Album Description
Recorded at the tail end of 1999, riff-heavy and swaggering, Tender is the Savage sets a new standard for recklessly energized rock and roll in the new millenium. And, Norway's Kings of Rcok are road-ready, prepared to take Tender is the Savage to all corners of the world - and go a long way towards putting the F-U-N (remember that?) back in rock.

what a revelation.............2001-09-19
Well, I bought this CD based on one MP3 on the net ie. "I Got A War". A strategy which sometimes works, but rarely does it pay off like this. Leading off with the abovementioned kick in the ribs, two things are immediately apparent. One, Biff Malibu actually sings! The vocal is definitely not your average punk/rock/Stooges type yell, it has more in common with some of the great blues rock singers of the past, in that it sounds well lived in. Secondly, the guitars are right on the money, and when the first riff comes crashing in, you know you are in the presence of greatness.
For mine, this is far better than anything the Hellacopters have done, in that it doesn't sound retro. It sounds as though Gluecifer are more concerned with the songs themselves, rather than the style in which they are delivered. And of course this strategy wouldn't work if the songs weren't there. This is not a problem. I could go through and list some highlights, but they would only be MY highlights, and yours will be entirely different, and mean as much to you. The only let down is the absence of the enhanced video for "I Got A War" on the bonus disc. Oh well, see? There you go, proof they are human......... P.S. it would be awesome to see them live, but as I live in Australia, I've got more chance of seeing Henry Rollins play live in a t-shirt and jeans. So go see them for me. Bastards.
Way Better Than You'd Expect...........2001-06-08
...given the title which sounds straight out of Spinal Tap. Gluecifer sounds like the Stooges sometimes and early Cult a lot of times. Good by me!
High energy hard rock n roll is hard to come by. So what if the lyrics are dicey - the vocalist sings them with conviction and who really cares about the lyrics in this genre anyway?
Recommended.
bare bones rock and roll.......2000-09-29
this is the best band that i've been introduced to this year hands down. the vocals are similar to glenn danzig and the music is played hard loud and fast with so much passion. with band like this, backyard babies, turbonegro, and the hellacopters around, my faith in rock and roll is at last restored!!!!!!!.

Deliver that sting.......2000-11-18
I'd probably rate this more at a 3-1/2 because it's a good, solid rock n' roll smack in the head. These guys rarely fail to please. Biff Malibu (gotta love that name!) growls out the vocals with a grittiness that suggests he just smoked a carton of Marlboros. Shouted backing vocals (which nobody seems to fully appreciate these days) add a fist-thrusting fullness to the band's sound. It's hard to pick favorites on this album because all of the tunes move you through the 2-CD set at hard-driving warp speed. However, Drunk and Pompous is indeed a classic 70s rock tune - complete with a cracking, metronome drumbeat. I had to laugh when I saw the insert photo showing the drummer passed out on the floor of a washroom - which was spotless. Yeah, right. However, I didn't need to see the other band members sittin' on the john. Call me crazy...
