Customer Reviews:
Starting to grow on me...........2006-12-26
On further review, this is a very likable CD that was given to me by a former poser. At first I was a little leary with their Trans- Siberian tendancies. Yet, I am starting to appreciate it more with further listens. I think the singer is amazing. It just seems something is missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. I do like the variety and instrumentation and I do see potential here. Maybe I'll try out the heralded Black Halo.
Rising Force.......2006-12-16
Kamelot was on the rise and Kahn was the best thing that happened to Youngblood's writing. There is a lot of variety in the styles including
some Kansas -style writing. There is just a lot to satisfy every palete.
Take this for what it is and it is Melodic -symphonic metal at its best.
"Pure, divine, and Imperial".......2006-11-17
Deeply detailed and gorgeous production, intelligent songwriting with excellent musicianship, and a smoothly impressive lead vocalist make "The Fourth Legacy" an essential Kamelot release. Whether this is your first Kamelot CD or you are looking to add another of their fine albums to your collection, "The Fourth Legacy" is a Symphonic Power Metal jewel front to back without a single weak track. "New Allegiance" is a rocking symphonic intro to the first actual song, "The Fourth Legacy" which then takes off and soars with catchy guitar-work, double-bass drumming and the aforementioned superb lead vocals. "Silent Goddess" downshifts the tempo a bit and adds even more atmosphere beneath the already detailed arrangements until the thundering chorus echoes magnificently in your ears. "Desert Reign" connects with "Nights of Arabia" and begins with Eastern tinges, wooden flutes and giant bells and then adds African drum beats before adding a Middle Eastern flavor with vocals and chimes; eventually all this subsides as a synth bassline completes the transition to their trademark Symphonic Power Metal songcraft. An altogether remarkable concoction. "The Shadow of Uther" pulls things back into more traditional realms, albeit still exceptional work from everyone involved, complete with folk-style lead guitar sections. "A Sailorman's Hymn" is an all-around beautiful ballad with acoustic guitars, tastefully arranged orchestration, and harmoniously soft layered vocals. "Alexandria" explodes with massive percussion before the drums are joined with churning guitars and elegant piano before once again surging forth into another excellent exercise in precision. "The Inquisitor" opens with studio effects rising in volume before another catchy guitar riff takes command and then gives way to mesmerizing basslines and yet another solid vocal performance. "Glory" is a ballad carried with the strength of acoustic guitars, pleasantly place orchestration, and those glorious lead vocals. "Until Kingdom Come" is a speedy Power Metal excursion with charging guitars and laced keyboards and demands to be played at high volume. Brilliant fun! "Lunar Sanctum" is a culmination of all that came before, with slower sections awash with orchestration, beautifully layered vocals, exemplary songcraft on every level! "The Fourth Legacy" is a magnificent release, for Kamelot, for the genre they grace with their regal presence. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Khan voice adds Magic.......2006-10-07
Kamelot before the addition of Roy Khan as lead vocalist had barely tapped into the metal market, but with the addition of Khan and the release of The Fourth Legacy, they have made their mark. Fourth Legacy shows you how Power Metal should be and without the cheese. Beginning strong with the intro track leading into Fourth Legacy, this album is a roller coaster ride from the very beginning, through the Arabian sounding Desert Reign and Nights of Arabia, through the hard Inquisitor, through the ballads of Glory and the Sailorman's Hymn till its grand finale with Lunar Sanctum. This is the album that put Kamelot on the metal map for a reason. Because its such a work of art! Its power metal at its best with one of the best vocalists of our time. Buy this CD and you will not be disappointed!
"there's glory in the distance".......2006-05-23
The first three songs, and the 11th, hint at the glory to come from Kamelot in later releases, but The Fourth Legacy lacks a little of everything that makes Epica and The Black Halo so powerful. The music, the lyrics and even Kahn's voice are not the same, none of these having evolved and developed to the point they are today. Do not misunderstand; I only write reviews for CD's that I like. This is good music that covers such interesting topics as King Arthur, the Crusades and the Inquisition. My misfortune was not discovering Kamelot until recently, with The Black Halo being the first recording I heard. If I had known about them during these earlier years, I could have enjoyed this CD more while waiting for their later works to appear. (Please see my profile for a brief discussion of my rating philosophy, and please see my review of The Black Halo.)

Although the Dream Warriors' debut was released in 1991--the same year as De La Soul Is Dead and Definition of Sound's Love & Life--the album never received proper recognition. Mixing together jazz (the first song is "My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style," and it out-loops anything Us3 ever did) and pop, crossing De La's "D.A.I.S.Y. Age" sensibilities with P.M. Dawn's summery touch, and laying down one hell of a groove, the Dream Warriors stepped up to the plate--only no one showed up to play the field. Years later the album sounds just as good as it did back then. --Randy Silver

My Definition Of A Bombastic Rap CD.......2006-12-26
I really don't know why they didn't get much credit or air play, but this CD is, in my opinion, one of the most dynamic rap cds ever produced. Their sound was a rare thing only used by a handful if not less artists. De La Soul, Digable Planets are 2 that come to mind. They had a fairly big single with My Definition of a Bombastic Jazz Style, however far from as big as it should have been. This cd is nothing but a nice happy place. There is no drama or tales of struggle, just simple fun music. This is quite a gem, pick it up, its what being unique is all about.
The Dream Warriors! Wow! I remember this album!.......2001-11-21
it's great. i've actually looked for this album in music stores but couldn't find it until i remembered that amazon has the song title search (i didn't remember the name of the musicians). i did remember the names of 2 songs though: "Face In The Basin" and "Do Not Feed The Alligators".
The music is kind of like a laid-back rap, with similar sound to 'De La Soul' as others mentioned. i'd buy it mostly for the nostalgia factor, but also because of those crazy lyrics and the corny sound. my cousins and i listened to this stuff when we were kids and we still love it.
Great Pick up!.......2001-08-09
I absolutely LOVE the Dream Warriors. It brings me back to the greats of early 90's rap music. I agree, they are an unremembered rap group, but this record is so fun and will bring you back too. Thier sound is a bit more progressive than most rap music of the time, but their style is one that can definitely be appreciated today. Enjoy
It's a head-bobber!.......1999-09-13
This is a group who deserve more recognition than they have received from the hip-hop scene. Their style and flow is reminiscent of the Roots and De-La-Soul. If you like that mix of Jazzy beats with lyrical mastery, then this group is definitely not one to overlook.
A new style.......1998-12-22
This is an album that was definently overlooked by many. I have not heard one song on here that wasn't innovative in any way. Dream Warriors stand out from all of the "pop" and "gangsta" so called hip-hop. When listening to this album, you notice a strong jazz influence. There are also tracks on here that have a mystic sound to them. Don't wait on this album any longer because this is a classic, take my word for it.
