This is the most focused and most ANGRY EHG yet!!

They just keep gettin meaner, the next step may be to eat the world!!

The whole EHG conecpt can just not be ignored in this day and age, EHG should be on all tv show's, all newsweek cover's..etc TO GIVE YOU TRUTH!!!!!

Just like all other EHG ..if you dig them BUY IT!!!

''BLOOD MONEY''!!

5 out of 5 stars Sick, sick, sick..........2005-08-31

eyehategod isn't that just a great name? Ha...Yeah, anyways, i've been a fan of both crowbar, acidbath, and ofcourse eyehategod for quite a while and i find that smoking weed while listining to any of their music is out of this world. Eyehategod's " confederace of ruined lives" is one of my most favorite cds ever. Highly recommended. If any christians try to talk to you? tell them i-hate-god.

4 out of 5 stars new decibel magazine dumps on this.......2004-09-03

so it inspired me to go clear some things up for anybody checking out this album as a result of it(author of 'choosing death's new magazine). they claim that after the long hiatus between dopesick and this album, they released the worst album of their careers. maybe, but this album still rules and i can't compare it to their debut cuz i haven't gotten it in the mail yet.

plain and simple, it kills. revolution/revelation will get you pumped up and ready to smash things. the following tracks after that will make you want to smash things too. few bands are as groovy, sludgey, nihilistically pissed off, and just plain good as eyehategod. that's about all you need to know.

i should note that after the feedback interlude in the middle of the album, it's over for me as my mind has drifted onto other things. the songs after that aren't bad, they're still better than a lot of sludgebands but even as i write this i can't recall the riffs. it doesn't really bother me though, because i feel i've already gotten my money's worth after the first half.

at any rate, if you're a fan of sludge or are getting into it, don't let a couple of downer opinions stop you from checking out one of, if not the most prominent names in what could be considered 'sludge metal/doom'. my favorite EHG songs are strewn across all bodies of their work so if you're looking for a suggestion as to where to start, i suppose 'take as needed for pain', then 'dopesick' or 'confederacy of ruined lives'.

5 out of 5 stars Welcome to the NOLA sludge factory........2003-08-09

This stuff makes me feel dirty just listening to it. As soon as I throw this on I imagine myself waist-deep in Louisiana swamp muck. The riffs are straight out of the Black Sabbath playbook, but they feel different somehow. It's like someone took what Sabbath did, drained the few points of light out of it, and left nothing but the darkness. And the riffs come in wave after wave. Nothing is faster than mid-tempo and when things slow down, it goes REALLY slow. Think molasses. You can actually fall asleep to this stuff if you're not careful.

This is the very epitome of a doom record. It would be the soundtrack if the world was ending. Mike Williams' vocals are definitely on the different side, sounding like the rasps of someone terminally ill. And the feedback from the extreme riffage is enough to make the weak-hearted scurry for cover. You can't just listen to these songs on their own either. The whole album needs to be listened to in order to fully understand what's going on.

I love this stuff, but I would only recommend it to a select few. The hardcore and nu-metal kids won't get it and the death metalheads will think it's too slow, but if you're into bands like Soilent Green, Acid Bath, or Superjoint Ritual then I definitely recommend this. Start with this album, which I consider their best. Also, check out their earlier stuff like Dopesick and their (mostly) live album, 10 Years of Abuse (And Still Broke), too. Gotta love the title of that last one.

5 out of 5 stars all the fury of a 20 day crack and whiskey bend........2002-03-19

this is the most powerful, rage filled, addiction lamenting, and just plain old BURLY album i have ever heard in my whole life.it's like a train running into a logging truck.if you like buzzov-en,grief,sleep,black sabbath, mortician, harmony korine's films(gummo in particular) and/or if you've just plain had a horrible life this is THE album for you.you cannot ignore the dank southernness of this album.the production is PERFECT...thick as a brick.put some headphones on,do what ever you do to avoid the pains of life and come join us in the confederacy of ruined lives.
