Groundswell debut e.p. well worth the ten bucks!.......2000-08-08

This CD rocks like nothing i've heard since the second Neds album! CORRODE is brilliant, and SECOND HEAD is also very, very good! It's produced by John Fryer too, he who gave us many great albums by the likes of Yaz, Depeche Mode, Stabbing Westward, & White Zombie. Sorry, but i've got to disagree with someone's previous uninformed and misguided dissing of Gig Records... they have constantly gone out of their way to bring us great music by great bands, and this is just ONE shining example of their commitment to excellence! I own 5 pieces of their catalog now, and their product is better than most major labels, hats off to them! I hope they are around for a long time putting out great music from great artists!! I also hear a live NEDS album is in the works from them! Vivé le Gig!!

A Sweet taste of things to come.......2000-08-01

After a seemingly endless drought of loud, yet poetic music, Neds' front man Jonn Penney is back to save us all! though this is simply an EP it is food for thought of the great album (titled POLE POSITION) to come. -Jeff

Brimming with promise.......2000-05-07

This EP is incredible. Intense, well written, and impeccably produced, this is a well-rounded, mid-tempo jaunt into guitar-drenched melodic fury. And my love for Ned's Atomic Dustbin aside, this is a great EP on all accounts. Complaints about the price-to-songs ratio are valid; I understand that this is largely the fault of the label (Gig Records), which is both misguided and mismanaged (they've indicated an implicit disinterest in expending the effort to get their records into retail locations, etc.). Here's hoping they can get it together and get the Groundswell full-length out ASAP.

At last something to get out of bed for........1999-09-27

To be honest I have seen Groundswell about six times and after listening to this I think it will turn into double figures. I haven't heard anything as good as this for years, and unless they release some more tunes it will be many years to come before I do so again. As soon as the first sound comes from this C.D there is an immense feeling of purity, in both music and lyrics. The best chorus to emerge since I don't know when is alive in "Corrode". "Second Head" is full of emotion and deserves recognition on an anthemic level. "You Think" is a fast paced perfect pop song and no more need said. The surprise song is "Find Out Why", this just goes to show that there is more to this band than at first impression. Beautiful, Loud, Intense and a good buy.

Not worth it.......1999-09-15

With most EPs, it's very hard to justify spending so much and getting so little, and that's especially true with this one. I'm a huge fan of the older Ned's stuff, but this EP is more like the newer Brainbloodvolume (BBV). The other sucky thing is that the first and last songs are the same, so you only get four songs. Summary: If you like GodFodder then don't buy this EP, but if you like BBV and you have money to blow then go ahead.
