Simply the best!.......2004-05-26

One of the first "vinyl" albums I purchased back in the very early 1980's was Y&T's "Black Tiger." I was 16 at the time, and bought it just because the album cover was way cool (black tiger....go figure). I had no idea it was the beginning of a long and amazing journey and love affair with Dave and his band(s). I have always had a special spot in my heart for Dave's playing, because no matter what the song subject matter entailed, you could taste the stinging blues flavor in his playing and singing. I have a tremendous admiration for those master "slingers" who sing to their compositions because they believe their voice fits the musical style and playing the best (Terrible Ted, Johnny Winter, Gary Moore, Dave Meniketti, Zakk Wylde; crossing generations and musical states).

This album simply oozes soul, and Dave's playing is intricately a bluesy, smokin' rock! Though maybe not the most technically competent player, Dave mixes the compositions up so that the synergisitic sum of the parts exceeds any other guitarists' works I have heard in a VERY long time. I have seen Y&T three times over the course of 20 years, and the shows are pure energy; always sounding better than any their studio recordings. Dave "blazes" live!

This album is a must for fans of Y&T, Dave Meniketti, blues based hard rock and guitar officionados. If you EVER get a chance to see him/them live, as the days of this ilk and quality of musicians are numbered, SEE THEM! I will refund your money if you are in the least bit disappointed!

EVH plays the blues.......2004-02-09

Except for "Mans World" this album kicks the blues up a notch, past Walter Trout. Definitely an EVH influence, shred w/ pinch harmonics, my but this guy can play!

This album is pure blues/rock enjoyment. I first heard some of his tracks on live365.com blues stations and had to have this album. After listening to the rest of the album, it has not left my CD changer. Dave's voice coupled with his guitar style make for a really awesome album. I highly recommend it, I especially
like "Loan me a dime" that track is unbelievable and "Take it like a man".

This is an excellent cd from meniketti. It does have a blues feel to it, but some numbers really rock. Meniketti burns the strings off of the guitar throughout, lots of soloing and very good, too. Let's say Earthshaker doesn't have a blues feel to it but this cd is comparable in the hard rock, blues fashion to the way it rocks. Four songs are sols's the rest have vocals to them.

Ho Hum for Meniketti.......2004-03-28

After the unbelievable "On the Blue Side", and the previous Y&T stuff, I expected alot from this new release. Unfortunatly, this cd does not stand up and deliver. It is not that the cd is bad, just not as good as we have come to expect from Meniketti. Some rock songs, some blues songs and some mixed, but never really nailing any song. The vocals are very good ( as usual ), but the songs seem to lack heart. As a virtual "rookie" release for Dave with his new band mates, this cd does show promise, and I look forward to any future releases, but this cd won't get much play time in my cd player.

I flew out to California from Texas and stood right in front of Dave Meniketti on Dec 13th of 2003 on the 2nd of 2 nights of his 50th Birthday Bash and watched him just totally pour out a awesome Live set of his 2 solo CD's and if you was there you would and will never forget it.Dave plays with so much passion it will make you watch and listen very closely to what his fingers and voice are doing and that is playing some very well written songs and some very well played songs that very few artist these days are doing.Writting good songs with some guitar licks here and there.

Look if you want some good music get Dave's solo CD's or pick up some Y&T,Dr.Music has givin you the remedy for Lack of good songs on radio.MENIKETTI or Y&T!!!!!!

Dave, please get Y&T back together........2003-06-11

I am a huge fan of Y&T and Dave Meniketti but this album was quite a disappointment to me. Nothing on it is really bad, but by the same token, nothing on it is really good either. It is mostly just kinda boring. Dave plays well as always and his voice still seems ageless, but the song are completely unexceptional. Nothing to grab your attention. I really wish Y&T would just reform and go back and listen to all the great stuff they did back in the 80s and early 90s. Just do more of the same. For classic Meniketti get the Y&T albums Black Tiger, Meanstreak, In Rock We Trust, Down For The Count, Contagious, and Ten.

No Edge.......2003-05-15

I had listened to and even saw Y&T in concert but never was much of a fan. I bought Meniketti's last solo,On the Blue Side, really liked it and was hoping for something similar, maybe even a little heavier. Have to say I was a little disapointed.
Most of the songs are weak and boring. If your like Dave for his singing and song writing buy the album but if you like ripping guitar licks skip it.

Awesome!.......2003-04-08

Wow! Fantastic CD! Just what the doctor ordered in these weird musical times. The songs on this CD are all excellent - I must say that I pretty much like every song (which is not something I can say about most CDs I buy these days). Too difficult to choose favorites off of this CD, as my favorites seem to change each day! It's like I'm addicted - I just have to hear this CD every day. I crave it!

I love Y&T, but I must admit that I am really getting off on Dave Meniketti's solo material. I highly recommend this CD!

Someone once told me that to be really great at guitar one had to be able to put their soul on their fingertips and transfer it purely to the fret board below. It is without doubt that Dave Meniketti is able to do this better than any other guitar player today. Dave started playing at the ripe old age of 16 but rest assured he made up for lost time as he had his first recording contract by age 20. Dave has had a 30 year carrier with Y&T and at age 51 has only gotten better having seen him live 10 times in the past year I can tell you that he is a gifted musician who brings all of himself to every performance. For you to be able to experience this first hand you need only click on this disk put on the stereo turn it up sit down and get ready to be blown away. I have not had the pleasure of hearing this and I see no clips
but I would have to say that I'm very curious about this one.
Let there be no doubt that this is going to be a treat for many.
I will consider ordering it, and will report back ASAP.
Ever since I heard the solos on the first 2 from Yesterday & Today, I was hooked...line and sinker !!!!! This guy can get extremely intense with his solos and I'ld love to hear him doing the blues thing..... !!

A Y&T revival. Classic.......1999-11-06

The previous reviews say it all. Absolutely fantastic. Y&T's last two albums were weak at best with only a handful of songs worth listening to. THis may not have a bad song on it except for the previously Parchment Farm. If you grew up in the 80's and loved Y&T you will simply lose it over this masterpiece. Dave shows he's still got it. Like another lead singer/lead guitarist of note (Sammy Hagar) he proves once again that he is one of the best of the past 20 years. And probably of all time. Congrats Dave.

Besides being one of the best singer/guitar player combinations there ever was, Dave Meniketti is also one of the nicest and candid artist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His new album just blew me away the first time I heard it, and it continues to astound me every time I turn on the c.d. player. With songs like "Angel on my shoulder," You can't deny Dave Meniketti is one of the greats. The Man came on my radio show at 2:00am and played his heart out, and everyone in the studio sat there mesmerised for 2 and a half hours.An album like this is worth it's weight in Gold, and is one of the few that could actually get away with having "Guaranteed to please" slapped on the side.

If you are a Y & T fan or not you got to listen to this cd. This guy (Dave Meniketti) can play some kick ass rock & roll / blues music. With the opening track all the through until the last one you will beg for more. Playing since the early Seventies I would think its about time this man gets some recognition he deserves. Listen loud and you will know what I' am talking about.

Dave is one kller guitar player and it shows on this album. He plays with more feeling and balls than anybody around. If your a guitar player you will really like this Cd. Buy this CD, it rocks!

this cd is a great combination of stirring rock, jazz, and pop tracks. the guitar playing is incredible! the smooth yet passionate vocals invoke a sense of longing and commpassion. I still hear the song "Is it you?" in my head like he was playing next door. A great find for those who love old style rock that really means something. Robby Z is a tough guy who is always ready to rock! the cd is a real winner.

Let me tell you about things I know: this CD is amazing! RobbyZ and his band members are a very talented group. I hope that everyone will go out and buy a copy. It's the kind of music you can just listen to over and over again. The words are thoughtfully written and tell stories of love lost and found and still searching. I wish he'd be my man!

Rare Gem !!!!.......2001-01-30

For all of you have never heard of this band now it is time to find out what you have been missing. WS has been around since 1990, and was ahead of there time. This Classic has most of there greatest songs ever recorded on one album. I believe they did not get the credit they deserve because they where to anti-Goverment (Hell, they where just telling the truth!). I have all there cds to date and plan adding the newest one, which will be released this year 2001. What do you have to lose? Buy it and you will see what you have been missing. You will not be disappointed.......2001-01-03

I got this CD in the mail today and it went straight into my CD player, and I have a feeling it will not be leaving for awhile. Warrior Soul is one of the best and most underrated bands to come out in the last ten years, and it is great that they are back together. This album is a re-recording of some of their earlier work, and many of the songs like Love Destruction, Superpower Dreamland, and The Losers sound new and exciting. The CD has a great live sounding quality to it. I heard that Warrior Soul is suppose to release an album of new material sometime this year. I hope that is true, but until that time comes, this album will keep me satsified.
