Metal Madness mask obfuscating the genitalia of the nude figures, which was an amusing touch indeed.

Another mentionable bit of commentary is that among the generally self-destructive or death & misery-obsessed plethora connected to this genre, QR is actually quite life-affirming with decipherable lyrics speaking of earthly indulgence, love and lust, living life to the fullest - overall fun, which, since its inception, has been what QR is all about. Guilty Pleasures is certainly a worthy addition to your Heavy Metal collection - the condition is still critical, so play it loud for your metal health.

5 out of 5 stars I took a chance and scored BIG!.......2004-06-16

I took a chance and bought this CD really cheap from a seller here on Amazon without hearing any of it or knowing much about the album. Well, when it arrived and I put it in, I was ROCKED! This release is very impressive. The boys really did a good job on this one. Loud and badass just like Quiet Riot should be. I highly recommend it to both Quiet Riot fans and hard rock fans.

5 out of 5 stars Quiet Riot still has it after all these years!.......2004-04-22

I just got this cd today, I can't beleive i waited this long to get it. This CD kick ass period!I have been a QR fan since 83 got my first Metal Health record when I was 9. Let me tell you Kevin DuBrow still has it, better than ever! I have bought a lot of CD's this year and this one is one of the best by far! Any true QR fan will love this CD. It sure sucks that they broke up late last year. It really bummed me out. Maybe they will get back together again and make a new CD!

5 out of 5 stars The Best QR Album Since Metal Health.......2004-03-02

Very few hard rock bands can say they sound the same in the 21st century as they did when they started, but Quiet Riot is one band that certainly can. (It' too bad they have always been rather under-rated.) This is the best Quiet Riot album since 1983's Metal Health, and is a must-have for any hard rock fan. The first three songs alone make the entire album worth buying, especially "Rock The House."
In fact, not only is this one of the best QR albums ever, but it's the best of all rock albums so far this decade. It's a shame that this band recently called it quits, because a good follow up to this album could have made them rock band of the decade.

2 out of 5 stars Too slick and poppy!.......2006-08-11

Let's face it, Quiet Riot didn't make great albums, but they sure did have some good headbanging tunes on their first two albums. For their third release, they decided to crank up the keyboards and go for a much poppier sound. Now I guess that would be okay if the songs were catchy, but they mostly aren't. I do like "The Wild And The Young" even though it is much too slick and overproduced. I also enjoy "Put Up Or Shut Up" as a good, dumb rocker. But that's it. The rest of this disc is quite forgettable.

4 out of 5 stars The best QR album.......2005-06-26

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really think QRIII is the best album this band ever did (Metal Health is a close 2nd, though). It's also their most "pop metal" album, featuring more keyboards and de-emphasizing the guitar a little bit.

The whole first half of this disc is incredible, especially "The Wild & the Young," & "Twilight Hotel." Chuck Wright's bass solo "Bass Case" is pretty cool, as well. If you like QR, you probably already have this, but if you're new to the group, this is a great album to add to the collection.

3 out of 5 stars Quiet Riot falls out of the limelight........2004-12-18

I remember when MTV had "The WIld and The Young" in heavy rotation. I was a good catchy anthem. True it was difficult watching Kevin DuBrow wearing that oversized poodle wig without cracking up. The man with no hairline for the last two albums now had Bon Jovi hair times 10!

The album has a couple good songs here and there like maybe "Put it up or shut it up." But this album has a lot to much synth and pop polish for my taste.

There must have been a misgiving with Kevin 'The Mouth' DuBrow because after this album he was tempoarily replaced for the next album 'Quiet Riot'. I heard he had been bad mouthing the prodcuer behind his back when the guy was actually standing behind HIS back!! HA ha, only in Rock n Roll.

5 out of 5 stars One of the BEST albums of the 80's.......2004-11-19

This one stays in heavy rotation within my collection. Not ONE bad song on the disk.

5 out of 5 stars A masterpiece...simply unforgettable.......2002-07-25

The song "Put Up or Shut Up" from this record says it all...my boys from QR know what's up.

If you don't own this record, you probably don't know rock. And if you don't know rock, then you should probably just put your headphones back on and finish up your lame Radiohead album.

QR is the real deal, folks, a better band than most.

I'D CHECK IT OUT!!!!

Quiet Riot managed to wake up suburban America and ascend to the top of the charts even after their founding guitar god Randy Rhoads defected to play with Ozzy Osbourne. The band's biggest hit "Cum on Feel the Noize" was actually a Slade cover, but Quiet Riot delivered it with such drive and attitude that it became their own. Aside from that anthill-stomping track, the band's glam-bangin' debut Metal Health features such in-yer-face morsels as "Slick Black Cadillac," "Run for Cover," and the title track, all of which blended the image and good-time vibe of the Sweet, Slade, and Queen with the guitar firepower of Van Halen. --Jon Wiederhorn

4 out of 5 stars Bang Your Head!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-01-03

Quiet Riot were the first of the 80s hair bands to get big. This album was the first metal album to hit #1 and did so by knocking down Michael Jackson's Thriller. This album is a must have for any fan of the 80s. Kevin DuBrow is a great singer, while Rudy Sarzo is a bass legend. Before this album, Randy Rhoads of Ozzy fame was in this band. Carlos Cavazo is an excellent guitar player and is just a notch below Randy. Every song on this cd is a winner. Fans of Twisted Sister will enjoy this metal masterpiece.

4 out of 5 stars Killed by Commerce.......2005-03-16

When Metal Health was released, "Cum On Feel The Noize" was immediately presented as a single for radio play. It attracted attention from a broad cross-spectrum of listeners: it was hard enough for a lot of Metal-Heads, but safe for the Preps to "Rock-Out" to when they were overcome by the heady mixture of beer and hormones at the high school dance.

That meant it wasn't hard enough for ME. I was into stuff like Maiden, Priest, Krokus and WASP, and if the PREPS could bang their heads to it, well, I just avoided it all on principle.

Fast forward 20 years, and, in my first foray into the Internet, I stumble across "Metal Health" on a heavy metal Internet radio station. Maybe it was the 5th of Jim Beam I had downrange at the time, or the Hi-Grade pot I had for dessert, but something clicked then, and hasn't lost it's hold since.

Instrumentally, though over-produced within an inch of it's life, the songs' crashing guitars and hammering drums are still loud and sparse enough to catch your attention and start the inevitable nod of the head that leads to an all-out whipping of the top 12 vertebrae in your neck.

Kevin Dubrows' near-screaming vocals take this one over the top. He must have scalded his lungs, the way he snarled and spat his way through the entire song.

Every time I get the opportunity to crank this one up to 11, I do. and it never fails to get my heart-rate up in the danger zone and send cold shivers down my spine.

Too bad the rest of the album is so limpid and banal. But that's what happens when you try to write for the radio.

5 out of 5 stars Bang your head! Metal Health will drive you mad!.......2001-10-16

To sum it up quickly this is simple, carefree, fist pumping, head banging, stereo shaking, riff making magic. It is hair metal's holy bible and packs more attitude then most of the movement combined.

You need not be embarrased to have this in your collection. The head pounding riffs of Metal Health and Cum On Feel the Noize (Both of which are anthems of the metal 80s) should suit metalheads just fine. The rest of the album also has some truly golden moments as well. (After listening to it you'll think Love's a B**** too)
So Cum on Feel the Noize. Even if you have a remote interest in heavy metal, this should be in your collection. In fact just for the first two songs alone a copy of this is valuable property. It simple, fun, great party music, and hair metal at its finest. Don't hesitate. Get it NOW!

5 out of 5 stars A good pure solid dose of Mind numbing madness!.......2001-08-25

Quiet Riot's Metal Health album is THE HEAVY METAL album that I've been searching for since the 80's and I found a copy of this CD in the late 90's. The title track "Cum on Feel the noize' is THE ROCK ANTHEM of the 80's heavy metal rock decade! "Cum on Feel the Noize" has a very strong and agressive head pounding beat that will make you bang your head on the wall to the beat. Enough to raise the dead from the clutches of glam/hair rock bands. It won't let go of you because of its relentless and rapid intensity. Its lyrics are easy to sing to and can be sung by heart even without playing the CD! Its also the best party harty song of the decade and is still very much today! The second best track not to be outdone by the title track "Metal Health" competes on the very same level as "Cum On Feel the Noize" has the best head-pounding, power-cord tune. When I brough this album I became a true Heavy Metal junkie. This CD has plenty of mind-numbing, head pounding, brain-smashing, ear-shattering Heavy Metal madness that's guaranteed to cure and clense your mind of glam/hair rock soft marshmellow ballads. I tell you once you've heard both tracks you'll never go back to glam/hair rock bands because Quiet Riot "Is not a looser and they ain't no weepers" Yes, Quite Riot is the only CD that's got the right dose of Metal Health I and everyone else who buys this CD will ever need. Bon Jovi, Boston and the other Glam/Hair Rock banks can never hold the candle up the the Masters of Heavy Metal and their name is QUIET RIOT!

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CD'S.......2001-06-20

"Metal health"it's one of the most important rock cd's of all time, because all the tracks contains the essence of the 80's rock. The songs are powerfull and very voize, this cd it's very great.
