Lean, mean...the final step in punk's evolution........2004-12-01

G.G. Allin's recordings ranged from from pop-punky(his stuff with the Jabbers)to crudely funny(the Scumfucs) to terrifying and almost unlistenable(Bulge). But rarely did G.G. sound as focused as he does on this album, recorded with Antiseen in 1991. He had just finished a two-year stint in prison, and these songs are brimming with antisocial sentiments which are alarmingly intense even for the "only true rock and roller left in the world"(well, until his death two years after this collection of songs was recorded).
As I wrote in the header for this review, "Murder Junkies" represents the final step in the evolution of punk. The form really couldn't be taken any further than this: the songs are loud, crunchy, and minimal, full of a concentrated aggression. Very little of the fun that was such an important part of early punk rock is evident here; the only track which gives a nod to that faraway, 1977 sound is 'Sister Sodomy'. The remainder of the album(songs like 'I Love Nothing', 'War In My Head', and the epic, seven-minute 'I Hate People') boils punk down to the rage and menace that was always present just under the surface of those happy-happy, three-chord riffs.
This re-release has extra tracks, including a couple on which G.G. shares lead vocals with Antiseen frontman Jeff Clayton. "Murder Junkies" is monochromatic, but highly recommended when you're in the mood for something aggressive.

Love GG, but audio is terrible on this one..........2004-04-03

I don't have the greatest stereo in my car to begin with, but I can't listen to this album at all in my car. The audio is terrible. For GG fans and collectors that would like to just sit down and listen to it, go ahead and buy it. There's some really cool stuff on this one... especially on the live audio and some freestyle stuff he does at the end.

To sum it up: Collectors go ahead and buy it. Just don't plan on jamming to it because the audio sucks.

Great Songs / Nearly Unbearable Quality.......2002-05-06

Okay, this recording has some of the greatest songs GG Allin has EVER recorded. The trouble is, the music sounds like its been put through a meat grinder. No real GG Allin fan expects good sound quality ripping through the speakers along with GG's toothless growl, but its nice when you can actually HEAR the music. It's just intolerable. Or maybe I just got spoiled listening to Hated in the Nation 700 times in a row first.By the way, Hated in the Nation is probably the best GG Album you can get, next to... Drunks and Junkies, followed closely by Brutality and Bloodshed for all. Hated in the Nation, FFD and J, and B and B for all are MUST HAVE'S for ANY GG fan, or anyone who can laugh at the sick, depraved, disgusting and violent.Also recommended to parents of Goth children. At least you're kids haven't found GG yet!!!

gg at his best or worst which would be his best, but............2000-02-02

to me, this, along with "antisocial personality disorder-live" and "brutality and bloodshed for all", is essential gg allin...i am not a big fan of his ealier stuff..there is something missing from that. it may just be the fact that he sounds like he should be singing for bad religion on a lot of that stuff, or it may be the music itself...i don't know...but here and on the ones that i mentioned earlier, you get the animal...

never before, and possibly, never again will a person be able to put all of his anger and frustration into the form of a voice...there are times when he hardly seems human(which may be because he was too trashed to remember the words and simply growls along, who knows with gg)...

if you are on this page then you are either a fan or, at least, have heard the stories and legends...if you fall into the latter category, grab this album and find out what all of the fuss is about...if it is too raw for you, that is ok, it will be for most...but,on the off chance,that it strikes a chord with you....look into more of his stuff...

The best introduction to the great G.G Allin!.......1998-09-24

The first twelve cuts on this CD comprise the '93 Fastlane show from Asbury Park, NJ, and is, without a doubt, one of G.G.'s best efforts. Certainly it is his most emotional. Here, he not only thanks his band for sticking with him while he was incarcerated up in Michigan, he even tells the audience that they were "cool" for coming out to see him! That's a first and only.

Obviously the Murder Junkies, G.G.'s last and best band, spent a lot of time practicing, for I've never heard them play better. This recording also contains one of G.G.'s great speeches, touching on the Lolapalooza Tour and related matters.

As for the music, well, if you've never heard G.G. Allin, this is the CD to start with. Extreme versions of "Bite It You Scum" and eleven other tunes that put everybody to shame, from Metallica and those lame poser metalheads, all the way through soft rock, punk rock, folk rock, and any other kind of music you can think of.

This CD proves the obvious once again: two and two is four, water is wet, and G.G. is the only true rock 'n' roller.

About as bad as bad can get........2005-06-12

This is truly a masterpiece in demonstrating how not to write music. Hmmm...to even suggest that it was written is too much of a compliment. Let's say it was sort of mashed together; everyone playing their own thing while G.G. screamed whatever came to mind. And given how little of his mind was even functioning, the fact that he could talk was a miracle. This is not punk rock. Do your self a favor and pass on the entire G.G. collection.

The Best damn GG Allin recording EVER.......2004-09-30

This was GG's best and final album, and he actually died shortly before it was released to consumers. but at least he left us with this! If anything ever good came from his sorry discrace of a life to mankinds existance this was it. Every thing he recorded before this wasn't anywhere near as good as this, and if he had lived a little longer, theres no way he could have topped it. it was a miricale that this was ever recorded.

The only thing that sucks (really really sucks) is you will probably never get a chance to own it, let alone hear it. its completly out of print, and the remaining copys out there are scarce. if you can get it used buy it, buy it buy it, cause you'll never see it again after.

Led by Merle Allin on bass, The MURDER JUNKIES backed GG Allin's in its last two US tours and recorded with him his 1993 farewell swan song 'Brutality & Bloodhsell for All'. They also appear on at least 10 of GG Allin live DVDs. "Feed My Sleaze" was their debut album, and includes songs such as 'Waking Up In A Pool Of Piss' and 'Jism On The Cross'. Pure punk poetry which would have made Bukowski proud.

AN OFFENSIVE GEM.......1999-10-26

Why don't more people go into bat for these boys? Minus GG, they still manage to cause offence & to put out some rip-roarin' rock'n'roll with the customary country/punk/scumfuc twist. Get this recording, both the 10" vinyl & CD versions (NOTE: the CD features about 3 extra songs - can't recall the exact number, old boy): both are great. Why don't ya get Merle to autograph 'em while yer at it? Even better are the new songs, as yet unrecorded. No, this is not a GG clone outfit. These boys are doin' their own thing, & they are a damned delight. Enjoy, baby. Dino may be no intellectual, but he keeps one little father of a beat (plays drums too).

The tru old school hate punk........1999-03-10

You cannot even compare this band with the current crop of so-called "punk" bands like Green Day and Offspring. These guys were the band that brought nihilism back to punk, the aspect of the movement which set it apart from it's half-assed contemporaries. Their music is similar to that of the Dead Boys, and other older NYC punk bands. Although GG is gone, the sentiment is still all there. The Murder Junkies are a step back in time before PC and alternative music, when punk rock really did mean "f$%k you", and not "let's all care"..-from another brooklyn punk

Come on, how can you go wrong with an album that features song titles like: "Stiff Cold Fuck", "Waking Up in a Pool of Piss" and "Jism on the Cross?" This is ROCK AND ROLL, BAY-BEE!!! I especially like the title cut and "Destiny to Destroy". Highly recommended.

A Must Have For The Faithful Fans.......2006-08-16

It's a shame that another one of GG's albums is currently not available. I have this LP on vinyl, and I need to get it on CD.
This is yet another great recording (not many were well recorded)
along with a great back-up band.Whats so cool about this version, is the spoken word recordings in between each song. I believe this was recorded right after his release from prison.
The sound quality is pretty good, and the songs will definately
stick in your head - Example: 99 Stab Wounds
GG has alot to say on this recording, and it needs to be heard.
Anti-Seen was probably his second best backing band, next in line to the great "Murder Junkies".If you are a fan of his early
stuff only, you probably won't enjoy this as much as the fans of his later , more aggressive, style of song writing. If you are like me and crave all of GG's recordings, find and buy this album!!!
