Classic Swedish Death.......2007-04-03

Only slightly less (and I mean extremely slightly) essential than 1990's Left Hand Path, 1991's Clandestine features the same extreme and blood-curdling vocals and more brutal musicianship from the Scandinavian death-metal masters. If you enjoy death metal and want to hear the best of what the genre has to offer, get this and Left Hand Path along with Carnage's Dark Recollections (which sounds extremely similar to what is heard hear which makes sense since they shared the same producer and studio with each other).

Best death metal album.......2007-01-08

In my opinion, which I've held for a long time, this is the best death metal album ever made. The songs are original and memorable. This is an album that you can listen to again and again and not grow tired of it. My only critique of it is the sound quality of the guitars is poor enough that sometimes the pitch of the notes is indistinguishable.

Entombed after this album did the whole world a great disservice by changing their style to rock-metal.

Clandestine is a classic death metal album........2006-11-20

Alot of reviewers have said that their first album Left hand path was better which is true but it doesn't mean that this album was a sophmore slump, its just as good and it also has a different sound which means that they were evolving cause you could tell that these guys are talented. Back when this album was released in 1991 it was considered a trendsetting death metal album and has increased in importance throughout the years. Clandestine also finds these Swedish artists retaining the complexity and brutality of their first album while making and crafting better music and lyrics which is the result of drummer Nicke Andersson who wrote most of the songs. The best songs are Evilyn, Stranger Aeons and Crawl which in the demo track sounds alot longer and better in my opinion.

A Death Metal Classic/Masterpiece.......2006-09-28

This is definitely a Scandinavian Death Metal classic and certainly put Stockholm and Sunlight Studios on the map. You gotta love the dirty dirty guitar and bass!

I saw a review that said Nicke Andersson did the vox, but I'm pretty sure it's LG on vox with the credits going to Johnny Dordevic, but I could be wrong. Either way, if you're a fat, old fan of Death Metal, you already have this. If not, I would recommend it. The early 90's were good years for Death Metal!

SLICING THROATS AT AN INSANE RATE.......2006-04-18

I didnt like Clandestine as much as I did their masterpeice of a debut "Left Hand Path," but it's still a great album. The main thing for me is the vocals... It was actually Nicke Anderson, former drummer, that stepped up & did the vox on the album even though it doesn't say in the CD booklet because LG Petrov was temporarly kicked out of the band. He does have some great sounding vox here & there, but personally I think LG did a better job. That's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Aside from the vox, the album itself is pretty good. Some songs are slower & chug along instead of total all-out thrash, such as "Evilyn," but that also makes it different & unique. All & all, its a good album well worth listening to.

Mikko Aspa is a master of the the two seminal forms of black metal: The doom-laden Celtic Frost brans of sluggish, wicked chug & The blurring blasts of minor key deviant melodicism. His band, Clandestine Blaze, has over time become bent towards a more primal, sneering and ruthless feel. C.B. has been key in asserting itself within the context of the Northern Heritage release "Primitive Finland." Their brand of no frills black metal is growled, gnarled, basic, and brutal. It takes the best of the styles Darkthrone was pushing on "Panzerfaust" and it has made it more coherent, consistent, and more realistic and neanderthal is sound. The sound is harsh and it stands as a consuming beast. The band has no face or fake and deliberate selling point. This is real black metal; no comprmise...Plug in and PUMMEL the recorder attitude.

May I Be Bleak?.......2005-08-03

Still highly churning out among the best black metal the scene has to offer, Clandestine Blaze continue on their path of skull-crushing, Christ-bashing and still sound as fresh and as true as they did with their earlier work. Though I was a fan of their previous albums and E.P.s ('Below the Surface of Cold Earth' being among my favorite black metal albums), I seemed to enjoy 'Delivers of Faith' more than I expected. That album is a very slight progression to a colder, more surreal sound ala Sear Bliss, specifically from their last full length 'Fist Of The Northern Destroyer' (though still a solid album). Mind you I speak not of some sort of progression to becoming some sort of faux black metal band (name dropping here seems inappropriate) but to just a different level of sheer intensity. Clandestine Blaze delivers not only the faith but some of the most exciting and trance-inducing black metal heard in awhile.

Buy this CD!.......2003-06-05

This is a fantastic CD by a group that released only two disks, "Clandestine Electronic Subculture" and "Meta." (Where are they now?) The CD is mastered as a continuous mix, running the gambit from Biosphere-influenced ambient (circa Microgravity) to breakbeat techno. "Modus Operandi" parts 2 and 1 are a tour de force of subtle percussion shifts, synth washes, Basic Channel-influenced synth riffs, bleating sheep, and processed machinery noise. I too bought this CD on a whim, and rate it as one of my favorite electronica recordings, period. If this were a prog recording, it would remind me of Porcupine Tree circa "The Sky Moves Sideways" or "Signify."

my favorite eletronic album.......2002-09-27

this is the best eletronic music album i own, and i have plenty. i discovered it randomly in a record shop on Haight Street, and gave it a chance. never been so glad to have bought an album on a whim. i can't believe these guys haven't become superstars. i really hope they put out another album.

an extremely hard-to-find gem.......2002-06-21

in 1997 a friend at my work let me borrow this cd. the music just stuck in my mind, although i was just beggining to appreciate "electronica". it took me 3 years later to finally buy it. its very much an ambient type mix sort of like Hybrid's Original Finished Symphony. the music has a very chill out mood to it. this cd is just very beautifull. i also have another of thier albums( i dont know how many they had) its called Meta. I wish their cds were not out of print, i know that many would applaude this cd as well if they had it. "this is not art for arts sake, this is more like spiritual technology..."

Dark Electronic Music.......2001-12-02

i bought this CD late '97 and been looking to buy a copy since someone never returned mine back in 98. . FINALLY. i have to agree with the first reviewer, this album is a work of art. i also want MODUS OPERANDI, another of theirs. for some reason these are rare albums to get a hold of.

Unbelievable, moving, inspirational, incredible........2001-08-24

My first exposure to Symbiosis was a 12" LP that was out of print and heavily played. Amazingly, 2 years later I come across this, their full LP!

The best way to describe these guys is: Ambient, Deep Jungle, Hard Trance, Spacey break-beat and Trancey down-tempo. Seem like a crazy mix? It is, and they pull it off with amazing beauty and elegance.

This is, by far, my favorite CD of all time. It is still in my heavy rotation list, after 3 years!

The entire cd flows from song to song (like a mix cd) but within their own control and style. Its almost impossible to tell where one song ends and another begins.

This is "journey" music. If you need something to help you sort out reality... this is the cd for you!
