A sketchy three stars.......2007-05-23

Kickstarted by the great fun time lead track of Lets Get Rocked things were looking pretty darn rosy for this album. Great vibe, band with a huge profile, a bit of a sympathy vote due to the tragedy that befell them in the death of Steve Clark, I mean what could go wrong?

Well for starters overlong dreariness like White Lightning which sounds cool and atmospheric on first listen but is just plain boring on repeated plays. Or how about horrors like Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad? Tripe. Other tunes such as Personal Property and Make Love Like A Man would of sounded OK on Hysteria, they have some groove, but here they lack a supporting cast of really strong songs to prop them up.

On this album Def Lepard have come out with a flimsier version of Hysteria. And to drive the point home that this is Hysteria Mk II is the presence of track 10 - Tear It Down. It's a left over from the Hysteria album and was even used as a 'b' side for heavens sake. When you can't even write ten songs for an album and have to trawl through your discards from a previous album then it indicates a problem.

Having said that there is some growth here in other areas. The lessened involvement of Mutt Lange was much noted at the time though this is still a very heavily produced album as Mike Shipley and Def Leppard have continued very much in the same vein. But it does mean the band had to grow within themselves a bit. Also the band do deserve somewhat of a thumbs up for their perseverance in the face of adversity of a very deep and personal nature.

In summation this is a watered down, less inspired version of their mega hit Hysteria. As Joe Elliott said at the time to Metal Edge magazine 'we could probably put out an album of bee farts at the moment and it would sell'. Well with the big hit of Lets Get Rocked plus a few other OK lep tunes they certainly didn't stoop to those levels, but this was a big let down to their fanbase at the time. And no amount of rose coloured glasses will change that.

Adrenalize Is Underated.......2007-04-15

To me, Def Leppard's ADRENALIZE is so underated and every song on the album is a hit. I think more people would like the album if it came out a lot earlier than what it did back in the spring of 1992. I have been listening to this album recently and it just gets better, and once again when it comes to Def Leppard every song is a hit from the beginning of the album to the end of the album.

Decent follow-up to Hysteria.......2007-04-13

Seems like everyone either loves or hates this album. Is it "Hysteria Part II", as some say? Maybe, I would reply, but is that a bad thing? Adrenalize is a solid rock release amidst a sea of the new grunge emerging at the time, so I'd say it lived up to its promise although admittedly it's not on par with Hysteria. I don't know that that's a realistic expectation. The death of guitarist Steve Clark had a significant impact on their sound as well as on the emotions and well-being of the band, I'm sure. It couldn't have been an easy time, yet they still put a great album out.

Do you wanna get rocked?.......2007-02-08

I'm calling Adrenalize the sex album. Sexy songs by a band that is all that. Most of the songs on this album are smooth rockers filled with provocative lyrics. Well, all right!

Make Love Like A Man has been a staple at live shows, along with Let's Get Rocked. Love them both. Joe & Phil singing on Make Love Like A Man makes this girl's heart beat like a hammer (just like it's supposed to!) Love the video---Phil is crawling on the floor while singing his part and the guys look like they're ready to burst out laughing at his antics. Tonight and Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad are two of my favorite ballads ever.

This album was dedicated to the great Steamin' Steve Clark--someone who will be forever missed. Huge credit goes to the band for carrying on at such a horrendous period in their lives. White Lightning is the most poignant song here.

As Joe always asks before they slip into the first song of this album... "Do you wanna get rocked?"

One of Def Leppard's best albums!!!.......2005-03-13

I wrote a review for the original Adrenalize album and so I won't make this too long. I will say that this CD is very underrated and it deserves a lot more respect than people give it. This is REAL ROCK people!!! Songs like Let's Get Rocked, Make Love Like A Man, White Lightning, Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad (the 2nd best rock ballad ever next to Love Bites), Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion), Tonight, Tear It Down and every other song is awesome!!! I love this CD and it will always be one of my fav's!!! Def Leppard ROCKS!!!!
