Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Still heavy, but moving away from doom.......2005-07-21

Left Hand Solution's third release, Light Shines Black, begins a departure from the classic doom sound of their first two releases, Shadowdance and Fevered, both of which were more akin to, say, Solitude Aeturnus with a female vocalist. Light Shines Black, however, has a more accessible feel to it. Make no mistake, this isn't rock-n-roll. The guitars are still downtuned and ultra-heavy, but the riffing is more upbeat and catchy, comparable on both counts to Ethereal Mirror-era Cathedral, moreso than the early LHP material. Add some Mandylion-era The Gathering to that Cathedral influence and you have a fairly good grasp of what LHP was after with Light Shines Black. With the exception of an unfortunate and inexplicable Eurythimics cover, the rest of the songs on this disc will have you either tapping your feet or banging your head with glee.

4 out of 5 stars its good.......2002-05-01

i liked this bands other stuff...this proves to be just as interesting...diffrent than fevered...faster...the singer is hot...the title track is killer... the eurithmics cover is a little chezzy but still cool in its own way...Id recomend this band to fans of female vocals other than that ...listen first
