Love this CD! Steven Halpern's music is elevating, soothing, and healing. The only thing wrong with this CD is that the music doesn't go on long enough. I can listen to it for hours, because it helps me transcend whatever ails me.

I play this cd and imagine myself laying on a blanket in a meadow; the sun is warm and a gentle breeze is rustling the leaves and the birds are singing. The music makes the imagery come very easily and seems to inspire slow, deep breathing. It is very peaceful. Beyond that, the music takes you to a place inside yourself where you experience your own emotions. It was a very strange and wonderful experience. Steven Halpern, you are a genius! Of course not all people are so responsive to music, but if you are I think you will like this cd. I don't get the full effect unless I am doing nothing but listening to the cd, so try that before you say it doesn't "work".

Very Relaxing - listen to it while meditating or working.......2000-12-18

This CD features very relaxing background music - for meditation, for sleeping - or even for working. I tend to tap my foot to most music, but with this CD I hardly notice the music - it's just a soothing background sound (but much more pleasant than "white noise"). It's unusual for me to find a CD that helps me work or meditate. If the music really does heal -then that's a plus (but I wouldn't buy it for that effect alone).

Album Description

Solo flute record live in The Great Pyramid. Wendy Luck, composer and flutist, created The Ancient Key writing structures, melodies and rhythms prior to her Egyptian journey. These compositions served as seeds for the selections contained in the album. Once there, she improvised the music inspired in the moment. The music draws on many aspects of her musical background: classical, jazz, avant-garde and non-western music, where unusual effects, new fingerings, harmonics and non-standard concepts of pitch and scales come together to create new world music for the millennium. This recording utilizes the natural acoustics of The Great Pyramid. No studio effects have been added.

As a massage therapist who does a lot of healing work as part of my practice, I am constantly looking for music that will relax and enhance the state of my client, opening them to become more available - not just to the work I am doing, but also more available to life itself through their process. In Wendy Luck's music, I don't have to look any further. It is brilliant on so many levels : first, as an accomplished musician, who effortlessly and skillfully transforms her flute into a vehicle to take you on an inner journey; secondly, for the resonance and the acoustics of the Great Pyramid, in which she recorded this wonderful album of music; thirdly, for her intuitive understanding of her music as a tool to SHIFT THE RESONANCE OF ENERGY in the world, opening it up and expanding it to new levels. THIS is what excites me about her music. THIS is how I use it DAILY in my practice. THIS is what clients often say when commenting on listening to it while on the table. THIS is what I reflect on while I play it in the background as I go through my day. Wendy Luck's "The Ancient Key" is a marvellous collection of contemplative moods, recorded at ancient sites in Eqypt, such as the Great Pyramids. These cavernous locations fill the recording with dense natural reverberation reminiscent of Paul Horn's "Inside the Taj Mahal."

Luck uses a variety of flutes, including the lush, resonant Alto Flute, as well as several native flutes from around the world. These latter, in particular, give "The Ancient Key" a timeless sound that connects musical traditions from the Middle East and the West to ancient times.

This is a great album for those who enjoy contemplative music. This disc played continuously during the labor and delivery of our second child. Thorughout, the music stayed fresh and vital, creating the perfect mood to welcome our new arrival.

A fine album that is sure to please any listener.

Why work harder than you have to?.......2000-09-25

In my day to day life I find meditation rather a simple thing to do. Focus, visualization and control.....However, when it comes time to do energy work, something more is needed. I have experimented with Native drums and flutes....Ocean sounds, rain forest sounds...The list is endless!!!

The first time I listened to this wonderful work by Ms. Christiansen I was transported to a place of comfort and vision...The words, the music and the voice all work together to move one into a safe and calm place, and allow one to use so much more of the energy for their work, rather than simply making the trip.

I would recomend this work to novitiate and Master alike...and the mode of work matters not, for this truly is a work for all modalities.

So when your copy arrives, sit back, clear your mind, and feel the depth of this work...You WILL be amazed!

Meditation for a high strung mind.......2000-09-18

I love this CD. In the past, I have had great difficulty meditating. My mind never stops chattering. There is great stress in my life, both personal and professional. "Healing in the Light" is soothing, comforting, relaxing, and helps me quiet the chatter. My ultimate goal is open the doorway to the light of my soul. This tape is an excellent beginning, where so many others have failed me.
