Pure Metal.......2006-10-03
There were a lot of so-called metal bands focusing on style over substance in 1986. Taking the lipstick and spandex route may have been the quickest way to MTV airplay and Metal Edge pinups, but New Jersey band T.T. Quick was having none of that. They instead came out of the gate with a hard-hitting metal sound similar to bands like WASP, Metal Church, and Lizzy Borden, with an obvious love for Motorhead and AC/DC. Metal of Honor (great title) was the band's first full-length album, and featured 8 blazing rock tracks, one ill-advised attempt at a power ballad, and a cover of the 60's pop classic Glad All Over, which was originally recorded by the Dave Clark Five of all bands! That one is going in my iPod's "Oddball Cover Songs" playlist for sure!
Oddly enough, considering the album was released by Megaforce, Metal of Honor is still readily available. If you're in the mood for some ballsy, kick in the teeth heavy metal, then Metal of Honor has your name all over it!
Rips and Snorts.......2003-12-26
If you like catchy metal guitar and gut wrenching vocals then don't pass this up if you see it in the cut-out bin.
Dave DiPietro plays some nice hooky solos. In the dime a dozen
late 80's metal scene, he was one guitarist that caught my attention.
The only "filler" is the tune "Glad all Over" which seems out of place. It must have been a record execs idea because I can't understand why the band would redo this tune.
I recall a Metal of Honor review on Metal-Sludge that stated:
"This is the kind of CD you put on at a party if you want all the chicks to leave."
I couldn't agree more.
heavy metal.......2003-09-08
TT QUICK IS A CLASSIC EIGHTIES ROCK BAND WITH GREAT LICKS AND VOCALS
THEY WHERE AROUND WITH OVERKILL AND RAVEN PLAYING AT LAMOURS
Classic metal.......2002-02-26
Oh yeah, these guys could rock! Saw them in a small club in Brooklyn back in the day, and I was blown away. Straight ahead heavy metal; Metal Of Honor, Front Burner, Hard As A Rock, Asleep At The Wheel, Come Beat the Band, classics all. Great guitar, the drummer had this little 7 piece kit, but could do alot with it. Not a bad song on it.
A Good Debut But Their Last.......1999-10-23
This album showed TT Quick had great talent and potential. After hearing their EP back in the early 80's, this was a must have and a good debut album. I would have liked to have seen the EP on here as well with the legendary "Metal Man" and their cover of "Fortunate Son". It was a classic!

Excellent, though different. .......2006-07-24
I was first introduced to With Honor with "Heart Means Everything", an incredible album. I immediately fell in love with their fact paced style, anthem chants and amazing lyrics. Songs like "Perfect Stance", "With the Wind", "More than Heroes" and "Rethink, Return" are among some of my favorite songs. When I first listened to "This Is Our Revenge", I was somewhat dissapointed. I was not a fan of the new, more melodic lyrics and I put the album down. Recently, I picked it up again and actually listened through the entire album and was pleasantly surprised. I actually grew to love the album, despite the different vocals. Songs like "Elevens", "Closets", and "You Always Said" really brought me back to "Heart Means Everything". While the lyrics have changed alot and Todd is actually singing now, he makes it work with the music. WHile the album is definitely a change from their first full-length, it is still extremely similar and definitely deserves to be listened to. The lyrics still have alot of heart, which is what really stood out to me on "Heart Means Everything", and Todd's newer style definitely works. Unfortunately, with Todd leaving the band, it takes alot away from their style, but if you're looking for something different and new from "Heart Means Everything", definitely pick this one up.
This is Mic's Revenge!.......2006-07-18
Dood, so I might have had my doubts, but this owns, I can't really see them changing thier sound (to be more mainstream, what a laugh! Yeah With Honor is going to the biggest band ever!) all that much. I guess you part time edge kids just can't handle a band that takes away a few sing alongs and mosh parts with thier new album, boo hoo! Anyways, this is a great melodic hardcore album, honestly it doesn't sound watered down at all, I hear Good Riddance, some Rise Against and such but at thier hardest. Oddly enough the first song reminds me of Propaghandi (his voice kinda sounds like Hannah fool!) but I digress. This is good my friend, your mosh pit friends with thier lame-o army hats (what the hell are those called?) might not agree, but they only buy cd's to practice thier mosh moves to anyways, this is for kids like you and I who enjoy music (on a higher plan brotha!)!
upsetting.......2006-06-03
well considering how incredibly awesome with honor used to be this album made me want to cry. pretty much all that im reading on these reviews is excuses. they moved to victory and changed their sound to be more mainstream, i even saw them on a commercial with atreyu, man that pissed me off. buy this album if you want to sit around and listen to some crappy forced guy singing in a watered down version of a hardcore band. if you want to listen to some good hardcore get their first album.
different, but don't just push it away .......2006-04-20
Many kids who are in the scene have a distinct disliking of what Victory does to bands (CBK comes to mind), but the latest release of With Honor should be an exception to this rule. Yes, most people consider their old EPs and Heart Means Everything to be classics in the modern hardcore scene but they shouldn't frown on This Is Our Revenge. Whereas the band does take on a far more melodic rhythm than on their previous albums, and making similarities between them and the numerous melodic hardcore acts of the mid-90s (Good Riddance, Kid Dynamite, think Jade Tree) wouldn't be wrong, I don't feel that they have completely lost their edge. With Honor are merely just showing what else they can do and are trying to change things up in a scene that is becoming very large but quite stagnant at the moment. Check out the songs Plot Two and Closets
you know it's not the same.......2006-03-22
Alright, a lot of the people reviewing this cd with a very optimistic view. To shoot straight, if you came across With Honor by listening to "Heart Means Everything," you started off right. The With Honor that those people know are the chanting, fast, hard, loud, screaming band that kills it live.
With this new release, please take note that the singer is now actually SINGING, not screaming like they used to. The music itself is still strong with fast riffs and chants, but they lose their edge by having melodic singer. And that is exactly why these reviewers are comapring these guys to LAME bands like Sum 41, Thrice, and I even saw someone mention Fall Out Boy. Come on now, anyone will notice that With Honor's hardcore entity has somewhat faded with this new release. This CD is more mainstream than anything.
My final verdict, if you're into the hardcore scene and have "Heart Means Everything," there's a slim chance that you'll be into this release, but check it out anyway. Some newer hardcore bands that I liked are Guns Up!, First Blood, and Verse.
If you're more into the bands that these reviewers have been comparing With Honor to, than you may really be into this release. Just don't ever claim that Fall Out Boy is good. They're lame and they know it.

Another overlooked guitarist!.......2006-09-08
The guitarist on this recoding is somewhat of a local legend where I grew up just outside of Philadelphia, PA. His tone, technique, and vibrato are all excellent. I was lucky enough to hear some of the studio tracks before they were "watered down" by the record company. Another example of how the industry stifles creative artists. Regardless, the recording is still quite good, but the group was never pushed by the label. I believe there were some problems with Polydor at the time also. Dean's voice is good too. If you are a budding guitarist you should give this one a listen.
This woman's voice will floor you.......2006-04-05
I ordered Bad Romance because I came across a website that was raving about JoAnna's voice. I popped it in and was completely floored at the raspy, gritty, soulful power. The Cd is very catchy. The duet with Tom Keifer is unbelievable, their voices mesh so well together. All the songs are good but standouts are of course Love Hurts w/Keifer, In The House Of My Father, Up and Coming, Whitest Lies and Code Of Honor. Rare female fronted rock lovers this is a must have.
Guest vocalist Tom Keifer of Cinderella appears here!.......2005-05-25
This is one of those CDs that will fly under everybody's radar.
This one has Joanna duetting with Cinderella's Tom Keifer on the classic Nazareth ballad "Love Hurts"
Joanna Dean leads an impressive sophmore effort.......2004-12-11
Joanna Dean released her first album in 1988, this is not as raw, or as good, but an excellant work of art none the less. Joanna Dean is a rare talent that most people will never have the pleasure of knowing. A review on her self titled album says she is no longer recording and is now a graphic designer. What a shame. Buy this album. Buy her self titled album if you can find it. Buy anything you can find.(AKA J.D. Jacobs) Not since the likes of Janis Joplin, has there been a singer that put as much of her soul in a song. With only two albums to her credit it is impossible to compare her to Janis, but she is close.

Coming Together.......2007-01-10
I first purchases this album when it first came out because I was a great fan of Saves the Day in their early years, but also of Sean McGrath. Yet, through this album I have been able to hear other bands in which I probably would have never heard. The fact that these different bands were able to get together with their varying styles of playing worked great, a lot better than I thought that it ever would. The way that these various styles worked together for such a good cause surely demonstrates the way that so many different people, no matter who you are, can come together and help stop such a horror that is cancer.
I also wanted to say that after listening to this album over and over again, my college roommate went out and bought it for himself, even though he could have easily copied it from me. And then our friends went out and bought it, and so on and so on. At my college alone, I know of 45 people that have bought this album from just being in the room listening to it. So keep it up everyone and spread the music
There isn't a better way to spend $14........2006-05-26
I just got this CD a few weeks ago, and I think it is great. These charities are very deserving of the money. I am a little disappointed that only 3 others have reviewed it.
A great cd, with great heart, for a great cause...........2004-10-22
After losing both my parents to cancer in 2002 & 2003 (Breast for my mom and Leukemia for my dad) I have made it my personal goal to do what ever I can to support finding a cure for cancer. I do the charity walks, were the ribbons, and am conscious about my purchases when they are benefiting this cause. This is why I gave this cd 5 stars. Not only is the music awesome, but it feels great to know that it is reaching beyond my own ears. Most of the other compilations out there supporting this cause are more mellow and mostly ballads (which are great and I also own), this cd is for the love of rock. I plan to buy more for Christmas gifts. Coincidently this cd is for the "younger" crowd and spreading the word to that crowd is key because you can not be "too young" to develop cancer.
worth every cent.......2004-09-27
everyone should own this comp because A) proceeds benefit various cancer organizations and B) the bands are awesome. All of the acoustic tracks, whether is be Staylight Run/TBS/Motion City Soundtrack etc., are worth the 11$ are their own. Also, i think comps. give people the opportunity to hear some bands they may never find on their own (like Murder By Death). Overall this cd is an excellent buy and worth ever cent.
Great Album For a Great Cause!.......2004-09-26
I bought this album for two reasons: 1) All of the Proceeds go towards the fight against cancer. 2) The music is great. Many of the comps that have come out this summer have been somewhat disappointing for me. This is just not the case with "In Honor."
This album has a little bit for everyone. From the moving intro to the end of both cds you can feel that this album means something to those who worked on it. It is not just a bunch of emo kids complaining. You can tell that every track was specifically selected for its meaning, which makes for a very heartfelt album.
I have been a huge supporter of the Sean McGrath fund since finding out about it in March. I was extremely saddened to hear of Sean's passing when it happened and I have continued to support the fund. It is uplifting to see such great bands joining together to support a great cause and two great charities.
I suggest everyone go and BUY a copy of this album and not just download it. I know that everyone who likes the type of punk/emo/hardcore music that Vagrant Records puts out, will love this album. And if you don't like it or are not familiar with it, you should still buy it because it really has music for anyone who is a fan of music. Great music for a great cause!

Album Description
Immovable, skin like armor...a rolling juggernaut. Rhinoceros, Buffalo's sxe monster could NOT be more aptly named. Having had a comprehensive West Coast tour under their belts at a stage when most young bands are more inclined to play to their own scene; Rhinoceros is a force unto themselves. Sonically and stylistically nothing short of pulverizing. There is no need for Rhinoceros to carve out a small niche for themselves within straightedge hardcore, or the broader scene of hardcore because Rhinoceros is going to change the nature of the game. Stylistically, reminiscent of early Madball with touches of of 100 Demons; Rhinoceros does not fall into the trap of just borrowing from their influences, but rather etching out their own place within hc and sxe. Their debut full-length, is imminent..much like the chaos that will follow.

Intense and dramatic.......2006-02-01
The Alaska 12 Expeditions is so far the last Death & Take$ album, put together after original band member and creator Tom Shannon's death from cancer in 2002. Some of the songs do feature Shannon's unique bass playing, but those he was unable to put on tape were handled by a vast array of guest musicians that his band mate Vince Martinez found and integrated into the music. Martinez also co-wrote most of the material here, some from scratch, and helped finish arrangements too.
First of all, this album is a great act of love and respect in musical form, dedicated to the memory of Thomas Patrick Shannon. What's even more meaningful is that the sales of the album will be used in support of the worthy cause of cancer research and funds will go to UCLA's Jonsson's Cancer Research Center. This is worth the price of the album alone, but amazingly, the CD is also full of songs that are carefully written, recorded and arranged. From simple acoustic guitars and bass arpeggios that define "The War Against Metal Atrophy" to the engaging guitar work on the detailed "Misunderstanding A Little Less Completely", The Alaska 12 Expeditions is an interesting piece of work. Textured guitar harmonies float above the compositions before giving way to creepy, silent passages where a cold mix of bass, keys and sparse cymbals can be heard. The atmosphere is ethereal, drums roll wildly, while the vocals lament the loss of a loved one, even if the title was inspired by C.S. Lewis' book titled A Grief Observed. Side by side with the dramatic pieces are catchier and more direct tracks such as "Revolver", a song with an excellent arrangement, beautiful synths, acoustic guitars, and a terrific interpretation from George Radai who does Tom Shannon's original bass arrangement justice. "The Suffer Ring" is another interesting song, as it seems like it consists of two totally separate songs merged into the framework of one. It begins with nifty chord changes on the guitar and concludes with a depressive, almost grungy (especially considering the vocals at the end) form. I quite enjoyed this song.
"Snail" is just some drum and bass arrangement that lasts less than a minute and segues into the lengthy instrumental "Death: Theory", a title Vince Martinez came up. Apparently, Tom Shannon also used to jam with this free-style improvers called Bag: Theory, and when he passed away, Martinez asked the guys to come over and jam this amazing blues-inflected track out. With a distinct southern flair, where country meets bluegrass, this is the band's take on various genres, utilising harmonica, saxophone, conga, and impressive finger-picked bass lines. The guitar work is searing throughout. Given the atmosphere in the studio when this song was put down on tape, the track becomes all the more emotional in its impact.
Death and Taxe$ is impossible to categorise musically. There is a lot of prog rock going on here, but it's equally jazz and blues friendly. By the way, the Chapman stick playing is awesome too. I heard Vince Martinez has already started work on the follow-up to this album, hopefully out some time in 2006. I'll be on the lookout, so should you.

Customer Reviews:
Collects 2 Rare EPs.......2006-05-11
Some of you may recognize Lion as the band who performed the Transformers theme song for the movie. 1986's Power Love EP was Lion's first release. While the band would later develop a "not quite hair metal but not really power metal" style, the songs on Power Love are more squarely in the melodic hard rock style. Doug Aldrich's guitar work is better than average, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given his later work with Dio and Whitesnake.
The Japanese import reissue of Power Love also contains the 4-song instrumental EP Code of Honor by Lion Drummer Mark Edwards, which is essentially Lion without vocals.
The track listing is as follows:
Power Love
1. Power Love
2. Stranger in the City
3. Victim of Circumstances
4. Hungry for Love
5. Love Is a Lie
6. Forgotten Sons
Code of Honor
7. Kamikaze

Product Description
Very seldom does a band emerge with such emotion, dedication, and hunger to make larger than life sounds. All too often we find ourselves caught up in the whirlpool of sing along choruses and snap your fingers melodies that, in short, impress the money hungry and disappoint the true music lover. Throughout the past years, there have been so few to stand up to this musical "dumbing down" and aural injustice.
Fueled by contempt for the scene and disgust for most of the music generated therein, Revenant emerged in the winter of 2003-2004 from the small Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Az. Their current line up consists of the same four who started the band, a rarity in the Phoenix metal scene or elsewhere for that matter. Brothers Chris(vocals) and DJ(guitars) have been collaborating musically since they could barely even pick up an instrument. Throughout numerous bands and projects, the two finally came together again after a short absence while DJ was recording demos for the band Drastic which included Chris, as well as bass player Alan and drummer David. Upon the separation of Drastic, something far more than any of them could imagine was about to rise from the ashes.
