YES!!!!! GOOD PUNK ROCK.......2006-05-31
The Virus was one of the best punk bands around during their time together. ANd this release definitly shows it. With songs like "Nowhere to Hide" " Rats in the City" and "Already Dead" make this a punk masterpeice. Long Live the VIRUS. If you dig it check out Cheap Sex, mikes new project
Malt-O-Bene.......2005-04-21
This is the Hardcore Street punk album ive ever heard, every one is diggin the Unseen and telling me how good they are but the Virus s**t all over those dudes. It probably deserves 5 stars but Its to hard to say. I really dig this guys voice, thats probably why it stands out more that other HC street punk ive heard, You can actually understand him very clearly and yet he still yells, not only that, the songs have a good tune so it doesnt sound just like noise going 100 miles per hour. all you 'street punks' will love it and any one into HC rock and roll (fwark the emo, scremo, poppy, boys night out crap) just buy it if you like fast angry quality music with a message.
also check out Clit 45 and Union 13.(not as good as these guys tho).
THE VIRUS REDEFINES ITSELF........GET THIS CD.......2004-05-02
AMAZING
This Cd is the greatest thing the virus has put out. When I heard the virus's first CD " still fighting for a future" I thought it was pretty decent, spotlight tracks were "until we win, they lie, no time at all" The cd was agressive but some songs lacked energy over all the cd was 4 stars good. When NOWHERE TO HIDE was released, i have never heard such great agressive punk rock in my life. This new formation of the band is the best street punk combination ever. The vocals on this cd are phenomenal. The vocals are so agressive and destructive, yet they deliver a range of vocal variety that a lot of street punk bands dont have. This cd sounds very different from your average casualties, or varukers cd's. The guitar work on the album is incredible dealing killer solos and awesome guitar riffs with back up guitar in the background. The drumming is killer also. The drums in this recording have so much intensity they break all sound levels. One thing I love about this cd is that the lyrics dont focus all on politics/government that a lot of punk music does, instead it focuses on hardships of life and the anger and hate kids have to deal with. Some of the greatest tracks on this cd are So long, rats in the city, another day goes by, my life my world, working for the company, vicous rumors, already dead, the very last day. This is the greatest thing ever to hit street punk, bringing the UK 82 legend to new levels. DONT HESITATE TO BUY THIS CD!!!! BUY IT!!!! ITS THE GREATEST!!!! MUST HAVE@!!!!!

Album Description
This second CD from Janiece Jaffe offers an array of mellow, straight-ahead jazz standards featuring her lush soprano vocals backed by only acoustic guitar or bass. Scott Yanow, editor of the All Music Guide to Jazz, says Jaffe is "a wonderful singer with a very appealing voice ...and, on the evidence of It Takes Two and her previous recording, Keep the Flame Alive, already ranks up there with the Big Apple's best. ...Janiece Jaffe has such an original style and a distinctive voice; there is no mistaking her for anyone else!"
Customer Reviews:
Janiece Jaffe rare talent.......2002-10-01
Janiece Jaffe is one of the finest jazz vocalists you will ever hear. A beautiful voice coupled with terrifically creative and compelling phrasing mark this lady as one of today's finest vocalists.
A Must Have.......2002-02-22
I found this CD after shopping for a Jane Monheit disk. Janiece Jaffe is definitely a must have if you're a fan of female jazz vocal. Her voice is beautiful and mature, her phrasing is exciting, and the arrangements on songs like "Till There Was You" lend a fresh perspective to the compilation. I must add that "Harlem Nocturne" left me slack-jawed (I played it over and over the first day.)
I live in St. Louis, but can't wait to make the drive to central Indiana to see this woman perform.
A real jazz singer..........2001-10-22
It sometimes seems like every female who isn't doing rap is regurgitating the same standards and show tunes, trying to be sophisticated. A lot of them try to get off with calling themselves jazz singers, particularly hilarious for someone like Diana Krall. Jaffe delivers the goods. Yeah, she's going through the same repertoire, but she actually has real jazz influences, does things that are a bit of a stretch (La Vie en rose) and in general shows creativity. Of all the vast female masses trodding this ground, Jaffe is one of the very few who is for real, has something of her own to add and really projects commitment.
NEW DISCOVERY!!.......2001-08-05
It's a new discovery for me! However, I am sure that this fabulous singer has paid her dues (is still doing so) for one does not become this perfect voice, diction and style and makes you feel if each and every song is new. I am so impressed and I coudn't and haven't spent this small amount of monies on a unknown talent (to me) and be so satiified and wanting even more of her recordings. Janiece, you give me hope for the future of music. I shall praise you to every one I know (altho that's not prominsing a lot). Do you tour and sing in the clubs in the Florida area? What a delight you are!
A new jazz vocal star.......2001-01-02
I love jazz vocalists, but rarely pick up a record and feel an instant excitement. "It Takes Two" is one of those records. The songs are mainly familiar standards, but Jaffe's warm, supple voice and extraordinary range make them sound fresh and original. The minimal accompaniment is wonderful too, but she could have sung this album unaccompanied and been just as amazing. In fact, this record is one of the few I've heard to compare with Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass's classic "Take Love Easy."

Praying Mantis - Nowhere To Hide.......2001-06-17
Praying Mantis is one of those bands of which I haven't been following their career, mainly because of the fact their albums haven't been very easily available in this part of the woods. So it's very hard, no it's impossible for me to compare Nowhere To Hide to their earlier work. Except for the fact that this is the same line-up as on their former album, but that's an easy one, because that's in the liner notes. To be honest I didn't know what to expect from Nowhere To Hide. And so I didn't have any idea that a band that's been around for so long and has known so many line up changes could sound so fresh and energetic. The repertoire on this album is delicious sounding Hardrock with an AOR edge where on some of the tracks it's still clearly audible they head from the NWOBHM era. Just take a listen to I Can't Stop The Fire and you'll know what I'm talking about. One by one the songs are top notch. There's only ten of them on this European release, and that's a pity because I just can't get enough of this kind of material, the more the better! Most striking are the guitar- and vocal harmonies which are first class. I haven't heard many albums with such smooth guitar and vocal work on it lately. My compliments! The solos are spectacular as well. No endless technical ego-trips (although that can have its moment as well occasionally), but just very tasteful melody-lines. Well, what more can I tell you? This is just one of my favorite albums of 2000 and very often it's harder to review a completely brilliant album than to review one that has a few minor flaws. Nowhere To Hide has surprised me in a very positive way and certainly leaves a hunger for more. So I'll think I'm going to try to get me their previous album. To start with, because I believe I have some catching up to do...
A must-have for melodic rock fans.......2000-12-08
Praying Mantis got their claim to fame in 1981 with the NWOBHM classic "Time Tells No Lies". Always the more melodic of the bunch, things looked great for the band of brothers Chris and Tino Troy. But bad luck and bad management made them miss the boat. After transforming into "Clive Burr's Escape" and "Stratus", they disappeared from the face of the earth. Until 1990, that is, when they were joined by Paul di'Anno and Dennis Stratton (both ex-Iron Maiden) for a NWOBHM 10th Anniversary concert. Things took off from there (mainly in Japan) and they've had quite some highs and lows (and different singers!) since then. Things really started to look bright for them when singer Tony O'Hora replaced Gary Barden and "Forever in Time" was released, a powerful album mainly about loss and coping with it.
And now there's "Nowhere to Hide". Released earlier this year in Japan by Pony Canyon and now by Frontiers/Now & Then, with a bonus track. After "Forever in Time" (a contender for my favourite album of all times, by any band) I didn't think their new one would be as good. Not to worry, there's no shame in not being able to reach perfection twice. But how was I to know these guys could do it?
To come to the point: "Nowhere to Hide" is a brilliant album. Filled from start to finish with their trademarks: powerful melodies, huge harmony vocals, twin guitars and emotional lyrics. No filler songs in sight. Practically every song is an epic, with lots of surprises and dramatic changes of mood in each one.
Again, the lyrics are wonderful and meaningful - something lacking in most of the rock scene today. Survival seems to be the main theme on this album, in more than one way, evidenced by songs like "Future of the World", "S.O.S." , "River of Hope" and the title track. Other songs are more personal:"Whenever I'm Lost" is an emotional `thank you' from Dennis Stratton to his son, and the epic bonus track "Naked" is about the baby daughter Tino Troy lost earlier this year. You can't get more emotional than that...
So, if you like your music melodic, powerful and emotional, this is an album you can't get around. Nowhere to hide indeed...
