Very good, very diverse rock from a talented band..........2007-04-22

I remember getting this album when it first came out; I, like many others, liked the single Love Is On The Way and went out and bought it. I was pleasantly surprised when I listened and heard some great and very diverse music. As I remember, Saigon Kick was often put in with the "alternative" bands at that time. While having music that can range from dark to light, heavy to soft - the album is pure rock. Matt Kramer is a very good singer, Jason Bieler is an overlooked guitarist and fine singer in his own right and Tom DeFile(bass) and Phil Varone(drums) provide a solid, sometimes spectacular, bottom end.

Song Highlights include: Feel The Same Way, God Of 42nd Street, Love Is On The Way, All I Want, Body Bags and Miss Jones.

The Lizard delivers great songs with varying styles, and great musicianship. If you like rock that is not "processed" or "cookie cutter", you should like this album.

Possibly Helpful Update.......2007-03-31

To the reviewer who loved this band and wanted new music from them: I know some of the remaining members (although, sorry I don't know which ones) are members of a band called "SuperTransAtlantic". They had some moderate success and even have a track on the original "American Pie" soundtrack.

Let the Music do the talkin..........2006-07-01

Saigon Kick's music on all their cd releases speak for themselves. I won't even take time to put in many words. These guys went (for the most part) unoticed outside of their ballad 'Love is on the Way." They give to you with passion, true muscianship, and with enough Metal riffs to keep you wanting more!

Buy all their cd's and make a true METAL JUDGMENT.

I first heard Saigon Kick in college. A friend had 'Water' on tape, and we used to play it on his walkman hooked to a thump-twice-and-pray-it-works amp. We went and bought 'The Lizard' a month later, and still swear by it.
The tracks on this album range from the radio-friendly 'All I Want' to the denizen-of-the-moshpit 'Body Bags'. There are tracks that seeth with fury (check Hostile Youth), and then there are tracks that you can play at home without the fear of your parents threatening to disown you.

It's sad to know the band hasn't received the acclaim that is rightfully theirs. Go ahead and buy your copy. Trust me, 'The Lizard' is worth the money you spend on it.

Saigon Kick - 'The Lizard' (Atlantic).......2005-03-12

When I first heard of this band and saw their first video debut on MTV,I didn't think all that much of them.After a couple of months when I seemed to have heard more about them,Saigon Kick really peaked my interest.Best described as commercial hard rock,without being a bit wimpy.Great playing,catchy melodies and good indepth grooves to be found here,their second effort.Guitarist Jason Bieler produced the CD.Choice cuts are "Freedom","All Right","All I Want","Body Bags" and their two radio friendly gems "Peppermint Tribe" and "Love Is On The Way".I also liked the follow-up to this disc,'Water'(see my review).Worth hunting down a copy.

SAIGON KICK AT THEIR BEST!!.......2005-12-12

This album should have been big. This is one of my favorite albums put out by any band. The production is great,the harmonies are great,and each song holds it's own. There is no filler here. Their cover of David Bowies classic "Space Oddity" is probably the best cover song I have heard. They had a single with "I Love You" that should have been a bigger hit but with bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana being the "in thing" they didn't have much of a chance. Saigon Kick really have their own sound and are hard to lump in a category of music. Lots of rock/progressive rock/harmonies and a classical touch all together in the sound. Nothing wrong with that.

You will like this album if you like hard rock with harmonies,ballads that have thought out,meaningful lyrics,not just something thrown together to make a hit. Every now and then a band comes along that has a unique sound with poetic-like lyrics and music that flows in a perfect way. This is that band and their best album in my opinion. A top 10 in my collection and should be in yours.

Have to admit 'Water' is a pretty decent follow up to their 'The Lizard' CD.However,as I look at the liner notes,I see there's been a major change in the line-up.Vocalist Matt Kramer has left the band,so the vocals on 'Water' are being provided by guitarist Jason Bieler.When I first listened to this disc,I honestly couldn't tell the difference.That,of course is a good thing.With cuts like "One Step Closer",the title track "Water","Torture" and "Sgt.Steve",it SOUNDS as if Kramer is still there.Also dug their David Bowie cover of "Space Oddity".I'm glad I saw Saigon Kick I believe twice while Kramer was still with them.Check it out.

I bought it to replace my lost CD. I loved it from the beginning, and surprise that hard to find it again in the market.
This is their greatest album, I may say. "Field of rape','(david bowie) space oddity','I love you','On and On' still thrill me... Jason is awesome.

The Brillance of Unrecognized Stars.......2003-02-11

Transformation and the ability to incorporate newly-evolving trends into the personality of your works are two of the ways that many a band stays ahead of the "learning curb" of mainstreamed mentality. Unfortunately, this oftentimes dooms them as it dooms many forms of prospective genius, making their flavors too rich to be desired by minds ingesting only what they seem to be force-fed. Still, that's what I find enjoyable about music and the concepts it brings because some groups, no matter their desire to succeed, music place their creations above the tempos of immediate success. This seems to be the case with Saigon Kick and its need to evolve through the methods it wishes to adopt, sometimes taking the ideals that it was forged on, those birthed with a heavier mentality, and adding other, more electronic mediums into the mix as well. Unfortunately, with every great act there are forms of tragedy as well, and Water signaled the transformation of a two-singer outlet into a machine powered by a solo frontman. Still, great things continue to march on and this oddity, producing four quality albums in its time behind the musical pulpit, did just that.

Within Water, as is the case with so many other wondrous works produced by Saigon Kick, there are flavors touching on all fronts, lending themselves to the good, the bad, and the most delectably dark sides of the human condition. These are accented by an odd blend of sometimes heavy, sometimes almost ballad-like vocals that are accompanied by a mix of equally shifting meshes of instrumentation. There are many flares of the Saigon Kick creativity here, too, working well off of grounds that combine love and the threats of drowning within it into "Water," the strangeness of an insane mind and its inner-workings in "Sgt. Steve," the mindset of love, adoration, and infatuation that never dies in "The Way," the almost happily-tempoed love turned murder tale captured in "Sentimental Girl," and the extremities worth enduring because of a heartfelt connection in "Close to You." There are other pieces here as well, like the cover of Bowie's "Space Oddity," adding a few other flavors to the fold and finishing it off quite nicely.

To say that Water is a work worth listening to is an understatement because it contains so many positive conditions within its confines. The acts of love, death, murder, loving and obsession all come with hard-to-capture coatings, and finding a way to grasp all of those at one time is harder still. So, when someone manages to do so, the overwhelming results are highly recommendable - along with the other albums they manufactured as well.

Still brilliant despite loss of Kramer and Defile........2001-12-28

Even though I'm a big fan of the 1st 2 albums, it took the losses of Tom Defile and lead singer Matt Kramer to force Jason Beiler to take control of the band, and display his full musical genius! "Water" is one of the most original albums I've ever heard. It rocks!(one step closer, torture)has some beautiful melodic songs(I love you)and even a Fixx-like song(on and on)I love this cd! This cd takes you on such a different range of emotions it's hard to describe. Just get it! Why they were dropped by Atlantic(third stone records)after this release is the crime of the century!

A Must Have Album.......2006-02-05

There are albums that are popular & fall into the must have category. But, this album was never popular but is essential listening for any fan of harmony's and bombastic grooves. Saigon Kick's debut album is by one of the best albums off all-time. The first single/video was "What You Say" an excellent track that was just as much pop as rock. Lyrically the song is upbeat & positive with a sing-a-long chorus tailor made for 20,000 seat stadiums filled to the rafters. As the album progresses so do the different styles. That is one thing the band did well was change styles like a chamelion. "Colours" is another wonderful song with strong vocal harmonies & a brilliant chorus. Phil Varone's superb drumming holds this album together from track 1 to 14. He's just as much a part of the musical landscape as the vocals & Guitars. His playing is not typical of the era or genre. He's always doing something interesting or tasteful but never oversteps his presence. He's quite amazing as drummers go with his skillful playing. Saigon Kick was a band 10 years or better ahead of their time. If they were to release this album in 2006 they would be taking the world by storm. "Down By The Ocean" takes a pure pop song but toughens it up with blazing guitars. The bass line is excellent and proves that this band really knows what the hell they are doing. "For The Love Of God" is a top 10 modern rock hit today. It has all the trappings of what is good about that genre. Again I have to mention Jason & Matt's phenominal harmonies. Now my personal favorite track is the brilliant (did I say brilliant?) song "My Life". Catchy as hell verse's with a gigantic chorus. A good batch of lyrics along with the best lead kazoo solo of all-time! Yes I said Kazoo! This album is an undeninable success. The songs all work in one way or another. This is the start of what was for a few years a run of excellent albums. If you like this album your only gonna like the next three even more.

GREAT DEBUT ALBUM.......2006-01-18

Saigon Kick's debut album may be out of print but is well worth finding. I will put this along with their underated album 'Water' as being one of the best rock releases to ever come out. The music is diverse and does not get stale for a moment. You have the great opening song "New World" that would be a great one to start a concert with it's slow building up going into great harmonies,guitar and drums getting heavier as the song goes on. Of course the single "What You Say" is classic Saigon Kick all the way with a catchy layered chorus intro. I won't get into all the songs but will say that in my opinion some of the best stuff they have is unreleased songs.

Overall a great debut album by a band that deserved to have more attention. Bands like this have a good fan base that seems to think on it's own and realize that some of the best bands around don't get radio play. Just ask EnuffZNuff, another band that has put out some of their best albums in the last few years. Anyway, this album is sure to please those who like great harmonies,loud guitar, drums and great songwritting.

Great!.......2003-04-20

Saigon Kick's debut album is in my opinion a classic. A debut this good should have put the band at the top. Other reviews have said the same-why didn't Saigon Kick go on to be big? Other's seem to miss the obvious, they never made another great album. The Lizard was half a great album, Water was 2 songs a great album and so on.... I loved this album when I first heard it, it just rocks, still listen to it all these years later. I bought the following albums hoping that it might be as good as... but always came away disappointed. I recently bought Matt Kramer's (original vocalist) debut solo, while not as good as this, it is better that any Saigon Kick album after. Check out Matt's album, you may be very suprised!

MultiTasking and Emotions.......2003-03-04

When Saigon Kick was originally introduced to me, I mistakenly placed them in the ranks of other acts that thrived within the 80s/90s rock scene. This was because I heard a small sampling, tasting only "Month of Sundays" before buying it, and forget about the release for a few weeks before falling into a listening habit that I haven't been able to kick for years. The reason for that is because of the versatility - a word that should be incorporated into more than power drills and kitchen appliances as a descriptive tool - of the band and the talent of the two singers involved. Within the ranks of their works is a little bit of everything, from the angst and rage felt by legions of walking through their mundane lives to the heartfelt adoration that seeing someone close to you so often brings about. It is these lilies of the field they've planted throughout albums I would highly recommend (The Lizard, Water, Devil in the details) that keep me listening, something they showcase in even this, their earliest work.

As I said before, I was introduced to the more driven sounds of "Ugly" and "Month of Sundays" and mistakenly thought that this self-titled release would be something along the heavier vein of music traversing the times. Still, after buying the release and inspecting it as a whole, I found that this was far from the case and that my first impressions of the album had been a bit too hasty. The variety of flavors, ranging from motions on the emotive factors of love and devotion to the stellar clashes within one's self on the ideology of hatred and revenge, all circle through this releases on many levels, letting its listener know the joys of kazoo solos that mingle hand-in-hand with the hardest hitting tempos of guitars. This births an album that holds many interesting notions that defied the musical atmosphere of the time, from the mockingly bitter "What do you Do?" to the notions of love professed in "Colors."

For people wanting a variety that encompasses the word rock and still manages to go beyond that as well, Saigon Kick is a good album to pick up and the band itself is a giant step in an interesting direction. They have an interesting take on many a subject, professing their interests in the darker sides of the exotic rainbow as well as the deeper sides of love and devotion, leaving many to wonder exactly what, if anything, their all-encompassing hands don't touch on. Its a highly recommended dose of musical savvy for whatever ails you!

The most original band ever that never got credit.......2002-04-08

I am the owner of over 1,600 CD's, and this debut is one of the jewels of my collection. I've been into metal/hard rock for 21 years now, and I have yet to be more awe-struck than the first time I heard this album. From the hypnotic tribal intro of "New World", to the Kings' X like harmonies in "Colors" and "Love of God", to the absolute gut busting riffs in my personal favorite "I.C.U." there is just non stop magic. They are one of my favorite bands even now that they have split up. Jason Bieler is the most gifted songwriter in the buisness and it's obvious here. It's a shame they never broke big onto the scene. Check out the rest of thier albums too, they are all worth it. Trust me.

A 3.9 From the Russian Judge.......2007-06-05

Yes, Matt has left the building. He was a large presence of Saigon so should the wailing begin? Well, listen to this album a couple of times (as George Michael would say) without prejudice, and realize that although the ingredients are different, it's still a delectable pastry.

Matt was/is fantastic, but should that be the end? If so, apply that same passionate thought to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Thin Lizzy, The Church... heck, even Van Halen.

What the boys pull off is something a bit different from the pack, and thank goodness for that. Pete 2nd guitar is another axe in the shield wall and Jason's voice is compelling and also fitting.

For potential shoppers. this album loses a bit of the steam and punch that surrounded the first two albums, but it gains a sort of majestic and elevated touch. Like Love/ Hate and Devin Townsend, Saigon Kick dared to make music that skewed the formula. Water is an album that is marked by high peaks and a couple of valleys (not too low, mind you). Devil in the Details plants it's flag off the peak, yet only a half-day's hike away. Much further down the mountain, you'll find most of the offerings from the 90's. Partake and be glad.

The Most Underated Band of All Time!.......2004-04-01

Saigon Kick is one of my favorite bands of all time.
My only regret is that Matt Kramer is no longer with the band.
"Devil in the Details" is the slightly better of the two "Kramer-less" CDs. (The other CD being "Water")
If you have never heard this band, I strongly suggest you give them a listen...........

Bring back the REAL Saigon Kick.......2003-09-16

This band has written and played nothing but soft, poppy, fruity rubbish since the great Matt Kramer left. Think of a group trying to be like the Beatles, except they lack the skill and imagination, so they sound more like Nelson. It's STILL worse than you're thinking.

The best thing on Water was the cover of the Bowie song, "Space Oddity." Shouldn't that have told us something? And now we have Devil in the Details, an album that tries really hard to get the radio play that will always elude it -- not because musical merit has anything to do with airplay, but rather because these guys don't have the money or label backing to promote or bribe themselves onto playlists. It's just as well -- the Backstreet Boys fill the niche that Saigon Kick's attempting.

Avoid this band until Matt Kramer comes back. If he never does, get the first two albums and revel in the true brilliance that this band once represented.

To Everything, A Winter's Sadness.......2003-02-11

Working my way through the evolutions of Saigon kick since the inception of their self-titled debut, I've found myself transfixed with what they could produce and therefore a loyal listener. Its always amazed me how they could dance both sides of the sensation rainbow, melding the beauty of both the light sides of life and love with the bleak sounds of demise and murder into something without losing anything in this musical translation. On one hand they would craft something so lovingly endearing that it bordered on the prolifics of heartfelt expression and on the other they would meld something into existence dipping with the realms of oddity and angst. That's why I've always been impressed while walking in their always transfixing footsteps, though, because the many faces of the Saigon Kick machine have always been interesting to watch modify and grow.

Within Devil in the Details, there are many flavors to keep the mind entertained as all of the realms the needy listener is normally accustomed to hearing are displayed. There is a poetic beginning in the small introduction exclaiming, "I believe there is no sun today, I believe there is no sun. Miles from where I live today, I can see no sun," that then drifts into a love song that combines a beat into its ballad about a certain "Russian Girl" and the proposition of staying with the singer. Still, there is more as well, from the very beautiful, almost hauntingly sad "Spanish Rain" and the likewise saddened beats and depressive make-up of "Going On" to the violence and murder floating in the swing sounds of "Victoria" and the up/down teetering in the song about suicide, "Edgar." Also dwelling in the album more punkish sounds of "All Around," the two lover's embracing death together spectrum of "flesh of Bone," and the testimonials about feelings seething within "killing Grounds."

Everything in this album comes together so well, making me glad I have a copy of it and always pulling it out to listen to even years after its release. Its rare that one finds a band that can keep the attention as well as Saigon Kick knows how to do, and rarer still to find someone that knows how to place four albums into circulation that all work at a level worthy of praise. Therefore, I recommend this album and all the other sounds of Saigon Kick to anyone wanting something with staying power and a little bit of everything. Its simply sad that, like all seasons, winter seems to have come and no more releases have followed in suite.

Saigon Kick is a basically unknown band who is one of the best to ever come along. This is their best disc and one listen and you WILL be hooked on this thing. The sound is so unique and different than most metal bands today. GET IT

Actually the 2 additional tracks are called "Sky is Falling" and "The One" The first is a pissed off rocker and the latter is arguably thier best ballad. Not sure if the extra $$$ is worth it to you, but if you are a die-hard...it is.

Underrated is an understatement.......2005-10-07

Now, let me start by saying that I do not own this album, however, I do own all of the studio releases, and there are no 'unreleased' songs on here, so I've heard them all. Saigon kick is an extremely underrated band. The reason I only give this album a 4 our of 5 is because there are some huge omissions for an album titled the 'best of'. I was really shocked that the song 'Still the One' was not put on this album. It was never released on any of the studio albums, and it is certainly one of their best (and possibly their last recorded song). Some other tracks that should have made it are 'Meet Your Maker' and 'Jehovah' (from the import album Bastards); 'Dizzy's Vine' (the last song recorded with original singer Matt Kramer), 'Spot Him A Beer' and 'You and I' (from Moments From the Fringe ); 'Sunshine' and 'Afraid' (from Devil in the Details); 'When You Were Mine' (from Water); 'Feel the Same Way', 'Freedom', and 'All Alright' (from The Lizard); and finally, 'My Life' (which includes a kazoo harmony) and 'Love Of God' (from Saigon Kick).

I've been following Saigon Kick's music since I heard 'Love Is On The Way', as well as Jason Bieler's music in general. I think it is a disgrace that the band is known most widely as "that 80's hair band that did 'Love Is On The Way'", especially since none of their albums were released before 1991, with the last studio release 'Bastards' coming out in 1999. There was so much more to the band than that one song, even though I admit that was the song that made me go out and buy 'The Lizard' album.

I was a little shocked when 'Water' was released and Matt Kramer had left the band. The way he and Jason harmonized together was amazing. As I told someone when discussing the band in the early days, "Power chords and harmony, who knew they could sound THAT good together?". They put on a good show, too. I saw them open for Extreme and was impressed with the live sound.

Jason did a great job taking over for Matt on vocals, and the music changed a bit, I think more to Jason's style. Now, I think he is an extremely talented musician and songwriter (and is apparently doing pretty well producing albums with his brother), but from what I've read about him and given the progression of the band and different members, I think he's probably a control freak and difficult to make music with. But, when it comes to the music, I really don't care...except that maybe if he hadn't been, he'd still be making music. He released a solo album after Saigon Kick that, had it gotten any air time, no doubt would have gone platinum. If you're a real Saigon Kick fan, you need to find a way to get this album. The name of the album is 'Houston, We Have a Problem' (yeah, about as overrused as "you had me at...") by, simply, Jason. Amazingly, I can't even find a reference to this album online anywhere, so good luck finding it. You may be relegated to finding his songs to download. I also have a host of unreleasead Saigon Kick and Jason songs that I downloaded from a website dedicated to and, I believe, partially run by Jason (the site no longer exists...sigh). If you're familiar with 'Super Transatlantic', Jason was also a member of that short-lived band.

So, all this to say, if you like Saigon Kick and don't want to shell out the money to buy all of their albums, I definitely recommend this one to give you a good and very ejoyable, albeit small, sampling of what they were capable of.

Saigon Kick Where Have You Gone ?.......2003-07-16

With a band that could rock your butt off and then give you some of the most heartfelt ballads and then add some synth, they always kept you wondering. To the press and the critics the acoustic love song 'Love Is On The Way' will forever define the band. This is sad bacause Saigon Kick fans know that there was far more to the band than that song. This cd takes the music of a glorious career and gives you a sample of everything the band had to offer. Jason Bieler is one of the greatest musicians of the modern era. His guitar solors are blistering and the riff to the harder songs make you stand up and take notice that you are listening to something truly special. Matt Kramer (while in the band) had a vocal presence that many vocalists only dream of. Even when he left the band and Bieler took over vocals, he proved a worthy replacement.
The rock ballads 'Love Is On The Way', All I Want Is You', 'Colors' and 'I Love You', carry you away to a different world (which is exactly what a ballad is supposed to do). Tracks like 'Hostile Youth', 'The Lizard' and 'One Step Closer' rock you hard and demand your attention. 'Water' throws a total curve ball at you and almost has a Prince vibe to it. The newest track not on the band's other discs 'Hey! Hey! Hey!, is a fun fist pounding rock anthem (do you remember when rock was still fun?). This album spans the carrer of one of the greatest musical and lyrical bands to have come around in a long time. The purchase of this disc will only leave you wanting more Kick. So fill your collection by buying "Saigon Kick", "The Lizard", "Water" and "Devil In The Details". There are a pair of imports out there as well.
I will leave you with this note. If you want a record that you can play over and over again, this is your band. If you want the same boring every song sounds the same disc, then go buy one of todays rock artists. Saigon Kick is one of the greatest bands to have come and gone. So purchase and enjoy!!![.]

Spanning the Wonder Years.......2003-02-11

Here's a great sampling from a rather forgotten blast from the musical past, Saigon Kick. Its a shame that this happens, too, because I would state that all of Saigon Kick's albums and the stages they went through, from their somewhat heavier/somewhat more controversially beloved beginnings to their last release that combined electronics and their wonderful vocal usages, are interesting notations. Still, many fans found Water and Devil in the Details betrayals of what they liked most about SK, not to mention the fact that the two lead influence collapsed back into the one-man singer sea.

The new addition on this album, "Hey,Hey,Hey," is not one of my favorite pieces that the band has released into circulation, making me a little annoyed at the product in some ways. It really isn't reflectant of the band and their abilities at all. Still, the range of influences, coming from Saigon Kick, The Lizard, Water, and Devil in the Details are well arranged and are a nice selection to make a "best of" out of. The only thing I would have left out of it would have been the live songs, because I'm not really a fan of the live songs, and the additions I would have added would have been those that echo a little more depravity in the works, including "Sentimental Girl" (Water), "My Dog" (The Lizard), "Peppermint Tribe" (Water), and "Month of Sundays" (Saigon Kick). Any of those would have shown more of the oddity that the band can add to their songs, which is echoed somewhat in the lyrical innerworkings of "coming Home" (placed, if anyone's interested, in the rather funny to watch "Stone Cold, " featuring Brain Bosworth as an "actor" instead of a "football player") and the "Lizard," the angst within "hostile Youth," and the things someone would be willing to do for love in "Close to you."

For anyone interested in a multiply faceted approach to the layers of Saigon Kickology 101, this works pretty well. Still, if you are someone with the flavors already in the collection, you might want to bypass this stepping stone altogether and relive the dementia of the bands wonder years with your already wondrous collection. As a band, most highly recommended!

Great CD, although I recommend buying the first two SK cd's instead of the Greatest Hits, you'll get more good songs and will love them both. Matt Kramer and Phil Varone ARE this band...making The Lizard and self-titled CD's the best put out so far. So pick up those two. Also, Saigon Kick is currently on tour with original bassist Tom Defile, and new guitarist Jeff Blando (Slaughter), so go check em out!

Anyone who is a SK fan must own this, and if you're not and want to broaden your listening taste, you will not be dissapointed!

If you like Saigon Kick and get the chance...buy this disc...

What you are getting are the raw tapes that were the beginning of their hit songs, and of course funny tracks that never made it on to a record...

I was lucky...I got this cd, and Jason's solo disc "Houston we Have a Problem" from the record label...which had a link to the old Saigon Kick and SuperTransatlantic websites...

This disc has 18 tracks...9 of which are groundworks for songs that made it on to vinyl, the others are fun songs that Jason kept in his tape vault. Also on the disc are comments made by Jason on each of the tracks...

I got this disc after the break-up and before SuperTransatlantic...but listening to it just makes you want to have the Tribe back together and rocking again...

best "vault" cd of all time.......2001-06-27

this cd was one of their best works yet. made up of mostly demos we the fans got to hear the raw, fresh sound of the songs that would end up having an affect on the music indusrty. the style ranging from rock to an up tempoed beat make this cd worth your money. also the 8 unreleased tracks are very ear catching and with the mix of matt and jason's voices will give you an evening filled with tremendous sounds and melodies

Never even knew this band had a live CD out,until now.Either way,this release could've been so much better.Twelve tracks,that were recorded live anywhere from 1991-96 in cities such as New York,Flint,St.Louis and Houston.Sort of narrows it down,doesn't it?One good thing about this CD is that EVERY song comes from a different gig,but the quality sounds virtually the same.Don't you hate it when you get a live CD from one of your all-time favorites and several of the cuts sound SO obvious they're from another gig?Saigon Kick brings to you,an 'okay' live document of their music career and some MAY say it's similar to that of a bootleg.Most of the cuts here are from their self-titled debut('88) and the 'Water'('93)efforts.They SHOULD'VE stuck at least a couple of songs from their 'The Lizard'('92)disc.Tracks that make me want to hang onto my copy for at least awhile are "ICU","Coming Home","Suzy","The V Train",their signature work "What You Say" and their cover of the Sex Pistol's "Bodies".A so-so heavy rock title.

I am a HUGE Saigon Kick fan...have all their cd's, even the hard-to-find "Jason" solo cd....BUT...

This was quite the disappointment! I had to take a double look at the cover and credits to be sure an illegal bootleg didn't make it's way onto my record store's shelves. The sound quality is that bad. I really can't beleive the band actually could have given their stamp of approval to get this released. Sorry.

Okay, I've got to say it. . . PHIL VARONE ROCKS!!! The CD was worth it just to hear the way that man beats the skins live. The sound quality wasn't the greatest, but I've heard worse. If you love Phil's playing as much as I do, the CD is worth it!

Greatest hits live???....With songs such as "My Dog"..The V-Train(drum solo)..."bodies"...and ICU, you can't very well call this cd a Greatest hits live! It lacks imagination in everyway! The track listing alone should tell you that. What happened to songs like "Russian Girl"...."Eden".... and "One Step Closer"??? In my opinion, the only thing worth listening to on this cd is "Water"..."Fields of Rape" and The Way.

The sound quality is over all pretty poor for a live cd. If your a hardcore Saigon kick fan like myself, pick up the cd to add to your collection. If not, Don't waste your money! (you could have done better Phil)
