Album Description
The life and sounds of the nineties come crashing into those of the fifties in this modern Rockabilly trio. Coming from a state known for it's tie-dyed bands, Colorado's Hillbilly Hellcats tell stories of skateboards and hippies as well as white trash, whiskey and trailer parks. America is listening too, as the Hillbilly Hellcats were the only Colorado band to chart in the College Music Journal's (CMJ) top 100 in 1998.
Rev it up with Taz features Taz Bentley, who does all the drumming on the CD. Taz is known for his 7 year association with the Reverend Horton Heat, including his appearances on the first 3 Rev. Horton Heat CD's.

Neo Rockabilly.......2005-09-13
Some people don't know what "true" rockabilly is. "Rev It Up With Taz" is a taste of true rockabilly. Most songs are right on the money for making you tap your toes, whether you want to or not. There are only three or four that this disc could have done without, but that is strictly my opinion. Overall, it is really hard these days to come up with a CD that has every song rate a 10 and this CD accomplishes that on the majority. If you like to crank it up, this is worth the listen.
Rev it up with Taz.......2005-08-23
I am the bass player for the band, and on the CD's, so I will not rate my own CD,but I would like to let anyone interested know that the song Dead Man's Party is being used in the movie Dead and Breakfast. (Starring David Carradine among others). This movie is now being released in theaters. (August 2005). The movie also has our songs Roadkill Cafe and Hillbillies on Speed in it as well.
You gotta get it.......2005-01-31
I saw this album while looking for some reverend horton heat. I'm glad I did. This is definatly one of my favorite rockabilly bands. The titles alone were enough to make me want it. Chuck Hughes is a great guitarist. He's up there with the Rev, Brian Setzer, Eddie Cochran. The drums are great, The bass is too. This and "Our brand" are both highly recommended by me.

Vixen Returns, Sorta Kinda.......2004-12-27
From www.MaximumMetal.com
It seems as thought EMI wanted to take advantage of the VH1 Program "Bands Reunited" when it thought to re-issue the two albums by the all-girl "Metal" band Vixen. The sophomore effort by the band really was nothing all that special, and simply contained more of the same thing that the band featured on their self-titled release. Granted the girls knew how to play, but it was simply just "nice rock" if you needed a title. This record suffers from sounding a little too much like the manner of music that Heart had been playing for a couple of years so it loses a little based on that. Also when you held them up against the Pat Benatar or Lita Ford's and Joan Jett's, it simply did not cut the mustard.
There are a couple of numbers that do stand out such as "Love Is A Killer" and "Hard 16", yet nothing that is the hit material of the "Edge Of A Broken Heart" which broke some ground for these young ladies. While it was a nice blast from the past to hear them again, I really think only their die-hard followers from way back when would look to pick this up. Maybe to replace a worn out vinyl copy of the same piece. New fans from the show might be best served by a hits piece as I know one is around.
As mentioned, the band was recently featured on the VH1 show, and they got together for one night and performed. The show really only shows one song and not the rest of any music that is played which is a shame since they should really showcase the whole thing for some of these bands might never do this again. I am thinking some bands from the 80's are better left to the fond memories. Vixen - while a rocking group of girls is probably one of those bands. The music sounds too dated after the years.
An All Female Rock band that proves woman can play hard too!.......2004-11-26
If you're not afraid to admit that you LIKE 80's hair metal & hard rock bands like Ratt, Bon Jovi, and Poison then this is an album you will more then appreciate! I have all 3 of Vixen's releases (Vixen, Rev It Up, & Tangerine) on cd and they were all worth whatever it was I paid for them! While their first album was jammed full of your stereotypical 80's party tunes this 2nd release is a little more edgey! Don't get me wrong there are still catchy songs like Not A Minute Too Soon & Bad Reputation, but songs like Love Is A Killer & Fallen Hero make this album much more enjoyable.
The culmination of all that was great about 80's rock........1999-05-20
Vixen's second album is the strongest "second album" ever released by an 80's rock band. The guitar work is first rate, the bass and drums fit perfectly, and the vocals are astonishing. Rev It Up has remained one of my favorites over the last decade and will continue as such. Whether you're driving, catching some rays, or anything in between, nothing will keep your blood pumping like Rev It Up. Thanks to Vixen for a timeless rock album!
Vixen's powerful follow up.......1998-11-12
I think with the first record Vixen was trying to break into a male controled metal field. With this second album they break even more ground. Start to finish this album rocks hard and fast. Songs like "Rev It Up," "Streets In Paradise" and "How Much Love" are all personal favorites.

I've been looing for Car tunes for two years. It's great for car shows!
Cool Tunes.......2003-12-31
My 6 year old loves listening to the oldies with his Pap so, when he got this for Christmas, he loved it. He cranks it up and plays with his hot rod cars. And the cover makes it that much more cool.
SS-396!!.......2002-05-31
Fantastic Collection of fun, grooving music. SS-396 alone makes it worth it! Great fun! Buy it!!
Great Nostalgia.......2001-07-01
Music to the ears of an old gearhead in his fifties. I remember these songs when they first came out. Fun stuff.
Hot Rod -- Rev It Up.......2000-06-12
This album is for us who remember the days of muscle cars, drag racing and cruising on Friday and Saturday nights. Many of the songs on this album were commissioned by the Big-3 Automakers to be made by famous rock groups. In fact, many of these groups performed at local car dealerships when the new year cars were previewed in September or October of each year. SS-396 by Paul Revere and the Raiders was song for that famous Chevrolet engine placed in the 1966 Chevelle Super Sport as well as the 1967 Camaro. The 409 cubic inch engine was brought out in 1962 - 1963. So, come on back to a time of cruising and dreaming about your ideal muscle car. Set back, listen to the roar and smell the smoking "red-line" tires as they come off the line down a deserted stretch of road.

Incredible musical compilation.......2005-08-22
This album is not only packed with lyrics that many of us can identify with, but it bears the mark of excellence that until now could only be found among such artists as Bob Dylan and The Band.
A Must-Own CD.......2004-09-10
East of Autumn is one of the most talented bands today. Since the first time I listen to this CD, I knew this band was going to be big. This CD is worth every cent and is absolutely essential to any music lovers collection. Time spent listening to this CD will not be wasted. I'm looking forward to future work done by this group of talented individuals.
Get in on the ground floor of amazing rock!.......2004-07-09
I have seen East of Autumn on a couple of occasions when in the Boston area, and I can't wait until they hit the Midwest. They rock out in a live show and the CD conveys this as best a CD can. The lead singer Chris writes thoughtful, strong lyrics and cranks out tunes that unfortunately get looked over for tinny, poppy tunes that are flooding the airwaves. Be the first on your block to listen to East of Autumn, and buy extra CDs and give them to your friends - they will thank you for it!
Fresh music you can finally listen to!.......2004-06-05
A friend of mine in Boston told me about this band-comparing it to "Counting Crows"-only better. The music and lyrics are so fresh, nothing like the "junk-pop" that's getting churned out today. Some of the songs are pretty funny-these guys definately have a sense of humor. My favorite song, "You're a Peach" reminds me of some bars I've been in, and the track "Friends" with it's upbeat music and satirical undertones flashes back on one-too-many relationships gone bad. What is also different about this band is that the entire CD is listenable-I haven't found myself skipping around-this CD has a lot of personality. Hopefully the word gets out about this band. I would love to be able to turn on the radio and hear something new for a change. Buy this CD now, and...tell all your friends!
Finally getting the press they deserve.......2004-04-27
I have seen this band live 3-4 times over the last 5 years. recently I understood they had a record deal, now the CD is finally here and I just LOVE it. They have a great lyric, that you can understand. The track Friends is by far the best on the whole CD, but they are all great. I plan on seeing them again soon in May, as it has been over a year since I saw them perform. It is just plain good music, good value and above all they love to play.
