About the Artist
SEVERE TORTURE started in 1997 with the following line-up: Thijs/guitars, Seth/drums, Erik/vocals, Jelle/guitars and Patrick/bass. With this line-up they recorded "Baptized...", a 5-song demotape/CD produced by Vincent Dijkers (Sinister, Houwitser), in 1998. SEVERE TORTURE spread 600 copies all over the world and got a lot of good reactions but no good offers from records labels.
After the release of the demo Eric left SEVERE TORTURE to join dutch death metal masters SINISTER. Also around the same time Seth and Patrick joined the dutch band CENTURIAN to complete their line-up but continued playing in SEVERE TORTURE, their No.1 band . Eric got replaced by vocalist Dennis and with this line-up SEVERE TORTURE recorded a 2-song promoCD just for labels. After getting a lot of good reactions SEVERE TORTURE played a gig with IMMOLATION and this caused the leaving of guitarplayer Jelle. Meanwhile DAMNATION RECORDS released the 2-song promo on 7 vinyl called 'Pray for Nothing' and was limited to 500 handnumbered copies. At this moment the 7 is sold-out.
SEVERE TORTURE continued as a 4-piece band and signed a contract for 1 CD with FADELESS RECORDS. After a couple of months Wilko of FADELESS RECORDS joined the HAMMERHEART RECORDS team and started up the sub-label THE PLAGUE. Meanwhile SEVERE TORTURE appeared at the NO MERCY 2000 festival in 013/Tilburg with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE, VADER, HATE ETERNAL and VOMITORY and SEVERE TORTURE did their first tour, 9 days across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Belgium and Holland with DAMNATION(pl) and the last 3 gigs also with PYAEMIA(hol). After this minitour SEVERE TORTURE started the recordings of the full-length 'Feasting on Blood' at Franky's Recording Kitchen with producers Berthus Westerhuys and Robbie Woning. The artwork for the album was done by Joe Maloney. Feasting on Blood' was released on oktober 9th 2000 in Europe and will be released in the USA through HAMMERHEART AMERICA in february 2001. The CD was also released on picture vinyl limited to 500 copies, worldwi! de.
SEVERE TORTURE did a European tour in january 2001 together with MACABRE(USA), BROKEN HOPE(USA) and DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER(DE) called Masters of Murder 2001'. During this tour THE PLAGUE released the 7 Lambs of a God'; 2 unreleased tracks (Taking down the Descender / Lambs of a God) on green vinyl limited to 500 copies. At this moment this 7 is sold out.
February 2001 THE PLAGUE changed into HAMMERHEART RECORDS and offered SEVERE TORTURE a contract for 2 more full-lengths. Meanwhile Seth and Patrick stopped playing in CENTURIAN because Wim and Rob (CENTURIAN-drummer/-guitarist) wanted fully-commited bandmembers. They are still in good contact and you can expect SEVERE TORTURE / CENTURIAN gigs in the future. April 2001, the month SEVERE TORTURE invaded the USA live. SEVERE TORTURE played the OHIO DEATH FEST together with EXHUMED, DEEDS OF FLESH and many more, and played two gigs with PESSIMIST and BURIAL and spreaded their music in the States. Extreme brutality. . . and a melodic excursion?.......2005-04-18
In the days where everyone has a death metal band and attempts to be the most brutal on the market, most of these blasting practitioneers are a dime a dozen or at most worthy of a spin. At one time a few years ago, a resurgence of surprisingly good groups came out of nowhere to shock including "Severe Torture From Holland".
My first experience with this group was at a live performance, and I was blown away by the sheer ferocity of their blasting death metal. Upon purchasing the album, I was pleased to hear that they used many subtle melodic vehicles to move their music along (I would cite songs to reference by, but I'm afraid that Amazon would not publish this review). Death metal fans interested in hearing competent musicians play material in the Cannibal Corpse vein, but with more focus and some very interesting songs, I recommend Feasting On Blood hands-down.

Not too great........2007-04-16
I agree with "Burning Babies". The instrumentals weren't that great...and the overall sound lacks (not to mention the fact that the whole CD seems as if it's one giant, similar-sounding song). The vocals are actually, in my opinion, pretty well executed though. They remind me of Chris Barnes except a bit higher in pitch and fuller, so to speak. Still, the CD generally lacks. It sounds similar to Misanthropic Carnage also, but I'd say Misanthropic Carnage is better than this LP. It has more variation and technicality to it than this one.
So, if you're into standard, semi-boring grindcore-ish death metal then this release is for you. If you're more into technical death metal and standard non-grindcore-like death metal vocals with a substantial amount of variation among songs, then I wouldn't suggest this to you.
Meh............2005-11-08
Fairly technical, competently performed, but uninspired. Standard death metal fare with lots of trem picking, blast beats, and some pretty cool breakdowns (probably the highlights of the album). Overall, there's not much here to differentiate it from the pack however. The unintelligible (even for death metal) vocals remind me of Chris Barns or John Gallagher and add little to the experience, and the riffing is generally pedestrian. Perhaps worth having if you are a rabid death metal fan, but otherwise, skip it. There are just too many bands who can pull this off with far more originality and skill (e.g. Suffocation, Deicide, Nile, Cryptopsy, ____ insert favorite death band here). Three stars is generous.
Better then its previous release........2005-06-17
Gory, santanic and filthy are the guys from sever torture... Without being dissapointed their music will for sure leave you banging your head till it falls off ! Severe torture's " feasting on blood" is tight as it gets... Highly recommended !
Luficer will prevail..........2005-04-09
If you simply just read the names of each song? You'll know that severe torture isn't playing around when it comes to being anti-christians and praising satan in every possible way...Now to the music, its technical and also sounds original which is always a plus in my book. To all the people who love brutal deathmetal with talent and organized you won't be dissapointing with severe torture's "feasting on blood" its sick! \m/
Very satanic band with rythm to their music........2005-02-28
Severe torture's "feasting on blood" is very much an albumthat is quite assential and has its own brutality to it without being overly done like so many crap out now... For people into a sound thats originaly again and has not cheesy satanic lirycs? Get it.
