5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Skynyrd CD.......2007-03-08

I love this CD! It gives me happy feet, what can I say. I play it often as I never tire of hearing Skynyrd classic hits.

3 out of 5 stars Pronounced Leonard Skinnard.......2006-12-27

I'm not a fan, but if you are, this is a good collection. I like the Allman Brothers better (and yes, I know they are a blues band). I bought this to learn "You've Got That Right" for my band. If the Eagles or The James Gang are considered Southern Rock, and that is your odyssey, check them out first. Sacrilege, I know.

5 out of 5 stars The Definitive Collection.......2006-12-18

This CD is all you really need from Lynyrd Skynrd. It contains 14 of their greatest songs and each one is a classic. There are no fillers on this album. It's filled with hit after hit of some of the best southern rock ever recorded. All of the songs are classics as I said but one song that I'm happy that they included in this collection is "All I Can Do Is Write About It" (acoustic version). This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The words are simple and yet deeply moving and powerful. Listen to this song carefully and it will touch your heart like it did mine. The CD opens with what is probably one of the most famous songs in the classic rock pantheon "Sweet Home Alabama". This one is considered to be a rock n'roll anthem and I completely agree. Overall this is an album that every fan of classic rock should not be without. This is Lynyrd Skynyrd at their very best and beyond.

5 out of 5 stars great cd.......2006-11-10

able to listen to the whole cd without having to skip any songs, great cd!!

5 out of 5 stars Still Rockin' After All These Years.......2006-11-03

Music is like art.....I don't know much about it, but I know what I like, and I like "All Time Greatest Hits"...a lot!! It's classic sing-along standards to which we all know the words. Just like on the old Dick Clark American Bandstand shows..."It's got a good beat, and you can dance to it". Of course you can mop floors to it, and drive to it, and have the other drivers wonder why you look so spastic, but best of all you can just enjoy the songs. To a southern girl.....uh, old broad.....this is true southern rock and roll. I was rockin' with Lynyrd Skynyrd back in the '70's and I'm still rocking with them 30 years later.

Forget the questionable title--did the survivors actually approve it?--and dig Innyrds' track listing, which sums up a lot about why so many of us still love this bunch of Southern tough guys. Not only was their triple-guitar howl one of the definitive sounds of the whole post-Allmans movement, singer Ronnie Van Zant put his smarts--and his intelligence--to work on lyrics like "Saturday Night Special" (an anti-gun screed), "Workin' for MCA" (a not-grinning shot at the band's record label), and "That Smell" (a warning about his own excesses). And what's that other song called? Oh yeah, "Free Bird." --Rickey Wright

5 out of 5 stars The Pinnacle Of Southern Rock.......2007-07-05

If you were born and raised in the South like me, you probably have a special place in your heart for at least one of the tunes on "Skynyrd's Innyrds." Sure, this is far from the best compilation of tunes from the greatest Southern Rock band around, but each and every song on here is worth five stars by itself. From the legendary "Freebird" to jabs at the record label on "Workin' For MCA," to songs of warning like "That Smell," Skynyrd has a little something for everybody. "Saturday Night Special," "Call Me The Breeze" and "Gimme Three Steps" are just a few more of the wonderful tunes you can find on here. "Sweet Home Alabama," which reminds Mr. Young that he ain't needed around anyhow, is pure South. Skynyrd was a rebellious band for a rebellious people, and you really have to be from the South to get them completely.

Anybody who claims to know anything about Southern Rock needs this album. It didn't begin (nor did it end) with Lynyrd Skynyrd, but they are definitely one of the most important bands to ever grace the stage, no matter what genre. I highly recommend this album. It's the perfect "beginner's set" for anyone interested in Southern Rock.

1 out of 5 stars Where are the good Ones?.......2004-08-26

What rocket scientists came up with this poor excuse for a Best of... Album? Considering that Skynyrd only produced a couple of studio albums it is strange that several of their best songs are not included. The most glaring omission is "Tuesdays gone", they also should have had "Simple Man", "Curtis Loew", and "the Needle and the Spoon". These songs are much better than some of the songs that were included. I hate to give only one star to an album by A great band like this, but it is just not what I am looking for in a Greatest Hits album

      2 out of 5 stars THAT SMELLS!.......2005-10-14

In which the band with the hardest name to spell in all of music, releases a compilation with the most unappetizing title, particularly given their grisly fate over a quarter century ago. Southern rock's second best act (sorry, but the Allmans got there first) has put out more greatest hits packages than they ever did original albums (an old Who trick), but this lame roundup was one of the "fyrst" and "wyrst". Sorely lacking in actual "best of" moments, "Innyrds" leaves out bona fide staples too numerous to mention here, instead substituting dogs like SWAMP MUSIC and DOUBLE TROUBLE, plus a pedestrian reading of diner counter warhorse TRUCK DRIVIN' MAN (stick with J. Geils' funky cover, folks). While the grand Neil Young slam SWEET HOME ALABAMA, cautionary classic THAT SMELL, and rowdy roadhouse romp GIMME THREE STEPS all demonstrate how seamlessly Ronnie Van Zant and the boys fused rock, boogie and country, it just ain't enough of a good thing, which is the whole purpose of these retrospectives in the first place. And who in the name of white lightnin' needs an OUTTAKE version of the most overrated, overplayed 70s epic this side of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, FREE TURD? For a much easier to digest Skynyrd legacy package, check out either GOLD AND PLATINUM, or the spankin' new THYRTY-THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION. Both double discs that cover all the right bases, even if the latter gives over too much space to the inferior Johnny Van Zant-era. Score one of those, and "TURN IT UP!" RATING: TWO LITTLE

4 out of 5 stars Why they call it Classic Rock.......2007-01-11

70s GREATEST HITS: HEAVY HITTERS Vol. 2 is a terrific various artist set of rock that spans the years 1968-77, with particular emphasis on the early 70s. Audio quality on all of these classic recordings is superb. The longest track here, "The Court Of The Crimson King," clocks in at 9:26, and is the complete work. "Free Bird," on the other hand, is shortened by a few minutes-- thus the 4 star rating for the CD.
