Enya's 1988 recording Watermark achieved landmark success with her groundbreaking use of multi-tracking technology to fuse new age and Celtic themes and instrumentation. The meticulous production defines her sound and achieves continuity even while weaving together tender ballads, piano pieces, massively layered vocal harmonies, and symphonic synthesizer movements. Although Enya's pristine voice isn't especially strong, her lead vocals possess a vulnerability that reflects the lyrics' sense of personal searching. From the ubiquitous, frothy single "Orinoco Flow" (which was used to hawk Crystal Light on TV) to the hard, bold edge of "Cursum Perficio," Enya's style remains fresh and engaging today. --Richard Price

One of the best worship albums I've ever heard.......2006-09-21
Waterview's "A Grateful People" Review.......2006-07-24
When I first heard the music from "A Grateful People," I found it to be quite moving and uplifting. Listening to this music continually reminds me of the greatness and goodness of God--after all, this is the purpose of worship music. The CD is a collection of five No. 1 songs from previous albums: "The Glory of Your Name," "Knees to the Earth." "Captivate Us," "Friend for Life," and "The Purest Place" (title song from their last album). The current title song "A Grateful People," "Light of the World," "Take Me There," and "Who Am I" are four brand new tracks on the CD. There are a few songs that have been recorded with other popular Christian groups. To complete the tracks, "Elliana's Song" was written for the couples' three-year-old daughter, Elliana. Although their voices are very distinct, Christy's sound is very similar to Janna Long of Avalon, another Contemporary Christian group (Janna and Christy are performing on a new collaboration together, "Sing Over Me," due out August 1st).
While every song on the CD is a favorite, the tracks at the top of the list are: The Glory of Your Name, "In Your Garden (There is None Like You)," and "Captivate Us." The second track, "The Glory of Your Name," speaks to the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ. Though Christmas and Easter occur at a specific time, fans find it appropriate to celebrate Christ's sacrifice any time of year. The second verse in "In Your Garden (There is None Like You)" is worth mentioning here:
You speak and the sound of your voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that you give me
Within my heart is ringing
"Captivate Us," speaks of drawing closer to God in order to experience His healing and peace.
Based on the reaction to the songs from "A Grateful People" CD, as witnessed at the concert, the fans will be pleased with this latest and final CD album from Watermark. Though Christy and Nathan will no longer record and tour as Watermark, they will be performing on some weekends at women's conferences and other such venues. Notwithstanding, the public will still hear the rich and velvety voice of Christy Nockels of Watermark. Christy leaves us with these words, "Much love and blessings to all who have encouraged, strengthened, and who have marked our lives on this beautiful journey. We are truly grateful people" ("About").

A Farewell to be Grateful for.......2006-04-19
Recorded live in August of 2005, this CD is a collection of the best loved songs from their career. They open with "Take Me There," a hit from their first CD and an upbeat praise song that speaks of the longing for a closer relationship with God. All four of their CD's are represented by the time this one is over with songs like "Glory Baby," "More Then You'll Ever Know," "The Purest Place," and wonderful medley of "Gloria" and "Friend for Life."
Along the way, they have made some good friends in the music business, and several of them show up to help with the songs. My personal favorite appearance is Point of Grace who sings on "Who am I?" a song both groups have recorded individually. Of course, one reason this is my favorite is because I love the song. It's always a good thing to marvel at God's grace for us. Other appearances include worship leader Chris Tomlin on the title song, a song from Watermark's independent days. Also making appearances are Shane and Shane on "Arise and be Comforted," Ed Cash on "The Purest Place," and Charlie Hall on "Captivate Us."
What is surprising about these appearances is the lack of fanfare the artists receive. While the CD was recorded live, there is no talking between tracks. These artists just start singing in their songs and you have to refer to the CD to know they are there. While it surprised me, it makes the CD better for repeated listening since there's no talking to try to skip.
Long time fans will not be disappointed with this disc. The duo doesn't try anything fancy here, just a nice collection of their songs. As such, you get a CD that is worshipful and God focused, just like their other CD's have been. It still easily fits in the inspirational market with their piano and guitar based sound. In fact, my only real complaint with them has always been too many slow tempo songs.
Unlike most best of compilations, this one does offer several previously unreleased songs from the days before they signed with Rocketown. "A Grateful People," and "Arise and be Comforted" both fit into this category. In addition, they offer new songs like a wonderful combination of the classic hymn "In the Garden" with praise chorus "There is None Like You" in place of the regular chorus. It really works well and breaths new life into these songs. They close the CD with two studio recorded songs. "Light of the World" is a praise song about all Jesus can do while "Elliana's Song" is a hidden track about the joy their daughter has brought into their life.
For eight years, Watermark has been focusing our attention on God with their wonderful music. This CD is a great way for all their fans to remember their wonderful music.

Art Garfunkel's Best Solo Album By Far.......2003-07-22
Unfortunately, a lot of Art Garfunkel's subsequent work was, well, mediocre. But in 2002, Art released an excellent collaboration with Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock entitled "Everything Needs To Be Noticed" which, quite deservedly, seems to have brought him a lot of very favourable attention.
Check out "Everything Needs To Be Noticed." It's excellent. And if you like it, check out "Watermark". It's excellent as well. If you like one, you'll like the other.

Not their best album..........2006-06-13
It is also worth noting that I consider "Knees to the Earth" on this album to be one of the most beautiful songs, lyrically and musically, that I have heard in the past several years. I can listen to it over and over again.
However, I would consider the remainder of this album to be somewhat disappointing. It is hard for me to pinpoint significant points to criticize. Having just listened to it again a few days ago, I can hardly remember it. And I suppose that this reality points to my primary critique. With the exception of "Knees to the Earth" and possibly "Holy Roar," it is filled with songs that I found to be rather forgettable.
Nonetheless, I remain appreciative of Nathan and Christy Nockels' heart for ministry and look forward to future releases. They have been richly blessed with wonderful talents that they use so well to glorify the Lord!!

By far Watermarks best album, yet. Each song speaks a truth about God and invites Him to be the center and purpose for our lives. When you are down, you will be instantly refocused on the meaning of life through this music. It is honest and it is amazing.

Husband-and-wife duo Nathan and Christy Nockels comprise Watermark, and are back with their sophomore effort, All Things New, a deeply rich tapestry of acoustic-oriented Christian music. While the group's composition, let alone musical style, will draw inevitable comparisons to Out of the Grey, there certainly are differences, primarily with the songwriting. Christy Nockels's lyrical imagery shines no brighter than in the title track and in the poignant, bittersweet "Glory Baby." The soaring feelings that celebrate a living faith of the former are balanced by the desperate need to be consoled in the latter, a ballad to a couple's miscarried child. But not all is so heavy on this release, as is evidenced by the wonderful "More Than You'll Ever Know," which carries a lively shufflebeat undercutting a pseudo-country vocal from Christy. Who said husbands and wives can't work together and have fun? --Michael LyttleCustomer Reviews:
Full of Passion and Hope.......2006-04-22
My personal favorite song on the album is "Incorruptible", which conveys the truth that if we are believers in Christ, our salvation cannot be lost ("We are not redeemed by corruptible things").
"Glory Baby" is another powerful song about losing an unborn child, and I am amazed by the attitude of hope that Watermark displays in their lyrics. ("Sweet little babies, it's hard to understand it 'cause we're hurting, we are hurting, but there'e healing, and we know we're better people for the growing and the knowing that all things work together for our good, and God works His purposes just like he said He would")
Christy and Nathan Nockels have hearts for God, and their passion is contagious as you listen to this uplifting and truthful album.

I LOVE this CD.......2003-07-16
I first heard the song "Where to Find Me" on my digital cable's christian radio channel (tv these days :)) and loved it, so I sought out more of their stuff. This cd takes my breath away."Where to Find Me" gives me chills. "Glory Baby" is a beautiful song about a losing a baby to stillbirth or miscarriage. "Who Am I" is soft, melodious and relaxing, and "All Things New" is positive, uplifting and just plain awesome. I love Watermark, especially this CD, and I recommend them to everyone.
I love this CD!!!.......2003-05-26
Gifted husband and wife team.......2002-10-05
The song 'Glory Baby' is so inspired for everyone who has lost a child and had to come to terms with the fact that they are with Jesus and will be there until we go to be with them.
'You Are My Stronghold' is a wonderful reminder that God is our refuge and strength in times of trouble and He is truly our stronghold.
'Where To Find Me' is a great song in that it reminds us that no matter how far we wander from God, He always knows where we are.
'Who Am I' is so uplifting and reminds us that out of the billions of people in the world, God knows not only where we are but all about us... even how many hairs there are on our heads!
'It is good for me' is a truly amazing song... turning our eyes to the fact that God is our ultimate supplier of all good things and that He withholds nothing that we need.
I could comment on all the songs on this album but, suffice it to say, that there is not one that does not stir our hearts and lift our souls. Christy's voice is magical and as a couple they are just great!!
This album is a must for all lovers of true gospel, contemporary music.

The thinking behind Pure Orchestra is as follows: select 11 familiar melodies composed by New Age-related artists, arrange them for a 60-member orchestra, then hope something special happens. Alas, nothing much does. This installment from John Tesh's music factory is a decent, well-intentioned effort that may find fans among listeners drawn to symphonic renditions of pop music. Yet for anyone who holds dear the compositions addressed on Pure Orchestra (Enya's "Book of Days," Jim Brickman's "Picture This," "Marching Season" by Yanni, and so on), these lightweight, soundtrack-like interpretations will probably only make you long to hear the originals. Tesh's role here is only as a producer, not a performer, though he does include two original, though uneventful, pieces of his own ("Song for Jennifer" and "Blue"). Kenny G's "Havana" sounds as though its re-creation was being handled by 101 Strings. Meanwhile, the interpretations of two Yanni tracks pale compared to what can be found on Live at the Acropolis, and truly affecting solo pieces such as Brickman's "Angel Eyes" and "Longing/Love" by George Winston gain nothing by orchestral treatment. Sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone. --Terry WoodAlbum Description
Lose yourself in a dynamic swirl of strings, horns and percussion as performed by a 60-piece Symphony Orchestra! Powerful melodies transform 13 memorable songs from the world's most popular new age composers into fully orchestrated, symphonicCustomer Reviews:
Like taking a scented bath in sheer symphonic sound..........2004-12-09
John Tesh does not perform on the album; he produces and had a hand in choosing the selections. One does not have to be a New Age fan to enjoy this disc; in fact I was not even familiar with most the compositions. When your in the mood for a semiclassical atmosphere this will fit the bill. Add a star if you think this album will inspire you to pursue more on the original artists.

Tesh, a savior..... maybe, just maybe.......2003-07-31
Did not reach its fullest potential.......2003-01-04
This is a wonderful album in concept, but earns about a C+ in execution. The song selection is wonderful - truly some of the best melodies from the modern "new age" genre. (I agree with John Tesh in his liner notes: "...'new age' music never really gets much respect as a musical genre. It's a shame, because I believe these melodies to be strong and vital.") Unfortunately, this album may not advance the "new age" genre's reputation as he (or I) had hoped.
It is vital to note that John Tesh didn't do the arranging or orchestrating on this album. One can almost immediately hear it doesn't have his trademark lush, full sounds. Arranger, orchestrater, and conductor J. Eric Schmidt didn't take full advantage of his source material. Most of his arrangements sound thin, especially considering the intent was to fill-out the songs with a 60 piece orchestra. Almost every piece sounds rushed and too staccato. There's no hallmark fermatta-type chords one can hang on to and truly luxuriate in.
Though I do enjoy a few pieces on this album, the tracks I'm most disappointed in are the songs with which I'm most familiar. A couple of examples: Jim Brickman's "Angel Eyes", normally a very pensive and peaceful piece, is so fast it sounds like the conductor just couldn't wait to get out of the studio. Enya's "Book of Days" starts out impressively, but again, there's an underlying rushed feeling and Schmidt changes some of the original chords in the chorus that sound like either lazy arranging or mistakes. The horns in the 2nd and 3rd choruses sound really frail, almost pathetic.
Ultimately, this is a collection of great songs that under poor management falls flat and short of its grander intent. One can enjoy it simply because the skeletons of each piece is so strong. The fleshing out leaves something to be desired.

Comforting & encouraging, w/ scripture based lyrics.......2004-08-20
Each song on All Things New is one that encourages connection and relationship with God. I have owned this album for a couple of years now, but found it especially comforting recently. The track called "Glory Baby" hit close to home with the loss of our first child to miscarriage. I strongly recommend not only that one song, but the whole album to those hurting from the loss of a child. How comforting each time Christy sings, "Heaven is your home, and its all you'll ever know"!
