Oh man, this is THE metal album! 5 stars all the way. Few may know that 'The Priest that is the Beast" was already pushing , what... seven years of metal already?!? This was the album that finally broke the American membrane, and unleashed them in the West. True die-hards knew of 'British Steel', but for the most part, we only knew of the MTV video of "Another Thing Comin'"
Every song on the album is real... searing... 'Priest' (except for the melodical 'Take These Chains') but listen to it with your metal babe, and I think you won't care to much. Don't worry, they bring it right back with 'Devil's Child' which is one of the greastest 'fillers' I've ever heard.
This album is essential Metal 101 for the collector of the 'Fine Heavy Arts'. Buy it, put it in, and offer your faith to the 'True Metal Gods'.

One life, I'm gonna live it up!.......2007-05-05

...the first words of the incredible, "You've Got Another Thing Coming". Words that everybody can relate to. And, of course, the rest of "Screaming for Vengeance" is just as great. This was one of the first heavy metal CDs I can remember buying, so it makes sense to me at least that I should share with the world my adoration for the classic, the timeless, "Screaming for Vengeance".
Throughout their years, Judas Priest has experimented with progressive metal (which they practically invented with the early classic "Victim of Changes"), speed metal, power metal, NWOBHM, and guitar-synth hair metal (Turbo was virtually as good as Van Halen at their magnum opus!). It's no wonder that with all of this under their belt, and their seniority (KK Downing and Ian Hill founded Priest in '68 or '69), Judas Priest laid the groundwork for countless heavy metal hopefuls to follow. That, and the fact that the first ever dual-lead guitar factor of KK Downing and Glenn Tipton, along with Rob Halford's marvelous vocals (he's up there with Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio as one of the greatest frontmen in heavy metal), these guys are in a class of their own.
Now I will review my favorite tracks of "SFV". The first, four tracks are great enough as it is, and I'll get to that right now.
"The Hellion": A slow yet powerful introduction with a great riff. It has a kind of progressive energy that gets you ready for an excellent rocker.
"Electric Eye": A speedy, epic tune with a great vocal performance by Rob Halford and some blindingly amazing guitar work by KK and Gleen. The quick change at the bridge shows that progressive-styled music played a role in the band.
"Riding on the Wind": Love the energetic drum opening, followed by a fiery and lush guitar riff, along with Rob Halford's unstoppable falsetto wails. More great guitar soloing and this makes for a great cruising tune.
"Bloodstone": Great followup to "Riding on the Wind". The opening guitar riff is very New Wave of British Heavy Metal-styled. After that, the second lead guitar comes in and a funk-metal masterpiece is created. Of course, more soaring guitar soloing and Rob Halford's passionate vocal performance.
"Screaming For Vengeance": Very energetic song, with more soaring falsetto wails and a bit of noticeable progressive styling around the three-minute mark. Ends with a drone that goes into...
"You've Got Another Thing Coming": The single off the album, which makes for a great, driving song. Rob Halford gives a dramatic, vocal performance and the guitar solo is very inspired.

The rest of the songs are great, too, but like I previously stated, it's worth your money even for the first, four songs. I would probably put this as one of the ten greatest heavy metal albums, IMO. The selection is great and if you want an inspired, wonderfully-crafted and energetic heavy metal album, I'm almost certain you're gonna dig this one.

Metal Gods.......2007-04-19

This has to be the defining Judas Preist album and arguably their best, although they would follow this one up with the impressive Defenders of the Faith. You have the widely known rockers like "Electric Eye," "You've Go another Thing Coming," and of course the title track, but all the cuts are impressive. It is Halford at his screaming best and then you have the two greatest Heavy Metal guitar players of all-time, Mr. K.K. Downing and Mr. Glenn Tipton, what more needs to be said about these two legends. If you aspire to be a fan of heavy metal, you must own this CD.

One of the best metal albums EVER.......2007-04-13

Forget all the negative stuff you have ever read about this album . This is the most commercially successful Priest album . 25 + years later it still holds it's own . This album stands , like a sentry , at the gates of metal's golden era . If you like metal , you simply must own this piece of history . There are just too many classic songs on it .

The true definition of 80's metal!!.......2007-03-13

This album captures an era in heavy metal before the genre was broken up into sub genres.This was metal the way it used to be before spandex and eyeliner started ruining everything.This album is fantastic.It's not pantywaist pop metal like Ratt and Poison and it's not hardcore thrash like Metallica and Slayer.It's a great example of early 80's metal.Every song is a winner.You won't find a bad song on here.

I have always considered Screaming For Vengeance to be Judas Priest's best recording and showcases the band at the top of their game.The opening instrumental"The Hellion" will hook you right away and it does'nt let go until the end of the album."Electric Eye" is always an instant classic."You've Got Another Thing Comin" was a huge radio hit.The title track just plain rocks along with "Devil's Child".Another one that stood out was "Fever" because I liked the way it started slow and built up steam."Riding On the Wind" was great because of the famous drum roll at the beginning and "Bloodstone" has those Black Sabbath like evil guitar riffs at the beginning of the song and was my favorite on here.Rob Halford gives his best vocal performance on this album as well.

This album is an enduring classic for all time and has really stood the test of time since its 1982 release.The last great Judas Priest recording at least for a while.No synths,no electric drum kits,no power ballads,just good old fashioned old school traditional heavy metal the way it was intended to be.Every 80's metal fan should own this album.If you don't have it,get it today!!

but i MUST commend priest on their best album. if you have a single musical bone in your body, this album should be standard issue in your music collection. i appreciate many genres and this is a top ten album for me.
what today's tunes are missing that this album can teach:
-soul -rhythm -style -ability to play an instrument and deliver (sing) with conviction and MOST importantly... -ATTITUDE!!!
P.S. if this is your first dose of priest, you may not be affected the first few times of listening but rest assured it will HIT you and knock you flat!

After much pondering, I've decided that Screaming for Vengeance is my favorite Judas Priest album-edging out Stained Class, Defenders of the Faith, and British Steel. This 1982 release is one of their most solid albums and the best tracks on this album are also THE best Priest tracks of all time.

"Hellion/Electric Eye" (the first track being a short instrumental introduction to the second) is classic Priest. "Electric Eye" is my all-time favorite Judas Priest song! The haunting lyrics, the verses that build up to the chorus, the killer guitar solos; I can't write enough about it! "Riding on the Wind" is a catchy rocker. It begins with a furious drum intro by Dave Holland (now in prison for a sexual assault conviction). It bugs me a little because parts of it sound like another Priest song but I can never figure out which. Maybe "Heading Out to the Highway." Still, it is one of the better tracks on Screaming. "Bloodstone" is awesome! It is another favorite of mine. It is a driving rocker and the guitar riffs are unbelievable! "(Take These) Chains" (written by R. Halligan Jr.) is a slower, catchy track. I'm sure a lot of fans find themselves singing the chorus. The line "Take them off of my heart" I've always thought was a little sappy but I like Halford's vocals in the line "I can't sleep at night." "Pain and Pleasure" is a monster track. I don't like it quite as well as the others, but a below average song off Screaming is better than most average tracks elsewhere.

The title track is the most furious song Judas Priest has ever done before or since. It kicks so much butt, words cannot do it justice. The fast and screeching "Freewheel Burning" off Defenders of the Faith has nothing on this track! "You've Got Another Thing Coming" is classic Priest. Next to "Living After Midnight," it is probably their most played single. Unlike "Living...," it is not commercial rock 'n roll, but powerful metal. "Fever" is an interesting track. It is slow in parts and then rocks. It has a beauty to it and is very catchy with excellent guitar at the bridge. "Devil's Child" is another rocker with killer, screeching vocals at the bridge. Screaming for Vengeance is awesome (it also sports the best Priest album cover). If you own only one Judas Priest album, this should be the one!

Screaming For Vengeance (1982.) Judas Priest's eighth album.

In 1982, Judas Priest released their eighth studio album, Screaming For Vengeance. It's amazing that the band had released eight albums before most heavy metal bands had even released their first! But what's even more amazing is that by the time those bands began surfacing, Priest remained on top. Their popularity in the eighties as heavy metal gods was unrivaled. Just about every band out there has one single album that just about every fan says is the best. With Judas Priest, that album is Screaming For Vengeance. Are all those fans who say it's the best album gravely mistaken, or are they dead-on accurate? Read on for my review.

All those fans who say this is Judas Priest's best album are correct. Sure, Stained Class, Defenders Of The Faith, and Painkiller give this one a serious run for its money, but this is the band's all around best. The Hellion/Electric eye kicks the album off. It's classic fast and furious eighties metal as only the metal gods could pull off. Halford's vocals are priceless. Another Priest classic, a little track called Riding On The Wind, can be found on this album. Many fans call this song their favorite Priest song, and why not? It rocks! Pain And Pleasure and Bloodstone are two of the band's most underrated rockers, and it's a shame these two tracks don't get more credit. Many people say the former is the weakest track on the album, but I don't agree with this at all. I think all the tracks on the album are excellent, and not one is weak in any way. The band's biggest hit, an eighties hard rock assault called You Got Another Thing Comin', can be found on this album. This track is severely overrated, but it's a good song worthy of its lofty reputation. The title track is one of the fastest and most furious tracks the band ever recorded. I can't believe one of their title tracks is THIS underrated! My overall favorite song on this album is the power ballad, (Take These) Chains. Many people credit Dokken for giving birth to the power ballad circa 1984, but those people are gravely mistaken. This is a TRUE power ballad - and one of the best ones ever written. The band closes out the album with an ACDC-inspired hard rocker entitled Devil's Child, which rocks hard and rocks right. All in all, one hell of an album!

Like the other Judas Priest remasters, this one contains two bonus tracks. Here you get a rare studio session entitled Prisoner Of Your Eyes, and a live take on Devil's Child. This unreleased studio session, Prisoner Of Your Eyes, is Priest at their slowest and most melodic. This is an amazing song, and it's a shame it never made it onto an actual studio album - until now. Finally, fans can hear this underrated masterpiece. And, of course, there's the live take on Devil's Child. This version of the song is NOT better than the studio one, but it isn't a whole lot worse either. As far as these live bonus tracks on the Priest reissues go, this is one of the better ones.

Screaming For Vengeance is Judas Priest's finest hour. Rob Halford and the boys would never again reach the height of musical creation quality they reached on this album, although there were several times where they would come close (Defenders Of The Faith and Painkiller come to mind.) If you're a fan of classic hard rock and heavy metal, your collection is NOT complete without this album.

This is a great album, no doubt about it. Great riffs n solos, plenty of hooks. Not a single filler track here.

As great as this album is, I can't understand why people say that after it, Priest went downhill. That's simply not true. Defenders Of The Faith is just as good as this album if not better, so is Painkiller...and Ram It Down has plenty of great songs to offer as well.

I'd recommend this to anyone into ACDC all the way to some of the newer metal bands such as Children Of Bodom (who owe a lot to the likes of Priest).

Best track? My favorite is probably Fever.

I got into Judas Priest when I heard their hit song off this album, You've Got Another Thing Comin'. So, since I thought the song rocked, I bought Screaming For Vengeance. I was amazed, to say the least. I instantly loved Judas Priest, I loved the classic rock / metal sound they could make and they just totally rocked. At least every song is great here.

The Hellion - An instrumental intro, that leads into Electric Eye. This sounds so cool, it's pretty slow and is a perfect intro.
Electric Eye - One of the higher points of the album. It's pretty upbeat and has a cool solo in it. This will probably end up being one of your favorite songs on the album.
Riding On The Wind - This songs about at the same pace as Electric Eye. Although it's not as catchy, the guitar solo is amazing.. lots of pinch harmonics.
Bloodstone - This is one of the few songs on the album that is just like, whatever it's rock. It's good but not the best
(Take These) Chains - Pretty much the same deal as Bloodstone. But hey, it's awesome anyway.
Pain And Pleasure - This song is like, really slow and also one of the average songs of the album.
Screaming For Vengeance - You know the title tracks always have to be great. This is no exception. The song is fast, and absolutley rocks. Rob really screams here, and the solo just rips it up.
You've Got Another Thing Comin'- This song is quite possibly Judas Priest's biggest hit ever. It's just unforgettable, and very popular too. The best song on the album.
Fever - This songs actually got some clean parts in it and overall it's pretty good. It's somewhat foreshadowing what the Turbo album would later sound like ...
Devil's Child - Great. I really like the beat in this one and it's just one of those excellent songs. Steady and heavy.

This is a genious idea to put 3 badass CDs in a box set and sell it for a low price. If you don't have any of these CDs and you want them get this.

Triple Threat: The Best For The Buck.......2000-10-13

The three albums this boxset contains are quite possibly the three best that Judas Priest ever put out. Priest has had heavier, and faster albums since, but none can compare to the gestalt they created on these three. British Steel put them on the map with Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight, two instant classics as soon as they were pressed into vinyl. Point Of Entry, though not as commercially successful, is full of lost gems. Solar Angels and Desert Plains were innovative for their time and great driving songs. Screaming For Vengeance made them heavy metal heroes. Every song on that album has been played on hard rock radio stations across the world. I highly recommend getting this, not only does it document the rise of British Heavey metal in the late 70's and early 80's, but these albums are all timeless and can be redicovered by younger metal fans over and over. For [the price] of a cd, this deal can't be beat.

These three albums are HOT! Stepping away from the 70's style metal but not yet into that silly "Turbo" cheese, this is the blueprint for good modern metal. Just remember, if they can't spell it, don't read it!

I thing judas priest was the best Heavy Metal band in the 80 and part of the 90. I belive, some thing, if Roberth Halforth returns to priest again it's gonna be like the old times in my opinion the last two albums theres suck's.

Screaming For Vengeance (1982.) Judas Priest's eighth album.

In 1982, Judas Priest released their eighth studio album, Screaming For Vengeance. It's amazing that the band had released eight albums before most heavy metal bands had even released their first! But what's even more amazing is that by the time those bands began surfacing, Priest remained on top. Their popularity in the eighties as heavy metal gods was unrivaled. Just about every band out there has one single album that just about every fan says is the best. With Judas Priest, that album is Screaming For Vengeance. Are all those fans who say it's the best album gravely mistaken, or are they dead-on accurate? Read on for my review.

All those fans who say this is Judas Priest's best album are correct. Sure, Stained Class, Defenders Of The Faith, and Painkiller give this one a serious run for its money, but this is the band's all around best. The Hellion/Electric eye kicks the album off. It's classic fast and furious eighties metal as only the metal gods could pull off. Halford's vocals are priceless. Another Priest classic, a little track called Riding On The Wind, can be found on this album. Many fans call this song their favorite Priest song, and why not? It rocks! Pain And Pleasure and Bloodstone are two of the band's most underrated rockers, and it's a shame these two tracks don't get more credit. Many people say the former is the weakest track on the album, but I don't agree with this at all. I think all the tracks on the album are excellent, and not one is weak in any way. The band's biggest hit, an eighties hard rock assault called You Got Another Thing Comin', can be found on this album. This track is severely overrated, but it's a good song worthy of its lofty reputation. The title track is one of the fastest and most furious tracks the band ever recorded. I can't believe one of their title tracks is THIS underrated! My overall favorite song on this album is the power ballad, (Take These) Chains. Many people credit Dokken for giving birth to the power ballad circa 1984, but those people are gravely mistaken. This is a TRUE power ballad - and one of the best ones ever written. The band closes out the album with an ACDC-inspired hard rocker entitled Devil's Child, which rocks hard and rocks right. All in all, one hell of an album!

Like the other Judas Priest remasters, this one contains two bonus tracks. Here you get a rare studio session entitled Prisoner Of Your Eyes, and a live take on Devil's Child. This unreleased studio session, Prisoner Of Your Eyes, is Priest at their slowest and most melodic. This is an amazing song, and it's a shame it never made it onto an actual studio album - until now. Finally, fans can hear this underrated masterpiece. And, of course, there's the live take on Devil's Child. This version of the song is NOT better than the studio one, but it isn't a whole lot worse either. As far as these live bonus tracks on the Priest reissues go, this is one of the better ones.

Screaming For Vengeance is Judas Priest's finest hour. Rob Halford and the boys would never again reach the height of musical creation quality they reached on this album, although there were several times where they would come close (Defenders Of The Faith and Painkiller come to mind.) If you're a fan of classic hard rock and heavy metal, your collection is NOT complete without this album.
