Customer Reviews:
The only Detonation was RATT's career.......2007-01-25
This album was the final blow (no pun intended) to RATT's fabulous career in the 80s. Cellar, Invasion and Undercover were all fantastic albums, Reach for the Sky started to show signs of problems and by here it was all over. Desmond Child is a fantastic producer but not for Ratt, they completely lost any 'punch' or 'rawness' they had in their previous records. People would argue that Ratt had an overproduced sound already, this is partially true, but out of all the LA Metal bands, these guys had the rawest sounds, with the dual guitar attack of Crosby/Martini, the rock solid rhythm of Croucier/Blotzer and the raw, raspy vocals of Steven Pearcy. This album lost the guitar attack, with really only one guitarist remaning (and it shows), severely softened rhythm section lacking overall groove and vocals that although didnt sound horrible (apart from attempts at ballads) weren't up there with the heaviness of previous Ratt albums. It's too glossy, too overproduced. It doesn't fit into a genre properly either, with its 'metal' label, 'pop' stylings and 'hard rock' feel. I suppose Pop Metal is a good term, but I hate that because it goes against everything metal stands for. RATT were a Hard Rock band at the very least.
There is not one song on this album I rave about, 'Loving you is a dirty job' has it's moments, definately, but when I listen I hear too much of the stuff Desmond was doing with Alice Cooper and Bon Jovi at the time.
Overall, it's not the worst album I've ever heard, but for Ratt it's too glossy, too polished, and the irony is that they were aiming for more radio play with an album like that but the opposite happened with them losing the sound that got them on the radio in the first place.
Dissappointing.
Not under 13 just using this not to sign up.
The end of an era!!.......2007-01-17
After three incredible albums: "Out of the cellar", "Invasion of your privacy" and "Dancing undercover" and later the good "Reach for the sky" then comes the final nail in the coffin for one of my favorites in the 80's. Detonator is the synonimous of pop metal in the worst and out of ideas. In this album, i feel a tired Ratt, pushing themselves hard to make an stand out album, after the "Reach for the sky disillusion". For me "Detonator" is one of the worst album in the 80's. Try the first four albums and the "Ratt" ep. You won't regret it!!!
VERY Underrated Album By An AWESOME Band.......2006-11-12
I've seen this album get really bad reviews and it ticks me off. It's criminally underrated, as has been said before by others. While it sucks that late guitarist Robbin Crosby was unable to get more of his input on this disc, it's chock-full of very rockin', memorable songs. From the intro of "War In D/Shame, Shame, Shame," Detonator is heavy rocking and it just keeps you listening intently throughout. Highlights are "Hard Time," "Can't Wait On Love" and "Givin' Yourself Away" (with some terrific and very DIFFERENT vocal styling by Stephen Pearcy on the latter). I wouldn't say this is my *favorite* Ratt album, but it gets a good, solid 4 stars out of me.
The end of the line..........2006-05-13
First things last: Who's giving this record four and five stars? I'm a big Ratt fan, all the way back to the E.P.
But this just isn't a good album. They'd resorted to outside writers by this point, because their main songwriter (Robbin Crosby) from their salad daze couldn't write killer songs anymore. I always liked "One Step Away", but even that's a little too clean & polished for Ratt n'Roll. Easily their worst full studio record of the five...

Ratt - 'Detonator' (Atlantic).......2006-03-29
Originally put out in 1990,as this was Ratt's fifth album. Not as good as,say their previous efforts like 'Out Of The Cellar' or 'Dancing Undercover',but still decent '80's metal.Tracks that sort of stand out are "Shame,Shame,Shame","Lovin' You's A Dirty Job","Heads I Win,Tails You Lose",the catchy "All Or Nothing" and "Giving Yourself Away".Almost sorry to have to admit, that THESE days Ratt is a band that more or less is washed-up.Ever since guitarist Robbin Crosby(R.I.P.)had exited the group after the release of this lp,it was strictly down hill from there. It was nice to have Ratt around on the arena rock touring circuit, from like 1984-89.Their current line-up is nothing to write home about.

You're nothing but a f***in' bum!.......2006-03-13
This CD features the legendary crank phone call tapes made to "Red", the owner of The Tube Bar. Some guys with nothing better to do would call up Red and ask him to page someone with a name like "Al Coholic" or "Ben Dover". As often as not, Red would fall for it, although he would often mispronounce the name they asked for. When Red didn't get fooled, he would go off on a profanity laced tirade on the caller. The callers actually come across as a bit cowardly, because Red would challenge them to meet him and fight, and they would never show up. The CD also features the same guys calling "Tom", an Italian grocer, and "Judy", a barmaid. These people would also go off on profane tirades against the callers. The crank callers aren't actually funny at all. The humor comes from hearing the obscene tirades that the angry victims go off on. Here is the track listing:
1. Tube Bar - Red
2. Red's Crapper
3. Tom
4. Interlude
5. Judy
6. Red Again

One of my best buys ever.......2004-11-29
Ways better than "Vulnerable", it is one of the most sofisticated CDs I ever listened to in my life. It can satisfy every people's ears, with sounds and rhythms that magically combine together the modernity of chillout with the pleasantness of a good soft touch. Bet you can only come to love it.
Parisian Lounge with a taste of the Greek Isles...........2002-03-06
This is mellow electro-lounge music - with a jazzy feel and a little taste of the islands. This is sexy music - perfect for any bar, lounge, restaurant or hotel. The album is fantastic and Mikael is definitely an upcoming world-class producer. You will be hearing a lot more about him. Get your hands on this before your friends do.

Intro 2 Ak.......2006-03-19
New to underground hip hop? Love to find new artists? Rather than his full length release 'Balance' [which was a debacle in my opinion]- Ak's EP is a dope introduction to this Mass. born emcee.
Highlights: Ruff Enuff, Battle Royal
Decent little EP for all you heads.

Amazingness in a circular disc?.......2004-11-03
This album is something i would not have expected from a local band. 10 tracks of emotion and energy that surpass basically anything i've bought... ever.
they broke up though.....
supposidly they only have a few of these once-in-a-lifetime discs left so buy it before they are gone because once they are gone - they are gone for good.
i heard some of them have a new band. www.stormvstree.com
